Title: DTD £50,000 Guaranteed £150 March Deepstack Day1b
Post by: TightEnd on March 17, 2012, 10:35:25 AM
90 played 1a last night, and 15 made it through

1b is from 2pm today as follows:

Sat 17th March    2:00 pm    Day 1b    £50k Guaranteed
Sun 18th March    12:00 pm    Day 2    £50k Guaranteed

15,000 chips and re-entry. 40 minute clock with three extra levels added, testing a new structure

Late registration until 9pm

"Our new mid monthly £150 Deepstack offers the same experience as our classic £300 Deepstack but for half the buy in! Guaranteed at a whopping £50,000 players have the option to enter via low buy in online and live satellites or buy-in directly for £150 + £18. For this, players get a true Deepstack experience - 15,000 chips, 40 minute clock, two Day 1's and the option to re-enter back into the tournament. Re-entry is available on day 1a and 1b, and players can re-enter back into the same day if they wish, but this is limited to once.

We hope this will appeal to all our players that loved the monthly 300 Deepstack as well as offering the lower bankroll players the opportunity to step up to a 2 day Deepstack event and gain valuable experience. "

Apart from the heights, not a bad likeness.

I just ordered a bacon butty - apparently it's called a "cob" down here? I'm was slightly concerned I was going to get a horse meat sandwich, but no, it's what they call a bread roll.

An interesting one here
on a K-10-9-8-3 board, Leon Iacono bets the river.
Mcbride calls fairly quickly.
As confidently as he can, Iacono says "I've got a Jack mate" and flips it over.
Mcbride nods and mucks, Iacono sure he had the worse hand

Hans Lillejord raises to 220 UTG +1, called pretty quickly by Lee Cockcroft, fodls round to Rob Day in the BB, who asks hans if he is raising with rubbish again.

Hans says "i have absolute crap mate"

Rob elects to call.

Flop 5h 8c 4d

Hans bets 525, Lee calls without a second thought and Rob thinks before throwing his 525 into the pot as well.

All check the 9h on the turn.

The river is the Ah.

Hans checks to Lee who bets out 1300 as quickly as he called the previous bets.

Rob says "Now I believe him" which I believe may be another term for "I've missed", and folds.

Hans open folds a highly relevant three of clubs.

Lee shows the Ad.

I'm none the wiser.

Misread on my part. I thought his jack paired the board. I had a 9 and mucked the winning hand!

Might be good for table image though. Shortly after I flopped a set and got good value on all streets. Up to 22k.

Good value?? I'll say lol.

You bet every street with a set and was called down all the way by Ace high, including a 5k river bet.

I would say you have cultivated a brilliant table image to get paid off like that - keep at it!! ;)

Winner of the Grand Prix here, and second in the £500 deepstack, Tommy Bingham had the dubious accolade of being the first man down.

Down doesn't even begin to cover it - he is gutted and blaming the lack of his lucky hat as it's the first time he's played without it.

I advised him to pop back home and pick it up before re-entering.

Ronaldo limps, as does Adam Daniel.
Habib Chatoo makes it 750, Ronaldo to 2,200, Daniel folds.
Chatoo to 6,700, Ronaldo jams for 15k, Chatoo calls.
Chatoo - KK
Ronaldo - 1010
Interesting, Ronaldo doesn't look too phased, it all looks safe for Chatoo until the river - 10.
Chatoo unlucky to be eliminated early on

1k in the middle on  8c Ahrt Qd board
after a series of multiple bets, Sarbjit Kular makes it 5,600.
Arkley All in for 16k.
They have a little chat, Arkley says "put it this way, I wont be re-entering. this is for my tournament life"
Sounds like he doesn't want to see any more cards.
Kular eventually calls with  Aspades Ks, behind the  Ahrt 8h of Arkley
Kh on the river doubles Kular, Arkley left with about 1k.

