Tournament Fees

From 16th April 2012 all Dusk Till Dawn tournaments buy-ins are inclusive of registration fees which are a minimum of £5 or 10%

For example:

A £40 tournament will include a £5 registration fee (£5 minimum)

A £100 tournament will include a £10 registration fee (10% of the £100)

No mate. Step son was 19 on Monday but was at that down load thingy from last Wednesday to Monday so we are doing something for him Saturday and it's Fathers day Sunday too. Pretty pleased because I actually played the sats the first night (then the wife told me I could not play the final) and never won a point. God knows what I would have had to spend to get half a million chips. Seeing as I ain't playing I have a funny feeling you may be heads up with Frankie

The Chip Leader final is under way, we ended up with 220 players so 18 will get paid, €1000 min and €32,500 for the winner.

We also have a £100 +1 RE at 5pm today guaranteed at £7500, late reg till 8.15pm

The Super 50 Turbo got 96 players last night with a 15 min clock and £5000 guarantee, next week it will change to a 20 min clock and the guarantee will double to £10,000!! There will be no re entry.

We are also trying some different bankroll Freezeouts with no re entry and big guarantees for next 2 weeks ( except Tuesday when England play )

Hi Simon, I have already won two seats via SAT for the 150 DS which I was suppose to use on 22/23rd June. Now thats been cancelled, will I be able to use them for future 150 Deepstacks / will I be able to cash them?

Tonight 8pm another Friday night Super 50 Turbo, this week clock is increased to 20 mins and guarantee doubled to £10,000, re entry is 1 but only for first hour so with 10,000 chips it's really a freezeout, just got the option if you get unlucky during first 3 levels.

I think this event could build to be our most successful Friday night tournament ever.

Might be wrong, but that sounds like the perfect comp for deeteedee on a Friday evening. Would imagine that if that's the regular comp every week then numbers will start to increase on Fridays. Sounds good for the cash games too with the limited re-entry period.

Have to say I really enjoyed last nights £50 turbo. Hardly won a hand, felted by Wadey but the craic was excellent on our table. Have to say I turned up with 3 mates about 15 mins before the start and we got seated on the same table 22 seats 1,2,3 and 4 again. Luckily seat 1 knocked out 2 and 3 early on forcing em to re enter.  Nice to play a  cheap soft comp tho having people like Ben Vinson sat two to your left :(

Schedule for this weekend following Englands departure from Euro 2012 :(

Friday 8pm Super 50 Turbo £50 + £6 guaranteed at £10,000, 10,000 chips 20 min clock, late reg to 9pm with one MAJOR difference, we have removed re entry so no need to budget for that second bullet, we are relying on our guarantee to attract the players and i would like to see several players returning that have been put off by re entry.

Along side this event starting at 8pm there will also be a £15 + £5 Freezeout 10,000 chips 20 min clock guaranteed at £1500.

It appears to be the end of re entry at DTD for the smaller events.

It's a shame because it's a long way to go for me if there is no re entry. Looks like I'll be playing closer to home for the foreseeable.

I'm wondering if this tweak is anything to do with the recent polls on re-entry and payout structures.

The bottom line of the grid in the "payout" section of DTD's website makes a strong case for a tweak there too.

Hi Jason - we have not decided about 1st week in August yet! Leaving it a bit late but we are kind of thinking about the £500k in September and the satelittes for the 225 CPP rooms, what I can say is that we can't do too much big stuff, there is only a certain amount of money in the marketplace. What I would say is that I don't think the UK market is currently big enuf for DTD, UKIPT, GUKPT and GPS, it feels very, err, cramped!

Hi Gemini - noone is saying it is the end of re-entry at DTD, we are just trying some freezouts. Just because we tweak the format of our comps doesn't mean anything is actually set in stone, we like to/have to mix things up and often return to previous ideas and concepts, for example, we are planning a bigger Six Max monthly comp at the moment, as we havn't done one of our £250 six max comps for a good few months

I asked Tighty to put up the polls on re-entry and payouts, good feedback, thx :) From a purely PERSONAL point of view on these 2 subjects, I would actually vote for "no re-entry" and a "steeper payout structure", FWIW.

