Title: DTD £500 Deepstack £200,000 Gtd: Day1b
Post by: TightEnd on May 06, 2012, 10:30:18 AM
From 2pm Day1b of the May £500 Deepstack, £200,000 Guaranteed

The monthly 500 Deepstack was launched at the beginning of 2012 in replace of the signature 300 Deepstack, which had been running each month since February 2008. In its first month the 500 Deepstack attracted 433 entries generating a £216,500 prize pool and a top prize of over £61,000!

With 30,000 chips, double the starting stack of its predecessor, and an increased prizepool, there's no wonder this event continues to be the most popular event each month.

As Simon Trumper said this morning

"Hi All

Just 150 entries yesterday in the £500, we need 294 tomorrow, not likely so dont miss out on what could be a huge overlay.

Entry from 2pm to 9pm.

Cheers

ACES"

294 is certainly an ask for today. Likely to be a great value guarantee

Action from Kassouf vs Odetoyinbo... none of us saw this coming
300 from Kassouf on the button, Odetoyinbo makes it 2,300 in the bb, who just keeps making huge 3bets vs him - this the smallest one so far
"wow I don't know if I'm 3 betting or flatting, my hands that big" says Kassouf who calls

Flop -  Ac 5d 8h
Odetoyinbo checks, Kassouf bets 3,250 eventually after plenty of talk, Odetoyinbo says talk is cheap, you're making me yawn
"Are you going to re enter when I bust you?" says Kassouf
I'm currently standing behind Liam Batey who I note is turning his iPod up to full volume
Odetoyinbo calls

Turn -  3d
Odetoyinbo checks, Kasouf says "24 got there, 24 of diamonds, that's beautiful!"
Rob Yong now in attendance, Odetoyinbo says "you need to stay for this one until the end"
"It's not going to the river" says Kassouf, betting 10k
Insta call from Odetoyinbo

River -  Qc
Odetoyinbo checks, after much though Kassouf checks and shows  Aspades Ks
"Ace King?" says Odetoyinbo, Ceri Rees behind me says "it's good"
Odetoyinbo shows an Ace, big pot for Kassouf

I look towards Kassouf's table and I see Liam Batey raising his eyebrow
6k in the middle on  6h 6d Kh 8s
Kinghorn checks, Kassouf bets 6,100
"I don't want to see any more cards, I'm not bluffing. I show if you fold, I show if you call"
Kinghorn calls
River -  Kd
Kinghorn bets out 11k
as expected Kassouf tanks "if it was a heart I'd have folded yesterday"
He tanks then eventually says "I give you respect this one time" showing a  8h
Batey with the continued raised eyebrow look

Adam Daniel makes it 300 pre, 3 callers.
Stearn makes it 1,200, Daniel to 4k. The rest get out the way, Stearn calls.
Daniel mutters to us that he has Aces
Flop -  Ts Qd Jd
Possibly one of the worst flops for Daniel, especially when Stearn puts him all in for 15k
Daniel fuming, instantly picks his cards up and goes to throw them in to the muck... but keeps hold of them
He tanks and tanks, saying how tilting it is, admitting he has Aces
tanks for a good few minutes and calls
Stearn -  Ahrt Kh
Daniel -  Ad Ac
Turn -  Kd
"diamond then, go on then" says Daniel
River -  3d
"yes, I deserve some luck this weekend!"
Stearrn and the table say it's a horrible call, Daniel's reply is "it's a weird bet!"
Up to about 40k, is it awful that I felt bad for him when he found out Stearn had AK?

Odetoyinbo check calls 10,000

Holland calls creating a 75,000 pot with  7d 4d flopped straight and open ended straight flush draw

turn  6s which would have housed Deadman up

river a blank for Pena

Holland chip leader, pena out

142    Alan Stearn
143    Adebayo Odetoyinbo

blinds go 100-200 ra 25

Average 32,000

Jamie Hollands and Adam Daniel chip leaders with 75-80,000 each

"Ok guys

We just started Day 1b with 115 players, i can predict that the overlay will be between £35,000 - £50,000 !!!!!

You have until 9pm to enter and if we are going to lose this sort of money would rather it goes to players tthat have supported us over the last 4 years so tell all your mates and come and take advantage of this rare scheduling disaster.

We definitely got something wrong whether it was the guarantee, the fact that the FA CUP was yesterday or having Day1b on a Sunday bank holiday, anyway, too late to do anything now so come and get it.

