Toby Lewis has just done me a favour by knocking out Nicodemos Protopapas, if only so I don't have to type that name out hundreds of times today!

There is a £500 high-roller one day event starting in about 8 minutes. Nik Persaud, JP Kelly, Middy spotted among the players waiting...

More entrants = More prizes? Just a guess

Didnt mean this to sound sarcastic btw lol, have no idea of runners. My guess is it was guaranteed at 250 runners, has gone over that and past the next threshold that changes the prize structure

Assuming this. I took the prize info from one of Tighty's day 1 updates as was late leaving (and reading cambridgealex's diary update which I think also said 82k). Can confirm it's definitely 77k now.

Somethings gone wrong somewhere. According to the website, the %age payout doesnt change after going over 224 runners?

It says the main prize pool stays the same though. Just the few extra runners get 1.5x buyin

I don't understand. if the extra runners each put in 1x buyin you need some money from somewhere for the .5s innit.

Assuming 10% of the field paid, then if there were 220 or 229 runners, then still 22 get paid? Therefore no extra place paid, or am i wrong?

Incidentally, Wadham doubled up recently all in pre with A-A against Terry Mitford's 9-9.

Lee Cockroft also doubled through in a similar scenario - all in pre against Mohammad Fateni, Cockroft's J-J was good against Fateni's 8-8.

Nick Wright is out after he raised in MP to 3.7k (playing 33k) with Js Jc. Matt Perrins 3-bet to 8.6k with Ad Td and called Wright's 4-bet jam. The board was a cruel 5s 6c 7h 8d 9c with the J-J getting cracked the hard way to send Wright home.

Post by: KarmaDope on July 23, 2011, 03:18:45 PM
Alex has about 300k after this hand:

"Flushy raised the button, and..."

Flushy interjects: "Yeah, I raised the button, it's true."

"...I 3-bet from the SB. The BB (Mohammed Istakhar Sadiq) cold 4-bets by just throwing a load of chips in. I shove and he snap calls. I have Kings, he has Jacks, and I flop a set."

Flushy again interjects: "My Ten-Six of spades wouldn't have won, although I did flop a flush!"

So Alex made kings full to knock out Sadiq and rise to 300k. As I'm getting told this story, Robert Cowen opens to 4100 UTG. Kevin Brown calls but Flushy 3-bets to 13,500, which is about a third of his stack. Peter Evans then cold 4-bets to 27000, Cowen and Brown get out of the way and Flushy shoves. Evans calls and they both have K-K.

No four-flushes and the pot is chopped.

Post by: KarmaDope on July 23, 2011, 03:28:09 PM
Table Flushy/Alex has been broken.

Basharat Mahmood has been crippled after running Kings into Tristan McDonald's Aces.

Lee Cockroft has 150k now after cracking Andrew Allen's Aces with K-Q, the board running out K-6-Q-9-K.

Regarding the prize money thing.

I'm pretty sure it's because the system calculated the payouts based on the 170 odd that started yesterday with a prizepool of 250k.

Now that the day 1a players are added it's more than 250k but split between more players.

Didnt think about this. Even though it was guaranteed at 250 runners, it only paid 170, so theres a drastic change.

Ironside: I can't get anywhere near the feature table right now.

Rob Yong just arrived and was sat next to Alex Goulder. His first hand, he folded.. his second hand, he raised to 5k. Patryk Slusarek 3-bet and Rob jammed for not much more. Slusarek called and his Aspades Qh was ahead of Rob's 9c 4c. The A-Q held despite a sweat on the Qs 3c 6c 7d 7s board and Rob was eliminated.

With regard to payouts, dont know whether this had been covered on the blog already, but the DTD site says 27 paid......they usually round it to a number divisible by 9 (9 on a table) first spot is £77k ....27th is £1.5k

The cleverly named high roller which is 1/2 the buyin of the main event :D

Does anyone have sound on the live feed? tried it on two macs with different browsers and there is no sound?

no sound but enjoying the feed. ronaldo is playing some good stuff. foxy is being the fox tho
awesome poker from foxy...who else could get ronaldo to laydown an over pair to the board with a re raise on the river.

