Morning.

I will pass on all of the good luck messages shortly, play starts at 2pm.

Personally would love to see all the Blondes do well, particularly George, but would also like all the BRS guys to win, and Mark Physick cause he's from my home town. Hmm. looks like I'm rooting for a 12 way chop then.

Have to say I'm well impressed by Dave J and Sky poker's Cristos, how they both turned very short stacks around to be coming back today as contenders.

I'm off to find some Paracetomol.

Massive hand.

Ben jackson raises

called by terry Owen.

Flop 10 high, Ben bets out with just top set..

Terry flats.

Turn a brick

Ben bets again, Terry raises, Ben min reraises and Terry shoves all of his chips in with

K high.

K 4 to be precise.

He can't win, mucks his cards and 18 year old  Ben Jackson is chip daddy with over 300K.

Clock stopped, mad scenario I've never seen before.

John Miller flats with QQ.

Jack Ellwood raises with JJ.

John goes allin.

jack thinks and calls.

They turn over their hands and the dealer mucks them both.

It was Karl who made the ruling.

I'm lost as to how Derek Miller gets the blinds and antes to be honest.

Anyway, I'll be impressed if he doesn't tilt after this, he was pretty sick. Jack Ellwood, although he was behind with JJ seemed unhappy that Derek didn't get Jack's original raise either, pretty much a real gent.

Paul Jackson has added his opinion: That on the end of every rule list the final rule is the TD's decision if final.

Rather than take the easy option, the most equitable decision would be to take the QQ and JJ out of the deck, reshuffle and play the hand out.

Seems to be everyone thinks this. Rather than the TD.

Good to see that the Grosvenor are living up to their reputation of making absolutely horrid cardroom rulings time and time again.  To say that this is a bad ruling is completely correct but I would go further and say that is absolutely shocking and downright embarrasing for this to have happened in a £1k event.

@"Players responsible for protecting their cards at all times "

The cards were protected.  They were shown face up over the betting line having both been declared all in.  Once a hand has been exposed there is no need for a player to have any concern with it.  Often dealers will scoop a hand in to place it dramatically on either side of the board.  This comment /\ is nonsense.

In this situation the cards should speak.  Everyone knows what the hands are/were and regardless of whether or not an incompetent, stressed or crazy dealer mucks them, burns them or eats them the two hands are still at showdown and a board should be ran out and the hand played on.

If we haven't been given the complete information and the dealer has mucked the hands and then the stub also then this becomes a lot more difficult but the hands should 100% not be declared dead.  Grosvenor should have a procedure for this and a way to reconstruct a board.

I really hope that the TD is disciplined for this, what a joke...

I've seen this happen twice in the Vic and both times the four cards, (which had been clearly tabled and were agreed by all), where left out, the rest of the deck shuffled and the hand dealt out.

I cannot for the life of me see why they would make any other ruling. I also cannot understand how we are about to start year 6 of the tour and they can't have consistent rulings among casinos that are owned by the same company (in the same chain). The other ruling from day 1a where the guy says he's calling if you go all-in and then he folds when the guy goes all-in is not a call according to the Vic, but several people on here said that it was declared a call earlier in the year on the tour.

I'm a massive Jeff Leigh fan, but wasn't the point of having him travel round, I thought part of the remit was to ensure consistency.

I personally have attended very few GUKPTs this year because I felt they just weren't listening to me when I offered constructive criticism, or they were listening but nothing ever got done.

Black Belt have put £200,000 in entries into the tour in past years but this year the number was under £30,000. We have given our business to the UKIPT.

My 2 cents:

Use camera to help where available. Don't agree that if you don't have a camera on every table you can't use them where you do

If still not possible to determine who had which suits I would take the 4 queens out of the deck, shuffle them and give 2 random ones to the relevant player and repeat with the jacks to give to the other player. Shuffle the deck and deal the hand out.

Any common sense attempt to resolve the situation has to be better than an over eagerness to kill players' hands when they have done nothing wrong

Karl

The turning point for me in making my decision not to support the tour as I have very loyally in the past was the terrible dealing at this exact leg.

I have been a regular visitor to Blackpool in past years but I wasn't going to be treated the way they treated me there last year. I remember one dealer was just awful but the worse thing was the surly and arrogant attitude.

