I would feel quite let down if Tikay grimmed us and didn't play this. I'm sure we would all feel quite let down. Anyway onto other matters. I was thinking that when he makes it deep Sky Poker are going to try and muscle in on our action with attractive inducements to wear patches and such like. I would like to object in advance to this. Tikay must retain the integrity of the stake at all times by only wearing a plain Blonde shirt, and perhaps a scarf. However if Sky make a big enough offer I'm happy to talk business.

Think it would be good to play this year considering Tikay is there right now. Could be dead next year. What is this hosting Sky players gig anyway? You stand around on the rail bored shitless for hours on end and when Sky horse busts you shake their hand and say gl for the future? Sure they could get some lacky like Orford to do that. Its always a tricky spot to price these things up. (This bit is true) I do have a bet with a mate of mine on what age he dies, he has over 77 1/2 and I have the under. He is 37 at the mo, fit as a fiddle and very active, I just thought he was over rating his chances of getting to 77 1/2.  tho technically it is a double that I am still around to collect if he does peg it.

Yikes, what to say.

Been a bit busy out here, I eventually sort of collapsed into bed @ 8pm last night after 3 x 21 hour days, being 21 hours of total fun, even though its work/play combined. This morning, up at 4am, ZING, bright as a button.

I read this thread all the time, it's F5 city. I don't know what to say really, I am so embarrassed & humbled, but I'll address it all today, I hope.

It sort of helps if I share something with you.

I wrote to Tom last night. I noticed he had barely Posted for 4 days - 3 Posts in 4 days I think, & his Diary had slipped off Page 1. He replied to me in his usual style, & everything is fine & dandy with him, which was all that really mattered to me.

I won't divulge his reply in it's entirety, but it included something like this.....

"To be honest, the Staking thing has not helped, I'm incredibly touched & flattered, but I don't know how to respond"......

And so, once again, Tom finds a way to say what I think.

It is really hard to explain how Tom & I feel about these things. We are old, we have pride, we are stubborn, & we inhabit a Forum full of people who are very different to us. Not better, not worse, different.

Anyways, I'll get into the technical bits shortly, bear with me please.

It goes without saying, I think, that if Tom & I did it together, it would not be twice as much fun, it would be 100 times as much fun.

Umm, addressing a couple of matters that have been mentioned several times.

What "rate" would it be done at? Seems to me it could ony be "par". Any premium would be outrageous.

How much is "available" to sell? Personally, it would not bother me if I had none of myself, the thrill of playing it would be more than enough. Maybe hold a few % back, I have no strong feeling on that really. It's not about money, not at all. Hard to explain......

Next door? I'll need to explain to you why I have a certain stance towards them, I'll try & do that later. In short though, if I asked, they would let me do pretty much anything I want.

Spooky timing.

I find this thread......awkward, embarrassing....& lovely, all at once.

I've been trying to find the words to reply for some time now. I had rather hoped that Tom might rescue me - he's better with words, & so I rung him up to ask him a few weeks back.

After the usual formal niceties, he said "So, stop waffling, what do you want?"......

So we discussed this thread - yet again - & Tom said he would deffo NOT be going to Vegas this year, so could not assist me with a well-worded response which best explains how we both feel about it.

Meanwhile, I was waiting for next door to let me know what, if anything, they needed of me in Vegas this year. The reply was a LONG time coming, but right out of the blue, a week or two ago, they asked me if I would go to Vegas for the WSOP Main to do a bit of work, just filming mainly. I asked if they would object, if, by chance, I happened to find myself able to play the WSOP Main, & they seemed to think.....it would be a good idea, & they'd probably make a little documentary thing.

So I'm going to Vegas, yes, & I would be available to play the Main if I wished.

Now it gets even more awkward......more shortly, bear with me please.

Today has arrived, a little late. I've found this all a bit awkward, to be honest.

Well.......yes, I'm incredibly grateful for the interest shown.

