Shout outs please for anyone and we'll get chip counts and pictures.

Jon will be playing Simon Trumper HU at some point today which I'm guessing will be after he busts the Chip Leader. Then again, if Simon goes deep, could be fun to watch him plat two tables at once.

Loads of local players left in today, as well as a few semi pros which always makes for a good mix when one player assumes play based on their own style and range...  Will try and catch a few of those finer moments.

18 million chips in play and 67 players still in... it's gonna be a long, long day.

Willis Marrow opens to 12k UTG
"You always raise on my big blind don't you" says Rob Ward
David Newman calls
Ward looks down at  Qc 9s, calls

Flop -  7c Qs 2h
check/check, Marrow bets 17k.
Newman calls, Ward with his Q9 makes it 125k
Marrow folds quickly, Newman tanks.
All in for about 170k with  Aspades Qd, Ward snaps

Turn -  9c

Newman out, Ward as good as doubles

The Coccon table is still going strong.

No one passed over in their sleep, so you can look forward to another day of folding, with the occasional loud snore. And that's just the dealer.

Post by: mouth on June 17, 2012, 03:17:36 PM
Simon Hyde went out last hand before the break.

He raised UTG to 1800 with AK, folded round to Mr Lee who made it 70K to go, Simon happily gets his remaining 160K in and Mr Lee makes the call, to turn over AQ.

Standard queen on flop and Mr Lee tans Simon's hide.

Look at this cheeky chappie's smiling face, exuberant with the joy of knowing he's playing his A game, surrounded by friends and fans, on target for yet another cash to add to an impressive Hendon Mob listing.

Oh yes, and there's Mitch as well.

Booder just dodged a bullet.

One raiser and he jams with AQ.

Raiser dwells and then folds AK face up, saying "I think you had a good hand then"

Booder mucked and thought "So did I until you showed me your were ahead"

Hero folds FTW today.

Booder now on £120K and possibly borrowed time.

Craig Lear raises to 19K early position only for another guy to get it all in.

Craig, so far quite a vociferous presence at the table, asks quietly for a count (160K) and then goes very quiet while he counts his

Eventually he folds, taps the table and says nice bet.

Mr Lee says "Of course it's a nice bet because he knows you raise every hand and can't call"

Craig seems a little put out and says he had a good hand. The guy who raised, Stuart Bell, says "I had AQ" and Craig replies "Well I made a good fold then as my ace was behind"

Darren Scanlon pipes up, how many aces are in this pack because I folded one, cue Lynne Beaumont and Paul David both putting their hands up and naming the suit of the ace they passed.

Craig gives it up.

New chipleader!
Sadly I missed it (sigh) but Tan Luan Le eliminated Craig Lear and Stuart Bell
This puts him on, from what I can make out 900k

Tan says he was suprised Lear called with just top pair
Lear less than impressed, and is unlikely to make friends with Mr Le anytime soon

He just called a shove with 66, he read it for a steal and he was rewarded for his good read by managing to fade every draw for is opponent's [9s] [7s] and take his stack up to 190K.

Ironically, he's still not back to his starting stack...

Mr Lee has been playing for just over a year and is featuring heavily in all DTD's big comps. He's obviously found a field of players that suit his game, he isn't scared of getting his chips in and is usually the aggressor rather than the caller. His etiquette has improved - as it couldn't have been much worse - since people explained it's pretty bad form to fistpump after sucking out on others! He cashes in most comps he plays and is a decent guy.

His opponent, Craig Lear, has two micro Hendon Mob entries with an inverse proportion ego.

Pete Wesson loses his stack to Mark James, with AJ on an ace high flop, when Mark has AK.

Low turn and river and his Jack kicker is no good.

Mark says 2I hate knocking out nice guys"

On table 21 an early positon raiser makes it 16K to be three bet to 38K by Mike Webber.

Jeremy Moore has a long think and asks Mike if he has anything good.

Mike smiles and nods. Which he probably would even if he had 2 3 off.

Eventually Moore gets his short stack in and the original raiser folds. Mike makes the call for 197K more and flips over Jacks, which stay ahead versus Moore's AK on a nine high board.

Alan Armitage is on 320K. He 3 bet with KJ and was check called all the way down on a KQ xxx board by a guy holding AQ.

