Ask claypole how he got on with his QQ UTG plz tighty.

R Aulja raised and Claypole 3 bet in the big blind, not UTG

Called

flop J-3-4

Claypole leads for half the pot called

turn 4

Claypole leads for 6,000, raised to 16,000

Claypole folds

He's a bit sensitive about it, as I found out

Post by: TightEnd on September 16, 2011, 02:52:18 PM
Whilst I was watching Claypole limped UTG and it ends up a five way limped pot

flop  2s 3s 3h

checked round

turn  4c

checked to Claypole who bets 500, called in two spots

river  2h

all three check the double paired board

Claypole shows  Aspades 5s for flopped straight flush draw, turned straight, river scared, to win

End of 2 levels. Break

106 of 109 remain

blinds 100-200 next

average 50,500

Early double upper James O'Connor is the only >100,000 stack I can see

Karl Mahrenholz going well on 70,000

I have spent the last level walking around trying to find juicy hands, failing miserably. My luck will turn after the break, I hope. Groundhog updaters day needs some action......

good old Dreenie is always good value for an update

She is in the midst of a prolonged argument with this fella, Martin Dietrich, who sounds like a cross between Donald Duck on helium and Eddie Izzard

Nico29 and cambridgealex are sparring like good'uns

Andy Moy limps for 200

Dom Nico Kay 700 UTG+1

Small blind calls

Alex 3,100 in the big blind

Kay 8,000 when the action returns to him with about 23,000 behind

After a think Alex sets him in

Kay passes after a lean back, a ruffle of some tousled hair and an enigmatic look towards Goulder

Only one winner in this battle so far. Goulder over 75,000, Kay down to 23,000

Phil Pratt limps, as does Alex Goulder and Dominic Kay checks in the big blind with K-8

Flop 6-8-8

Kay check calls a lead from Pratt, Goulder calls too

turn J

Kay check raises Pratt, called

Heads up to a 4 river

Kay shoves (about twice a pot bet by this point), called by A-J

He has doubled back to his starting stack

"just so I can give them to Alex again"

Brummieboy calls me over and tells me the storyof his tournament so far

He was down to 30,000 in the first level

Had Aces on 2-3-7-9. He was check raised on the turn, and called down to be met by 9-7 which had cold called a four bet pre

Had Kings on J-5-7-8. He was check raised on the turn and called down to be met by J-8

Steaming, he has apparently barrelled everything since, mainly at the expense of Steve Holden, and has got to 55,000 without a hand or showing one!

The secret diary of cambridgealex, aged 15

Phil Pratt limps

Alex Goulder makes it 650 at 100-200

Andy Moy and Pratt call

flop  Aspades 8h 2h

Pratt leads for 750.

Goulder calls

Moy makes it 2,500

Pratt calls

Goulder now bumps it up to 9000

Moy calls!

Pratt folds

With me so far?

turn  9c

Goulder leads for 18,000

Moy calls

river  2s

Goulder jams 26,000

Moy tanks, and tanks, and tanks. Holding  Ac 8s

He folds

The table is absolutely convinced Alex has made a big bluff

Remind me to reveal Alex's hand later if the table breaks, he wrote it down for me

Or you can guess the hand

Meanwhile, young Alex is back grinding the monopoly

Well I have just spent the last ten minutes watching situations evolve on possibly the least savoury tournament table I have seen

I spoke earlier about the tension between Martin Dietrich and dreenie Nutt

This ratched up a notch after a hand in which Matthew Perry had bet 12,000 on the river of 6-7-2-9-2

Dietrich, not in the hand, calls the clock on Nutt.

As a purely independent observer, this felt quick to me, a matter of a few minutes rather than 5-10 minutes

Nutt passes before any of her minute is up, once the clock is called

Perry shows, no throws, Q-J off across the table

Nutt then hands her stack to Dietrich and says "go on, you have them, I have had enough"

Another player, W Jong (Continental European) then tells Nutt

"If you can't stand losing a hand, get out of the competition"

Charming

The TD comes over as voices raise, several conversations taking place simultaneously

Nutt tells the TD that "you have to break this table next or else I am leaving"

She got up, and hasn't been back to the table since

The European players then begin arguing with the TD when he gives them a warning for abusive words

Williams 43,000. I hear he lost a sizeable pot just before dinner

I am putting two and two together and hypothesising that this was to George Bedi who took over a 39k stack and within an orbit was at 60k in the six minutes he played before dinner

