Title: WSOP Mixed Game, plus Main Event, package (sold out)
Post by: easypickings on May 28, 2012, 12:39:23 PM
Hey guys,

I will be going to Vegas for the WSOP later this week, and once again will have a tournament schedule focused on the mixed game events. I have constructed a $35,500 package of mixed game events (plus the main event), which I will be selling at 1.1

I consider this a very good price. The mixed-game events always attract a good number of no-limit players shooting for a bracelet, and players who are not strong in that particular game. The price is also good because the package includes the Main Event (occupying 28% of the package), which is an event I believe any reasonable player can still sell at at least 1.4.

The good price is a balance for the fact that I am selling action only as the whole package.

I started learning the mixed games in January 2010, in preparation for the 2010 WSOP, and have now had three concentrated periods of mixed game lessons (for 3+ months before each WSOP), where I have played the games heavily on Stars, and moreover, had a ton of training each year from the top players in each particular game. I think the value for the package comes from the fact that I have always balanced time to make sure that I am equally strong at each of the games.

This is the package of events:

10th June- $2500 2-7 triple draw lowball (limit)
11th June- $5000 Omaha eight-or-better
13th June- $1500 HORSE
15th June- $1500 2-7 lowball no limit
16th June- $10000 HORSE (*half action)
19th June- $2500 8-game mixed event
29th June- $2500 10-game mixed event
5th July- $10000 2-7 lowball (*half action)
9th July- $10000 Main Event no-limit holdem (full action)

For a total package price of $35,500

So, at a price of 1.1, the package is priced as:

0.5%= $195.25
1%= $390.50
2%= $781.00
5%= $1952.50
10%= $3905.00

-I have included the two mixed game $10,000 events as "half action." This is to balance them taking a overly big proportion, and importance, in the package. It means that I am treating them for the package as $5000 events. So, if you buy 2% of the package, you will recieve 2% of any cash for all non-10k events and $10k Main Event, and 1% of any cash for the two 10k mixed-game events.

This is my HM, for the last two year's WSOP action:

http://pokerdb.thehendonmob.com/player.php?a=r&n=54053

I have therefore played the last two years' mixed game events at a small loss, but consider this run bad, in having my better runs in the smaller buy-ins events. With another period of training/study behind me, I feel also I am going into this WSOP stronger than ever in the mixed games. Hopefully, this is backed up by a 3rd place finish in the £2k European eight-game championships at the 2011 EPT London, which I sold action for on Blonde.

Just a few notes:

-Instant refunds via bank/Stars/cash in Vegas for any events that I do not enter. I will be playing no poker this Summer apart from tournies at the Rio, so the only possible reason for non-entry would be that I am still in another tournament. I would consider it unlikely that I will miss more than one tournament, and very probably miss none.

- I will be playing other tournaments at the WSOP. This list represents the mixed game events that I am SURE I will play, if not in another tournament on the list.

 - Payment via bank, Stars or Moneybookers to reserve a piece. Although it is a package, I will obviously pay out INSTANTLY after each event by Stars/bank/Moneybookers, plus the option of cash in Vegas.

- I will be selling up to 50% of the package (therefore 50% of the smaller events and Main Event, and 25% of the mixed-game $10k events)

- Updates in running of all events on the list.

- Any questions, please ask. Sorry that it is complicated, just wanted to work through every eventuality.

Hi Stuart,

This looks a great value investment.

If you have a result early in the package, will you be attempting to buy the investors out?

Sorry for asking this question, but I need to ask it because in the "other" thread Flushy said you tried to buy back back action after having a bink in a package he bought a share in, and huge amount of the value comes from the Main Event at 1.1!

Thanks

Keith

Keith

Good question, cheers Keith.

The answer is no.

The construction of the package is with a heavy acknowledgement that a big part of the value comes from selling the $10k Main Event at 1.1 (Although, I strongly believe that the package would still be good value as a mixed-game package, without the Main Event).

"Buying back" was a one-off deal between me and Flushy (and iirc Dubai). It goes without saying that once a piece is sold, the buyer then owns it. Therefore, "buying back" can only originate with an offer from the original seller to the owner at a higher price than first sold, which the owner obviously as no obligation at all to even consider.

Whilst in theory it might be possible for me to offer to buy Main Event pieces back at much higher price than 1.1, it isn't quite in the spirit of this one, and I will say categorically no

3.5% booked.

Apparently I have exceeded my PMS per hour quota, but will get a PM across as soon as I am allowed!

So, package is sold out.

I will be updating regularly on each event on the thread, including an explanation and rules of each of the unfamilar games.

Congrats on selling out so quickly Stu.