Cheers

Who said this in the break, in my earshot

"To be frank, DTD is the environment where my awesomeness most comes to the fore"

The person is a blonde member, photographed on the thread today

(Not John Black, he's not here today)

Alex 'mfckin' Martin obviously.

I join a big hand, 4 way on the turn

Board  Kd 6h 8s 2h

Three checks to Jamie Hollands the chip leader who bets 6,100

the small blind calls and David Lloyd calls

river  8h

Both check to Hollands who fires 16,100 into about 35,000

the blind folds, Lloyd thinks and thinks and calls with  9h 7h

The flush is good, Hollands mucks

Rastafish on the table "what took you so long/ you were always calling. I call straight away there. what were we waiting for?"

The mood has got a little more serious in here...
Missed the hand, but by the sounds of it Eirimas Livonas got very lucky against Algernon Buchanan to elliminate him
as soon as he got the chips Eirimas Livonas said "go on, out out out" shooing him away with his hand
First ever time I've seen Algernon get annoyed by a player, normally a very calm man, but was not happy by the lack of sportsmanship Eirimas Livonas showed
"why is he so angry, I beat him!"
Algernon has now re-entered

Gl today girgy ,I had the best view of the Vegas girls from table 14 seat 1 yesterday , it was the best bit of a crap day
Did get to see Ali mallu in action too he played so well, different from what I expected ,when he sat down I said to him " I'm going out for a cigarette try not to lose all them chips while I'm gone " lol he didn't ,he had the best hand at every showdown and it was good to see
Ryan spittles played well till a massive spew / bluff too

Not exactly true, he played horribly when I was there, made some spewy peels, limp shoved TT into AA and got it in with 10-high vs my QQ in a ridic bad spot for his tourney life. Only played with him for an hour or so, but seems unlikely there hadn't been more of this previously.

Danny Toffel opens to 1125 at 150-300 ra 25

One caller, Alex Martin then calls on the button

The big blind comes along too

The four see a  7h Jd 4s flop

Toffel leads for 1,500

The man in the middle calls

Alex calls

turn  8h

Toffel 2,400

Folded to Alex who makes it 7,500

Back to Toffel who quickly flicks in the call

river  4h

Toffel instantly shoves 30,000 or so, which covers Alex (Alex's stack is top middle in the picture)

Alex grimaces, leans back, stands up, grimaces some more

"Why shove?" he mutters to himself

"The nut worst river for me, paired and a heart" he says to himself

After a few minutes Toffel calls the clock on him

After only a few seconds Alex folds ( Td 9h he shows me and tells the table after)

Toffel reveals  Jc Jd

As Alex wanders past the updating mothership on hsi way for a smoke he tells me

"I was definitely calling until he called the clock. At that point I thought I had to fold"

McCluskey 2,200

Kassouf up to it again
on a  Qh 8h Qd 3c board he bets 8,500, Kinghorn calls
River -  8d
Kassouf all in for 10,100, Kinghorn tanking
"Tell me what you've got, I'lll tell you if i want you to call
I don't have a Queen or an 8. I took a gamble on you not having a Queen, thought you were good enough to fold an 8
You've been counterfeited, you can't call"
Kinghorn eventually calls with  Kc Kh
Kassouf shows  Ad Aspades doubling up

I will take a stab at 100 for the £150

I've successfully resisted the urge to come and late-reg for this for a couple of reasons.

Reason one is that £500 is a chunk and reason two being that I am currently feeling fairly average at the pokerz.

Reasons three and four are that I am nice and snug at home and on my third glass of vino...

Enjoying the updates even more now that dithering has ceased.

tonytats Bedford all in on the small blind for about 55,000

Back to Kassoof

Who talks. Talks some more.