Herbie has been slow rolled not once but twice by Simon Ashford, who says it wasn't strictly a slow roll. Either time. Everyone else on the table thinks it strictly was - both times - but it's providing a lot of banter either way.

Funtime Frankie isn't having a fun time at all on the next table. He's rolling his eyes at players and not talking.

625 from Sadler pre, 4 callers.
Flop -  Qd 3s 5d
Sadler bets 1700, Iacono jams for 5,025 before asking if re-entry is available. Morreale all in for something similar, Sadler folds JJ face up.
Iacono -  Ahrt 4h
Morreale -  6s 4s
"oh sweet I'm ahead!"
5s on turn is the ultimate sweat, more outs for Morreale but  3c on the river means Ace high is good.

Sean Rigley is getting a hard time on table 27.

Apparently Sam Macdonald raised to 325 and got 4 callers, Wadey made it 1300, and still got 4 callers.

The flop was 8c 9d 2c.

Allplayers checked round to Wadey who jams pretty much his whole starting stack over the line, to show Aces after everyone folds.

Sean then claims he folded Ac Jc, much to Wadey's amusement.  Sean asks him would he call there and Wadey says

"Would I call there? With two overs, the nut flush draw, against someone with my reputation? I can't get it in fast enough"

Julian pipes up that he would call, as does Sam Macdonald and Paul Hardy.

Wadey continues saying if he doesn't win he simply re enters again. Julian then says if he doesn't win he just goes home and has a day off.

Paul Hardy then adds "I'd sooner pass a kidney stone than pass that."

He says he hasn't had any sleep and has now just donated 10K off to Sean Randall, when Sean had KK, and James didn't.

"nice hand" says Bingham
"I mean what are you doing..." Petrovs is stone cold faced
"no well played I joke I joke nice hand" Petrovs still stone faced in silence
Bingham now with head in hands "bring on the break"
awwwwwwkward....

Adam Daniel and Ronaldo in a hand.

Flop is Jh 4h Jc, turn is the 7h.

I come along as both players check the turn, there's about 4K in the middle.

River is an innocent 6s. Ronaldo inst shoves 28K into the middle.

Adam insta folds A Q face up.

Ronaldo starts to take the pot down, and Adam says (joking) "Hang on I might be callin yet!"

Ronaldo laughs and flips over 4 4  for a flopped full house.

Herbie has doubled up, well trebled up now from the 1300 he was down to.

Gets it all in and gets a call, herbie says "Thank you very much" and happily flips the bullets over.

His caller Chris Moore has JJ, no change by the river and Herbie is now up to 4700.

Lee taylor has just busted with qq against Adam Daniel's KK, and has trotted off to re enter.

Here's JJandellis - I think? - bonding with richard Young in seat 9 after finding out he is also a Geordie.

A load of limps, Iacono in the sb with  Ahrt Ac
he makes it 1700 with blinds 100/200, and finds 3 callers.
Flop -  Qh 5h 2d
Iacono makes it 6,100, folds to Sadler who jams for 18k, called by Iacono.
Sadler has  Ks Qc.
Turn -  5s, Sadler's King now dead
River -  Qc
Sick river for a 40k pot, Iacono out shortly after with a shortstack, is off to re-enter once he stops tilting.

Lucky by name...

Alan McBride has Q9 on a Q94 flop with 5 players in. He narrows the field down to two - him and Gordon Woodings - and the two of them see a turn - another Q.

All the chips fly in for Alan to table his full house, much to the disgust of Gordon, who has pocket 9s, for the losing full house.

143 players have entered/re entered today so far, still 79 short for the guarantee. Three hours left to buy in, and while it's possible we may get an influx of late arrivals who have been out celebrating Paddy's day, i think we're going to be relying on existing players taking advantage of the re entry system.