As Keith said, this is probably the best value package I've ever seen on here.

Perhaps you should auction your action off next year!

Title: Re: WSOP Mixed Game, plus Main Event, package (SOLD OUT)
Post by: easypickings on May 28, 2012, 09:02:47 PM
Just incase anyone is still interested after the main package has sold out, the remaining action that is avaliable is the 25% of both $10k mixed game events that wasn't in the original package because of the "half action."

So, at the moment, 25% of those two events is sold, but I am happy to sell the other 25% of both as a duel-package. I will sell, if there is any interest, at 1.075, to balance the fact it does not include the Main Event value.

The events are:

$10k HORSE Saturday June 16th, 5pm
$10k 2-7 lowball, no limit, Thursday 5th July, 5pm

The $10k HORSE event I actually think of as my strongest event, as hopefully my strength is being equally strong across all the games. The 5-game mix is holdem, omaha-eight-or-better, razz, stud, and stud-eight-or-better, and so relies heavily on the stud mix.

The $10k 2-7 lowball event is great value, as it attracts the top holdem players, who are unfamiliar with 2-7 no limit. There are two events in the Series, and last year I cashed in the $1.5k 2-7 lowball event, and finished 17th (just outside the money) in this event, the $10k deuce-to-seven.

So, for a package of $20,000, at 1.075

1% = $215
2% = $430
5% = $1075
etc

Selling up to 25%

2-7 triple draw, day 1

Too tired to write very much at the moment, but just to update that day one of the first event has gone well, as in the 2-7 triple draw,  i have turned the 7,500 starting stack into 19,400.

Will update tomorrow

Morning Stu.

I'm now very confused, too! Hope it's OK if I reproduce the PM's, nothing "personal" in them.

You PM'd me on June 9th (that Post was June 6th) & you said.....

Dear tikay,

That's great, thanks so much. Recieved it already.

So, re the main event, you actually already have 3% of that, as in the original package, it is "full action," it is only the 2 $10k mixed game events that were "half action." So, you have 2.5% of the 2 $10k mixed events now (1.5% in package 1, and a further 1% on package 2), and 3% of all other events, including the main event.

Does that make sense sorry?

All the best, see you out here v soon

Does that now answer the question? Do I owe you more cash now?

If it helps, I have so far sent you exactly £900, based on your PM dated June 6....

Young man,

Great, thanks so much for that.

So, just to confirm, you have 3% of package 1, and 1% of package 2.

Price is $390.50 per 1% of package 1, and $215 for 1% of package 2, for a total of $1386.50

See you in Vegas, can't wait.

Stu

So I THINK I may still owe you for the latest 2% of the Main, perhaps?

PS - Liking "Young Man".  ;)

Please let him live a stress free existence and win the lot.  I think you are right and owe him $430.  That will give you 4.5% of the two 10ks and 3% of the rest in total.

If this isn't where you want to be I'll take anything you bought accidentally so our man has nothing to worry about when he wakes up.

PS - Liking "Young Man".  ;)

Young man,

Thanks very much, sorry for the confusion, it's caused by me and by the "half action" on the two events in package 1.

So, just to confirm, at the moment, you have booked and paid for 3% of package 1, and 1% of package. In package 1, the $10k Horse and $10k 2-7 lowball are "half action," but the Main Event is "full action," so you have 3% of the smaller mixed game events, 3% of the Main event, and 2.5% of the 2 $10k mixed events.

So, anything up to 2% for package 2 is very much avaliable. That would cost $430. However, to make up to 3% in all events, you need only to buy a further 0.5% of package 2, which would cost $107.50. Completely up to you.

OK, I will take that 0.5% please, & will send you the £ equivelant of $107.50 overnight via Bank Tx. That keeps it nice & neat then, 3% of everything.

Would you please try & reserve the last bit for 24 hours, as if I understood him correctly, Doobsy wanted a bit of it, or I think he did. I think you spoke highly of him whilst commentating on 865. ;) (See his "Rest" note @ 11.24 this morning).

Day two, triple draw

Making the short walk downstairs soon for the restart of the triple draw, where i have 19,400, which is almost exactly average with 98 left.

Yestreday was pleasing, as i had a really tough six-handed table draw, which remained for most of the day. The two to my left were Elky (very impressive to see a NLHE superstar very proficient at a random mixed game), and a guy called Vincent van der fluit, who amusingly gave me tons of coaching in the game last year (this keeps on happens to me in these events with my coaches), and is one of the best players of the game there is. The overall standard of the tournament feels still more encouraging than that, and i am very excited for today. Will update as soon as it's done.

let's gooooooo

His min cash is now $6,250.