In the PLO tournament I think there were 5-prizes but of course we had to play hand-4-hand at 10 players because we were about to make the final. It was 1am and no points were available for coming 9th, 8th etc. I constantly asked why this was and they seemed to relish telling me it was Grosvenor policy and there was nothing they could do. There was something I could do though and that is why I am not there.

I didn't play the Vic leg in March as I wasn't allowed to call up and buy-in as a late alternate on the phone and then turn up a couple of hours later (after the Cheltenham races had finished). I would have to go from my house to the Vic to buy in and then come back and miss a race. They couldn't be flexible - Grosvenor policy. My policy was I won't play then.

Let me also remind anyone who is suprised that this can happen in a tournament with such a big prize that there was an incident in this same event last year.

With around twelve players remaining the dealer mucked the hand of a plyer who was all-in.

My memory of the exact circumstances is hazy but I believe in this situation there were players to act and although this would be a terrible way to be knocked out of a big comp the player had simply not protected theirhand. Obviously the dealer was at fault but the player had the ultimate responsibilty.

In a very dangerous precedent I remember that the player just lost the amount of the original raise and was still in the event.

Maybe someone can tell the story EXACTLY as it happened but I knew then these people could not be relied on to handle this money.

If these kind of mistakes were made with Grosvenor's money in the pit they would be sacked instantly.

Maybe someone can tell the story EXACTLY as it happened but I knew then these people could not be relied on to handle this money.

If these kind of mistakes were made with Grosvenor's money in the pit they would be sacked instantly.

there was an incident like this last year maybe tighty will remember the details

From what I saw on the stream, everyone knew the players had QQ and JJ, but couldn't be sure on the suits.  If the QQ and JJ are mucked and back in the middle of the deck, how do you know what suits they are?  Surely you can't just root through the deck and pull out the 1st 2 jacks and queens you find!

Big pot.

darren Hickman raises on button, called in BB by Barry Grimes.

Flop

Js 3c 10s

Barry check raises darren's flop bet to which darren comes back with an allin of a further 65K.

Barry tanks for a bit and makes the eventual call with J5. Top pair.

Darren turns over KK

turn and river Q Q

Darren wins a monster pot.

Also the ruling yesterday where player A raises, B 3 bets. Player A asks for a count and whilst B is counting his stack the dealer deals the flop. As player A is unable to stop the dealer before the 1st 2 cards of the flop are dealt, his hand is ruled dead

This is a worse ruling than the JJ QQ hand IMO.

There has been a desperate need for a consistent set of rules and there implementation for years, and yet many of us keep on accepting these crap rulings. I think Neil's non playing stand is good, but what we possibly need is a players union, who can help bring some consistency to the industry. It really shouldn't be this hard?

Karl makes a great point - they have cameras.

Of course we all know that while cameras are constantly trained on you throughout if you venture over to play BlackJack or roulette in poker they'll often come back and tell you it was slightly blurred which really means we don't have cameras on this table because they are terribly expensive and it's only poker and not our money.

We are close to selling out Nottingham Live Jason (glad you asked). Don't want to overly spam the thread (just a small spammage), but yes, we are about to release 25 more seats for each day, we may get another 25 if we can sell them quickly. We are selling 20 a day at the moment so they could go on Monday quite easily.

George opens, Marc Foggin raises just over minimum. Andy peters in the SB min raises again. Called by George and Marc.

Flop

5 2 10 rainbow.

George bets out, Marc passes, Andy tanks and declares all in.

George folds without too much thought.

Lot of play going on on this table, George seems to be making most of them.

Absolutely horrible ruling. If that is the rule then obviously everyone should get their chips back as the hand is declared dead. If the hand is deemed to have too much action and live then the last remaining player should be awarded the pot, in this case split. But if the TD had any common sense then they would realise how fucking easy it would be to cheat (goes without saying that Jack wasn't) if you were mates with the dealer and got it in with horrible equity not to mention pissing off the whole table when the best player there doesn't lose chunks of their stack. The best ruling by far is to do a QQ v JJ run out, how they do it is just semantics.

The camera thing is interesting, nearly every stars venue doesn't have any but there was an incident somewhere this year (can't remember where poss Tallinn) where they referred to them over something.

GL to G2L!

" Bit of controversy here.

