Title: Some football value tonight (post your own too)
Post by: Solaris on November 25, 2011, 06:14:07 PM
Port Vale are at home to Torquay and I really fancy the Gulls to win.

Vale have lost 4 of their last 5 (drew the other) and haven't scored in their last 4. Torquay by contrast have come out of a sticky patch and show some real form as of late, winning their last 5, 4-0, 2-0, 0-3, 1-3 (away at league one Chesterfield in the FA cup) and 3-1.

On top of all that, Micky Adams is having a real hard time of it at the moment with the fans on his back and an injury hit squad:

Quote
"If we hadn't have done anything we would have been down to the bare bones," said Adams. "Jennison has pace and can play from either flank, while Guy is a strong centre-forward who links up play well.

"Graham Westley, the Stevenage manager, recommended them, so I'd like to thank him.

"All three are hungry players with a point to prove, and the fact they have experience can't be a bad thing. Shane has played in the Championship."

News of the signings came as Adams, right, declared he was the best man to halt Vale's recent decline ... and banned his players from having days off until the slump had been arrested.

He said: "Some players are lacking respect for their profession. Until I see a response or we get a result, these players are in for a hard time."

Fancy Torquay to win at 21/10, Torquay - 1 at 11/2 and Torquay -2 at 14s.

If any of you have your own best bets for the weekend post 'em up!

Truly epic fail from there. Disappointing to say the least.

Still, always tomorrow/later on today...

yea, was a massive sigh in the end for 600 bananas. 4 teams x2 3-0 and x1 2-1 then 5his scabby 0-0. serves me right for trying to ride on the back of other peoples work. glgl today. having a look for the value as we speak.

QPR @ 11/4
Everton @ 11/8
Inverness @ 3/1
Brentford @ 13/8

£5 doodle dandy!  pays just under £1400.

Special One has taken a 6 point lead over Barca. Classico in a couple of weeks is massive.
Think Barca's reign may be over though. Might help them in Europe though.

Teams have realised how to play against them, with 2 very narrow very deep banks of 4 and 5 and just trying to nick a goal on break or from a set piece.

If they defend heroically Barca can't score, its barely possible. Saying that, Iniesta was a huge miss tonight. Getafe deserved to win.

Barcelona have been pretty average. They lack wingers with any pace as an alternative attack, like Ronaldo and Di Maria.

Watched the Madrid derby. This guy is amazing:

Just got a big lump on over 2.5 in the Fleetwood/Kettering @ 4/5, price is way out compared to others who are around 1/2.  Kettering in disarray.

If you fancy Liverpool then skybet are offering some big prices on the score win doubles.
Torres Chelsea 11/8 - Suarez Liverpool 16/1 - This is the general theme, it's not a one off.

I know some people can't get on thought i'd post anyway

Sorry should have said I have no idea what the price "should" be but this was just out of line with other bookies. Bet365 went 6/4 then suspended, Coral went 7/2 then suspended, skybet went 6/4 and most others just suspended the market.

I'd imagine I might yet get done for palpable error (even though the pricing is nothing of the sort).

Realistically if they go into administration they'll be 2/5-1/2.....if not they will probs be c5s-6s I would think.

Feels like a 'bet to nothing'.

Stan James C'ship relegation market has Pompey at 6/1 again so maybe no deduction although I'm not sure their market looks right. Cov are odds against and they we're odds on with everyone earlier and 7 adrift in the league.

Coventry are a decent side.
Pompey won't get 10 points deducted according to SSN last night too.

Pompey won't get 10 points deducted according to SSN last night too.

The argument is basically a side going into administration twice in 18mths Vs. The FA wrongly passing someone in their 'fit and proper persons' test.

The FA could admit they were wrong....but more likely imo is a points deduction for Pompey as per the Southampton precedent.

I've seen a special tonight somehwere for Spurs, Brum and Celtic to score over 4.5 goals between them.

Please don't look at oddschecker, what price would ppl make this?

Research by all means but don't 'look' for the actual price.

Suppose we'd need Spurs to get 2 as a minimum, Celtic 1, maybe 2, and Brum just to nick one.

When I saw 13/8 for all brit teams to score over 4.5 I wrongly immeadiately thought of Shamrock too, that might have swung it even more.

Principal factor for me will be the Spurs team/price. 4/9 and a shade bigger on the exchange at the moment but this could move considerably dependent on team news I would have thought?

PSV to beat Warsaw tonight @ 11-8 is pretty tasty. We should be able to counter attack all night long and we're rather decent at that.

Fielding a strong side with only a couple of first team players out due to injury.

Braga -1 @11/8 v Birmingham looks a decent bet.

Beat the Blues 3-1 at St Andrews. Admittedly lost at home to Bruges, but this is a crucial game with a win guaranteeing qualification. As an Arsenal fan I know how hard it can be to go to Portugal and get a result and I just fancy Braga to turn it on tonight.