Stu's stack appears to be static, but he has moved up a spot to 15th after Farzad Bonyazi lost a big pot.

44,000 @ 1,500/3,000.

Come on Stu, one decent hand will get you right back in this.

Finished 16th for $6,250.

Really gutted at the moment, although I wouldn't have done anything differently today- just couldn't make a hand after I hit my height of 72k. It's tough to come down to the last three tables in a bracelet event, start dreaming, and then hit the run bad. Full report coming soon.

*** The deep run means i just missed registration for the $5k omaha-eight-or-better. I will be snap refunding on this, but also offering people the option to switch this $5k stake to two events in no-limit holdem, which should both be good value. They are

Thursday 14th June, no limit holdem 4-handed, $2500
Monday 25th June, no limit holdem, $2500

I will assume REFUND (as this was what was originally stated) unless people post or PM "switch." Obviously refund is what was agreed already, but I thought I would offer people the option, andeds hopefully the events will be good value, especially as 4-handed NLHE is the game i grind the whole time online.

*** Please send bank details, Stars name, or "cash in Vegas" as soon as you would like the current cash, and $5k omaha-hi-lo refund, if you would like that.

Gutted about this one, but fun start, and really excited for the other events.

Next up is $1500 HORSE on Wednesday

Wednesday 14th, $1500 HORSE

An unfortunate day in the HORSE just ended in level six, as I lost a razz pot to Jimmy Fricke.

I felt I played without error, but couldn't win two pots in a row today. The tone was maybe set on my very first hand, where I checked raised the 2h3h9cJhQh river with xxkh4h, and got flat caled, and shown xxAh8h (for the nut flush), which was slightly over-fearful of a straight flush in limit poker to which he had one blocker!

In level 3, I lost a big stud pot with (aa)ka24 (q), which got beaten by (xx)8jt9(x), which looked very much like a straight, but ultimately was eights full of tens!

The next tourney is tomorrow's $2500 4-handed NLHE, for anyone who has opted for "switch."

Thursday 15th June, 4-handed no limit holdem, $2500

OUCH

Got back to flat, and still gutted about this one (which is rare!)

Felt such a great tournament, had a good table, really exciting to play an intense four handed game, was going really good, and had turned 7.5k into 19.8k almost without showdown. Then..

Raise 44 UTG (also the cutoff, lol) to 625 at 150/300 (25), table "inexperienced player" 3bets to 1625. He has a big hand, but it is an easy set-mine, and he may well check down ace-king.

Flop 8s4s3c, I flop the middle set. I check, he bets 2400, I check raise to 7,400, he moves all-in, I call, he has 9h9d. 42k pot.

Turn ten, river 9. Brutal moment.

Next two tournaments are the $1500 2-7 lowball at 5pm tomorrow, and $10k HORSE at 5pm, Saturday

2-7 lowball, $1500, Friday 15th June

I have 26,525 going back into day two, average is 15kish wiith like 77 left. Really fun day, it felt like it went really well, and it was possible to make a lot of chips without showdown.

The pot of the day was a 16k pot against a guy called John Monnette, don't know if that is a name anyone knows? He was definitely the most unpleasant player I've ever played against, snapping unfairly at the dealer at every tiny little thing. The pot, which was a completely standard tough pot, ended with him giving the dealers a rest and snapping at me, "are you **** with me?" Really strange behaviour for someone who has already won a bracelet, so I gave him a new nickname, John Moanette. (http://www.pokernews.com/live-reporting/2012-world-series-of-poker/event-30-2-7-draw-lowball/?page=3)

The pot itself was really interesting, and strange for him to think I had an easy decision. UTG raises to 400, I have pat 97543 and 3bet UTG +1 to 1,300, and Moanette in the big blind moves in his 7,500 stack. UTG passes, and I am calling 6,200 to win 16.2k pot. It felt incredibly tight, as his range against an UTG+1 3-bettor should be only pat nines, and premium wheels draws. I worked out I was beaten by 20 hands, guessed I beat 14 pat hands and had 66% equity against 4 combos of wheel draws. So, I eventually made a borderline call, it went pat-pat, and he mucked what must have been a 98, and then snapped at me, implying it was an easy decision.

The rest of the day went pretty well, i ran good, and finished with 26,525 from a 4,500 starting stack.

**10k HORSE- 2-7 restarts at 2pm, the HORSE starts at 5pm, and late-reg is open til 9.45pm. I will snap late-reg, any time up to the last time, when I bust the 2-7, as in a HORSE tournament where you get full starting stack, it loses no value at all. So, I would still have to be very deep in the 2-7 ( I would guess final 9), if I was to miss the HORSE.

