Title: UKIPT Edinburgh
Post by: FUN4FRASER on July 31, 2011, 05:17:06 PM
Beware  ! ..The Edinburgh festival starts on The 12Th of August and the place will be absolutely packed, especially come  the following weekend for the UKIPT .

I know first hand as I'm taking the girlfriend  there for the weekend  on The 12Th and getting a room in advance has been a nightmare. If they have got availability  (rare )the prices are not cheap and even worse if you are thinking of driving as apparently there are parking problems too  (I eventually got a room £610 for 2 nights including parking)

Maybe look a bit closer to home and make a concerted effort to make Day 2 of The Dusk Till Dawn Grand Prix which isnt going to cost at least £500 in accommodation and is not 280 miles away .

Seems better value for money   :)

Someone was asking why the Stars packages for this included £1000 for the accomodation...

Just don't get why they have this here at this time.  It pretty much puts it out of the budget of any sensible grinders.

looks like good advice, but in your current capacity as a promoter for dtd - you should leave the last 2 lines out for credability

just sayin

Yes, I'm sure the UKIPT has a big impact on the nr of rooms available during festival time in Edinburgh ;)

Its great for people winning packages to be there during the festival, terrible for anyone else thinking of travelling for it

If you look at Laterooms.com and dont mind staying in accomodation that is not 5* i managed to pick up a room at the Queen Margaret university which is 1mile out of edinburgh for £52.50 per night for thurs - saturday nights inclusive and only 3 miles from the corn exchange.

Last year was exactly the same but I managed to get an apartment on the quay somewhere. The corn exchange as a venue was more tilting

If you want to pay a monkey for a std hotel room for the night and be unable to get a decent restaurant reservation it probably is.

Other option is book a house a few miles away and chop the cost with your mates. We've got a 4 bed house (with 2 dbl sofa beds as well) for like £800 for 4 nights.

The hotel cost was the reason I refused to go to Brighton. Abso redic charging £250 a night for a £500 tourney esp with all the other costs.

bust the tourney and have a great night out and/or weekend somewhere different

don't think it's at all close between that or being stuck on an industrial estate

Bit misleading this ^
Taking GF to Festival and need top city center hotel to ensure jollies = £610 for 2 nights
If you are going to UKIPT with a few mates and prepared to share and stay out of center (or Edinburgh) then plenty options on laterooms.  Dakota at Forth Bridge is an excellent hotel and probably £20 cab fare to venue or train to Haymarket and £7 cab ride. Parking problems relate to city center all year round.