Neil Giblin moves all in....Martin Devlin announces all in!!

The dealer then accidentally mucks Martins cards!!!

Zack and Dena discuss a ruling and it's decided that Martin can take his bet back as there is no action behind him. Though Martin does have to put in 8,000 (1 big blind).

What do you think of this ruling??"

The dealer reached around me in seat 1 (Martin Devlin) and scooped seat 2's cards. I'd moved all-in with all of my chips and turned around for a brief second, as the dealer scooped seat 2 cards, he took mine and immediately said woaa mate, I've took your cards, it was that fast I didn't even notice. I had to pay 8,000 chips (1 x bb).

Bad that it happened but mistakes do happen. The ruling is hard as there is no way of 100% determining who had what unless they where on their backs, if the cards are face down I think they've made the right ruling. I would then change the dealer.

Odd ruling. If both players and dealer agree on the two hands fish thecards out. Reshuffle the rest. Deal it out

That seems to be the general consensus here as well.

It wasn't Ian Bryan who made the ruling by the way, just for the Ian Bryan haters!

Had the same happen to me at the UKIPT in Cork called a shorties shove with 10's he turns over 57s, dealer puts cards in middle of table then mucks them, had same ruling there as well.

Deck should never be let go until hand is over

This is not true, once the river card is dealt, it is standard practice for the dealer to spread the deck on the felt and let it go.

Wasnt Marcel Luske and some others coming up with a comprehensive set of rules at one time ? So bizarre that there is no uniform set of rules to cover such mistakes (and everything else like to arise) when so much money is at stake. Having said that, getting dealers to pay attention to what is going on is more of a training issue than a rule issue..... another matter which also needs addressing. If i might be so bold...

Think he's only really been played back at once, when George opened, Jon Prested 3 bet, Ben 4 bet, George got out of the way and JP II 5 bet all in then waved Q 4 off in Ben's face as he folded.

Anna Astley hanging on with two ten bigs.

On her table, Ming lee opens, Jamie Oconnor 3 bets him from the BB.

Minky calls.

Flop

4h 8d As

Minky bets, jamie calls.

Both check turn

River
As

Jamie declares allin.

Ming Lee sits for ever and eventually asks if he is allowed to show his hand.

(Paul Bracken leaves the table at this point)

Floor declares his hand isnt dead if he shows his cards as other player is allin and no others in the pot.

Post by: mouth on November 12, 2011, 08:03:46 PM
So... Ming lee turns over his 10 10.

Obviously hoping for some sort of read from Jamie - who incidentally has his head covered by a hoody and Dierdre Barlow styley sunglasses obscuring most of his face.

Minky says to Jamie - I know it's an easy fold to anyone but you.

However, something in Jamie's 5% of face that is visible must tell him otherwise and he folds his TT.

jamie doesn't show his cards or his face.

Paul Bracken returns to the table and Minky apologises to him if the decision took a long time. Paul says he didn't care how long he took, but he actually left the table as he thought it was bad etiquette to show his cards.

Dave Johnson has just taken out Mike Hill, hitting a Q with his AQ. Mike had JJ, which was ahead until the river.

I tapped dave on the arm to get his attention, and he said "Ow" and looked like I'd really hurt him. He then said he couldnt tell me how many chips he had as he was counting them when I tapped his arm andnow he's lost count.

Ark Sinkiewicz  raised up ben jackson put him all preflop.

Ark had KK so chose to make the call.

Ben turns over 6h 9h

One heart on flop.

Ben asks for runner runner heart.

The dealer duly obliges him.

Ark was heard to mutter quite a few Polish phrases which don't come up straight away on Google translate, so I can't be sure, but I think it was Good Game.

Blonde on Blonde action

Flop of Qs Jd Ac Qd

I get there on the turn, the river is an innocuous 7s and Dave Johnson checks to Trigg who bets 60K into what looks like a pot of about 120K +

Dave tanks so long he has to take off his cardigan to make a decision.

Eventually says to Trigg you could have any shit and makes the call with AK

Trigg mucks and throws David's cardigan on the floor and stomps on it.

I won't ask Dave how many chips he has yet as he's too busy dusting off his cardi.

Break time, we've lost Stephen John during the Trigg hand, and down to 23 players.