Blinds now 150/300 with a 25 ante, nreak in ten minutes.

very loud, keeping conversations going between about 3 tables, buying drinks for his table
Been very true so far, "I'll calll any bet" follwed by a call, "oh I only hit bottom pair" before his opponent bets, then showing bottom pair as well as "do you want me to call?" the players dictating his actions

Villain in hand is Christian dragomir ( well not really but that's who he reminds me of, very loose). so I calls with my pocket 9s and he goes what have you got..... Keith Smart - son of Billy - comes back from the break and screams "COME ONNNNNN" as he goes to sit down.

He's changed his top - he says it's his lucky one although I suspect it may be due to sweating issues - and taken his glassses off, he means business. Apparently.

First hand back James Tomlin limps in for 400 UTG +1, Keith shouts "I'm not folding" and as promised, doesn't. He makes the call with 16 yellow 25 chips, of which he has plenty.

Another 4 limpers include Ali and JJandellis (who has now made himself known at last lol), and as they are calling Keith informs us all he has a good feeling about this hand.

The flop is a non scary 3c 6h 8d.

James checks to keith who bets out 600. Evereyone folds and keith proudly shows his 3d 7d and teklls us it's nearly his favourite hand.

Then he laughs as he scoops even more yellow chips towards him and says "I was trying to get rid of these by calling and you all just give me more back".

On a flop of Ah 9c 4s keith calls a Ik bet from David Kittridge, after pre flop action.

He says "I think my ace is smaller than yours but Im willing to call and see"

the turn is another 4, pairing the board.

David bets out 5k.

Keith says, no you've got me, and folds A J face up.

David shows King high and scoops the chips towards him, while Keith texts his mum to tell her what the bad boy did to him.

Ali Mallu has doubled up and taken Keith smart out in the process.

Richard Young raised with AQ, called by Ali on the button holding 77 and called by Keith who had already limped in with 65.

The flop was 6 4 2 rainbow, all checked and Ali bet from the button.

Keith called, Richard folded.

Turn was another 4.

Ali went allin, Keith said "I'm ready to go home" and called with top pair and a gutshot draw.

The river was another 4 giving Ali the bigger full house with pocket 7s.

Unfortunately, when I got back it was to see a board of Ad Kc 8C Jc 6s, with james flipping over Ac 10s and Maria tabling 6c 7c, and most of James's chips heading over to Maria.

Both players turn over Kings.

Biiiiiig sweat for Paul Grummit who has Ks Kd

Turn

Funtime Frankie is struggling to find a hand to ship his 6k in with.

He asks me to touch him for luck. (On the hand for all you dirty minds out there)

He was lucky - lucky he folded when the action went like this:

Tan le raises to 2k.

Rob Day makes it 5,500.

Folds round to Hans Lillejord (Will) who declares ALLIN.

Mo sadiq pretty much snap folds his pocket tens ( I had a sneaky peek)

Tan le folds and action back to Rob day who is faced with the decision for his tournament life.

he makes the call and says "Go on Will I'll gamble with you".

Will has K K and Rob shows A K

Flop is 8 A 8 5 4 and Rob day is on about 60K.

Paul Pham Phu having a hard time
I've seen him get shown 3 bluffs now
Just was in a pot with Q-J-10-9-8 on the board, his opponent showed 87 - Phu mucked, despite any two cards winning him a split pot, after the TD explained he had to show two cards to win the pot, and was yet to turn his cards over, even after being nudged in the right direction

Is it too late for someone to gratituously buy me in?

I feel like I've boobed by missing out on this overlay.

If you want to talk boobs, overlay and gratituously, you really should be on a certain dealer's table right now.

Picks pls

Into Levell 11, just two levels remaining.
Blinds now 500/1000/100, 204 entries in the end meaning it missed the Guarantee, 66 remaining.
Average is 46k, my guess is 35 will be returning tomorrow

Trust me I tried, but photos don't quite capture the essence of the effect she has when she riffles the cards.

Chris Forde gets it in with KQ
called by the AK of Gary Strang
Q on the flop, A on the turn means Forde is gone.

