Before I arrive on Firday this thread will record overnight chip counts for each of 1a, 1b,1c and 1d and it would be great if all those who play on those nights put up their own reports and experiences to help build us up to the live update itself.....

thank you

On another note:  "Direct buy-in is only available through Dusk Till Dawn's Online Poker Lobby."  Does this mean no alternates/late entries into this on any of the Day 1s?

The answer I got from fb.

IF there are spaces on the day you want, and you're at the club before 5.30pm, you can buy a ukash voucher and credit your online account with the funds, then buyin

Title: Re: DTD Grand Prix 3: £80,000 GTD
Post by: kinboshi on May 16, 2011, 05:18:36 PM
Online entries are available until 6pm on the night - so if you've got money in your account, you can buy in until then (using the computers at DTD I'd guess).

I can see them wanting everyone to buy in online, but if they are down on numbers on any of the nights then allowing alternates might be an option open to them :dontask:

the only reason I can see against it is apathy of people to buy in online in advance for future GP's - but that is a fairly big consideration i suppose

There current proposal doesnt help people that live 90 minutes away thou!

Probs swerve it i guess

Can you make one night this week?  Why not just buy-in now, or don't you have an online account?

You can open an account on the night too.

If you come, I'm sure you'll get in.

But like Boshi says, can't you just do it from home? If you've got a web browser, you should be able to do it.

Great idea and still good numbers but your not gonna get people wanting to make a weekend of it play the Mon-Weds which is why they haven't sold out.

sent to me

Rich

There’ll be no alternates available, so we strongly suggest players buy-in asap if they want to play.

There will be no live entries allowed at the club. However, I will be available every night from 5pm to help anyone that is having difficulty. I will also have UKash vouchers which can be bought for cash.

So, anyone that does arrive early enough, I can help get registered for the comp. Buy-in closes at 6pm on each day for that night’s tournament.

Evilpie - I might see you on Weds!   :)

Bit of update - of the 25 out by level 2 - at least 4 were ko'd by Pete Linton.
He reraised his first hand to 1000 (L1) and said how here was here to gamble. Due to him raising or reraising every hand the table played like everyone thought everyone else was also bluffing. He ko'd 3 in L1 - he reraised a flop bet on a 477 flop and showed his 5x pre flop raise was with 27. Our hero reporter already lost half his stack with all the lunacy going on so then shoved Lintons next open raise all in for 40 odd BB's - Linton rivered it to take another 1 down and increase his stack to 55K and be 1/6 of his way to his stated target of 300k for end of play tonight. He might just do it.

That was a bit miserable. I thought it was a good post- what's a live update thread for if not live updates?

Either that or you actually are on the edge of your seat, in which case my sarcasm detector is broken.

From Rob Yong

THERE ARE NO LIVE BUY-INS AT THE CLUB FOR THIS EVENT, YOU CAN ONLY BUY-IN THROUGH OUR ONLINE POKER LOBBY.

I WANT TO MAKE THIS ABSOLUTELY CLEAR TO AVOID ANY PLAYERS TURNING UP AND WANTING TO BUY-IN AT THE CASH DESK AND THEN BEING CHEESED OFF WITH US WHEN WE SAY "NO". ESPECIALLY ON FRIDAY WHEN THIS COULD CAUSE US A REAL PROBLEM.

FOR THE LAST WEEK, OUR ONLINE STAFF (SOPHIA, ALEX AND NICOLA) HAVE BEEN AT THE CLUB TO HELP PEOPLE WITH ANY ONLINE PROBLEMS, SETTING UP ACCOUNTS AND BUYING IN THROUGH THE ONLINE SITE FOR THE GRAND PRIX ETC. SO FAR TODAY.

I REPEAT - THE GRAND PRIX IS ONLINE BUY-IN ONLY

Hi Guys

Here is my first daily report from the Grand Prix.

Day 1A of the Grand Prix III has come to a close, after 10 x 30 minute levels, the 296 runner field has been reduced to 70 players who will be returning for day 2 on Saturday. The average stack is 42,285 and the current chip leader is Michael Holmes with 137,100. There were 44 online qualifiers who chose to play day 1A who each received a Golden Chip at the start of play, which would entitle them to an additional £5000 should they make the final table. Eight of which have made it through to day 2. Dusk Till Dawn already holds the record for the biggest tournament field in the UK at 1058 set at the UKIPT. The guarantee for the Grand Prix III is 1600 players, and with 4 day 1’s to go Friday is already sold out and the current number of entries is 1185, so our previous record will be smashed.

