Title: Turbos/Hypers
Post by: jjandellis on January 22, 2012, 09:17:35 PM
I thought this might be quite topical with the TCOP on.

I pretty much swerve turbos; definitely avoid hypers, but would quite like to know what the main differences are in comparison to 'normal' play.

What adjustments need to be made?

Is there any specialist/expert advice that can be given on how to approach these tourneys?

Pretty much all about push/fold at the business end of the tournament, in fact hypers are almost totally push/fold.

So it is all about getting your ranges right, the majority of newcomers will push far too tight in the vast majority of situations. Getting a program like sngwiz (you get a free month trial) and going through loads of spots is the quickest way to improve.

What about the earlier stages? Are we widening our range to take into account the speed of the blinds?

I don't and think this is a common misconception with faster paced tournaments. You are still risking the same amount of chips to win the same amount of chips. Just play each hand as it comes.
