Title: DTD £50,000 Guaranteed £150 Deepstack; Day 1a
Post by: TightEnd on February 17, 2012, 09:25:38 AM
Before I disappear off for a fleeting weekend towards and onto the M1 today...

Tonight, Day1a of the inaugural £50,000 Guaranteed £150 Deepstack

This event should be a corker. I would expect well over 120 tonight and over 300 tomorrow.

As the nice people at DTD say

"Our new mid monthly £150 Deepstack offers the same experience as our classic £300 Deepstack but for half the buy in! Guaranteed at a whopping £50,000 players have the option to enter via low buy in online and live satellites or buy-in directly for £150 + £18. For this, players get a true Deepstack experience - 15,000 chips, 40 minute clock, two Day 1's and the option to re-enter.

We hope this will appeal to all our players that loved the monthly 300 Deepstack as well as offering the lower bankroll players the opportunity to step up to a 2 day Deepstack event and gain valuable experience. "

The latter stages of the event will be live streamed once more on a slight delay on www.dtdpoker.com with guest commentators. You'll need your DTD online username and password to watch.

Who knows, I might start a game of "Rastafish Bingo" for you to play at home.....

Llyrs sells cheese for a living. Today's offerings to me out of his boot include brie, smoked cheddar and something blue. Put that in your pipe and smoke it Barry Neville

"Yes, but more worldwide now"

the latest is that we are up to 113 runners after one level. No exits yet

The appeal of the £150 I think is that the guarantee is big enough to attract the usual deepstackers, yet £150 is affordable to those who would normally play a £50 on a Friday here.

I reckon we might hit 500 runners over the 2 starting days. Yes?

Late entry tonight til 1am, tomorrow til 8pm. No excuses now....

Nicholas Panayi and Christopher Witney get 15,000 each in in Level Two. Pre flop

Panayi J-J

Witney 7-7

The A-2-7 flop sees Panayi stand up in high dudgeon and f and a blind accompanying a rapid backwards movement of his chair

He turns round on the 5 turn

and then exhales on the J river that sees him double through

Witney meanwhile takes his turn to tell the table how unlucky he is.....

John Cupcake comes over and tells me he is "bored shitless"

His highlight so far is

"tight bloke raises, one caller, I call with  3s 5s. Have to really"

I wait, expectant as ever...

"It comes two spades, I call a lead"

"turn comes a spade, we both check"

"river I over-bet the pot, he calls with Aces. He shouldn't call really, silly sod"

"sorry I can't remember more, I don't remember this crap. Where's the bar?"

and off he toddles

Not a scooby-doo's chance he'll cash in this, won't sit still for five minutes

Sean Randall raises pre, Fran Creed calls on the button with Q-10

The small blind calls and they are three way to a J-10-2 flop

Randall bets half the pot, Creed calls

Heads Up they see a lovely, for Fran, 10 turn

Randall checks, Creed bets near the pot. Randall calls

River is an ugly J

123 remain

Exits are

124    Michael Wernick
125    Lee Mcshane
126    Abdul Razaq
127    Mehtab Shabir
128    Christopher Witney
129    Mark Smith
130    Gary Dee

Paul Ho raises to 475 at 100-200

Riasat Ali in the big blind calls

6-8-A rainbow goes check check

turn 9, two spades on the board....Ali check, Ho 450

river Q of spades

Ali 2,600 an overbet

Ho snaps him off with A-Q

Same orbit on the river the board reads 2-K-4-J-J

The aptly named Henry Whale in the big blind 2,000 into a 5,000 pot

Ali all in for 5,000

Llyr Jones check raises to 10,000 from the small blind (presumably with what we will see is the case Jack)

Whale folds

Ali wins the pot with J-4 off, having limped on the button

Table bobby1, Milligan, LB44 etc is quite active

First Jack Allen in the blinds and Liam Batey collide

The board reads 5-5-8-10

Allen check raises on the turn 1700 to 3400 to be met by a shove for 9,000 total by Batey

Allen folds with a grimace and Batey shows me his cards

No word of a lie, six pairs of eyes on the table look at me for a reaction

I remain impassive

A few minutes later as I pass by the table again seats 1,2 and 3 are all reading the updates to see if I will name Liam's hand

Of course I cannot say that Liam had 9-9 until the table breaks or Liam is out. Oh, wait.....

Same table blind on blind Milligan and Liam Batey

Milligan check calls 500 on 9-2-7

check calls 1500 on the 5 turn

leads 2,100 on the 7 river to be met by an emphatic shove for 14,000 from the talented Batey.

Milligan passes, Batey assures him mand me he had 7-2....

Post by: TightEnd on February 17, 2012, 10:01:31 PM
Miligan tells me he folded A-7 on the hand above

then bobby1 A-K UTG, Milligan has A-Q

Bobby opens to 500, called by UTG+2, Milligan flats

Bobby leads flop 1600 A-7-5

Milligan smooth rim flats

Bobby 4000 on the 9 turn

Milligan jams

called

Phil "Bobby1" Quayle over 30,000

Interesting goings on on table tonytats

Stephen Wilson raises

Mike Harrison 3 bets

James Buckley flats on the button

Jarrod Walsh flats in the big blind

Wilson calls

4 way to the flop then in a three bet pot

Q-4-9 rainbow

Walsh and Wilsdon check

Buckley the original three better 3,300

Buckley flats that.

Walsh now puts in 5,300 without saying anything. Intending it to be a call, it in fact goes as a min-raise

Now its going to get messy

Wilson passes

Harrison shoves

Buckley shoves

Walsh shoves, calls all in to be more precise

Who has what?

Well all Harrison's christmases have come at once for the 3 bettor has Q-Q for top set

Buckley who flatted pre and on the flop has Aces.