The atmosphere in the club was fantastic tonight with everyone saying what an amazing experience the Grand Prix is with the opportunity to play a low buy in event with a deepstack structure and a huge prizepool. If you wish to join the action and play Tuesday to Thursday you can buy in online up until 6pm each day, there are already 183 registered for tomorrow and we expect at least 300.

Cheers

Keep this sort of stuff coming please. Too late for Mr Bluemonk, who was told to go away in essence by one member, but this is not what I want. More reports, more updates please by anyone who plays Tues-Thurs

Mr BlueMonk, if you see this, apologies. Please post more.

No problem Tighty - will definitely be posting some more as and when. I was unsure at the time whether I was flouting some unwritten code of ethics but if you're happy to have these additions to the updates I'll be happy to oblige again in the future. Cheers.BM.

I thought it was guaranteed at £80000? which would mean it had to be full every day just to match the guarantee, so there will be an overlay - is that right or I have got it wrong somewhere?

80000 (guarantee)/50 (buy-in) =1600 (runners)

320 (runners) x 5 (day 1's) =1600

DTD holds 400 plus

Presumably they could fill next two nights to that if the people bought in

I managed to make a 6 card royal last night on the cash tables. Holding  Ad  9d board ran out x  Td  Jd  Qd  Kd win a massive £9 :D

Hi there everyone, I'm playing Dtd gp3 day 1e
Was wondering if anyone could tell us what the blind structure is. Is it the same as a normal Dtd tourney? And what are the lv 10 blinds?
Look forward to Friday. I have only ever played in 50 max runner tournaments so I'm a little nervous too

Pmsl. 8 hands  dealt and already seen  AA cracked and KK cracked. The nuts checked on the river.. Had one guy declare 2 pair and when he turns his cards over he has a straight. 36 seat 1 the culprit. Richard has already asked the dealer to gid dem cars a gu shimmy now. I ain't played a hand yet but it's all good. X

Lol. No 3. Got ed Bailey in 4. And Dylan a former dealer in 5. Played one pot now against ed having to call his 3 bet pre c bet flop then I lead the turn. Only player on this table who could fold a hand. He is kicking the he'll out of seat 1 ATM. Ed will either be massive at mid night or home by 10

Out of the 29 dealers, I think we have the most miserable at my table. Either that or he has had a very bad day.... Thank god they change every 15 mins or so....

Hand 10 blinds 50 100 ( yes level 2 and we are on 20 hands an hourly rate) sat in bb with AK. 4 limpers and make it 600 to Richard and cap on sideways both call. Flop comes 9 6 4 and I c bet 1200. Richard calls and cap on side ways folds. King on the turn and Richard winces so I check. Ace on the river. Bet 2500 and Richard snap calls with AJ.

Wow what an amazing table!!

Pure comedy standard, one guy didn't even know what blinds were. He outlasted me though :D

Grinded the shit out of it absolutely card dead. Squeezed a couple of times to maintain stack.

Got it in at 300/600 + 50 with AQ vs JJ vs KJ. KJ binked it.

To be honest I was kinda glad when it was over. Slow painful death is all I can say.