Al usually plays online, and freely admits he would have 380K but has been caught out a couple of times. Definitely one to watch today.

Mike Webber still smiling on Alan's table, this could change when Alan finds a hand or a spot.

Booder!!

He's on 346K now after finding aces which held against his oppos KQ on a Queen hig board, followed swiftly by AK on the button which he shoved with after a three bet, for his oppo to show AQ and fold.

Would be nice if poker always ran like this, but wouldn't provide great updates.

Remind me not to big up any players as it's like an instant bok.

Alan Armitage is now out. Steve Holden sucked him dry and is now on nearly 800K.

Two brothers Seth and Michael Webber now sat on the same table.

Mike Webber won the Grand prix here, but his brother is yet to make a big mark.

Similar scenario for Mitch Johnson. One day Mitch, one day.

Pity for Seider sat next to Frankie if he does have a hangover.

Frankie on a roll now, just taken out another player when his AQ hit a flush vs pocket tens.

Another 30 minutes at this level, blinds 5K/10K, ante 1K.

46 players left from the 73 who came back today.

Frankie as i type has just hit something else - I'm hazarding a guess.

He's walking round the card room with his hands in the air like an aged Chinese gymnast about to perform, shouting "Get in! Get in! That's a hero!! My turn now! My turn!!"

He had pocket sixes and got it all in on the turn against AQ on a Q 4 Q 6 board. Nine on the river and his full house puts him on over the magic One Mirrion chips.

Twenty minutes left at level 19, short break after this and then coming back to 6/12K blinds for the next level.

Lynne beaumont the last lady standing, she also has a golden Chip.

Folds round to Harnak Singh on the button who makes it 27K, Lynne insta shoves all in from the SB and eventually he folds.

The two younger kids next to her are guessing out loud whether she had nines or tens there.

Lynne just smiles.

Knowing Lynne and her game - a game that often suprises many of the younger players who pigeon hole her - I think they may have had to rethink thier opinion of her range.

Paul Brown also on her table is still going strong with 815K, Mr Lee also there with 1.4M. Chip Leader, but Frankie is chomping at his heels.

"How much you got left?" says Bruce.

"102K" is the reply.

Bruce ums and ahs and says " I have suited connectors here you know"

Mike Lowe laughs and replies "What duece three?"

Bruce laughs and folds but assures him he will call blind next time. Big talk from a slightly smaller stack!

Some people have asked why 18 players when the website originally said 36.

Apparently it's because DTD in their payout structure pay either 18 places, or 27 being the next jump. We were 4 players shy of qualifying to pay out 27, so 18 it is.

Winner takes home £32,500.

Actually he hit his flush on the turn, so I at least got to sweat a paired board on the river.

Really enjoyed playing this comp.  Not sure if the next one will end up quite so deep when it kicks off but it was a fun dynamic to see how people dealt with the varying stack sizes.

Good luck to Martin Mills (if he's still in, as not caught up since getting home), who was sat to my right for most of the time.  He's been reading the updates so hopefully he'll sign up and say hello.

Well yesterday he literally didnt play a hand for about 5 levels, then when he did he would limp in and check call. That's not a criticism of his play by the way, merely an observation. I think he didngt want  to dent his stack too much and just cruise through to today.

He took a couple of hits but is still patiently waitiing for premium hands.

To get so many chips online I'm having to assume he must have been running like God in the weeks previous online qualifiers, or there is the possibility admin messed up and sent the qualifiying email to Paul in error?!

He just isn't getting involved now. I spoke to him earlier when Tan Lee was chip leader and Paul said it was irrelevant at this stage who had all the chips, as long as he had them all in the last hand...

Is that tournament entries or net investment?

Found a few guys who started pretty short yesterday.

Willis Marrow (still working up the bottle to have some fun with this name) started on 33K, now on 300K.

Mike Lowe came in with 43K and is on average with 600K.

Ryan Pearson started with 35K and is on about 500K.

Definitely rooting for these three, they've not been involved in many monster pots or been gifted chips, simply grinding their way forward.

Mills bets 75k, Burghardt folds
Tan Luan Le to 200k, Mills to 500k, Le shoves for a 664k total, Mills has to call off

Mills -  7d 3d
Le -  Kd Kc

"Pair up!" Shouts Le

6h, Qc does the trick for Mr Le
Mills still in but short, Le on 1.4mil

To be fair... no one said he wasn't pleasant!

