Title: DTD £150,000 February Deepstack: Day1a
Post by: TightEnd on February 03, 2012, 05:22:27 PM
The monthly 500 Deepstack was launched at the beginning of 2012 in replace of the signature 300 Deepstack, which had been running each month since February 2008. In its first month the 500 Deepstack attracted 433 entries generating a £216,500 prize pool and a top prize of over £61,000!

With 30,000 chips, double the starting stack of its predecessor, and a 50% increase on the 300's £100K prize pool, there's no wonder this event continues to be the most popular event each month.

blonde poker will once again be live updating the event, from tonight 7pm, Day 1a

Of course it is a busy weekend, with a new tour launching in Birmingham and established events in both Deauville and Salzburg taking away some regular players from this

Notwithstanding this, this should be another excellent event

Once again the final stages will be live streamed on www.dtdpoker.com, with coverage timed to coincide with that on here.

A big pot has brewed early on. Callum Morgan made it 300, Chung made it 900. Thomas High then made it 1,850, Morgan folded, Chung called.
Flop - Js 4c 5s .
Chung check called for 2,250.
Turn - Kh .
Chung check called again, this time for 5,850.
River - Ad .
Chung checked, High bet out strong for 13,650. Chunk sat up like a meerkat, tanked then called. High shoed Jd Jh, Chung mucked.

Phillips check

Moult 700

Phillips 2,025

board reading  9c Qc Jd Qs

Moult calls

river  2d

Phillips 5,300

Moult dwell pass

Phillips nonchalantly flicks over  8s 7d to the chagrin of the bookiebasher

Pete Linton is out

The hand that started a tilt-slide was a 3 bet from Pete with K-K, called by Glenn Storey with K-2

Storey floated on an Ace high board, Linton gave it up, Storey showed

Then, hand two, Brendan O'Neill raised with  Aspades 4s and Linton looked him up with  Jh Th

flop  5c 4h 2h

Linton check raised and was called by second pair

turn  9d

Linton led, and was called by now third pair

river  Ac

Linton puts his opponent on KK/QQ and fires again, his only way of winning the pot I suppose, to be called by an eventual two pair

Julian Thew is co-tabling with Paul Skipper, he of resides in Norfolk/ frequent trips to the DTD the car-park fame and Adam Daniel, he of "please sponsor me blonde poker" fame

Not exactly a Butlins holiday camp atmosphere for the former nicest man in poker

He raises to 500 pre, called by small blind and the big blind Mohammed Fatemi

flop  4c Kh 9s

Fatemi check calls 750

turn  Ad

check check

river  Tc

Fatemi leads for 1400

Thew bumps it up to 3000

Fatemi calls

Thew tables a winning  Ac 9c

85 of 89 are left and these are the four exits

86    Wayne Smith
87    Timothy Chung
88    Umar Khan
89    Peter Anonymous

blinds 100-200 ra 25 next

Average is 31,411

Will update some chip stacks after the break

Ant040689 is sitting to the left of LFMagic, and tells me he is coming off second best

With a set of threes Ant sees the green light to bet 3,500 into 9,000 after Fields checks the river

Fields check raises to 20,000, and Ant passes for most of his stack

Sadly Ant can't remember the board, which is a shame as it must have been an interesting spot

Fields has over 100,000 and must be chip leader

Last hand before the break, Abdul Khan picks up a much needed pot.
Flop - 8h 7h 5d .
Khan shoved 9,150 into a pot of 9,100, plenty of people going into the tank before folding, the last being Adam Daniel who folded.
None of the players were happy to see Khan's 9c 3c , Skipper saying he wanted to call with A8 but was scared of the flush draw.

35 entries so far - amazing value for players who can make it to the satty!

Greg Garrett opens to 700 at 100-200 ra 25

Shokat Ali calls

Dan Morgan calls on the button

This all prices in Lee Dillion to call in the big blind

 9d Kc 7h flop

Garrett leads for 700, Ali and Morgan both call

turn  3h

Garrett 1650, Ali raises to 4000. Morgan passes

After a think Garrett calls

river  Th

Garrett 5,4000 to set Ali in

Ali flicks them in with a casual abandon, a man seemingly resigned to his fate. He tables  Ad Kd

As he suspects, he's been outdrawn....by  8h 9h

There was 5k in the middle on 6h 7d 5h flop.
Checks to Anon on the button, makes it 3,050. James Clarke flats, Brendan O'neill shoves for 30k.
Anon snap folds, Clarke snap calls for his 20k stack.
Clarke - 8h 9h .
O'Neill - Jh Th  .
No heart means Clarke doubles.

