Title: Fett Main Event shares - sold out
Post by: Boba Fett on June 18, 2012, 11:39:17 AM
Hey

Im Paul McTaggart and I am looking to sell 20% of my WSOP Main Event action at markup of 1.5, I may open some more up later but for now 20% is for sale.

I have been playing tournaments professionally for 3 years now, mostly online and mostly on the Euro sites.  Here is a link to my pocket 5's page which has a list of all my relevant screen names online

http://www.pocketfives.com/profiles/bobafett/

Although it shows totals won on each site and lists cashes, the site didnt track Ongame for the 1st 2 years I played, it doesnt track the 888.com skin I play on and it seems to miss a bunch of my Microgaming results so if you want to further investigate I would recommend running each name through OPR/Sharkscope for a better reflection of profit/ROI.

A link to my Hendon Mob is on the P5s page however here it is also

http://pokerdb.thehendonmob.com/player.php?a=r&n=100114

Recent additions include a deep run in UKIPT Nottingham finishing in 42nd and winning the Edinburgh Leg of the Genting Poker Series after chopping HU.  Also, since arriving in Vegas I have played 2 events and cashed in 23rd in my 1st one, the Venetian Deepstack $1k which has not been added to my HM page yet.

For anyone that doesnt know the Main Event (lol), its a $10k buy in event at the Rio with 3 starting days July 7th-9th (why 3 and not 4 now anyone?).  I will almost certainly be playing Day 1C on Monday 9th as I have tickets to go to the UFC event on Saturday 7th and dont want to have to worry about playing the Main the next day while Im there.  It is a 10 day event, will have a few thousand players and last year the winner got around $8m

I would prefer cash in Vegas however I will take Bank Transfers also.  Bank Transfers in ££ paid at xe.com rate at the time I look it up + 0.5%.  Please let me know which payment option you prefer and I can PM bank details if needed.  Minimum sale 1% and any payout will be based only on the tournament payout.  Any payouts in £ will be paid at the rate I receive when changing the money back if we cash.

1%-$150
2.5%-$375
5%-$750
10%-$1500
20%-$3000

I will also be trying to sell on Facebook and twitter but I will update the thread when % go on there.  All % sold on 1st come 1st served basis.  If I sell out I will do a reserve list as I probably will open up more action later depending on how things are going in the other events I play between now and then.

I think thats everything, any questions let me know.
Thanks
Paul

Have you played the main event at the WSOP before?

Have you ever played an event lasting more than 3 days before?

1.5 seems a very high markup, how can you justify it?

Everyone else is doing it so why not?

With all these 1.5 mark ups going on you have to wonder where all the 0.5 people are? Perhaps they can all afford to pay for themselves.

Marc Wright who by common consent is about the hottest online tournament on the planet and has had deep runs in an EPT and an Irish Open charged 1.4

Stu Rutter is one the best young players in the UK charged 1.1 (although it was part of a package)

Paul has 7 live cashes on his Hendon Mob and wants 1.5?

Just seems very high.

Paul's doing very well though - he's already sold 10%.

Caveat emptor and all that.

I understand this.

If the markup was, say, 1.2 I might be interested in buying.

He did say "any questions"?

Well, I asked some :)

In fairness to op he is just selling at same rate as everyone else on the forum who i assume he considers to be similar/lesser ability than himself is doing.

I mean theres plenty of things wrong with these auctions that are goin on, but no one seems to wanna rock the boat and point it out- so in his defence again at least it's straightforward and clear what the price is

It's the main event, roughly 10x the size of the Irish open and with a better structure. Fett has a pretty good online record and a decent sized FT finish in the recent past. Doesn't seem excessive to me.

Dubai: what's wrong with the auctions?

I just don't bid in auctions. Seems I'm always the bad guy, let someone else state the obvious from now on cos I usually really like the people selling so don't want it to seem personal. Like the Dan Morgan one, we had dinner and chatted about it first night he was in Vegas so he knew it wasnt personal. He then rolled for 20mins on his craps debut which helped :)

Hi Camel

This will be my 1st Main Event.  I have never played more than 3 days in 1 tournament before however I have played a few day 3s in live tournaments including recently winning GPS Edinburgh, I played Day 1a on the Thursday lasting 10 hours plus breaks, Friday off (although I played the side event that night for 2-3 hours), another 10 hours plus breaks on Saturday and then around 11 hours total on Sunday for the final 11 players including around 2.5 hours of HU play.

My stakers recently researched how many days I played online for them in the last year and told me I played 290 of the 365 days and obviously this does not include days I played live and didnt play online.  The majority of my online sessions I reg from 5pm-midnight UK time and finish up anytime around 2-4am so I play around 9-11 hours per day so I am used to playing long daily sessions over consecutive days both online and live.

