Title: DTD £150,000 January Deepstack: Day2 and final
Post by: TightEnd on January 08, 2012, 10:22:23 AM
434 began, 125 remain starting at 12pm today

This has been a fabulous tournament, with a turnout that I think exceeded all expectations

Payouts will be available later but the prize pool of £217,000 should lead to a first prize, sometime in the early hours of Monday morning, of over £70,000

blinds will begin at 1500-3000

Expectation is this will take til Level 31 to reach a winner, about 19 levels play today.

The 8 handed final will be live streamed on www.dtdpoker.com with commentary from Simon Trumper and guests

As last month, this will be on a half an hour delay and I will break off the update to contemporise the updates with the pictures you are seeing later on, but we can deal with that later

For now..shout outs for your favourites please...pick me a finalist or two.....

Fully expect George to crush and make a really deep run.

James Keys is one to watch today also.

Neil Giblin is also an excellent player and due a deep run in one of these.

Dark horse: Gerard Murphy. If he gets chips he'll be very dangerous and deserves a big score more than anyone I know imho.

Those are my tips for today.

George, Linton and team streaker ( James and Keith would win if it was just on ability ) are vey strong And a couple of these will make the final. But every final always have a couple of fish who everyone thinks how the hell did this guy make it past level 3, but basically they just got lucky every hand so a couple of them should be thrown in. Running like ussain bolt today are my two fishy mates Wadey and Wigglesworth. Gl guys

If it wasn't a typo and people accidently thought Maria won, what would happen? Be interesting if it did.

Ian Campbell shoves a but less, calling all in in the big blind

After some though Turner calls both creating a 240,000 pot

Turner Q-Q

Campbell K-K

Hicks A-A

Hicks looks at me, I look at him. We both fear the worst!

However the flop comes A-J-5 and Hicks trebles through

table 11 is a doozy

Linton and Wadey

next to Skipper

with Bedi two to the right

Bedi just raised A-Q, got called by Skipper in the big blind

Skipper open shoved about 3 times the pot on a flop of J-9-8

Bedi passed, Skipper flipped J-7 to the table with a flourish, redolent of a triumphant Caesar being carried back into Rome having captured Sparta and Gaul in the same campaign, and Bedi went into fits of hysterics.

Got the train back last night sharing with returning Leicester fans, who apparently hate Notts Forrest which they screamed for the first half an hour of the journey whilst kicking the train in rhythm . Thought my day couldn't get any worse. Now I know what Tighty does on away trips :)

Samir Khan is our bubble boy, unfortunately I completely missed the hand whilst covering action from Ed Gascoigne.
All players are now Guaranteed £750.
We are on a 15 minute break as we race off the 100 chips.
Blinds at 6,000/12,000/1,000 when we return, average 288k.

Fitzpatrick makes it 25k, Wan calls.
Prassana Suryanarayanan Shoves for 160k.
Fitz folds, Wan tank calls for about 70% of his stack
Prassana -  Ac Qh
Wan -  Kc  Ts
Wan explains he had to call, flop comes 10 high sending Prassana to the rail.
Wan a regular £20 MTT player, never really seen him play anything above this. Seems to be plenty of love for him around the room.

Rupinder Bedi the first stack over 1,000,000. 13 million chips in play

Showing relentless aggression. Watched an orbit or two and he's raising a lot, even getting rueful Linton sighs from across the table

----------------

Ed Gascoigne over 800,000 second in chips

--------------------

Iain Turner about 300,000. He's on the next table to break with Jakally and Shola. The only big stack on there is Lee Blackburn

Wan makes it 32,000.
Ed Gascoigne to 76,000.
Wan shoves for 420k.
Gascoigne changes the conversation to how Wan came about to play in this tournament, Wan explains he made 4 Final Table in £20 MTT's to win a seat through our Final Table Challenge.
Gascoigne then folds.
Bit of speech play I think.

Darren Fuller open shoves 190,000

Neil Giblin re-shoves

Fuller A-10o

Giblin A-Kdd

3-6-5-Q-8

Giblin knocks Fuller out and goes over 600,000

When he moved tables two levels ago he was on under 5xbb. Nice time to get a heater....