3,300 In the middle on a 8s 6c 5d Qh board.
Rich Griffiths makes it 1,325, Callum Morgan to 2,900. Griffiths makes it 6,475, Morgan unimpressed folds.
Funnily enough Griffiths shrugging then showing Kd Jh didn't brighten Morgan up.

On a board reading  7s 5h 2d 6s

Anthony Gaughan/Ant040689 leads for 400

Shirley Lacey (a pig farmer from the Fens who used to play Luton a lot) puts in 3 blacks and one green...1,300

Ant 4 bets to 5,300

Shirley asks the dealer how he can raise when she has just called, and her motuh is agape when it is pointed out that she's actually raised by mistake

She folds with alacrity, and Ant goes over his starting stack

Bedi 2,850. Thew calls

Mazhar Latif opens to 3,100 at 400-800

Matthew May 8,000 3 bet next to act

Passed round to Luke Fields in the small blind, he flats the 3 bet

Latif shoves for 31,000

May dwell-cogitate-digest-dwell shoves for 82,000

Fields is playing 120,000

He grimaces, exclaims "so sick"

He points at May's arm on which a tattoo shows a pair of Aces

"that would be ironic, wouldn't it?" he says to May

May grunts. This may be the limits of May's vocabulary. he's from Norfolk

Fields passes

"One of you better have better than Queens" he says

May  Jh Jd

Latif  Ad Qc

Fields leans back in his chair, hands on head, looks to the ceiling and shakes his head

"A Jack had better come"

 2s 4c 8s Jd

Fields mutters, almost imperceptibly "booom"

river  4h

May knocks out Latif, assumes the chip lead on 140,000.

A quiet man, he stacks his chips efficiently without emotion

Latest of the late late entries

Stuart Fox and Keith Johnson

Fox lost some ground early in his stint, but has just shoved over Grummitt on J-4-10-4 to go over 45,000

Keith looks characteristically quizzical at events around him, doe-eyed like a Watership Down bunny stuck on a hillside in the depths of winter.

Adam Daniel min raises the button to 3,200

Mitch Johnson with a lopsided smile, borne no doubt of months of confrontations with Mr Daniel on the DTD cash tables, called in the big blind

 Kh Qh Ks

check check

 Kd

Johnson 5,000. Daniel calls

 2h

Johnson 8,900. Daniel calls

Johnson  5h 5d is good. Nice value extraction from Mitchell

Hicks gets it in with Ad Ahrt on a Jd 6c 7c 7d board after 3 betting and barelling the flop to the mighty 7s 4s of Stuart Fox.
Fox looks genuinely upset for Hicks as he sends him to the rail, rushes round to Hicks to shake his hand and apologise further.

Keith Johnson shoves 20,000 into an unopened pot from the cut off

Barry Neville "I think you'd do that wit' any two"

"I have seen one, the  Ac" he tells a wistful Keith, Johnson no doubt thinking of his chums in Salzburg and the contrast with his impending slowroll by the Sheffield mauler

"I call" says Neville

"I haven't looked" says Johnson

"Knew it" says a smug Neville and shows  Ac 3h

Johnson  Jd Ts

Could be worse. Live connected cards

and a live connected flop  9d 8s 4h

turn  4d

river  9h

and Johnson goes back to dream of cambridgealex some more

Tina Bandyle raise calls a shove from Paul Grummitt

Bandyle is just covered

Bandyle has Qh9h, completely dominated by Grummitt's Q-Q

x-x-x-9-9 to double Bandlye up

Meanwhile Stuart Fox over 100,000. A process of deduction tells me he has doubled through Changit Joghal. No idea how!

Tina Bandyle raises with Qh 9h , Paul Grummitt sets her in with Qc Qd , Tina calls.
The flop is nothing, leaving Bandyle needing runner runner 9s. Sure enough turn = 9c , river = 9d .
Grummitt left feeling sick yet again.

Faramarz Mirfakhrai opens to 7,000 playing 80,000

Mitch Johnson 3 bets the big blind to 22,000

Mirfakhrai beats his chips over the felt, 4 bet shove all in

Mitch raises both eyebrows, but calls nonetheless with Q-Q

Mirfakhrai has a hand that surprises the table...KQdd

First card out is a King, and Mirfa doubles up over Mitch, who needs a sick bucket

Paul Grummitt shoves for 55k. Bandyle shoves for 57,800. Storey tank folds. Adam Daniel tank calls for 3/4 his stack.
Bandyle - Ad Jh .
Grummitt - Qs Ts .
Daniel - 8c 5c .
Board runs out Ks Tc 3c 6h Kc , Daniel ships it all, Storey agonises as he folded Td Th this being the last hand of the night.