Finally, I am staying in a house off-strip with my stakers and other friends who will all be playing the main event themselves and some of them will have some of my action, I think its a great environment for talking about hands/spots/strategy between days and being able to relax in the time off as opposed to staying in a hotel on the strip for example.

As for the markup, I looked at the other proposals around here, on 2p2 and elsewhere and also spoke to some friends asking what they were selling at and what they thought I should/could sell at.  The majority of people seem to be selling around 1.4-1.7 and a lot of the players are players I play against every day in my daily schedule that are regs in the same games as me and that I have similar online record to.  So I felt I could justify selling at around the same price as them.  As with every market, some people might overcharge and others will undercharge.  Marc Wright for example I think is undercharging and I wish I saw his thread before it sold out.  I feel like 1.5 is in line with the current overall market for main event pieces.

Hi Paul,

Please bear in mind this is no way personal.

For a player to sell at 1.5, he should have a expected ROI of approaching 2.0 for it to a an attractive proposition for buyers.

There are undoubtedly plenty of soft spots in the main event, but there is also virtually every winning player in the worild + even the bad players are psyched up to play their absolute best - which usually means tight. While this is obviously exploitable, it isn't until you go deeper in the event when antes and blinds start to mount up.

That's why I asked about how many multi day tournaments you had played.

There are players who I would certainly pay 1.5 for the main event: Flushy, Keys, Rupert, JP Kelly etc.

But all have proven records in multi day big tournaments with hundreds of thousands of pounds on offer.

I think 1.5 is the sort of level a premier poker player should be charging and although you might well prove to be that in the future, the record you have presented is not strong enough to justify this markup.

If you were to drop your markup to 1.1 I would buy 5%.

Finished on 132,400  never been so tilted in my life.  Got up to 240k early in the day AA v AK then chipped up to 280k then on the 2nd last level of the night I open QTdd, SB 3bets to 5k, I peel.  QT7cc flop he leads 4k, I make it 16k, he makes it 41k, I jam and he snaps his 119k stack with AA.  Turn 8 river 7.  Wouldve been on 440k on a table I was running over going to the last level if I hold there, instead I had to sit tilting my face off for the last 2 hours trying not to spew.  Gonna get a good nights sleep and go back with the attitude that 80bbs on day 3 of the main event is plenty.  Game face back on for tomorrow, if I play as good tomorrow as I did for most of the day today everything will be fine.

It can be so difficult to not think about the 7 river card and 440k but you cant, its gone, these are the ups and downs of tournament poker.

Not withstanding that hand you still have a decent stack so you just need to think its a new tournament with 911 runners and 666 get paid

one double up will do the trick.... so very much this      " Its always better to look forward to a Positive Future.....Than dwell on a negative past "

one double up will do the trick.... so very much this      " Its always better to look forward to a Positive Future.....Than dwell on a negative past "

Karma

"....its a new tournament with 911 runners and 666 get paid....."

Fraser,

With respect, that is very misleading.

There are way more than 911 runner remaining - 911 was the number of survivors from Day 2C. There were also over 800 survivors from Day 2a.

In total, there are, I believe, 1,752 remaining.

Boba - good luck today. If I can find you, I'll come get some photos. "RangersHater" asked me via Twiitter yesterday, but your Table had broken, & I could not find you.

No Need for  "With respect"  " Tony as My post was just plain wrong...I was told 911 runners left total so my genuine mistake and happy to be corrected.

No doubt Boba will know the true score & thanks for pointing it out

Honestly don't think you could have played any better from reading your updates... Sick exit hand too, think you played great when you had chips and even better when u went down to average stack or below.

Great performance after the GPS win, it must be so hard to keep your composure and focus for that length of time in what is the biggest tourney of your life, massive congratulations for that and although u will be gutted, you should be very proud in the way you played and conducted yourself throughout the tournament.

Only a matter of time before you ship big again :)

Well Played X

Hey guys, quick report.

Got off to a great start to the day, chipping up from 230k to 400k without showing down.  I had a great seat and the money bubble burst quickly so we cashed without any sweats.  Unfortunately the table then broke and I moved onto Railtards table where I lost a medium sized pot and a bunch of small pots before that table broke too.

Went to my 3rd table and had an absolute nightmare, was card dead for a few hours, I couldnt get into any pots and had no good spots to do anything but fold.  Shortly after dinner I lost about 30% of my stack with TT v KJ and then a few orbits later I got my last 16bbs in pre with QQ v 66 button v BB.  Board ran out 65239 :(

Pretty happy with my performance overall.

After tip we cashed for $32,500

Ill contact everyone individually but the blondes I owe money to are...

Alex martin - $650
Pleno - $325
James Keys - $650
Fun4Fraser - $3250

Thanks to the people who invested and I hope you're happy with the return :)
Paul