I see your point but the High Roller is 5 x todays buy in, so for small punters a chance to play a bigger tourney against some big names, shame there are not more runners!

It's a High Roller Super50 6-max.

In other words, haven't got a clue why!

The last hi roller tourney i was around was at the black belt london live.....think it had 22-25 runners was over in less than 2 hours and they did a 5 or 6 way chop, was a farce of a tourney, if this one was £2 or £2.5k as it shud be, how many runners would be in it??? lucky to get 20 imo so credit to DTD they seem to know their market.... looked like the £250k guarantee on the MC was gonna have a 20k overlay at one point, but they met that. The guarantees attract the players and the £1/4 mill for the GP in Aug, for a 60 euro buy in, is phenomenal!

The camera's not working properly. Awesome.

As I headed over to table 14, I spotted cambridgealex had been moved to Table Langshaw/Jack/Perrins/Sheamus/Ferguson. He was in a hand with Kate Langshaw, after Kate bet 7k on a Qd 7h Jd Kc board. Alex raised to 20k and Kate tank-folded.

2 hands later (or the next hand, not entirely sure, I turned away for a bit) Langshaw was again betting 7k on the turn. This time the board was 4d 2h Tc 7c and her opponent, Vach Nankoosing, raised to 17k. This time Langshaw raised to 100k and Nankoosing called all in with 9c 8c for a MASSIVE draw. Langshaw had one of his outs, the Jc, as well as the Jh and they held on the 5s river to eliminate Nankossing and send Langshaw to 300k.

60k.

As I got there, an interesting spot was being played out preflop. Alex Goulder raised from the hijack, only for Matt Perrins to 3-bet to 16.2k from the button. Goulder then 4-bet to 36k only for Perrins to push all in. Shaking his head, Alex passed.

I've just seen Mitch win a hand (first time today, for me as I can't watch the stream) when he raised Huu Loung Bui's 5900 bet to 21k on a 4h 5c Qc flop.

Sam Welbourne is out after he shoved A-9 short and ran into Alex Ferguson's Q-Q.

"The cleverly named high roller which is 1/2 the buyin of the main event"

Your point was quite simply put.....one line!.... so to say i dont get it is a little condescending, no need for that buddy the blog is supposed to be a friendly place, I agree strongly that they could have chosen a different name for the event...i was simply stating that the event itself was a good idea and that it fitted in well with the rest of the festival, shame there wasnt a guarantee on that one as it might have been better supported!

I spotted a mountain of chips over at table 14 but when I got there, they were mainly ante chips.

However, the board was Qc 7h 5c and Alex Goulder had bet 7500, only to see Greek Jack raise to 20k. Alex thought for a bit before raising to 100k, effectively putting Jack at risk. Jack called them off with Tc 8c onlyo to see Alex turn over a set - 7c 7s

Alex's hand held on the Jh turn and Kd river, sending Jack home in 50th.

Blinds are 2000/4000-400.

Paul Birkett has been crippled after losing with A-K vs Daniel Beswick's A-A, all in preflop.

Are we playing a £1k comp?

We just dropped from 41 to 35 in the space of one hand.

I would recommend you watch the stream for a start. Also, Paul Birkett got his bowl in and is out, along with Andrew Allen. It now looks like nobody wants to sit next to Mitch...

Joobs is on the way with the last exit.

We have a new chip leader (I think).

And you lot know him. It's Daniel Rudd.

He got it all in on a T-9-Q flop with Q-Q, and covered David Hide who put in 250k with K-K. No scares on the 5-6 turn and river.

Rudd has about 600k now (and Mitch two to his left, that could be very interesting...)

[   ] Camera is working.

The issue I have with my cameras is that I don't own my own camera. I borrow off friends and family. The one I have this weekend is useless without a flash - and the flash is so bright, players have asked me not to use it. Sorry.

Table 15 is a corker. Rudd in 2, chipped up. Mitch in 4, above average. Alex in 5, with more than Mitch.