I played last night. Arrived early and was greeted by two friendly girls, who gave me my "Golden" chip. We had a bit of banter about me possibly being the 1st player to cash  in a golden chip!
Went accross to Frankie and Bennies and had the New York Calzone which is very nice- the waiter asked me what I was up to...it must look funny somebody eating alone. I told him I was Playing cards accross the road - he said "oh are the Scandinavians here again"??
With 3 minutes to go "Aces" tells us the game will start on time as usual. I have been coming to DTD since it opened and I can only remember once when a Tournament started late; due to a computer malfunction. Some things in the place have changed since it opened, there are slot machines, Roulette and now Black Jack.  If these games keep it viable they can only be a good thing - If possible a craps table would be a great addition.
I am on seat 8 on my table which is my favourite seat but it turns out to be seat 7.5 as there are 10 players to each table which confuses everybody who sit in wrong seats. Once this is sorted the game starts - there are a mixture of standard of players, obviously some dont usually play for so much prizemoney and are quite tentative but there are a couple of young men who obviously play at a high level and are talking about "Stars,Tilt, 3 betting, pot odds and stuff like that. You can tell they are good players because of the angle of their caps. These "modern " players have some infuriating habits, other than talking incessantly about what they have won online, or which hotel you will be staying in in Vegas next month, things like ....can you spread the pot please? I have been playing this game for 20 years now and if i am in a pot I know to within a chip or two how much is in the pot - I can only assume they do this to demonstrate that they are aware of pot odds or implied odds and it helps them to foster their table image!
However, despite knowing how much is in the pots I proceed to lose most of my chips. For the 1st hour I can not win anything and am soon down to 3,000 from the starting stack of 10k. So I do what all good players do I shove on any two, which changes my fortune and I soon start building a stack. I am now getting good cards and get back up to average stack by the 1st break. The dealers are generally good and the rotation of dealers can be a bit offputting particularly if you get your "lucky" dealer and he/she leaves in the middle of a hot streak.
After a couple of hours of not getting any cards and just folding and watching the young people having fun three betting and stuff , my cards suddenly change. I get AA and KK and hit a Q on the flop for trips and before you know it I have 25k and the average is 14k. The blinds increase insidiously and before I know it my 22k is just average but I then get the hand that changes things ;"I look down at or wake up to "Ahrt Aspades and after a lot of three four and five betting me and a young person are all in. He has  Kh Kc The board come  Qh Qs 6h 9h 3h for a split second both of us were frantically looking for a heart and mine was bigger than his- so I doubled up. The blinds were now 800 /1600/ 200 ante and the nature of the game changes - more folding ,stealing with big raises or all ins .Eventually there are about 70 players left at close of play I have 61,o00 which is above the average of 46k so will be back on Saturday.

Day 1C of the Grand Prix III

The total number of runners for the Grand Prix III stands at 1,448, just 152 short of the 1600 player guarantee. Day 1D currently has 203; will we end up with the 355 required

Day 1C had 287 entrants and 64 approximately 22% of the field made it through to day 2  with an average chip count of 44,800, chip leader is Jamie Forest with 103,200. So far during the first 2 days 12 Golden Chip holders have progressed to Saturday’s restart at 1pm. Tonight, there were 22 and 4 will be joining them. Should one of these Golden Chip satellite qualifiers make it to the final 8 on Sunday they will earn an additional £5,000.

Cheers

Great post. People who ask for the pot to be spread tilt the life out of me too. As do horrible spotty young kids who incessantly talk about poker to anyone who will listen

haha A+++ brilliant :P angle of their caps !

yeah I get irritated by this, i spose fair enough if the pot has been particularly complex - like 4 people all in or somethign....

but normally its a pretty simple sum of pre-flop raise*number of players and that gives you a pretty good idea lol, prolly too busy figuring out they are gonna merge their river range to do all this looking/counting/mulitplying.

Bet 2500 and Richard snap calls with AJ.

every table has at least one dave

Day 1D of the Grand Prix III

1527 now entered which means we did not hit the 355 required for the 1600 runners so have added an extra 80 seats to Day 1E, it is in the lobby under DUSK GP EXTRA 1E.

Day 1D had 282 entrants and 70 of them, or 24.8% of the field made it through to day 2, the highest percentage so far with an average chip count of 40.285, chip leader is John Grice (Regards, MPower)with 115,800. There were 28 Golden Chips and 8 made it through making a total of 34. Should one of these Golden Chip satellite qualifiers make it to the final 8 on Sunday they will earn an additional £5,000.

Cheers

Hi All

We are delighted to announce extra seats are now available for Day 1E.

The Grand Prix has been a huge success with 1526 players bought in so far, we would love to break 1600 so are providing extra tables for Day 1E.

A new event has been set up in the Dusk Till Dawn online lobby called " Dusk GP Extra 1E "

This is restricted to 80 players and you have until 6pm tomorrow to register.