Bit of nice marketing I think  ;)

Yikes

Yikes

Look away now if you are of a nervous disposition

first

Len Overall shoves K-J and Neil Giblin calls with K-K. Overall flops a flush to double up

then

Giblin has now done 400,000 in 2 hands

Next hand

Adam Picken min raises the button

Giblin shoves A-Q for his last 240,000

Picken calls with  Ahrt 2h

Td 4c 3h Kh Qh

knocks Giblin out

A nasty ten minutes, Neil is literally shaking in disbelief at how 650,000 has gone in three quick hands

This is a really good one

Buckle in and enjoy the ride

Ed Gascoigne playing 525,000 opens to 50,000. Wadey, Kenny Prazer and Shola call on button and in the blinds

 7h 3d Jh

Checked to Ed who open shoves 475,000 into 260,000 or so

Wadey thinks for ages playing about 700,000

and CALLS

the blinds fold

Ed is at it, and then some, with  Ahrt 5s

Wadey has made an excellent call with  Kc Jc

Disaster for Wadey on the  Ad turn

Salvation for Wadey as he cavorts away from table, fist clenched when the  Ks hits the river to knock out Gascoigne and take Wadey over 1.3m chips

Apologies, I thought we had lost Winsor but we hadn't - but now we have.
200k in the middle, board is  Jd 5d 6d 6h
Winsor checks, Wadey makes it 125k. Winsor shoves for 365k. Wadey tank calls, and sees the good news.
Wadey -  7d 7h
Winsor -  Aspades 2s
River  4c means wadey now on over 2mil

Gill shouts "4 dealer, 4!"
Ask and thou shalt recieve

Chip counts and pics to follow

then a longer break while they set up the 8 handed feature table for the live stream

At that point I have to go dark for half an hour so as to report in synch with the stream, so please stick with it

Feel free to comment on what you see on the stream but please no spoilers from facebook/twitter etc for those who are on mobiles and can't access the stream

thank you very much

Abso amazing how often Dtd regs are the majority of these final tables. Soft spot for Greek jack, Shola and Frank but sticking with my original mixture of talent and luckboxes , Plinton Wadey and Nick.

Edit: gl Andrew n Maurice too

I think it just goes to show the class of these regs and how much experience plays in a quality tournament like this.

Yeah seams like he's adapted his bet sizing now, hard to read.  I remember thinking whilst we shared a table - just cos he is old, has white hair and a beard does not a nit make!

Had the grind of my life today, even down to half a blind at one point and hardly ever got above 10 bigs most of the day.  A bit proud of myself actually cos its so easy to NOT grind and shove it in.  Gutted in the end that it ended in 19th and into Aces but I had fun and enjoyed sharing a table with Steve the scouser - nice lad.

Gl to half the players still left.

Now some background to this

I have no idea what relations are between Wadey and Pete normally

but Linton was told before the final that wadey had told the cash players on the top tier that he would take Linton's stack, some sort of payback for a recent tournament episode, it would be war etc etc, he wouldn't take any bullying etc etc

One of the players told Linton that Wadey was gunning for him

Linton told me

It is commentated live (Rob and cambridgealex I believe?)

the problem is that seeing it is blocked in the building, so I am dark

For those that don't know Wan won his way into this by hitting four final tables at DTD in the Final Table challenge in sub £20 comps

Its his first comp of this buy in

He thinks he is destined to win, if only because I promised him at celtic's urging I would use the headline "Wan King at DTD" if he wins, on news sites, twitter etc

I hope he finishes 2nd

I thought so. He's been shoving pretty wide and with 12bbs he's shoving so much worse.

Don't know why Rob was insisting it was a frustration call.

No doubt, but it's the standard old guy shove. See it a million times. It's super frustrating to flop top pair there and see a guy shove 4x the pot, but it's still an easy fold.

Fuck you Shaun, so A+ i can't even hate...

Ty Tighty and JGill for the updates. Pretty much top 3 worst days of my life.

1. Go deep
2. Busto
3. Cash, give back percentages
4. Go to car, car won't start, go play cash for 8 hours and lose chunks
5. Start car and turn off ignition, try to start again and it won't start, fml.
6. Receive rubs
7. Car starts and hour long journey of blistering agonizing mental anguish

Shout out to Nick Hicks, absolutely gutted for you mate, and to Mr Hulme, for the rail today

He massively overperformed to get this far though, tbf

He got some massive donation from the 1 seat, however when he had the chips he played his stack very well very impressive. Was hard to tackle and was chipping up well just got unlucky wp mate.

Also well done Andy seems very nice and is taking his local 20 quid regs to vegas i heard which was a very nice gesture. He also told me he has a freeholding like in the good life/river cottage style so i hope the money helps him out alot nice run.

Finally unlucky nick hope it comes for you soon bud wp.