He's a lovely guy to talk to, really friendly and having fun, I totally agree.

I just wonder though, why you would spend so much - whether money is an issue or not -  to not then use that monster stack to it's best advantage from day one in a tournament unlike any other, where you have started with a massive advantage to every other player in that game?

He's now blinding down and is on 450K which is getting towards HALF the average stack (698K). 26 players left in and 18 cash. Thoughts?

On a flop of

As 8d 4c

Ross Patman bets 60K.

Patrick Simcoe goes all in for 507K.

Ryan Pearson thinks for a while and then says all in, got the previous all in covered 2:1 in chips.

Patman doesn't even stop to think and folds.

Ryan has A4 for two pairs, Simcoe is behind with A9 for top pair only.

The turn is a queen.. and so is the river, killing Ryan's flopped two pair and giving Simcoe the upper hand in every way.

Ryan is Rhino on Blonde, unlucky mate.

Anyway. I think it comes down to why you play the game. For me the game will always be like a good night out at a restaurant. Some nights I might spend a few quid at Domino's. Some nights I spend a few hundred quid somewhere nice.

As for Paul Brown. His money, his life, his chips, his choice. I hope he wins it because it will irritate all those who think the only reason to play is to maximise a return. Maybe he just wanted to arrive as chipleader and has a suitable bankroll.

The return on the meals the following day was exactly the same.

How do you know what Paul has spent?????

It was posted somewhere on yesterday's thread as far as I recall. Plujs I wouldnt think it too hard to work out if you know how many games he played and how much the entry was.

I was on his table yesterday from the beginning and he was very nice guy. At first I was abit wery if him as he worked the room and I thought oh the guy thinks he's awesome but ten quickly realised he had been playing so many sngs he must have chatted alot to alot of the people ad he was just interested who was who and he said he was really enjoying playing live again. He made alot of good laydowns against me when in theory he should be doubling me up as I only started with 20k however he played his 680k like he had 20k tough to get chips off.

I guess now the blinds are catching up with him and he needs to adjust but very best of luck to him, very nice guy and hope he gets 2nd behind the CHIPPYMAN!!!! Goooo Franky!

Oh and for the record, he thinks he spent about £1460 on the comp but he played a few MTTs with his initial depost and won abit so he says in reality he's only in for just over £200.

He's still leading the way, playing a strong, aggressive game from what I've seen.

I looked him up on Hendon mOb and he has zero live results, he confirms that is correct. Do you know if he's an online player?

80k from Sobecki
An All In from Seth Webber for 337k
Mark James tanks, eventually announcing all in, Sobecki folds

Webber -  Qh Qs
James -  9c 9d

9s is the 2nd card out, Webber walking out before the river is even dealt which brings no help

Ross Patman tells me he only really plays a little online at DTD and has only played here, plus a couple of UKIPTs. He says he's a recreational player who has previously ran bad.

That may well be true but I have a feeling he's been studying the game because he seems pretty confident and is comfortable making a few moves.

Well I wont be irritated if he wins, I want him to, I believe that persistence and hard work should pay off, so good luck to him.

Because of the format everyone arrived at the live event with a different size chipstack.

This guy arrived with an absolute monster-stack more than double the size of his nearest contender I believe.

It's only natural that some people would wonder how much he invested both in time and money to amass such a stack compared to their own. It doesn't reflect badly on anyone the way I see it.

As far as I can see, we only have five players left in without a Golden Chip.

They are Marrow, Krys Sobecki, Mark James, Patrick Simcoe and Paul Barradel, none of whom have a Chip on display at the moment.

The other 16 players are all still in with a chance of being the last man standing holding a Golden Chip, which will bag them a £6K Caribbean Poker Package, on top of any cash they win today.

Cockroft says he was massive, and then shows pocket nines. Frankie looks happy.

Frankie and Lee Cockroft in a hand blind on blind.

Frankie bets 80K on the turn and Lee picks up his cards again fro another look.

Frankie says: Relax, don't do it.

Actually that's not true.

Frankie says: "I can see your cards you know when you pick them up to look."

Lee: "Can you?"