We already have 404 players tomorrow, the atmosphere here is going to be great when i announce " shuffle up and deal "

Cheers

Dusk Till Dawn has once again beaten the UK attendance record for a live competition

At the time of writing, 1,545 players have already bought into the DTD Grand Prix and today, the final day 1, 80 seats have been added to get to the 1600 player target and meet a guarantee felt almost unachievable.

The previous record was their own, 1,058 from earlier this year, which broke their previous record of 900 last year.

The eventual winner will win over £20,000 from their £50 buy in.

So far, the chip leader is John "MPOWER" Grice with over 140,000 from Day1b.

Will Day 1e see someone beat that?

The Live update begins at 7pm, and we will play ten 30 minute levels tonight

Regards

T

Well there is a story

I can't go in the bar area as the blackjack tables mean there is no space

There is no table room spare

Tried the VIP room, got a dirty look

Wandered around, and plonked myself on the table where they are registering players

They can try to move me, but they will fail.

My fallback is probably reception area, I expect, until tables break.

Right, of 434 playing today that just about completes photos of those I know!

1,557 total and rising..late reg for 4 levels

We've lost three so far today

and they are

432     Shane Phelan
433    George Wilkinson
434    Stephen Gillooly

I suppose I might try and get a hand or two

In fact ill do a few HH's for you

Player raises 6x UTG and get 7 callers

bets pot on a 567 - 2 callers

jams blank turn  - called spot 1 - tank called spot 2

raiser AA
caller 1 89
caller 2 - 76

river 2

gg 2 players

Well as to atmosphere, friendly and lively.

A quick waddle round about 50 tables and I saw quite  a lot of dwell folding, one hand go to the river of a  Ac Kc Kd Ts board six way, limped pre and action on flop and turn and quite a few sunglasses

Also seen three ten hand sit-out penalties for action out of turn, including firstly this chap Kieran Edginton who insisted I take his photo. I said yes if he would sign up to the forum. He said "yes" and thus immortalised on here

Wiiii embarrassing if I go busto before actually getting my hands on it. Come tell my table there is a bounty on me, might get 9 ppl signing up on the break.

Edit: mr trumpet kindly gave me it not so discretely.

We're five way at the river of  5c 8h 4s 9h 2d

Chris Greaves in the small blind leads for 800 into 1,200

All pass

He is called in one spot

He shows  Qh 2s

His opponent mucks

I am sure big stuff is going off elsewhere, but need to be in the right place at the right time

tikay tells me he has 48,000. This would make him the chip leader

He actually has 7,000, which is approaching a low enough stack to be his comfort zone, after an accident with Jacks

Shogun is out. Started at 10k, went to 6k, doubled to 12k with QQ, dribbled down to 9k, got it in with AQ v 10-10. Hit his Queen, but was re-binked.

Disappointing given he had QQ,KK and 99-JJ 8 times today!

Alisonthefish Holder is out

Extremely reluctant to tell me how she exited, as she was intending to lie to leethefish about it when she got home!!!

Anyway, she limped with Ahrt 2h out of position (good start...) after two early limpers

The blind raised and Mrs Fish thought that he was squeezing, and everyone called anyway, including her

flop  Qh 6h 2s

Nice flop Ma'am

The blind checks, she calls 2,000 from early position, the blind shoved. Mrs leethefish thinks she has to go with it with 6,000 behind, and is up against  Qs Qd

She misses twice

In her defence she says "I win a big pot or not. I've got college tomorrow 10am-4pm so it was get a big stack or else"

A meesage to leethefish "I would like a Vodka, Lemonade and Lime ready for when I am home in 40 minutes please"

About 18,000 which is slightly below average

Impossible to keep up with the carnage here, 20 lost in the first ten minutes after the break

The club is putting on a £50 with a Super 50 structure at 5pm tomorrow if anyone fancies that

Hi All

We will have approx 370 players returning for Day 2 tomorrow at 1pm and should lose at least 120 by 5pm so have decided to add a £50 comp.

Structure will be the same as a Super 50 with 10,000 chips 30 minute clock and it will definitely be capped depending on dealer availability with alternates / late reg for first 4 levels.

Cheers

ACES

PS: Predicting 105 - 115 will be left tonight.