After some serious ditherage, I've reached the point where I need to make the decision. I watched some WSOP 2012 footage on TV the other day, & I'm bound to say, my appetite was whetted.

I WILL be in Vegas during the Main Event, working, as usual, but next door have said they are cool with me playing it if I wish, & am able. In fact much of my "work" there this year during the Main will consist of filming it, such as we are allowed, so if I were to play it, it would be OK. You may even see me donking off your money, & there'll deffo be daily interviews.

So yes, if the offers remain on the table, I'd love to accept.

Think the admin might get complicated, & many of those who originally pledged a % may now be under it, unable or unwilling to still donate, or fell out with me over Mod matters, or simply because I get more obdurate, feisty & crotchety in my imminent dotage.

So, perhaps the best way forward is to first summarise those who originally pledged to buy a stake, which I will do shortly.

If you no longer wish to be involved, no offence taken whatsoever.

If you do.......Heaven help you....please just indicate your continued interest, & what % you wish, & I'll then send you my Bank Deets.

I must just say a word or two about the OP, Greeky. Down the years, he has caused blonde a headache or two, to put it mildly, but one thing he has never been is a troll, for which I would not forgive him. He's just an awkward sod. For the purposes of transparency, & should this go ahead, it would be prudent to clarify some "rules" I think, to save possible disagreements later.

1) I am shite at NLHE these days, the kids have disappeared into the distance, they really have, so you should not expect a return. You won't get any excuses either. I'll either get very lucky, & bink a few sets, or not.

2) There'll be a daily blog, with photos & stuff.

3) The rate is "par", there is no premium. Obv.

4) Payments would be via Bank Account, I will forward the deets to those who are interested. I head off to Vegas on June 14th, for three weeks "play" before I start work, so payments would need to be before I head to Vegas, please.

5) Currency Exchange rate. Send cash at whatever rate prevails (spot) on the day you send it. I will send returns at "spot" on the day I transmit returns, if any. Payment from me will be within 7 days of my return to the UK. I return home on July 14th.

6) How much is available? See the comments earlier in the thread. I would not play unless I sell at least 75% though. If it fails to reach 75%, all stakes would be returned. Maximum available, for the record? Around 90%, I guess.

7) First come, first served.

8) Referee! I think it might be wise to appoint someone who would arbitrate in the event of any dispute as to rules, payments, etc. I have not asked anyone to do this, pending interest levels shown, but I would suggest, if they are agreeable, that the most likely candidates would be any or all of MereNovice, Simon Galloway & of course the OP, Greeky. They are to varying degrees friends of mine, of course, but their integrity & understanding of such matters is second to none & beyond reproach.

Good morning. Apologies for my lack of responses yesterday, I was in Pain City, elsewhere.

I'll catch up on everything now.

Just to clarify, I said a few days ago that the original pledges, from last year, ARE NOT BINDING.

In effect, we started a NEW list, & only those who Posted subsequently are included. It is not right, or fair, to expect people to hold good for pledges they made a year or more ago, & I wanted to avoid anyone feeling embarrassed if they were no longer able, or willing, to stake.

I'm sorry if I failed to make that clear enough.

Mere Spreadsheet, helpful as ever, has created a special spreadsheet for me, & he updates it after every new pledge. I really don't know how I'd cope without Mere, even though he is a proper miserable & pedantic old bugger.

On that spreadsheet, he lists, for info only, the ORIGINAL list of stakers, which is sort of irrelevant now.

He also lists all the new pledges, which, as of this moment, amount to 45.5%. One friend, who pledged 5% last year, is currently on holiday, in sunny Skeggy, so he may still wish to have his 5%, if so, we are up to just over 50% now.

Payment.

Hope this does not sound a little forward, but I'll be asking for the cash to be paid before I head off to Vegas, which will be on June 14th.

I will send bank Details to all those who have expressed an interest.

If it helps.........at least one regular has said that he is willing to help by facilitating payment via Pokerstars, & I know two others who would do the same.