From WSOP site,

No Stutter for Rutter

Stuart Rutter is off to a flier after he eliminated Nick Brancato.

There was an under-the-gun open that Rutter three-bet to 3,600 from the hijack. Brancato was in the cut-0ff and shoved for around 19,000. The original raiser folded and Rutter tank-called.

Both players stood pat and their hands were opened.

Rutter: 96543
Brancato: 97432  for a ninety-seven smooth that still lost.

Stuart Rutter   40,000   13,425
Nick Brancato   0

WSOP updates,

6/16/2012 4:01:25 PM PST (about 9 minutes ago)

Break Time

We are on a 20-minute break and still two spots off the money.

6/16/2012 4:00:23 PM PST (about 10 minutes ago)

Soft Bubble For Turner

We are still two spots away from the money, but busting out right now sure feels like bubbling the event. Jon Turner just moved all in for right around 11,000 chips from the cutoff and Stuart Rutter made the call from the small blind.

Rutter immediately drew one cards after which Turner went into the tank. All the players that stood and sat behind him could see he was holding Q10 953 as he picked his cards up from the table. Turner kept tapping the  Q and eventually he made up his mind not to break his hand.

Rutter turned over7642and was drawing very live to bust his opponent. Rutter drew the 3 and knocked Turner out. We are down to 37 players.

Stuart Rutter   63,500   23,500
Jon Turner   0   -25,450

Stuart Rutter has taken care of a player at his table. Play is now hand for hand until we lose one more player.

Rutter raise-called an all-in shove, and stood pat with . 89532
His opponent drew one with  but was handed a  and was eliminated.

Stuart Rutter

Bubble burst straight after. Stu up with leaders, gl !

Finished 10th in the triple draw, for $5995. (calling it 6k for the purposes of the stake)

Full update tomorrow (as there is a lot!), but basicaly felt it went really well, and ran out of luck from 14 players left. My exit hand saw Mizrachi raise  the button to 5k, I shipped my 29k with 97654 pat, and he called with 9653, drawing to just a 2,4 or 7, and he peeled a 2.

Will write the full update later, as feeling exhausted, really gutted to come close in this one, although it was overall alot of fun. And I need to sort payouts, for this and the HORSE.

**10k HORSE. Unfortunately didn't make registration, and ultimately missed it by 7 minutes (the time it took me to bust the 2-7 after the dinner break), which is a real shame. Very sorry to miss it, especially to package 2ers, but it felt right to play the 2-7 the day before, as it would need me to finish in the top 9 or 10 to miss the HORSE. And that is exactly what happenend, unfortuantely in the worst possible way of that scenario finishing 10th! So, snap refunding obviously, please send Stars name, bank deets, or Moneybookers, and I'll send it over.**

So, to recap, current 1% values of:

package 1- $6,250 triple draw cash, $6k 2-7 lowball cash, and half of HORSE refund (as it was "half action")= $17,750/100 = $177.50
package 2- HORSE refund = $10,750/100= $107.50

Well played Stu, mbn to get those pat hands...  Against Moanetti, do you not have to factor in that some of the time he will be rougher than you imagined, trying to get you to break?

Also, figured you'd just reg the HORSE and miss a few blinds, but whatever you wanted to do is your call.

Well done so far, keep it up =)

Will try and meet you in Vegas to sort out $$

Simon, yes I definitely did consider the possiblity of regging the HORSE, as it realistically was a reasonable chance that I would only miss 6/7 minutes, but I decided it was very much impossible, as there was also a good chance that I would double up and stay around for long enough that I would cause real damage to my stack in the HORSE.

Look forward to meeting you in Vegas glgl

Logging into Stars from the US is fine Stu, you just get a popup saying not to try and play real money games or do transfers but for checking balances/transfer history its fine.

$2500 8-game mix, day 1

Through with 10,850, just under average with 200ish left.

Not a vintage day obv., but one I'm really pleased about, as it was a really tough grind all day. Lost three ridiculous pots in stud-8, omaha-8 and PLO all to Victor Randim, to put me short, and really glad to grind back each time.

Restart 2pm tomorrow

Thursday 20th June, $2500 8-game mix, day 2

OUT of the 8-game unfortunately, in level 11, the third level of the day. Iroincally, my downfall came in no limit holdem, but it was a nothing-to-do spot. I had got up to 14k, Brett Richie raised the cut-off to 800 at 150-300(25), I had qsqh and made it 2,600, and Cindy Violette SNAP shoved the small blind for 8.7k. I actually didn't like it at all, and thought for a while, but have to call getting almost exactly 2-1, in a spot where she can obv have tt, jj, or ak at the minimum.

