James Moult has picked up an 18,000 chip pot towards the end of Level one.

Thomas Walker made it 300 preflop and got 2 callers, the flop came 9-Q-10.

Walker bet out 1,500, Moult Made it 3,500, the player behind got out the way and Walker flat called.

Turn was a 5, Walker check called the bet of 3,500 from Moult.

River Ace, again Walker check called, this time a bet of 4,000. Moult showed 10 10 for a set of 10's, Walker mucked moving Moult up to just under 40,000.

No exits in Level 1 and we are up to 90 players. In the last Monte Carlo the first exit was on the first hand A-Q getting 30,000 in on Q-x-x versus Aces. No such excitement this time

Level 2 75-150 begins

Harvey "Iraise" Butters has just scooped in a huge pot, leaving Haresh Thaker with 2,500 chips.

Thaker raised pre, Butters flatted, Toby Lewis 3 bet and both players called.

Flop came A-K-3

Butters checked, Lewis made it 2,300, Thaker flatted, Butters from the sb made it 5,875.

Lewis called, Thaker made it 14,000, Butters shoved for 29,000, Lewis thought for a while before passing, then Thaker called.

Butters - 33

Thaker - AK

Turn Q and river 7 were no good for Thaker, pushing Butters up to about 70,000 in chips.

The live stream of the feature table will be on the Dusk Till Dawn website all of Day 2 & all of Day 3, as me and Rich help each other out all weekend with the updates

Alex Rousso 325 UTG

Stacey Coore calls

Sam MacDonald 1000 on the button

Both call

flop  2c 5c Th

checked to Coore who leads for 1,500

MacDonald 3,700

Rousso folds

Coore calls

turn  7h

Coore checks

MacDonald all in for 9,275

Hidden behind his arm, which is propping up his chin, his Adams Apple is bobbing up and down maniacally. Coore can't see this from his angle

Several minutes pass

Coore eventually calls the all in, for about 40% of his remaining stack with the monster that is  5s 9s.

MacDonald flips  6d 4h

River  6h doubles MacDonald up

A  Aspades 4h 3c 8h board,

Andrew Johnson had his 30,000 in the middle

Simon Hyde thought then folded Ac 4d face up.

Johnson said "wow didn't think you were that strong"

Alex Martin starts laughing,

Johnson says he was drawing dead then the whole table discuss how he was possibly drawing dead,

Ronaldo being the most confused.

Chili doubled up Jakally

Jakally was down to 17,000 after a mishap against Michelle Bennett, betting every street and mucking to a raise on the river. Michelle showed Ace-high. Cheeky.

Later Jakally raised in late position, Chili calls on the button with A-Q

A-2-3 flop

Jakally c-bets 550, Chili makes it 1,400. Jakally 3,600. Chili got into a mindset where she did not believe him, she says. Instead of shoving though, she flats to get it in on the turn

turn 10

Jakally 3,600 leaving himself 7,000. Chili sort of realises she should give up but shoves

Jakally shows 2-2

He's up to 34,000, and that's how Chili is down to 7,000...now back to 12,000

Chili "there was no need"

Jakally "Have you no respect for me?"

Chili "It was silly, thought you were tilting"

On a  Th 8h  5s board, Grummitt bet out 2,000. Greek Jack called, Jeff Sharpe made it 8,000.

Grummit snap shoved for 31,000, Greek Jack folded, Sharpe made all the facial impressions under the sun before finding a call.

Sharpe -  Tc 8c
Grummit -  Ahrt 6h

Turn was 2h, river 5c giving Grummitt the nuts and a stack of about 65,000.

Andrew Johnson doubles through Hyde cracking his Aces

More battles between Johnson and Simon Hyde, with Johnson coming off as the victor again.

Flop  7s Th 9s

With 7,000 in the middle, Johnson bets 2,000, Richard Garner calls, Hyde raises to 10,000, both Johnson and Garner call.

Turn  9h

Johnson shoves for 8,000, whilst Garner is deciding Johnson stands, tucks his chair in,walks around in a circle 3 times, pulls his chair back, sits back down, Garner eventually folds, Hyde calls.

Johnson  Ts 8s
Hyde   Aspades Ad

River 6d, giving Johnson the straight. Hyde is now down to about 18,000.

Lewis Hunter has just took a big pot from Daniel Morgan, who is no longer a chip leader.

On a 10-9-4-K-10 board Hunter check-raised Morgan's bet of 5,250 to 14,500, Morgan put him all in for 30,000 or so,

Hunter said "you've got to have it" then called anyway. Morgan insta mucked, Morgan showed 4-4.

Morgan is still on about 35,000.