Been in London for a few days.  Apologies for recent changes with the football etc, I understand players want to know what's happening for next Augusts Deepstack, especially with the choice of playing the Genting £400 event in Stoke the same weekend as our August Deepstack week.

So, Rather than clash directly at the same buy in level as Genting and split the player pool at the £400 - £500 bankroll, , we have made the decision to match Gentings £100,000 GTE but at half their buy-in, so we will be doing a £200 Deepstack £100K GTE.

Full details off satelittes etc will be on our web site in next few days.

There will be NO RE-ENTRY for this £200 event so we will need 500 unique players to hit the GTE.

surely switching dates is better than competing directly with GPS? Doesn't make sense to me tbh, as a player I would want to play both for obvious reasons. The GPS is a very well run tournament series with a great structure. Just seems silly to me to compete with it when you can just switch the weekend and get a much bigger turn out imo.

They are valid points Mr Langley but the monthly deepstacks at Dtd have always been the first weekend of the month. Other cardrooms have known this and maybe should have considered it before clashing with Dtd's schedule.

Guys,  it's  not up to me to tell other tours what dates to choose, what I can say is that we do everything we can to avoid clashes and we have tried as hard to communicate with Genting as other tour organisers, however, the majority of their new tour clashes with our week 1 of each month and none of their tour dates clash with gukipt or UKIPT, that's the facts. However, we are not a 'tour' as such, just one week a month we have a monthly 500 deepstack, so by adjusting our buy in down by 60% i would say we are doing our best to go for a different bankroll that weekend. Saying we are silly, well, we cant close just when Genting have an event, we still have to deal a poker tournemment for our customers, they wont all be at the GPS and we have been doing an event for 5 years on the first week of every month. I obviously wasn't saying DTD are 'silly' you run the best club in the country. I think you should be adaptable to change though. The GPS seems to have become very popular very quickly and I think it will only become bigger and better. Its forcing players like myself to pick one or the other, and I'm sure theres hundreds of others like myself who would more than likely play both if they were on seperate weekends. Would it really be that much of a problem to change it to the 2nd week of the month? I think you would still get all the regulars and all the extra people that play the GPS on the first weekend instead. As you said, this isn't a 'tour' as such, and tour dates are scheduled months in advance so I would imagine it would be alot harder for them to change dates around. I also think 500 individual entries is a bit optimistic. I hope I'm wrong of course. Plus with the GPS being every 2-3 months and DTD having the big 500k gtd at the end of August I think alot of the people on the fence between which one to go to will pick the GPS.

nah I haven't mate, but I played both the B'ham and the London GPS's and thoroughly enjoyed them both. The 1 hour clock structure and 25k stack is so so good. Guarantee has been smashed at each leg, 146k in Birmingham, 232k in London, not sure about Edinburgh but the 2 winners chopped for £30k each so easily over 100k prizepool.

TL900, let me tell you how I actually work in practice with date setting.

I personally speak to Rank about their GUKPT dates before their season is announced, I also personally speak to PokerStars before their UKIPT dates. The  general rule is that DTD can only do decent buy in big GTE events (deepstacks and monte carlos) on week 1 of each month and that GUKIPT and UKIPT have the pick of the other 3 weeks of each month, this seems fair to me as they are actual 'tours' and we are just 1 venue. If GUKIPT or UKIPT could not avoid a week 1, we would of course move to accommodate, I would describe our relationship with both of these tours as excellent, we already hold a UKIPT at DTD and we have even suggested in the past that we would like to hold a GUKIPT in Nottingham, since Rank did not have a casino here unti they recently purchased the Gala casinos.

In 2012 Genting announced their new tour and ONLY clashed with DTD Deepstacks, avoiding all GUKPT and UKIPT dates, out of their 6 tour dates, 5 were on week 1. So, the situation we are in is that we cannot move our deepstacks all to week 2, because we will then clash with GUKPT or UKIPT, and the same goes for a week 3 or week 4 regular monthly event. I don't have a problem with Genting for clashing their dates with DTD,  as i said, we are not actually a tour, we are just a card room in 1 venue, and am I sure they don't expect us to stop running our events either. Genting have never had any dialogue with me so I can't comment on how they choose their dates.