Jose Pena - salsa boy to his friends - raises to 1800 and is called by Ian Turner.

Ian has just bet out of turn twice and Jose is accusing him of being on tilt.

Ian says he doesn't go on tilt.

The flop comes Q A 4 and Jose checks, wherupon Ian bets 900 on the button.

Jose he say yeh and call.

Turn (7)  and river (Q) both fired by Ian, check called by Jose, who shows A 8 on the river to take the pot.

If he wasn't on tilt before, he may well be now.

I make it out to be just £2,600 short of the overlay, sounds like a very small amount of money after you put 18k out there!

He meandered over here to tell me but I stopped him short with the threat of decpaitation if he subjected me to any more bad beat stories tonight.

We settled on he had 3 bigs left and wasn't coming back tomorrow that short.

Sadler had a few chips left, jammed with 34
Anon jams with KJ
Kurti jams with A10 - Anon vs Kurti is for a lot more chips
Board runs - 2-Q-2-3-K

Anon wins a pot of about 40k I believe.
He offers to shake Kurti's hand
"no I wont shake hands get away"
Anon says "coming don't fall out with me over a hand, be friendly!"
Kurti having none of it, seems to be tilting

Fireworks go off, Kurti gets his 35k stack in with  Jh Ts
Sidhu well ahead with  Ks Js
Turn -  Td
"YES! THATS HOW YOU PLAY POKER"
big sigh from Sidhu who is unable to improve on the river, a big 75k pot for Kurti
He gets a slap on the wrist after shouting, responding "I buy into this tournament, i SHOUT when I win!"

Just to add.. Day then said "If you spike a King or a 4, that's so sick" When he didn't improve, Day then clapped him on the shoulder and declared "Well played"

Anon turned to Rob and said "anytime you want to play me heads up, for any amount, I'm there"

I'd love to print a picture, as they look like twins, but can't due to Anon being Anon.

So this one will have to do instead.

Kevin Allen is quietly building up a stack.

Every time I watch his table he seems to be putting someone to the test with 3, 4 and 5 bets, and never having to show a card.

He's now up to 70K with zero showdowns.

Unfortunately, when I got back it was to see a board of Ad Kc 8C Jc 6s, with james flipping over Ac 10s and Maria tabling 6c 7c, and most of James's chips heading over to Maria.

Maria means business: she's on about 70 K now after firing each street on a 7 Q 10 9 2 board, getting Stan Wallace to fold on the river after he missed his straight and flush draw.

Maria had also missed but fortunately she has an honest face.

horrible hand caroline it was actually maria raised to 2100 pre im BB i flat flop  7d Qs Td , i led for 2750 maria flat called , turn 9c , i check maria bet 2100 , i flat called river was  2s i check to call but her bet was 2700 i felt she thought i missed my flush and wanted paying off with her straight KJ i had  8d 9d the bad end straight i made the fold but felt it was right

Thought id log in to comment on this... i really cant see why i would call my whole stack off on a draw. i have a flush draw, no overcards at all. i thought my ace was maybe live but wadey shows AA. i think the wrong player in this hand is being given a hard time! theres less than 4k in the pot and Wadey shoves 13k into it when he has 3 opponents. there are no 2 cards that i would put 13k into that pot with.

just sayin...

Not even  9c 9d, top set backdoor flush draw?! I agree with the fold, at very best your flipping, and most of the time your well behind as per this case, drawing to a club. I also disagree with the shove being the right move. Understandably the flush draw is a possibility, but surely only gets called by better hands ie a set.

100% AGREE WITH YOU, IN THIS SITUATION I BELIEVE THAT WADEY ONLY GETS A CALLER IF HE IS BEAT. MAYBE THE 1 HAND THAT I COULD FIND A CALL WITH AND BE BEAT IS AC 9C, THATS STILL A DECISION WITH 4K IN THE POT.
