Who are the finalists?

Rick Trigg

Trigg goes into the final as a big chip leader having dominated the competition for two days. From Sheffield, "actionman" on blonde has a long online pedigree and is a former GUKPT finalist, at Newcastle in 2007. Finalled a WSOP event this summer. Has commen ted that event first place would not "get me out of make up".  Perhaps it might get him to Next for men for a makeover, too....

Lee Taylor

Lee is a mature student from Bolton, a consistent and genial fixture on the festival circit over the last 18 months. Twice a GUKPT finalist last year at Brighton and Blackpool, and fresh off a UKIPT side event win at Dublin last month.

Carl Spicer

Carl's first major final table, having appeared in a number of festival events this year. I believe he is from Thanet way

Apologies for the photo

Stephen Brown

"Broonie" on blonde, I first met Stepehen when he played APAT events a few years ago. From the West Midlands I believe. A regular at DTD, and has already surpassed his best previous GUKPT finish, 25th at Walsall

Sam Grafton

4th in GUKPT Manchester last year, Sam is better known as an Online success under the names "sammy_grinder" and "TheSquid" being a dual Triple Crown winner, in consecutive weeks no less. Life and soul of any table, and a real rising star of the live game in the UK

Julian Thew

Sky Poker sponsored Julian Thew has the greatest pedigree of all at the final. EPT Baden winner, dual GUKPT Winner, DTD Monte Carlo winner this May which signalled a return to form after a lean time. Would, of course, be the first three time GUKPT winner were he to triumph today. Universally liked and respected, a fantastic ambassador for Sky Poker. Happy birthday to Julian today, too

Stuart Rutter

Reigning GUKPT Coventry champion, GCasino sponsored, The Firm poker sponsored, the man has badges to spare...This is his fourth GUKPT Main event final, and he is fresh off a third in the EPT Mixed game championships in London

Nicholas Fellone

From Nottingham, a DTD regular in all the deepstacks and this is his first major final

Last but not least, the pair of One Way Poker players are the final table shortstacks

Brian Sheppard

From Swansea, a final tabler in the GUKPT Club event at Swansea last year. No t to be confused with Frank Romanello, which I managed this week

Adriano Luzzi

Second in the DTD Deepstack in march, round a shortstack all day yesterday to join his compatriot on the final

Those are your finalists.

Could be fun this afternoon, as the final table area has been set up right at the back of the building, and wifi reception could be a challenge as we're below ground by a couple of floors

We'll see, please join me for what should be a corking final later

However, this stream has potential if the quality was better.

I'd be surprised if anybody watches it. It's not very good at all.

I just put it on because Tighty asked for people's thoughts.

Yeah I put it on for five minutes and then turned it off.  I can't make out the graphics at all and without any idea of bet sizes etc it just becomes a game of waiting for big hands which Tighty does better anyway.

Rich,

Is this the same group who done the APAT streams?

Picture and graphic quality is very poor.

Geo

No this is D 4 events, not NutzTV

I didn't ask, to make it clear, to brew up a storm..was just interested because the set up here for the stream is very good, lots of resource and effort put into it by the Tour

I think any issues with quality is down to network/wifi connection, not equipment

So with sub 20x bb stacks for the bottom six stacks here, with 8 left..its moving and grooving time..some funky 3 bet shoving stacks around

Trigg has won the first pot after the break with a raise to 28,000. Don't expect him to let up the pressure on the shorter-stacks at all

Good to get the feedback for them though as live streaming is a big bonus when done well.

FWIW Phil always good on the mic and Nicky Romanello has been pleasant to listen to.

Doubt it Rich- APAT streamed from Cov no worries. I am not knocking D4 as they're trying to bring us a stream which is brill but they need to sort out quality issues otherwise there's very little point

Don't think so Rich.

The speed of the stream is spot on and you get to see this when the dealer is shuffling.

That particular cam is actually quite good.

It's the main cam which gives an overview of the whole table and Trigg's back that's poor.

Thanks for the feedback, most of it I am aware of and taking steps to improve, the major one being the actual picture quality on the stream. This is down to the picture quality limits on livestream. What is being uploaded is much higher than what you see. Check out the youtube channel to see quality it is being filmed in (even this is lower than the actual master quality).

I have settled for lower image quality rather than the freezing and stuttering which I have seen on other streams.

We have some other options that we are testing that will greatly improve the picture quality and make the graphics useful for viewers. At the moment the graphics help the commentators more than they help you :)

The graphic software is new and already we have found some glitches so it's probably best that you can't see them...

We have a new custom shape TV table being delivered soon which will allow us better camera angles, much like what you see on a TV Show. At the moment we adjust them as players get knocked out. When we use our full stage the angles tend to better also.

Please keep the feedback coming. I listen to it all and we will use it to get the best all round stream possible.

Julian Thew Receives Third GUKPT Title for his Birthday

Julian Thew has bagged an unprecedented third title on the GUKPT over this October weekend at G Casino, Coventry, winning £42,740 – on his birthday, no less.  The (now) 44 year old professional player is the first ever to win a third £1,000 Main Event trophy (his previous two were won in Brighton and Plymouth) and has amassed lifetime winnings of over $2.5 million.

Thew overcame a field of 145, including almost enough prior champions to form their own table.  Among them was Stuart Rutter, winner of last season’s Coventry leg, who finished in a respectable 5th place and took home £9,060.  Fellow GUKPT sponsored pro Jeff Kimber was unfortunate to exit on the bubble, while the main story of the tournament was that of Rick Trigg, aggressively accumulating chips from the very first level to hold the chip lead through all three days.  It was only in the late stages of the final table that Trigg, a professional player from Sheffield, fell from first place, taking the runner up spot behind the ‘golden’ Thew and £30,090.