Anyone would think Bedford had Aces or Kings from his body language and general mood

6,500 in the middle on  9h 4h 8s
Wadey playing a 25k stack bets 3,700
Rob Boon to 13,700 - not a small raise then
Wadey tanks, gets it in, called
Boon -  9d 8d
Wadey -  Jd Jh
Ts on turn increase his outs, river boats Boon up
Wadey says "3 times he raised that much with hands like that"
Wadey showing his immense talent on reading situations, then completely ignoring it. :)

Play the hand with Ian Gascoigne.
Looks down at  Ad Ts playing 35k, makes it 2,400. 3 callers
Flop -  Ac 7c 6s
check, Gascoigne checks. Kenny Prazer bets 5,200, Taylor folds, Anon calls.
Gascoigne sees Anon isn't playing much, makes it 11k.
Prazer calls, Anon calls.
Turn -  Tc
Anon checks playing 725 chips, Gascoigne ships for 22k.
Prazer tank folds, Anon tanks for about 40 seconds with 725 chips
I'm trying not to giggle, as is the rest of the table. Gascoigne deadly serious, hoping this doesn't require a river card.
eventually Anon calls with  5s 8h, river is  3d

Livonas 5,000 UTG

Jon Humphrey 28,000 all in UTG+1

Livonas who I think is pretty drunk, stands up, slurs something and palms some chips in

This is a call

Livonas 8-8

Humphrey 5-5 with the  5s

Livonas "So, you are behind"

 4s 6s 2h Aspades

A spade would be popular with most of the table, I gather

This is a very interesting one
notepad at the ready

Rastafish limps, Anon limps, Paul Skipper limps.
Ready?

Sarbjit Kular makes it 16k, playing 40k.
Fish flats, Anon all in for 50k. Skipper with 30k says "I got value" and calls.
Kular eventually jams for his 40k stack. Rasta priced in and can't fold since he has stacks of chips behind, calls.

Kular -  Ac 3c
Anon -  Qd Qs
Skipper -  4h 2h
Rastafish -  Kc Qc

Flop -  3h Kd Js, Fish into the lead.
Turn -  Ahrt, Kular in the lead, Anon drawing dead, Skipper with a straight flush draw.
Fish shouting "for yesterday, come on, for yesterday" after losing with set over set vs overpair.

26    4    Jamie Kirkpatrick
26    5    Tony Bedford 80,000

33    7    Nathan Watson
33    8    Mindaugas Bacevicius

34    4    Alex Harrison
34    5    Luke Facer

34    7    Arron Woodcock 60,000
34    8    Eirimas Livonas 280,000

A lively verbal table. Dean is limbering up to take on the volcanic Lithuanian. Nick Hicks, polite, even of temperament, lies in wait as a silent assassin to chips up fro grabs around him

35    1    Paul Skipper
35    2    Sarbjit Kular
35    3    Paul Clark
35    4    Tom Chenna

35    6    Simon Deadman
35    7    David Newman
35    8    Colburn Tomlin 300,000

Rastafish the chip leader. If he finals at least it means he won't be my co-commentator on the live stream for the final (never again). Go Colburn!

River -  Ks

"YES FIIIIIIIIISH!!!"
The rail ecstatic, "FOR YESTERDAY, HE SAW! BRING ME MY CHIPS, BRING ME MORE PLAYERS!!!!!"

Puts Rastafish on about 300k having eliminated 3 in one hand.

It's never ending!  How lucky does this guy get.

Play has finished with around 70 left

Add those to the 40 through from yesterday and 110 will be back for Day 2 tomorrow at 1.30pm, and those 110 will be fighting over the £200,000 prize pool including just under £40,000 of overlay. This is one to run well in!

As we said earlier 2500-5000 and 5000-10000 are added into tomorrow, compared to the old Deepstack structure. blinds begin at 1500-3000 and the average stack on commencement will be in the region of 35xbb

Chip counts will be along as soon as I have them.

Has someone beaten the 255,000 that Skalie achieved yesterday?

Has Rastafish shut up?

Has Livonas drunk the place dry?

Stay tuned for another exciting episode of "Deepstack Dramas" over the course of the next 24 hours

Livonas on the last hand of the night raised 6,000 UTG

James Keys shoved 45,000 in the small blind with KQ suited, spades

Livonas called with 7-8 suited and the flop was

A-10-8 two spades

Keys has a Gutshot, two overs and the flush draw

Can he hit?

Nope, he's out on the last hand

Mitch is such a hero. Was talking to him on the last break before the end of the day, he had like 24k. Go play the £30, look up an hour later and hes got 200k. WAL.

Getttt

Tomorrow's gonna be epic! Need a hand with updates tighty? Could lighten the load? Rastafish>Mitch, where he belongs.

Gogo Gascoigne and maria too

Tighty may be too coy to agree, but that would be lovely if you could, Alex, & thank you for offering.