Nicholls then took the rest. On  5-9-3, two clubs, Haslam made it 6,000, Nicholls called. Turn K, Haslam shoved for 5,000 with A-5, called by the 3c 4c of Nicholls, and river 10c sent Haslam to the rail.

Ronaldo came over to tell me "Hyde is bluffing, write it down". Johnson finally found a call with 22, to be against the AK of Hyde. River Ace, and Hyde is up to just under 50,000.

Is this the £1k monte Carlo update I'm reading?

After having a hard time from Andrew Johnson all day, Simon Hyde has managed to double through him. Hyde made it 1,000, Johnson to 8,400, Hyde shoved for 23,000. Ronaldo came over to tell me "Hyde is bluffing, write it down". Johnson finally found a call with 22, to be against the AK of Hyde. River Ace, and Hyde is up to just under 50,000.

A quick run through of the 87 remaining players, as I just spent 15 minutes touring the tables without seeing a significant hand

23    1    Sam Macdonald
23    2    Fraser Bellamy
23    3    Lars Torngren
23    4    Iwan Jones
23    5    Danny Toffel
23    6    Oluwashola Akindele
23    7    Keith Hawkins
23    8    Paul Jackson
23    9    Julian Thew

MacDonald has over 70,000. Jackson over 60,000. That apart this is a table of under average stacks

25    1    Michael Comer
25    2    Neil Giblin
25    3    Michelle Bennett
25    4    Maria Demetriou
25    5    John Picken
25    6    Anonymous
25    7    Harvey Butters
25    8    Jake Cody
25    9    Marcin Milde

Butters and Milde recently moved to this table with breaks, and they have the stacks ahead of Comer and Giblin. Cody has made progress as a late starter

26    1    Thomas Walker
26    2    Matt Perrins
26    3    Paul Zimbler
26    4    Jamie O Connor
26    5    Adam Picken
26    6    Patrick Simcoe
26    7    Ben Martin
26    8    Luke Spalding
26    9    Guy Barron

Perrins and Zimbler do not appear to have showed, as yet. One of the quieter tables

27    1    Stuart Fox
27    2    Glen Storey
27    3    Kyriacos Dionysiou
27    4    Jeff Sharpe
27    5    Paul Grummitt
27    6    Carlo Citrone
27    7    Umar Khan
27    8    Jonathan Grice
27    9    Andrew Hulme

Keith Johnson a recent exit from this table. Grummitt has the chips

33    1    Terence Mitford
33    2    Ian Woodley
33    3    John Conroy
33    4    Alex Rousso
33    5    Jamil Ogunmakinwa
33    6    Paul Skipper
33    7    Jack Allen
33    8    Paul Ho
33    9    Gary Orme

Not the greatest of table breaks for Paul Hohoho. Mitford, Woodley and Conroy are three of the top ten stacks, sat in a row the other side of the dealer from him.

34    1    Sunil Mistri
34    2    James Mitchell
34    3    Alan Mcbride
34    4    Michael Taylor
34    5    Tim Blake
34    7    Lewis Hunter
34    8    Daniel Morgan
34    9    Jonothon Butters

Morgan and Mistri have been battling all day. Mitchell is new to the tournament. Hunter the biggest stack on the table

35    1    Anonymous
35    2    Jack Ellwood
35    3    Richard Haile
35    4    Nick Hicks
35    5    Steve Brown
35    6    Assaf Hussain
35    7    Terry Fletcher
35    8    Toby Lewis
35    9    Anthony Nicholls

Nicholls has the chips here. Lewis quiet-ish today, a few thousand above starting stack.

36    1    Kevin Parkes
36    2    Lawrence Gosney
36    3    Alex Goulder
36    4    Scott Shelley
36    5    Ben Vinson
36    6    Andrew Murphy
36    7    Mark Wallis
36    8    Asif Raja
36    9    Nathan Watson

Gosney the chip leader here, with cambridgealex recently moved alongside him

37    1    Daniel Edler
37    2    Simon Deadman
37    3    Paul Hardy
37    4    Adam Churcher
37    5    Andrew Tuxworth
37    6    Mark Wates
37    7    Anthony Pyatt
37    8    Mark English
37    9    Alan Stearn

Chrucher now over 60,000, Deadman comfortable above 50,000

38    1    Anonymous
38    2    Simon Hyde
38    3    Mark Roberts
38    4    Willie Tann
38    5    Mohammed Istakhar Sadiq
38    6    Andrew Johnson
38    8    Stephen Lockett
38    9    Richard Garner

It's the Hyde and Johnson show as their stacks oscillate with their various confrontations.

Keith Hawkins has just doubled through Sam Macdonald. There was 9,000 in the middle, board reading 3-A-K-10, Sam bet 3,250, Keith called. River 7, Sam put Keith all in for 13,000 and Keith called faster than the speed of light, showing 33 as Macdonald showed AQ.