Mark Physick just used up his lifetime's One time.

Three way all in with mark, Nick Baghai and Paul Bracken

Mark - 77

Nick Ad Kd

Paul Ah Kh

Flop....

3h 5d 7d

So although Mark has hit a set he is dodging Nick's diamond flush draw, for the turn to bring the

9h

leaving Mark TWO nut flush draws to dodge.

Mark turns away unable to watch the river

He's safe!  Paul Bracken on about 50K now, Nick Baghai out and Mark with  a massive grin and 230K

Darren Hickman gone, felted after his KQ hand with Ash, puts it in again with KQ, called by Jack Ellwood with 77, hits a straight and send Darren dashing off.

18 players, 2 tables left, darren Hickman takes home £2620.

Might get an early dart at this rate.

Mark Physick allin

Flop 3c Ks 2C Ah

Action on turn is Mark allin and Adrian Eley making the decision. He asks if Mark will show him if he folds, Mark says for sure.

Adrian looks at flop again and says he thinks his King is winning as Mark can't have the ace.

Asks him again will you show, mark says definitekly and says I'm ahead of your King.

Adrian thinks a bit longer and CALLS!

Adrian has KQ while Mark has Ac 9c - top pair and the flush draw!

River a brick and Mark cripples Adrian, putting himself back up to 280K.

Adrain gets AA very next hand, gets insta double up from Jeff Hemmerman who has KK.

Thoughts on shouting "COME ON FAT BOY" when your aces hold?  I'm assuming he was motivating himself rather than having a go at Jeff.

Dave Johnson just lost a Huuuge pot to Andy Peters.

Andy had aces.

I asked what Dave had and Andy said, he didn't show, then George pipes up - he had 5s.

Dave says yes but I was representing something else obviously.

So I asked him what was on the board:

"a straight, a flush, just everything okay!!"

So I think dave's point was Andy couldn't fold Aces despite him clearly representing the nutflutraighquad.

Clock stopped, mad scenario I've never seen before.

John Miller flats with QQ.

Jack Ellwood raises with JJ.

John goes allin.

jack thinks and calls.

They turn over their hands and the dealer mucks them both.

Yes, mucks their cards - PREFLOP.

This is pretty harsh on Ellwood, never in doubt who wins here.

Jamie catches the lucky river this time with a 5 to keep him in with about 350K now.

John Prested shoves 50k with QK after being 3 bet by Ben Jackson sat to his left.

Ben snap calls with AK

10 high flop no help for John and Ben takes yet another player out.

i just shoved utg at 2k/4k he just called. No 3bets involved :)

Sorry JP. Ben told me that, guess he was just trying to impress me with his 3betting skills.

Eleven players left, Blinds 5k 10K ante of 1K and 13 minutes ledft on this last level of the night.

I'm ready to live it up as soon as we finish, ordered an egg butty and a cup of tea. Doesn't get better  than that.

Mark Physick on 475. The lad is buzzing, his first GUKPT Main Event.

ben jackson up to nearly 600K.

Three players see the flop of 8 9 J

Ben leads out, one fold and one call from Mark Livesey, who checked in the dark pre flop.

Turn 9 check check.

River 6

Mark L leads out for 50K.

Ben tanks and tanks and makes the call with 10 10, it's good, Mark has AQ

Very last hand at Level 18 and we lose JEFF HEMMERMAN in 11th place who takes off with £3930.

Shoved with 33 called by Mark Physick with AK

Flops an ace, no turn or river shocks and Jeff leaves us with a final table for tomorrow.

Exactly as I predicted. (In my head)

great updates i think from the mouth, shes a lad, although i seemed to play better when having no signal on the phone!

was happy to make day 2 but then got to the casino and sighed when i saw i was on the right of mr trigg, he played really well and nice to meet him and a few other blondes ive never met or played against too.  As soon as i got chipped up today i messed up, pretty gutted really but the place has been buzzing all week and really enjoyed it.  Good luck to all blondes left.

put me down for a 50 on another mouth gukpt update as long as she wears a cardigan of my choice, tighty is good but hes a big bloke with a builders crack, the mouth obviously a slimmer bloke with a covered up crack  :P

thanks for those that supported me appreciate it.

WP david.

Do you mean just a cardigan, or can I wear clothes under it as well?