Walsh, who min raised by mistake has J-9. Suited

Jack on the turn means Aces go third

3 on the river

Harrison trebles to over 40,000. Walsh wins the side pot and Buckley ponders how to play Aces to lose the maximum.

40? I would have said 40

Well it turns out he has a 28 year old son, that son being Gavin Tomlin who is a Pro footballer currently on loan at Gillingham, who scored a corker on TV versus Southend recently

Here's the lad, who has played for a host of lower league clubs.

Caught up on the Colburn Tomlin exit

He raised pre in the cut off with  9c 8c

Lee Taylor called on the button

Tomlin check called 4,000 on  Jc Qc Js

Tomlin led 8,000 on  7d, called

Tomlin 30,000 (leaving himself only 5,000) on  2h

Taylor called to win the pot with  Ac 7c.

Tomlin out the same orbit

A young lady called Natalie Keetley has had a stack rollercoaster

She raised with  Ac 8c, Matthew May called in the big blind with  5h 8h

flop  8d 6h 4c

May is covered, and check raises all in and is called by top pair top kicker. Keetley playing over 40,000. May about 16,000

turn  4h and May might be in business

river  2d and May is out

Two hands later Ronaldo of Pizzeria fame raises K-K and in the blinds Natalie calls with A-Q

a flop of K-J-A saw two stacks fly in. Set of Kings held, and Ronaldo doubles to over 25,000

final tally of runners today was 150.

300 tomorrow a good bet.

450 total would see a prize pool in the region of £65-70k and the guarantee smashed.

3 way after the river, board reading A-4-J-7-J

Greek Jack bets 10,000 into 15,000

the middle player folds

Prassanna Suryanarayanan (saves name to notepad) makes it 32,000

Greek Jack furrows his brow, and asks if Prassanna Suryanarayanan (see, I knew it would come in useful) will show if he passes

Prassanna Suryanarayanan (phew) says "yes"

Greek Jack tells the table this makes him want to call more

He thinks better of it though, passes and Prassanna Suryanarayanan shows him K-J

Prassanna Suryanarayanan on about 80,000

I arrive a fraction too late to see the pre flop action

However Riasat Ali is all in

Lewis Mitchell on the button has called or raised.

Scott Eustace in the small blind likewise.

Both have chunks of purple chips over the line

Mazhar Latif in the big blind looks to have called all in

So Ali and Latif all in, betting on the side

The main pot I estimate to be 80,000, 4 ways

flop A-9-2 rainbow

Eustace 20,000 from 60,000

Mitchell raises to set Eustace in, Eustace calls

Penelope the Poor dealer has groups of chips here there and everywhere, which she methodically sorts while the helpful presence of Barry Neville no doubt brings her sustenance in her time of maximum concentration

So we're on our backs

Eustace and Mitchell both have A-K

Ali has 8-7 off

Latif has 6-7 Suited.

I wish I had seen the pre-flop order of things

Anyway Eustace and Mitchell chop it up and we lose another two players

Shaun Pierrepoint raises to 4000

Paul Ho 10200 in the small blind

Pierrepoint calls

 Ad Qc 6c

Ho leads for 15,000

Pierrepoint makes it 40,000

Ho with 68,000 total shoves and Pierrepoint calls

Ho  Ahrt Qh

Pierrepoint  Kc Ac

Unavoidable, really

turn  7c

river  Kh

the over 150,000 pot goes to Pierrepoint and Ho is sadly out

Absolutely over the moon to make day 2, I managed to satellite in for €15 so makes it even sweeter.

Had an amazing run from level 10 were I sat with only 10BB it included Pocket aces 3 times Jacks twice AK three times amongst smaller pairs and strong aces each time the big pairs stood up so I guess I'm due a spanking on day 2...... Lol

Well done to every one else who has made it to day 2

Will be showing my support for our sponsors by investing in copious amounts of the sweet Thai chicken salad. Whatever happened to the eggs benedict we were so fond of Tony?

No idea, very sad, no Cardroom or Casino food ever beat that.

Good luck today, Herbie.

It used to be, but then vanished.

The sweet chilli chicken salad is good though, and the best thing on the current menu.

Good to see LOJ making it through. Do a win fella :)up

They did an incredible French toast with bacon and maple syrup! Nothing better than that. I was crushed when it came off. Intact I haven't cashed a tourney at Dtd since

Can never get used to the idea of bacon and maple syrup on the same plate. Esp with a muffin and yoghurt next door.

British Gas has this one sewn up I fancy.

Yeah it's pretty strange that some of the most popular things on the menu get taken off after a while. Have said it before but a few prawns instead of the chicken would be excellent.

Thanks for the good luck Tony.

Yes it was a strange one that Tony, given the Numbers it was a good spot to move in and Hopefully get him to pass. When he said I think I have to call I expected him to show a8 a9 ish or some draw.

It Deffo wasn't a rub down tho, the guy was good fun and we had some good banter, a nice hand shake at the end and I hope he goes well again tomorrow.

Great updates Rich, we decided to walk back using google map, only took us 75 minutes:-(

Nice to meet you yesterday Bobby, absolute gent at the table. We had a bit of a sick first table tbh, there was only really 2 easy spots. I should fold against you all day, especially when i tell you your hand, but i can't always be a hero. Had already made so many big folds in that. GL if you play today.

Was nice to meet you too Milli, I was hoping to have a chat with Eso too but in the first break he was on the phone and we ate something in the second break so we never got to chat.

Was an interesting first able for sure, I think that 9-10k ish pot early on set the tone a little.

It was pity we found a big hand together tho and so soon after that 'internet hand' with the sevens, that was some lay down.

cheers