She had kings, and the board ran out dry, which left me short with 5.3k, which was not enough to survive a 600-1200 (200/200) card-dead stud round, and then an exit hand of as2s8d8c vs ax3x3ckd AIPF on a247k.

I was disappointed about this one, as I managed to fight back from short four times, but eventually fell over the edge.

Next event in pacakge one is the ten-game mix, which should be a great event.

Next tournament on the package is today (Friday's) 10-game mix event. Can't wait for it.

Those ten games are NLHE, holdem, razz, stud, stud-8, PLO, Omaha-8, triple draw, single draw and badugi. Average competency for most players last year was probably in about 7/8 of the games!

Friday 28th June, $2500 10-game mix

Unfortunately, a frustrating day hit the wrong tournament, as this six-handed ten-game event was definitely one of the most exciting of the series. I couldn't win a pot of any size at the limit games, which made for a disappointingly early bust out at the start of level six. In my exit hand, young stud grinder raised at 2-7 TD, and I 3bet the small blind with 23456 (drawing to 2345). He called and surprisingly drew three. I bet the flop dark thus, and paired my three. He callled and drew two on the next draw. I made 23459, and he called my slightly under-bet all-in, and drew one to his 7642, drawing to a 3,5, or 8 to beat me. He gave a frustratingly long squeeze, and so the 3 that he eventually popped on the table somehow felt inevitable. Felt that I didn't really do anything wrong today at all, just couldn't win the mini flips of limit poker.

Next tournament is an exciting one, Thursday 5th July's 10k deuce-to-seven no limit.

Hey guys,

Really sorry and gutted to have to cancel, but I finally made the decision today (Tuesday) to fly back home in a few hours. In truth, it's on and off been a pretty miserable trip, and then a couple of days ago, a situation came up at home with my girlfriend, which normally would have been a close call whether to hang on or not, but in these circumstances, made me finally decide to go home. I did want to hang on to see out the staking, but was also aware that I may not be in the right frame of mind to play, so it seemed more fair to cancel.

The remaining events are the 2-7 lowball and the Main Event. I will be refunding the lowball as soon as I get home on Wednesday afternoon (please send me bank details, Stars did get locked in the end, and I'll snap refund). There is a chance I might decide to fly back on Sunday for the Main Event Day 1C on Monday, if things are better. I will make this decision by Saturday, and if I do, offer everyone the choice of either retaining the stake, or having a refund. If I refund, I will do so at 1.15, as it was always acknowledged in this thread that the Main Event was the best value of the package.

I've played my heart out when I have played, and have been even more determined in the circumstances, and am gutted to have come close with a 14th and a 10th.

So, the trip... The very first night, I came to the Rio from the airport, put my bags down, locked the door, fell straight to sleep, and woke up in the morning to find my wallet completley stripped of it's $5k. It was such a bizarre one, as I had never left the room or let anyone in, and so was a pretty uncomfortable feeling that someone had come into my room when I was sleeping. Unfortunately, it set the tone for the trip. When we moved into our flat, we had a couple of days sweating eviction from our landlord, and then on my only night out, I was robbed of the entire contents of my wallet again. And so it was this backdrop that made me decide to go home when the issue back home came up.

Especially sorry to the package 2ers, as I had to cancel the HORSE as well because of the single draw run. It was definitely the right decision from my point of view to go home, and I'm pretty sure it is in terms of the package as well.

Thanks for the staking guys, sorry not to deliver better. Will update on Main Event decision on Saturday

Sending all bank transfers now, keep requests coming.

Thanks again guys. Will keep updated on possible Main Event, think a 50/50 shot has picked up some outs on the turn.

Main Event refund:

Hi guys, I've been 50/50 the last two or three days on whether to return for the Main Event, and today decided not to, and to stay back home. The jet lag has still got me worse than before, so I felt I might not be able to make the assurance I hoped I would, that I would be returning in tip-top shape. Things feel a lot better now at home, so I've decided to stay and keep them that way.

I will be refunding at 1.15 as stated, because it was always acknowledged the Main Event represented the best value of the package. So, 1% of the package is worth $115 as the refund.

I am now sending to the bank accounts of anyone that has previously given me details, and will send a message with a sterling amount to your inbox to confirm they are sent.

Anyone with Main Event action who has not previously given me their bank details will recieve a PM asking them to send me either their bank details, or Moneybookers email adress. Stars unfortunately is not possible, so I will send by either of these two payments methods as soon as I hear from you.

Thanks again for the staking guys, sorry to not deliver better