Late registration has now closed, meaning we have 120 entrants for today. With this tournament having a guaranteed prize pool of £250,000, we will need 130 runners on Day 1b to reach it, with Saturday usually proving the more popular day 1. 85 players remain.

Simon Deadman has just doubled up to 50,000 after being in a preflop war with Ian Woodley. Woodley made it 1,600 from the cutoff, Deadman made it 5,000, Woodley put Deadman all in for 24,000, Deadman called.

Deadman - AK
Woodley - 67s

the board ran out AJ22, Woodley was drawing dead on the turn.

Maria Chili has doubled up

With 5,000 in the pot on a 9-6-4 board Marcin Milde made it 1,625, Maria raised to 6,200.

Milde thought for a while before putting Maria all in for around 20,000, Maria snapcalled with 66 well ahead of Milde's JJ who was unable to get there.

Before the river Milde walked all the way to the opposite side of the room to the furthest table away, bent down and held his head, despite still being on just under 50,000.

Alex Martin's staking report

 ;applause; rotflmfao

One of a kind, our Alex

"sorry guys, was really a super tournament. Im going out tonight but gonna do a mini-report before a full(ish) one tomorrow. starting table was golden, really one of the softest in the room and only two players i recognised, sim (one of the crazy (slightly hot) twins) from north london and a regular solidish nit from the circuit. Got off well, guy misclick min-opens from the small, i defend T4o bvb, TT5r, check check, turn 4, bet, raise call. River A, he check calls a psb to go to 35k. Nick a couple more to go to 38k peak.

Utg opens (exceptionally loose ep open (A8o/78o showndown, willingness to bet/giveup/fold a tonne) opens utg to 475@ 75/150, called by another more solid guy in mp, i sqz K5hh to 1550 (1st 3b in 4 orbits, really wanna boost 3b range for later as our table wont break all day), get coldcalled by early late arrival 40-something on btn. OR calls, flatter folds, coldcalled calls. Q74hh, bet, called by cold-caller of 3b, utg folds. Turn offsuit 5, he calls. River pairs the 4; kinda unsure/fun spot, dont know if the average 40-something regular is folding AQ/KQ, i elect to giveup and he ships. Thought about hero for 0.4 secs then remembered where i was and left the cape in the hotel. Possibly in hindsight ship could be good, but table wasnt really one for taking small edges i figured at the time, plus i block KQ and action weighs AQ heavily. Ppl dont go to nottingham to fold toptop in a 1k.

Dropped to 28k after an open got 3b by sim, who was being REALLY splashy at this moment in time. Iv played with her before and she can be a pain in the arse tbh, she's kinda crazy and really unpredictable. Our most recent history (sorry/tangent) was a hand i played in a gup side @ the vic in a 400. @ 150/300/25 with an avo stack of 12k (we both have avo) im in bb w KQo. Utg starts a family limpathon (ENTIRE table) and she completes the sb. I go 2600 and watch utg call along with CO and Btn. She now ships and im pretty much fistpump snapping. Btn also calls and Sim snaps w AQo, but im normally quite blessed and got there, but i think the hand is fine/kinda standard w dead monies/range blabla (sorry/5 pints in). Other history is basically me trying rare big bluffs and her doing loopy shit, but in this comp at this table i figured id let her burn out before playing 50% of hands again/ high variance spots on this table were not optimal.

So sin burns out and im down to 24k. I open A9dd utg 1075 with 2 ppl satout (looseish @ 200/400 but think its ok). Ug+1 calls (active casually dressed/neat chip stacks/ rum and coke drinking- details ftw) and the loose fishy button calls. Kq4dd, i cbet 1750 and utg+1 SNAP makes it 5.5k. Buttn folds am im kinda like fml. I elect to call; thoughts? I dunno about 3b call/really cant szee a range im in good shape against but obv hate fold/too deep to ship. Meh. Anyhow, turn bricks and he sets me in/meh.

Guy turns up late, ladder satellite qualifier i overhear. I open Q9o in the co, he defends bb. 662hh, he c/c. Turn , c/c. (i have absolutely no history with this guy; but hes tilting the fk out of me by wearing sunglasses in nottingham in the middle of winter/having the dealer remind him every other hand that its his turn to act because hes watching red-tube on his ipad (animal-p fwiw) and he's one of those muggles that spent too much time watching late-night poker and wants to stare down a limped pot multiway with 4 bigs in the middle). I check to rep pot-control/showdown blabla. River is a T. I elect to vbet 1//2 pot figuring his range is mainly small-med pp's, obv he went to hogwarts and the wizard calls w A5o. Dinner break. see harry in the queue and decide to swerve the buffet and hit vinny's fave over the road. Have a beer and elect to go for it when return.

