Can't imagine playing on it myself (iPhone), but good for the fish, and maybe for those times you are 1 tabling at end of a session or something.

This is awesome, playing the big $5 right now to test it out

You can even multi table by stacking, nothing has been missed out.

Only bug I've came across is that if you leave the app to attend to a text or something, then return you can't see your cards

In this n 2 others, quite slick. Can't see my position in tourney any where though, also no double rebuy or auto add on options for rebuy ?

This could put a few thousand players on the Sunday mirrions. Seems pretty slick too.

I could never be arsed to take a laptop to live poker games but sit reading shit on my I pad sometimes is ok. With this I can at least 1 table the mirrion for a few hours.

Who ever is responsible for stars graphics and layouts really does a good job. They all seem the smoothest icons and it seems like a cartoon in some ways.

A + again

In the splurge e-Mail announcing this, it says......

It has all the same Play Money Texas Hold’em and Omaha ring games and tournaments you’d find on the PokerStars desktop software, and you’ll also be able to play the same PokerStars player pool, but now you’ll be able to do this on the go.

The enboldened part seems an oddly clunky piece of wording, whyever would they use the phrase "Play Money"?

Is this legalese, to get round some UK or European licensing issue?

Mine says this.

You can play the same full range of Hold’em and Omaha ring games and tournaments that you’d find on the PokerStars desktop software, against the full PokerStars player pool; you’ll also earn FPP’s in exactly the same way, but you’ll be able to do all this on the go

Maybe they don't want renowned TV poker expert Tony Kendall scooping all da monies from the mobile phone fishies?

There is a 3g and non 3g version Trigg.  Ipad 3 allegedly due early March so may be worth a wait.  Get 3g with "3" - i pay £15 a month all you can eat data, suddenly a great auto back up as well for internet outage.

I'm sure the tablet market was a major driver behind this development.

Have been thinking about getting an android tablet for a while, and this just adds to the reasons to get one.

I'd also be thankful that there's no way to deposit/withdraw funds on the mobile version just yet. The app isn't very secure at all, and I'd hope it will require a two-step login process with some sort of token, otherwise there'll be some heartache.

It's good that's working, but it'd have to be a mandatory thing for all users to make it safe for everyone to use imo. Or at least make it compulsory for anyone looking to deposit / withdraw.

I'm not a security expert, but more than happy to play on it. Just always nervous doing anything involving giving third parties access to large amounts of my money over my phone with just a single password for authentication.

There's no reason the mobile app is any less secure than the pc version though.

Erm...you can use it at DTD.

Just can't use the DTD wireless to do so. Use your own phone network and everything is sorted.
Yea realise that but how many contracts are with unlimited Internet ?

I use mine up now without  using the super stars app

Also something useful, at least on the android version, is that if you are not actively playing/using the app for a while it does require you to relogin (including rsa) after a period of time.

Or not it seems...

Definately need to have something like that implemented...

So excited to use the app! I downloaded it to my Android and installed it only to have it tell me that my screen resolution is too small. Sigh, gonna have to root my phone so I can change it to 800x600.

I don't think I would like to use this on my phone as my eye sight is poor.

I had a go on it last night and it was OK, my main problem is that it's hard to understand whether you have 2 sapdes/2clubs or one of each.

I deffo need to get an iPad though, it's something that can save you money, whilst you make money on Pokerstars!!

Probably need to get one of those wireless charges.

Tut tut, confirmed joined the Internet brigade with the latest fandangle fad. You have sold out sir!

On a serious note the app is pretty hot, but one aspect I am concerned about at this time is the security issue. Mmmmm

Can't imagine it uses huge amounts of data. I'm sure Stars have developed the app to work like the desktop version where there's very little being sent to and from the server and client.

Another security issue is open wifi networks (ones that are unsecured). Would avoid them with anything sensitive or where money is at risk.

"e-Gaming review" said this today.....

PokerStars has launched a mobile app for UK players, available for download on Apple and Android devices.

The app however does not currently allow players to create a new account, nor does it have a cashier function, meaning players must register and deposit online before using PokerStars Mobile.

eGaming Review understands that a that a fully integrated app, including the addition of these two features, will be released later this year.

The launch comes after the release of Apple and Android apps for the Italian market, in January and February this year respectively.

Players will be able to access it from anywhere in the United Kingdom except Northern Ireland, and access both real-money and play-money poker.

It covers a number of varieties of the game including no-limit, pot-limit and fixed-limit Hold’em, as well as Omaha and Omaha Hi/Lo variants, and allows cash game, sit’n’go and tournament play on several tables at once.

PokerStars has two other non-egaming apps available on Apple devices: PokerStars TV and Pokerstars Clock.

The Laws apertaining to Online Gaming in Northern Ireland are very peculiar - even Channel 865 is outlawed there.

I think the reason why there's no app in N Ireland is that Stars weren't prepared to make two versions - one orange and one green.

You just hit the field that shows the size of your bet and then you can type it in

should be a 1/2 pot/ pot button imo, typing in the bets takes too long and the slider doesn't work very well.

battery life isn't great, but OK. I reckon 2-3 tabling you losing 20% of the battery life every hour.

Other than that, the app is perfect!

Is that using 3G or wireless?

I played about an hour this morning 2 tabling on Android Asus Transformer via wireless, lost 14% :/

Agreed, but for a first release they wont be far behind with this on the next update.

The slider is kinda weird as its based on your stack rather than the pot. Obvs people sometimes over bet the pot but most of the time people bet 50% 75% 100% of pot.
So the slider should be based on the pot, I've had a few misclicks betting 4x the pot in the middle...oops!

#areyouseriousbro

Every poker site uses a slider based on stack size, anything else would be nonsensial in no-limit games

I used this while playing live at Luton last night.

I was fine with keeping up with when it was my turn to act live.

The blokes either side of me weren't tho.  Kept having to be prompted as my skills on the .50/1$ tables were so interesting to rail.

Must be something up with my phone or something.

I can't use normal apps on mine for an hour without losing half of the battery life.

I was running the app on 3G on my iPhone 4 the other day down the pub and it only sucked up about 10% of the bat in about 3 hours but it was the only app running I had closed down all the other ones

If you're actually using data (e.g. playing on the stars app) - then 3G uses more battery than wi-fi.  If your phone is sitting idle, then wi-fi will use more than 3G.

(I think)

i would be better off buying one for £400 notes then £7.5 a month for 24 months as most of time i would use one i would be on wifi rather than 3g and the £7,5 would give enough as a back up imho

3G iPads are £500, the £400 machine is wifi only. Deal looks o.k.
Lad at work today said that Vodafone had offered him one for £25 a month though.