"Yes" he says "Every hand I can see your cards, that's why every time you go all in I fold, because I've seen your cards. You know when you went all in with nines? I had eights. That's why I didn't call, I saw your hand"

Lee is less than impressed and folds, saying "well why havent you told me before? You should tell me when you can see my cards!"

Lee is actually quite irate but Frankie doesn't let up, then moves on to talking about how many big folds he has made today, asking if he saw him fold AK etc.

The rest of the table are quietly smiling, knowing Frankie is joking, but Lee is looking very unsettled.

Eventually Frankie grants him the royal dispensation and says he will tell him if he can see his cards again.

400k in the middle on  Jh Th 9h
Stokes check calls 200k from Greek Jack
 7d river
Stokes checks, Jack puts him all in for 320k
Stokes tanks and tanks before calling with  9d 9c
Jack has  5d 5s drawing dead

Great big stack poker from Jack here though in my opinion
trying to abuse the bubble, raising almost all hands and Stokes very nearly folded his set

Oli Allen opens for 100K on the button.

Paul Barradell ships for 375K total.

Oli eventually makes the call with Kc Js

Paul has As Jc

Flop runs out

6s 8s 10h

Ks

then the 5s giving Paul the nut flush.

However, Paul and Oli had both noted the King rather than the suits and Paul got up to shake Oli's hand, who in turn commiserated with him, until the dealer pointed out Oli had actually lost the pot.

Paul turned to me and said "don't need to mention this hand!"

Paul now on about 840K, still under average but a lot healthier.

Oli Allen opens for 100K and gets a call from Ross Patman on the button.

Flop 8s 7h 4h

Oli checks and Ross bets 175K. Oli thinks and eventually calls.

Turn 8d

Oli checks and Ross bets 250K, Oli thinks for a lot longer and calls again.

River is the 3c

Oli checks again and Ross then bets 380K.

Ross dwells for ages and ages, is it Hollywood time? Nope, it's folding time and he very reluctantly folds.

Ross immediately asks him if he wants to see, to which Oli nods and says please.

Ross shows 4c 5s and takes down a pot of over 1.5Million.

good luck today Caroline

Sheriff Fatman 12-2 on table Mitch/Greek Jack please

Charlie K 13-3 please. One of Swindon's best. Not saying much.

Thanks Rich - mind you the others are terrible. Just a quick congrats to DTD on a groundbreaking and creative new event. Very much hope they do this again and I think it would stand a bigger guarantee in future. Loads of play, even for the short stacks from the off, well run as always, great structure and good luck to all those left.

Big hand alert, and I'm not referring to my own.

Martin Seidell gets it all in.

Mark James then asks for a count from the small blind. Dealer counts and announces 330K, Mark looks over at big blind Mike Lowe and asks how much he has, Mike pushes his chips forward to show he has about 700K.

Mark James thinks for a bit longer and says "Call", and starts to count out 330K.

Before he's managed to put his chips in, Mike Lowe says "All In" and James snap calls!

Mark James flips over Aces!

Mike Lowe groans and turns over two red tens.

Martin Seidell is way down the line with Ks 3s.

Flop

6d 4s 6s ...

SWEAT!!

Frankie up to his old tricks, entertaining the masses
to UTG Allan "you gonna raise my big blind? come on 160, I know you are raising"
Allan makes it 160
"you raise me all day, come on"
Peaks down, "all in" for 700k
"come on, I folded to you with AK earlier. return the favour"
Eventually Allan folds
"OK I'll show you a card to keep you happy, wish I could show the 3" and flips over  8d
"Oops didn't mean to show you that one!"

Mark James penalised a round for exposing cards early? Anyone see this and have more info. Round sitout seems like a long time for an honest mistake, but i can't see any other punishment, maybe 3 hands?

Title: Re: DTD Chipleader Live Final: Day 2
Post by: mouth on June 18, 2012, 12:04:41 AM
Mr Lee makes it 200K on the button.

Patrick Simcoe flats leaving himself about 500 behind.

Flop of 2s As Qs and Mr Lee bets 200K again, Simcoe throws his cards into the muck in disgust.

Next hand Greek jack makes it 190K from the SB, Marrow flats in the BB.

Flop 9c 2s Jh

Jack has a blue 100K chip in his hand before the dealer deals the flop and throws it in after a quick look at the cards out.

Marrow says raises and puts in 350K in total.