Celtic - Atletico - under 2.5 @ 1.96

Double @ 4.6

Found a bet tonight that looks way out of line on my book

Ive priced up Middlesboro (playing at home ) to beat Forest a minimum 4 -7  shot if not shorter

However they are currently trading at evens which looks massively overpriced to me

My two Forest contacts agree they are " woeful ", and the team news is that Boro are at full strength and  and Forest have 4 regulars out

Guess Im looking for somebody knowledgeable on Boro to give me a reason why this is not a big value bet  (doesnt Keith live up there ?   :) )

If you are pricing something up @ 4/7 when market is evens, market is far more likely to be right than the price up, market is basically never gonna be 27% off, let alone on matchday in a fairly prominent league. If this is the case, you should really be looking pretty closely at how you're pricing the events up first and foremost and have a rethink, because there's a problem there.

The team news...is completely off as Robson is a big doubt as is Haroun + Bailey/McDonald/Coyne are definitely out. AFAIK Forest have no new injuries and are pretty much full strength (Cohen has been out for ages and will be out for ages). Plus you have the fact that Forest are massively underachieving in terms of results, relative to their 'equity' in games (i.e. they've dominated lots of games in terms of shots/corners but haven't won) - something which the big firms are clearly factoring in hugely if you look at Forest' odds today and in prior weeks.

I dont have a problem nor need to re think anything else as these prices are my own guidelines and have served me well.

I asked for an opinion on Boro not a lecture on pricing  from the shadows.

I dont like the tone or content of your posts so would ask you to follow somebody else about in future.

Maybe you should channel your energies into something more positive .

It is pretty ridiculous to price something up at 4/7 that is 11/10 tho. What price do you make Boro in this instance? 6/1?

Fwiw I've laid Boro at evens in a lay multiple bet tonight.

You misunderstand.. I simply price up games first before looking at the bookies prices then i compare theirs and mine ...Generally they fall in line but this one stood out .

I agree it would be ridiculous to price  a team up at 4 -7 to lay it  knowing they are evens ....but that is not the case

so easy to get lost in translation on here...actually easier not to bother

adnmdv is a good poster. I also enjoy reading Fraser's ramblings too tho.

This - I don't know adnmdv, however he replied to my RvP thread with some really insightful comments, disagreed with me in a very direct way - however also mailed me a couple of weeks later as the market changed with more useful info.  I like reading his posts and imho I wouldn't take personally - the gusy got great knowledge as do rearmi, dazzler, camel etc.

I think there's a difference when someone does something, in what I'd call an industry / for a living way - versus a recreational expert as you appear to be Fraser, some good posts and I like reading your stuff too.

FWIW - I'm with you tonight and against Brent - I fancy Boro.

PS - thatnks Brent, we still havent met but I've been meaning to say thanks as despite being a toon fan, I am on hcap and w/o Big 6 purely down to your posts at start of season lol - I'll buy to a premature beer at Cheltenham if I make it - Trigg phoned earlier and if I dont take a contract to do some work for a couple of months I'll see you there!

could be good for about 6 of of to each price up a premiership card early in turns, and lay bets on those prices

+1 to adnmdv being a good poster.

FWIW, I have been opposing Boro solidly the last few weeks, but I think 11/10 was an over reaction to their recent poor form.

Evs now I see, that's more like it, still a smidgeon of value if you didn't have to pay commish. I would have them at around 1.95.

ooops with reference to the 6/1 I obviously meant Forest.

Shaun, cheers mate, glad you got on. Although, its not over yet, will be looking over our shoulders at Sunderland and Everton towards the end of the season I reckon.

Unfortunately for the first year in a few I'm not going to Cheltenham now as I'm working.

Thats a shame...mind you I may be working too sigh.  I agree with looking over shoulders, although looking at fixtures etc I am pretty condfident got enough in tank for Big 6 bet.

Probs a good idea.

I had a bit of a mare at the weekend. I did my own prem tissue on the Thursday and the only 3 that stood out were I had Man Utd 1.84 and you could get 20/21, I had Fulham @ 13/10 and they were 2.06 to lay and I thought Wolves and WBA should be the same price in the 2.7 department and Wolves were 11/8 with WBA at 21/10.

I didn't bother with Man Utd, was too quick to let people persuade me that I was wrong about WBA and left them alone, whereas laid Fulham for quite a lot.

Did my own prices in the championship but couldn't find any value.

I ended the weekend frustrated.

Pompey look woefully short at 2.1 tonight, layed them and backed Ipswich.

Where you working now Horner or can't/prefer not to say?

+1 to adnmdv to keep posting. Don't think we should put anybody off and he's clearly knowledgeable.