Im now on 18k. I get slightly tilted after it goes limp+4 and btn makes it 1250 otb/i fold AJcc in the sb(realllllly close imo, but btn is tight and seemingly quite good) and an AJ4r flop sees a lot of bb's fly in multiway/ AK wins. Then i fold KTo otb in a multiway coup and see a KTx flop and ppl throwing in car keys/wives etc and a bluff wins small bean. Anyhow/slightly tilted now (honesty ftw).

Ok, pretty crucial hand, may well have fked this up in hindsight. Utg harry limps. I iso KJo in and btn cooldcalls/harry's obv in. K93r. check, i cbet, btn calls, wizard lowers his glasses and gives me a staredown, then makes is 3X. I really am flummoxed. I mean wtf. Will finish this tomorrow, mate is pissed im typing so slow and we wanna go out. Gonna play again tomorrow, redbull has re-booked his 10%, anyone else want in (same 30% being sold/previous investors 1st then 1st come/1st served) post here/pm or buy me a beer in dtd lounge.

manyana, al, x x"

It nearly played out like :)
Butters made it 1,300 pre and marcin flatted so I called on the button.
OR made it 2,100 on the flop and marcin flatted again with his jacks. I made it a squeezy looking 6k from the button. OR folded and marcin tank set me in. Think he knew he was beat but couldn't quite let it go.

Ronaldo hasn't really been able to get it going all day, but has just doubled up.

Andrew Johnson made it 2,900, Ronaldo shoved for 11,650 with KK, and was called by the 88 of Johnson.

Johnson got no help, Ronaldo up to 25,000.

Ben Martin opens UTG

Julian Thew calls on the button

Stephen Lockett calls in the big blind

 Qs 7s 4d

Lockett checks, Martin leads for 3,900. Both Thew and Lockett call

turn  8d

Martin 8,400, Thew the only caller

river  6s

Martin jams, covering Thew

Thew calls all in with  7d 7h but has been done by Martin  9d Td for a rivered straight

Thew out

There was 7,500 in the middle on a 10-9-9 board,

Sam bet 2,800, Lockett called, Picken made it 9,000. Macdonald made it 14,600, Lockett folded and Picken shoved for 45,000, with Q-10. Macdonald made the insta call with K-K, and the King on the turn ended it.

Sam Macdonald now up to well over 100,000 again

only joined the action on the river with the board of Kc 5c 4d 7s Ac with about 50,000 already in the middle.

Jamie O'connor shoved for 20,000, Anthony Nicholls called.

O'Connor showed 8c 3c for a rivered flush, taking a chunk out of Anthony's stack.

It's slow going

Two perambulations of the remaining seven tables saw not a lot

- A couple of 4 bet shoves, from Michelle Bennett against John Picken and then Terry Mitford against Marcin Milde, both got through

- Jake Cody on 70,000. Looks like he had a hard night last night

- Maria Demetriou 60,000 ish on Jake's table

- Elsewhere The Camel has, it seems, had a double up along the way to around 50,000. Andrew Hulme on his table is short-stack grinding. Paul Grummitt in charge on that table, alongside young local Jack Allen with around 90,000

- Ben Vinson and Alex Goulder are-co-tabling. Both comfortable 70 and 90k

- John Conroy's run has come crashing to a halt and he is down to 20,000

- Iwan Jones, Ian Woodley and Simon Deadman all on the table I can't reach. All look to be comfortably above average

Title: Re: DTD Monte Carlo £250,000 Gtd: Day 1a
Post by: TightEnd on December 16, 2011, 10:42:26 PM
Jake Cody made it 2,100, and found 2 callers before John Picken shoved for 22,300.

Cody tanked, then Picken said "record this hand, it's where he doubles me up".

Cody look bemused/hungover, shoved and players behind folded.

Picken - Qs  Ts
Cody - Kh Jh

Flop came  Ahrt 6h 9c, leaving Picken drawing very thin, but  Tc was perfect for Picken on the turn, and 6c was a river brick, doubling him up.

Glen Storey is now out, he got it in with 33 and was called by the QQ of John Conroy, and found no help. In other news James Mitchell has been moved to the table of Jake Cody, with Cody to his immediate right.

Mitchell had been in the bar for an hour. His table had broken, he returned from the bar and wandered from table to table wondering which of the dead stacks was his. He looked like a slightly bewildered green jumpered Kermit the Frog doing so

one party of poker players, eliminated today have just ordered 12x Sambucas and 12x red bulls from a valet.

15 minutes to go and we've lost one player in the last 20 minutes, Mark English

Not for the Monte Carlo the mad rush of stacks going in in the last level to double up or go home, this is rather more prosaic stuff. 3 bet folds, not many flops, and in this structure no blind pressure at the end of Day One