My own dinner? I pulled a masterstroke and got myself classified as staff, hence a free Chinese meal with the dealers

Chicken Currey
Rice
Noodles
Vegetables

Chocolate doughnut

The Chocolate doughnut was from Tesco not the Chinese restaurant in house though

Peter garrett limps in mid position

Dreenie Nutt calls in the small blind

big blind checks

flop  Jc 6h Qd

Dreenie leads for 700

Garrett calls

Garrett peaks at his cards, standing behind him I see  6c 6d

He wants me to see. Show off

turn  5s

Dreenie leads for 2,500

Uh oh

Garrett calls

river  6s

Dreenie leads for 7,500, into Quads, unknowingly

Garrett is playing 40,000 now

He min raises to 15,000 (more, surely?)

is called, flips his Quads for effect and gets a concerted murmur of approval from the table

Meanwhile James Williams and George Bedi are in full jousting mode

Saw Williams 4 bet Bedi, and elicit a fold

Saw each call a raise from the other twice, bringing three others into the pot each time.

Karl Mahrenholz on the table, as chip leader on that table, is watchful and not involved too much as the youngsters, and Bedi, spar

Dreenie raises UTG

Dom Kay defends his big blind

flop is 6-6-Q

Kay check raises and is called

Kay barrels the 5 turn

Called

Kay sets Dreenie in on the 2 river

She has about 30,000 behind

She calls

This is now a 110,000 pot

Kay has to show 10-9 for complete air

Dreen ie has called the flop check raise, turn and called all in on the river with

A-10 for Ace high, which is good

No word of a lie, six of the players at the table tap the table, tell her it was a world class call, "sick" "brilliant"

Dom Kay sticks his tongue out to himself, shakes his head

Great heart and balls by both

P Mozin in the green hoodie who is, ahem, the value according to several at the table

raises at the new level 400-800

Karl Mahrenholz calls on the button

flop  6d 2s 5c

Mozin leads, Mahrenholz calls

turn  8h

check check

river  8d

Mozin checks and tells Mahrenholz to "value bet it"

Mahrenholz bets 3,000

Mozin calls

Mahrenholz shows  3h 6h and is good, against a mucked but verbally claimed Ace-King

James Williams gives Karl an appreicative, almost adoring, smile

Sadly Karl missed it

I only join the hand half way through but there is 21,000 in the middle when Peter Jacobi UTG bets 11,000 on

 6h 9s Jc

Dreenie Nutt in the big blind leans back, chuckles to herself, and passes  Qd Qh face up

Jacobi cocks his head and Grimaces, exaggeratedly taps the table in front of dreenie, flips Ks, I am assuming he had Kings

Walking down to the lower level I catch another hand half way through

The player in seat 10 (sorry, late entrants are not on the seating list) bets 2,000 and Michelle Sheils makes it 6,000 on

 8s 7s 5h

she is called

turn  5s

Seat 10 bets 12,000

Michelle shoves 37,000

She cannot believe it when Seat 10 folds

"anyone else at the table I call, but you haven't folded all day" she tells her opponent as she flips

4s 6s for the turned straight flush

She now has about 65,000

Dreenie rushes past me and I eventually catch up with her

"Not out are you?" I enquire

"Yes, well they tilted me" she replies

"How?" I ask

"Well that hand you saw, the big blind has only called for value because two others call. If they pass pre he's not in the hand. my move should get through on 8-5-5"

"What did you have on 8-5-5?"

"Not a lot"

"So it tilted you?"

"Yes, shouldn't have been in the hand"

"and your exit?"

she describes.......

J Winston makes it 4,100

Michelle Sheils flats

Dreenie with 40,000 shoves 6-6 in the big blind

Winston folds

Sheils calls with A-K and wins the race

p.s Great game, but if only she didn't tilt. Anyone know a book for that?

Marcin Milde and Jamie O'Connor are on the same table

Milde was down to 80,000 when his nAKhh beat O'Connor's QQ in a 160,000 pot

O'Connor down to 80,000

New chip leader today, Michelle Sheils with 220,000

two key hands

She raised with  Qs Qd after Jim Tierney limped, and then he called

flop  7h 8h 9s

check, Tierney bet Sheils check raised and was called

turn  4h

Shields leads, called

river  Qh giving her the top set but on a four heart board

She checks, Tierney bets  and Michelle tank calls.

She is good against  Ac 6d

Same orbit she has KK on the button, Richard Haile QQ in the big blind, Kings hold, all in pre.