I hope this information reassures any poker players that DTD does not clash its monthly Deepstacks with the GPS, there is simply not enough weeks in a year for everyones events not to clash. Yes, the GPS had done really well in its first year and I see it getting stronger with a huge company like Genting investing in a poker tour. I am hoping to play some of these GPS events myself as it would be good to see my old mates the Hendon Mob!

I agree with you, we may not get 500 players, probabaly not. However, we like to set our bar higher than we think we will probably achieve and offering big ROI is our brand and helps us in other ways in the long run.

DTD running their 'main event' on the first weekend every month means everyone knows well in advance what dates they can plan to play at DTD.

Makes complete sense not to move it around, and if Genting want to go head-to-head with DTD, then that's going to lower numbers to both events. DTD moving their regular event some months is only going to lower their numbers, and not just that month, but for the other months too as players lose confidence in the event being on the same weekend each month.

Thanks Rob, glad to hear that the re entries are not gone forever. The way I am running over the last three months I need all the re entries I can get. Flopping quads is no good, still bust out.

Even better is the news that you are amending the payout structures. I believe it will have a positive effect on numbers over the long term. I hope so because DTD is a great club at the forefront of UK poker so long may it continue.

fwiw, it may look like im bashing DTD but I'm really not. I love the place just as much as you guys, but I also love playing tournaments and want to play as many high value tournaments as possible. Thats why I asked the question. As I can only play one now for obvious reasons.

Last nights Super 50 proved very popular with the players whp prefer a freezeout, we had a 24% increase compared to the re entry version the week before, 198 of the 200 players required for the guarantee! This afternoon at 5pm we have an Incredible £100, 10,000 chips 30 minute clock guaranteed at £20,000, again freezeout, no re entry, late reg till 6.30pm + 20 min break. Only got 78 when £10,000 guarantee and re entry so i'm hoping for 180 - 200

Thought it was odd to see an overlay, and a 70 runner difference in the same comp one week to the next

I keep telling  em Tighty. Average Joe has been paid at the end of the month and can flick in £300/£500 for the deepstack on the first weekend of the month. Most of these guys have spent their wages after a week and are them back in the overdraft and just waiting 3 weeks to get paid again. This comp just shows how right I am because they can't even find £150.

Nothing to do with boxing as no one is paying a £10 to box nation for Haye and will be home on time for Kahn.

Weather does not makeuch difference either. If its the beginning of the month the degen in the average joe gets him to Dtd for his monthly deepstack fix come rain or shine

My guess is that numbers may be down due to no re entry, Travelling players may feel that it's not a big enough tourney for only one bullet.

I have been a fan of re entry but I have to be honest now and admit I think I am changing my view.  I played the 150 at DTD this weekend and it seemed to be different. Players knew that if they busted they were gone, no second chances.

Also it's nice to know that with every elimination you move closer to the final table and the bigger payouts.

Ps Tighty, I have noticed that When you list players left in a tournament some names are in bold. Are these the blondites. If so then my username is not linked to my name in the live events, I came 4th yesterday, brag, brag, but I noticed I was not in bold in your list of overnight survivors on day one.

Yes. I think the min runner threshold can be adjusted by DTD with notice to the network, but of course there are seat guarantees on these sats, so its a question of overall strategy I expect

Got a lappy sorted after 6 weeks on Monday and can't see many of the usual suspects playing £500/£200/grand prix. seen Vinodh eso junior last night but not many others. Did you just buy in or win a feeder sat. If you win a feeder sat and the game gets canceled does the software auto add you to the following sat the next night?

bought in direct, so don't know about feeder sats.

There a 30 euro sat tonight at 8pm, 3 seats GTD .....so lets try again.

If you win a feeder into the satellite and it cancels you receive the buy in to the satellite back into your account as soon as it cancels, then you can choose to play the following night or play the feeders again :)

If you click tournament info on the right it will give you 2 countdowns:-

Registration open for... (will show 4 mins less than tournament start time as this is the cut off for min runners)

Is it not possible to take the min runner threshold up to the start time or 1 minute before, cancelling 4 minutes before seems a bit self defeating. Other option may be to reduce guarantees to 1 or 2 on early satellites so that you don't need to have the 10 runner cap

Some of us played the £500 satty   ;)

I played it but I'm going to guess the main reason is it's just too expensive.