And Toby Lewis in 8.

lost one on table 12

I arrive as the river is dealt,  the board is Jd Ad 4s 7s 8s  seat 5 Patryk Slusarek has declared all in he has more than enough chips to cover Tristan Mcdonald in seat 1.

the pot is a rather nice size of 125k so this call does require a lot of consideration.

Tristan tanks... and tanks... and we wait some more while the waitress comes over delivers his coffee, he pays for his drink before finally calling.

Patryk shows Ahrt Kh and Tristian mucks quickly leaves the table in 35th  abandoning his drink.

15   2   Daniel Rudd - 600k
15   3   Lee Cockroft - 200k
15   5   Mitchell Johnson - 270k
15   6   Alex Goulder - 300k
15   7   Daniel Beswick - 170k
15   8   Toby Lewis - 125k

Hand 1: Button is Rudd.

Folded to Rudd who raises to 8.4k. Johnson defends and they see a board of Ks Aspades 4d. Both check and then both check the 2d turn. Mitch bets 11.8k on the Jh river and Rudd folds.

Hand 2: Button is Cockroft.

Lewis raises to 9k. All fold.

Hand 3: Button is Johnson.

Folded to Johnson who makes it 9.1k. Goulder flats from the SB and Beswick folds. Goulder check-calls 8k on a Qh Th Jc flop and both check the 2s turn. Alex bets 14k on the Aspades river and Mitch quickly folds. Student 1, Master 0.

Hand 4: Button is Goulder.

Rudd folds. Cockroft makes it 10k which sounded like "all-in" to me. I'm going deaf. Mitch asks how much Cockroft is playing behind and makes it 26k. All fold to Cockroft who shoves. Mitch snap-folds.

Hand 5: Button is Beswick.

Folded to Goulder who makes it 8.5k. Rudd defends the BB. Alex bets 9k on a Aspades 4s 6s flop and Rudd passes.

Hand 6: Button is Lewis.

Table breaks as blinds are being posted.

Gerald Mcinally handed his chips over to Nathan Lee when his Ac 6d came up against Nathan's Ad Ks.

Gerald left us in 33rd and we are now 5 from the money.

Alex Ferguson just managed to avoid getting relegated being eliminated. He shoved over the top of an Alex Goulder (who has been moved back to his old seat, 14/4) raise with Ad 8d but Goulder snapped him off, as you do with Ac Ahrt.

The board ran out Kc Jc 5h Qs Td for a split pot.

Should be fun, Ward is also seated directly to Rudd's left.

Something on the card is readable. Not sure if it's a small chip or a barcode that can't be seen by the naked eye.

Before the break, Alex Goulder along with Matt Perrins had been raping their table. Goulder min raised to 10k again and this time Dinh Le 3-bet to 20k. Goulder tanked then 4-bet to 47k. Le folded very quickly and Goulder casually flipped over 7h 4c.

Since then the only person who has won a pot preflop on that table not named Goulder has been named Perrins.

we're still on the bubble and not much is happening so i've come back up here, I'm testing a theory... a watched pot never boils so i can only assume a watched bubble never bursts.

Meh, Fox opened and he peeled with QQ from a 15bb stack, should have just jammed his stack in the middle, the fact the bb wakes up with kings is irrelevant

All in and a call!

Sadly, it's a double up. Alex Ferguson jammed Kc Qs and Rohail Shabir called with Aspades Jc

The board ran out 2c 3d Ks Js Th to give Ferguson the double up. Both are still short though, less than 100k each.

Although it's the bubble period, the structure means we have an average chip count of approximately 45bbs and this coupled with bubble nittiness means that this is probably the longest bubble I've ever updated...and it shows no sign of bursting. The only table that seems to play flops is Table 11, and that's only because Anon keeps flatting preflop. There haven't been any big pots either.

Mitch Johnson just lost a 300k pot when he paid off a turn bet of 40k as well as a river bet of 95k when his opponent in the hand rivered a straight. He's down to about 100k.

Sadly, I was posting above when this happened and this was all the info Alex could give me as Joobs was watching table 11.

Bubble has FINALLY burst!!