Jack stares at him for some time, then picks up chips as if to count the amount out. Marrow leans in across the table and looks at Greek Jack, who decides sometimes it's good to admit defeat, and folds.

Harnak Singh on their table is nursing the smallest stack at the moment.

Pretty standard, in the hand with Frankie, after Mark decided to make the call he exposed his hand with a player still to act after him. Obviously that can affect the remaining player's decision and affect the dynamics of the game so he was penalised.

Sounds like standard decision, presuming length is standard too?

BOOM!

We have a new chip leader!

Oli Allen make sit 160K on the button, called by Mark James in the BB.

Flop is 3c 3h - Mark insta checks - Qc

Oli bets 200K.

Mark picks up a large handful of blue 100K chips and splashes them in the pot.

Dealer counts out 1.3M.

Oli then announces "I'm all in" to which Mark snap calls.

Oli has pocket rockets and Mark has pocket change in the form of Ad 3d - he's flopped trip threes.

No money card for Oli and Mark James is now the massive chip leader on 5.1M!

A few choice songs coming from his rail - there's only three of them but they're all built like retired Sumos so it's pretty loud.

Nine players now play on until 8 left and then the action all moves to the live stream table once we are eight handed.

Looking unlikely we will be doing any commentary, mainly because most people will be in bed by 6am.

Look away now if you don't like sad stories.

Greek Jack makes it 400K to go from the hi jack.

Folds round to Matt Miners who shoves for 700K.

Greek Jack reluctantly calls.

Matt Miners is even more reluctant to show his hand, I think he thought Jack could fold there for less than a min raise.

Eventually He turns over Qc 10c and Jack groans and flips over Qs 8c

Flop

3c Kc 2h

It's looking good for Matt, he's ahead and has a flush draw to boot.

Turn is the As - no change for Matt, still ahead with his ten kicker playing

River.....

8s

Collective groan from the railers

Matt Miners goes out in 9th place today taking home £2000

We're moving the remaining eight players over to the live stream table now.

Paul B makes it 375K UTG

Mark J calls

Pat Simcoe looks at his cards in the BB and thanks the dealer for keeping him out of trouble, then folds.

Flop 8c 6h 6s

Check check

Turn 9h

Paul bets the same 375K, Mark calls

River 7s and paul checks, looking over at Mark

Mark looks back at him and says all in.

Paul very reluctantly folds leaving himself with just 500K.

Next hand he's on the BB and calls Chris Goodson's shove with A5. Goodson has AK which holds.

Paul Barradel goes home in 7th place with £3,500.

Goodson all in on the button.

Simcoe folds, Tan Le turns over the Ad.

Simcoe says "You're folding?"

"I didn't say i fold" says Tan who then shuffles his two cards and flips over the Ad again saying "Anothher one! I fold aces!!"

Friendly warning from the floor that if he does it again he's in trouble.

Greek Jack make sit 400K on the button, everyone folds and he shows an Ace.

Tan Lee all in on his button, both blinds fold and he shows pocket nines.

When are dusk going to do the next Chipleader?

No date set as yet but keep your eyes peeled on Blonde for news, it will be coming back, bigger and better!

Willis Marrow's son is here railing him.

However since the barman told him shots were only £1.05 he is in danger of providing a horizontal rail.

Mark James' rail has gone quiet. Two of the larger guys had a very noisy flatulence contest, then a noisy argument about who's round it was, followed by a chorus of "T*ts oot sausage roll, come on and give us a go"

Like overgrown children, I think they've over tired themselves.

Wow.

This is maybe a bit of a controversial one.. but I will stay impartial.  In this scenario more than ever, trust me.

This is how it started..

Mark James raised to 450K.

Greek Jack made it 1M to see a flop.

Mark called.

The flop was 6h 2c 2d

Jack announces all in.

Mark's lone railer waves his other railers over from the bar.

Title: Re: DTD Chipleader Live Final: Day 2
Post by: rfgqqabc on June 18, 2012, 02:58:05 AM
Mark just told Jack what he had and why he thought it, still tanking though?

Title: Re: DTD Chipleader Live Final: Day 2
Post by: mouth on June 18, 2012, 03:00:08 AM
Okay here's the controversy.

Greek Jack lifts his cards to check them again.

Three of Mark James' railers are standing around Jack who is seated at the furthest end of the table next to the barrier.

