Title: RSQ Area 51
Post by: Shogun112 on March 30, 2011, 09:16:10 AM
******************
Ok I put some questions together while the laptop is being rebuilt..!!!
******************

PM me your answers by midnight on Tuesday 5 April.

Please put RSQ 51 in the subject header and give the corresponding number for each question with each answer.

The reveal will take place at 8pm on Wednesday 6 Apr 2011 on this thread.

Your score for each question is the number of people who give the same correct answer. The answer most commonly given is called the sheep, with the corresponding sheep score.  If you score the only ACE (an ace being a correct answer which no-one else submits) in any round, you will receive MINUS 1 points for that round.
You are not allowed to do research such as using Google to come up with answers, and you are not allowed to ask others for help with your answers.  Remember, you are only cheating yourself (and your illustrious peers).

If you give an incorrect answer, you will receive the sheep score + 5 points

You MUST pass on one, and only one, question and you will receive a score of 0 for that question.

******************************************
Questions...

1) Name a movie with ‘Vegas’ in the title. - Full Name

2) Name a standard chess piece.

3) Name a regular Simpsons Charachter whose surname is not Simpson - full name.

4) Name a Tour De France winner who is NOT Lance Armstrong. - Full Name

5) Name a letter of the alphabet (upper case) that is NOT a vowel and nor does it have exclusively all straight lines.

6) Name a country that shares a border with Brazil.

7) Name a Zoo in England with the word zoo in its name.

8) Name a typical persons name that is used in the Nato Radio Alphabet.

9) Name a type of wood that would typically be used in furniture manufacture.

10) Name a football team whose name starts and ends with the same letter... ("Football Club" is not included in their name)..  All 4 main divisions, English and Scotish.

FARCE

Is this the earliest breakdown of a RSQ QM ever?

FARCE

Pretty sure it is.  Also explains why he's missing from MSN this morning.

I am to do the next RSQ and said on the thread that I would have it done this morning.  Last night the hard disk on my laptop went busto, so I am just about to go out and buy a new hard disk for it.  Its gonna probably take most of the day recovering the operating system and date etc..  So apologies for the delay, but that needs to be done before anything else..

Cheers
Carl

I've stickied this thread. You can edit the OP with the questions when they're done. I think it fitting that the thread starts as a complete disaster as I think that's what the actual quiz will be.

I did my homework, honest Sir, but then I spilt tea on it then it got dropped in a puddle then the dog ate it. I'll definitely be able to do it again for tomorrow Sir, honest, so don't give me detention or anything.

It gets worse ffs..!!

I went to PC world, told techguy, need a laptop drive etc.. He takes me to s ection, we choose one, 500gig, same size as mine..   Then I see 1000 gig for a fiver more..  So I say, that will be good, lets have that one..  Got it home, and its a fkin desktop drive, so take it back and now got a 500 gig replacement...  And then...  Its in the computer, its recognised...  I have 3 DVD disks that I made like 1 month ago, which is a set of system recovery disks..  Put in Disk 1... It starts recovery...  Please insert disk 2... Nope, wont recognise it ffs..!!  grrrrr...

if you'd used the time you spent typing those 2 posts explaining why you've not posted the questions to actually post the questions then the questions would be posted by now

I'm confused as to how your drive farce stops you from publishing the RSQ questions when you still have access to the Internet.

ps. sorry for your loss.
pps. get some questions up!

Some interesting questions amongst that lot, and some that are ridiculous - but will be fun during the reveal.  I'd back up your hard-drive Carl in case it goes into meltdown again during the reveal.

My laptop gets an automated backup at 4:00am each day on a schduler that backs it up to an external hard disk.  Not worried at losing 1 day of data, in reality, wont really lose too much because my email setting are to leave mail on the pop3 server for 14 days before removing it, so i will not lose any of that.  Just got to hope that the restore works..!!!  Its important because all my business work is on there and its gonna be year end, and VAT qtr end tomorrow too..!!!

Did Hector get -1 for that round?

Your score for each question is the number of people who give the same correct answer. The answer most commonly given is called the sheep, with the corresponding sheep score.  If you score the only ACE (an ace being a correct answer which no-one else submits) in any round, you will receive MINUS 1 points for that round.
You are not allowed to do research such as using Google to come up with answers, and you are not allowed to ask others for help with your answers.  Remember, you are only cheating yourself (and your illustrious peers).

Except you didn't vary that rule, you included it in your rules.  It was there at the start of the quiz when you set the questions, when people submitted their answers, and when the reveal started.

Have you ever actually watched the simpsons? Can't imagine why you'd need to be consulting a wiki over this.

Never watched it, hate it even, which is why I have to use the Wiki pages to be the source of my answers :)

SO for some characters a nickname is ok, but for others it's not?

If Mr Burns is a fail, which obv it isn't, groundskeeper willie would be too

Completely fallacious logic to fail one but theoretically allow the other

and now I am involved in the thread but how can I not be with such stupidly from this QM?

A travesty, and we cannot expect RSQ to survive much longer in the face of these clowns

With regards to the simpsons questions, I will carry on and IF at the end, I adjust the scores I adjust the last one only or it will take me ages... lol

I knew this was the reason.  A flawed spreadsheet has spawned a flawed QM.

Yup sigh.

My spreadsheet is good and easy to edit scores. Hell, I scored on the fly using it. No precompiling!

I'm tempted to make it public domain.

How do you get the numbers in it? do you Pokemon ?

:D

How do you get pikachu on a bus?

while u mention that..(was watching the footie)  why is Chief Wiggum a fail???

Clancy Wiggum was accepted.

But why was that accepted rather than Chief wiggum?   Everyone knows the Character as Cheif and not clancy......people in the show refer to him as Chief Wiggum..the simpson credits themselves state Chief Wiggum.

Or would you except Barthoeleuw (spelling crap i know) rather than Bart?

Of course MDF is used in making furniture, what is in dispute is that it is not a "type of wood".

It is however possible that your brain lagely consists of MDF.

LOL - so paper would have been a correct answer too?  Or charcoal.

Actually, plastic would have been a correct answer too.  It was once wood, but it became oil over thousands of years, was extracted and turned into plastic.

Still wood though!!

Firmin Lambot 1922?

Supernova, I thought better of you

the rest I knew, so google is questionable imo

I'll have you know I made a big effort googling for at least 30 seconds here Tighty! It was well worth the effort if it was so obscure even you didn't know! 1922  was a great memorable year in my ancestry as it goes and the guy had an easy name to remember too, so I was happy with that one.