Dan Rudd raised to 13k and Danny Toffel called. Nathan Lee then shoved from the blinds. Rudd folded but Toffel just said "I have Aces, I'm sorry" and called, indeed flipping Aspades Ac. Lee groaned and flipped Ad Qh. The flop gave Lee outs, 2h Th Js but the board finished 4s Js to send Lee to the rail in 28th, finally breaking the 2hr bubble.

Alex Ferguson out 27th for £1,500. He open-shoved for 50k with A-9 but Rohail Shabir in the BB found 9-9 and called. No bink for Ferguson and he is the first person to exit in the money positions.

Alex Goulder is up to 600k after he just eliminated Dinh Le.

Goulder min-raised to 16k but Le 3-bet from the BB to 38k. Goulder called and we saw a Jc Qs 2h flop. Le check-raised all in and Goulder snap-called, as you do with 2h 2d. Le could only flip Aspades Qc and was drawing dead on the 3d turn.

There has also been an elimination on the feature table. That's all I can tell you.

Absolute pandemonium here.

The dealers on the feature table are mic'd up with earphones as I'm sure you can see. This is to help with placement of cards etc for sensors I believe.

Anyway, as we broke to 3 tables, the dealer was told through her headphones that they had to stop dealing and do a table chipcount for the stream.

The clock continued to tick away.

Needless to say, the players on that table were not happy and TD Kevin has had to pause the tournament so that a chipcount can be done on the feature table - despite a break in 35 minutes.

Break for 20 minutes.

Terry Mitford has just been eliminated. James Clarke raised to 22k and Mitford shoved for 130k. Clarke called and it was a race.

Mitford: 5-5

Clarke: A-9

The board ran out 9-7-T-T-7 to give Clarke the pot and send Mitford home in 22nd.

At that point the update needs to cover both tables, otherwise its not a proper update,  so Adam will cover both as normal

No, the live stream is 30 minutes behind.

Hugh "h" Black has just been eliminated in 20th after grinding a short stack for 2 days. He eventually found 4-4 with about 15 bigs and shoved, but Dan Rudd had A-Q and won the race on a Q-6-T-7-A board.

He's pretty happy, after turning 3 euro's into £1500.

James Woodruff is out in 18th.

He pushed on the turn of a Kh 4c 8d Jc board with Qh Th and was called by Kevin Brown with Ks 8h. The river was the 5h and Woodruff exits in 19th.

There has also been an exit on the feature table which means we are now down to 2 tables.

just brought the stream up, only caught the end of the hand so not 100%. but did matey get away from qq easily to a 3 bettor who held kk. from what i saw qq lost minimum.. or is it bubble time 30 minutes ago?? anyone..

Meh, Fox opened and he peeled with QQ from a 15bb stack, should have just jammed his stack in the middle, the fact the bb wakes up with kings is irrelevant

i peeled with a plan
wanted chips in middle my expectation was initial raiser would be betting out / calling off any flop
was also plenty of others big stacks to come over top intention was to snap call initial raiser and or bigger stack / more active players initial raiser had folded previously when i had shoved so wanted to get paid
plan needed quick revision when the 3 bet came
why ?

1 where it came from
was not expecting action from this stack size

2. physical
Adrenalin was pumping through this guy had seen it earlier but to a lesser extent when he was waiting in BB with no action he showed qq

3 bet size
he didn't have much back SO why not all in ?

Gog's in head went

want to believe hes got AK but cant believe it
if he just wants the fold surely all in

so he wants a call

that leaves me with
AA
KK
QQ
and JJ

I Still want to believe hes got AK but have convinced my self he has not

that leaves me with has he got QQ or JJ ?

now oddly enough thought came into my head here its being live streamed don't need to call to find out

so beating JJ chopping with QQ Crushed by other two options

had no problem folding
would have not problem with my if i later found out he had jj or 10 10 or a2 or any other 2 had convinced myself i was behind

ps home now reading updates

why the fck didn't Any one warn me about chili

mind you no adverse reaction and mine tasted very nice

thank you to dtd first class experience
fantastic job on updates

and enjoyed playing with the great, the good, bad and ugly of uk poker
( the ones that were there that is )

good night all