Obviously it has to be expensive because of the entry fee but folks just haven't got £100 to be spending too often.

These expensive sats are becoming more common as dtd have more expensive comps. I just don't think there's the money about to fund it all.

Also the big comps just aren't generating the hype any more.

There seems to be plenty of these events about so there's no need to throw all your efforts in to any one in particular.

Didn't bother loading laptop to even  look at 8.15 though as every sat I have tried to lately has been cancelled so I assumed no late reg or maybe just 10 minutes.

So not a level just a mistake, presumed no/limited late reg so just thought fuck it and watched the rugby. Apologies if I was wrong about late reg

Not been to DTD for ages, not even used that free super50 seat that I had.

DTD in a sense offer too much choice. If it was one flagship event every month or so then I could maybe try and fit my life around the poker. But with so many to choose from it can be the other way around.

It's also quite expensive too. £100 this week/end, £200 next weekend, and £500 at the end of the month.

The other problem I have is I'm never quite sure what events are upcoming. This is probably my own fault as there's plenty of advertising on blonde and via email. But i'm very much a person that if i'm receiving too much information I just sorta blank it all out. I read the thread about GPVII a week or so ago and my first surprise was the fact that the thread was there in the first place and i'd not noticed it, and that they're up to GPVII. I remember the first one being a big deal so I played that, and I played one of the others too, but I didn't realise they were up to number 7!

I get confused by the satellite stuff too. e.g. http://www.dusktilldawnpoker.com/satellites/500-deepstack - now, I don't really play satellites, and I think reading that i've digested how that works. But still, €100 isn't exactly cheap for an online satellite. It's a fifth of the buyin. Fire a couple of bullets at that and you'll be wishing you bought in direct. If there was some sort of big €50 satellite with lots of guaranteed seats that was well advertised then i'd probably make the effort to play such an event. But it's hard to make that stand out amongst all the other satellites already running and the other events going on.

As it is the £500 is the event that stood out to me, hence it is the one I shall be playing :)

I understand all the comments about changes/new stuff/too much choice, that's the main reason why I am doing my Trumps Travels, after 5 years we need feedback from all of the poker players in the UK. There is no business like DTD that runs poker events every night and every weekend and with the current economic climate hurting everyone pockets, plus extra competition, times have changed and its good to review and adapt, which we will have to do.

The changes in the online satellites in the past 2 months are too much!!!As someone who has played almost every SAT in the past year ( mini feeder, max feeder, feeder to feeder, you name it) Prices for every SAT has gone up considerably more and people like me who literally played every satellite in DTD ( atleast till these changes came into effect) cant afford to play 100 Euro SATs. When it was 50 Euros, atleast you can give 3/4 bullets every now and then..
Just my opinion!!!

 There are no re-entries in any of our online satelittes or feeders, this was changed at the request of players. late registration has been reduced to 60 minutes

The £200 satelittes havn't run well, players have chose to play the Grand Prix sats instead :( So we need to qualify more players so we will be doing 6 X 20 seater mega satelittes (yes - 20 seats!) from this Sunday all the way through to Friday - every night at 8.30pm, thats 120 seats up for grabs, we have decided to make these as cheap and accessible as possible so they with be priced at €10 Re-Buy, if the average person spends €25, we would need 240 players in each satelitte to make 20 seats! What more can we do for our online players than this? :) xxx

The £500 satelitte prices have been reduced to €50 as per requests from players, the £500 feeders and satelittes are in BLUE in the lobby, I have had a few players say they cant see them! (the €1000 package satelittes are still prices at €100 tho)

Hi, if you win more than 1 seat to the £200 deepstack do u get money instead, or can u just not play for more than once, ty

If you win more than one seat, you have the option to transfer the second seat to another event, another player or upgrade it to a higher buy in event. There is no option to cash in the seat, they must be used for live events at the club. Your first seat win must be used for the event (specific dates) for which you have won it.

You guys really need to come up with some kind of ticket system for these sats. There must be loads of players wanting to join in who simply can't play the target event.