One of his railers lifts his hand and makes a motion near his own head, behind the TD's back, who catches it out of the corner of his eye and turns round to the railer, and warns him not to signal to the other players. A brief discussion goes on.

Mark James then says 2 I had you on AK all day long Jack mate, how much is it again?"

The dealer confirms it is 4 million, which, if James makes the call, will leave him with less than 1M in chips and possibkly cost him £20K if he's wrong.

Title: Re: DTD Chipleader Live Final: Day 2
Post by: mouth on June 18, 2012, 03:01:02 AM
Mark calls

No help for Jack who indeed has AK, and Mark James' pocket Jacks hold.

Greek Jack is out in 7th place for £3500

He tanked for ages, over 4 minutes I think. We're trying to keep with the live stream delay so no spoilers please sir ;)

Greek Jack is absolutely fuming, as he feels the signaller saw his cards and signalled to his mate what Jack had.

Live stream and cameras being checked at the moment.

Nitroll from Mark, :) Only messing mate, great call. Presuming the controversy is a misunderstanding, and nothing serious or a lot more would be occurring right now. Will remember spoilers :)

Could be brutal if something is found, especially as Mark looked well on the way to calling before anything occured. I know the rail personally here, at least most of them, and doubt they would do anything like this

At the end of the day it's up to him to make sure no-one can see them, however doesn't excuse cheating if indeed it turns out there was some kind of signal.

As I said, it's certainly controversial.

I'm not going to name the person who was accused of signaling as it wouldn't be appropriate. Looks like it's being dealt with at the momengt and the rail have been removed.

I'm sure DTD will on this if neccessary, but all I can do is tell you what happened rather than what I think happened.

To confirm, I was standing next to the railer and to the TD, behind Greek Jack and Mark James made the comment after the apparent signal, while the TD was warning his railer.

Double up for Simcoe who shoves two hands in a row, showing 5 high the first time.

Next time he gets a call from Mark James who has Ah Ks.

Simcoe stands up, his Js 8s not looking in great shape.

Flop is boom boom boom three spades!

Simcoe starts to shout "No more!" as one more spade kills his flush and James will win.

But the hand holds and Simcoe doubles to 2M +

We've lost the lovely Mr Lee who shoved his short stack in and missed every out.

He's now out in 5th place for £6,000.

This means we have a winner of the last man standing Golden Chip promotion!

Chris Goodson, who hasnt played a hand since last Tuesday wins the 6K Golden Chip promotion!

The isuue with the signaling hasn't finished.

Rob and Simon now involved. One of the railers tried to return to the same spot and was moved away again, and now one of the doormen has moved in from outside. It's causing a bit of a sour atmosphere but as the railers are pretty tanked up they don't seem to want to accept they can no longer rail.

Willis Marrow raises to 1.1M, Marks James already in for 240K in the BB calls.

Both players check down the board of 8h 10c Jc 8d 7d

dealer asks for showdown and both players look at each other. Willis eventually turns AK and James folds.

Half way though level 33 Blinds 120K/240K ante 30K.

Ironically the current ante is equal to Willis Marrow's staring stack yesterday.

Patrick Simcoe jams all in with QJ off, called by Chris Goodson in the BB with pocket 4s.

Flop 5 A 4.. turn is a 10.. Simcoe calls a King... but the poker Gods have gone to bed now and the river is a 6.

Patrick Simcoe out in 4th place for £11,400.

Queen on the flop and Chris is on his way home.

Chris Goodson goes out in 3rd place for £11,400, plus a £6K Golden Chip Caribbean package!

One of the drunken railers have been sick outside the front door.

The doorman went to have a word with him, they sorted it and the railer went to shake his hand.

The doorman recoiled in horror and said "mate you've just been sick outside, no offence but I'm not sure where you're hands have been!"

One hand into the HU and it's a monster.

Willis limps in and James checks to see a flop of J 6 7

Willis bets 1M, whic James raises to 2M. Wills calls.

Turn is the 4h

Wills bets 2M and Mark says allin.

Wills thinks for some time, Mark talks as if he's trying to induce a bet, saying WEillis has enough fold equity to get away from it etc, it works and Willis makes the call.

Mark james has two pairs J 7 while Willis is drawing dead with 7 9.