How about "club credits" or similar? Just something that can only be used at the club?

It's really awkward when you can only win entry to one specific comp. If it was a more prestigious comp such as a Monte Carlo then fair enough but it's a standard deepstack.

If I knew I could use the seat to something else then I'd play but unfortunately I can't. I can only guess it's the same for quite a few others.

One good thing about doing it this way is it stops the specific value hunters targeting the comp. That's a good reason for not allowing cash payments.

If they had a system of 'live club credits' though at least the money stays within DTD.

You might even get people trying to win the smaller sats to save up for a CPP package or something. Who knows?

Club credits sounds great. You could bank them over time and put them towards any comp you like.

I am in the same situation Matt describes, would have supported the sat but can't play the event this week but would have added the 220 towards a deep stack or monte Carlo

Pretty sure I got an email reply saying satellite wins could be 'banked' for future use. Shouldn't be cashable, and I don't think they have been that for a while, but used for future events seems eminently reasonable.

i think too many value hunters were winning them and seling them on/taking the cash and the events that the satellites were then supposed to fill ended up with the double whammy of overlay on satellite seats PLUS overlay on the tournament. Can't blame DTD for wanting to prevent that from happening.

Nicola has asked me to post here on our non refundable, non transferable satelitte win policy;

We put on online satelittes to qualify players for a specific live event and it is integral part of trying to hit our GTE's.

We do not want to;

1. Incentivise players to win multiple seats for a specific event, if we put 100 seats online, we want 100 unqiue players in the event
2. Incentivise professional players to use our satelittes to make their wages
3. Incentivise players to play a satelitte when they cannot make the live event
4. Incentivise players  to sell seats to players that would directly buy-in anyway

Of course, sometimes a player may still choose to win 2 seats, even with this non refundable, not transferable policy, in that case, we will allow the player to use the seat value but within a month (in a 5 week month, a player who wins 2 deepstack seats can transfer to next deepstack 5 weeks later of course)

For players that want to win LIVE TOURNEY CREDITS (ie. bank up live credits to play any DTD comps now or in the future) we will be introducing DTD Voucher Online Satelittes, players will be able to use for ANY DTD event with no timeframe to redeem them.

I think this covers all bases and is very fair. We gave 14 seats away for our £200 last night, we definitely want all 20 players in the £200 event this weekend.

Of course, we do expect a significant decrease in our satelitte numbers as a result of this policy change but in the long term, its best for DTD and the target market that satelittes are aimed at.

Thin I I know, but this was the case for the £200 last weekend.

If you've got a CPP Package via Golden Chip, you can't win a second, so in effect you can't win a Golden chip in subsequent satellites.

Cheers, I agree with you, these £150 comps we do at £50,000 GTE are such great value, I just wish we could run them on all our spare weekends of which we have about 24 weeks per annum, but when we do try and run them back to back we normally get stung on the second one, once a month they seem to work okay though, so maybe that the max we can do. If they were well supported, we would run them more often despite the extra dealing costs of a 2 day 1's and opening Sunday PM for Day 2 of the event.

We now have 7 days of live satelittes at the Club starting at 9pm every night.

The format for these satellites will be £50 + £6 Limited 2 X Re-Buys, players will receive 5,000 chips at the start and also receive 2 re-buy tokens, 5,000 chips is 100 BB at first level of 25-50.

Levels will be 3 x 30 mins and then 20 mins, with late reg of 60 minutes after the first 2 levels of play.

Players can re-buy up to 2 x 5000 chips at any stage of the first 3 levels, regardless of their chip stack, cost is £50 per 5,000 chips.

This Saturday and Sunday - 10 seats GTE

Monday - Friday - 20 seats GTE

As a minimum, we need to start with 2 tables of 5, therefore we will need 10 runners before 9pm to start the satelitte.

Previously for the last chance £500 Mega Sats we did £100 + £12 Re-Entry, 10,000 chips, 10 or 20 seat GTE, we are trying this + 2 RB system to give as much flexibility to our players, especially those that only want to invest £50, or in £50 increments.

The multiple seats policy has not changed, its on the web site http://www.dusktilldawncasinonottingham.com/satellite-winners.php

So far, players that have won duplicate £500 seats have either opted to use these for a deposit for the Caribbean or carry forward to the next £500 Deepstack.

There have only been 6 duplicate winners in total out of 156 satelitte winners, so the message has got through. As players have pointed out, I'm sure this policy has caused us more overlays/value in these satellittes, (which is good for the players who have yet to win a seat), but we have already got around +33 extra players into this event, as duplicate winners for the £500 normally run at around 25% of the total seats won.

must admit i would have liked to have seen feeders in to weds starting today (i know there were none for sundays) ... had a big holiday and owe my daughter a shed load after her gcse results and already spent too much trying to get in to the 500...and it seems a fantastic format.

23 players returned for the final day of our £500,000 guaranteed £500 Deepstack.

By level 35, 200,000 400,000 we were heads up, Gary Jones and Sean Randall had both qualified for just €30 online and therefore for the first time we were going to be taking the winner to the CPP in November. Sean extended his chip lead to 3 - 1 and his JJ stood up v Gary's A8s.

Gary won £65,000 and Sean £110,000 and the CPP package worth £6000.

Just shows it can be done!!

From next week we will be moving back to a 5 day operation Weds to Sunday, our schedule will have a £25 NL Freezeout each night and a £50 or £100 event.

This week we host the Sky Poker Championship event on Sat / Sun £300 buy in £75,000 guarantee and you can buy in at the club.

The new reload format where you have the option to play as a freezeout or at any time during the reload period buy up to 2 x your starting stack has proved popular in satellites so will no be used for our nightly bigger buy in tournaments. To prevent players treating it like a rebuy with add ons there is always going to be a last level for reloads after late reg has closed.

Yes Ralph, it's £10,000 GTE. We have never tried this format before so your guess is as good as mine, no juice on the £100 optional reload, 10,000 starting stack + option 10,000 reload, 30 min clock. We expect 25% of players to use their reload, so we would need 80 players to hit the GTE, I think this is maybe possible on a Friday or Saturday night, I think we should have a meatier comp on Fridays, we tried the Super 50 Turbo but that didn't attract any new players, our locals just stepped up to £50, so lets see how this goes.

All our evening senior comps are £5K GTE minimum, if we cant run a comp with a £5K prize pool as an absolute minimum, we shouldn't be open IMO Cheers Aces

I think the priority is certainly the Caribbean Poker Party, and you can expect more live sat weekends for that

I would imagine £150 type deepstacks will fit in around those CPP events and more of the £100 one day events such as those coming up in the next fortnight

No, you only pay £10 + £4, full stop. It's set up as 5k + 5k as beginners will make mistakes and need another shot, if a player doesnt take their second life in first 60 mins, 5k is added to their stack

Rob, loving the suggestion in your blog that six maxes might be making a comeback. Amazing fun to play live, although I recognise they must be a bit a bottom ache to put on (1.5 times as many dealers, floorspace, etc).

Another example of what makes DTD special, he adds, ever so slightly sycophantically.

Is there any prospect of regular £40-£50 freezeouts making a return to the schedule?  At the moment, other than the odd Super 50, it seems that it's either <£25 or >£100.  The only regular tourney that possibly fills the gap is the £50 reload, but I assume the majority of people tend to invest £100-£150 in that.

Hi, the weekly schedule can be tweaked after we have ran these tournies for the rest of the month,  hopefully not to by much, but £50 is always a pretty popular buy-in at DTD so I will bear that mind. Here is the full September schedule http://www.dusktilldawncasinonottingham.com/schedules/sep-2012.pdf.  Its always difficult to please everyone's bankroll and juggle with the events that the club holds. The £50 reload starts with 100BB, so it's very playable with just 1 bullet, the £25 is strict freezout and usually makes a £2k+ prizepool, so you may want to try that in the interim.

In terms of online satelittes, the min runners is 10, a small number relative to the prizepool, this is almost always hit for our regular stuff like Deepstacks and CPP Online qualifers, this new one into the live event seems to have missed the 10, looks like the message hasnt got thru about the live satelitte this Sunday. Apologies, there is a £50 live feeder running on saturday night with the winner getting £624, 3 bullets for Sundays CPP Club sat.
