End of Level 4, we dribbled a few chips away, and hit the break with 3,100, we now have to take our 2nd and 3rd bullets, so that gives us 6,100 with blinds at 100-200.

If the plasmas are correct, 978 entered, and 720 remain, so I guess we are close to average.

It plays faster than I expected, so we won't hang around too long before we start getting frisky.

Bad news, my table, which was about right for me, nice and passive, has broken.

Am now on Table 27, kid to my left just arrived with three trays of chips, and kiddo to his left has over 50,000.

My 6,500 looks positively puny now.

Luckily, 50,000 chip bloke is potting every hand pre, so at some stage we can go for a spin. Not yet though.

Plasma says 585 remain, from 978 starters.

The two big stacks are bullying big time, anyone that opens a pot gets re-potted with a range wider than Arthur Daley.

We have 20 bigs, and unless we find something, once we get to  14 or 15 bigs, we'll give one of those two boys a spin. No choice really, and I'm pretty sure we will go in ahead judging by what they have shown down so far.

As to Keith's comment......in the treble up hand, the board came paired fours. Odd guy pushed forward his three deuces and claimed the pot - " I have a full house". He even attempted to pull the pot in! He left the table countering away shocking, then Frenchie threw a strop at some guy who was giving it large.

I had to let the blinds go through, and had 2100 chips at 200/400 and  Aspades  Js 9c 5d on the button and 1 limper.  I pot it for 1800 and the limper repots his  Ad Ac 2d x.  Ho hum.

5 all ins, only once behind, and lose to 4 scoops and chop one when I get it all in on the turn, with the nut low, nut flush draw and the overpair vs 1 lower pair and the 2nd nut low.  He hits his second pair for the chop. 

It was a great tourney, so many soft spots, lots of limping and lots of table banter and no 5 minute dwell folds.  Such a refreshing change from the hold em tourneys.  I must play this again, unfortunately it won't be until next year.

The thread hero must have a great chance.

 I didn't really fancy poker yesterday but I would confirm that this is an amazing event. I barely play the game but I definitely felt I was in the top 30% skillwise when I played it in the past. Anyone with half a clue in Hi-Lo should have this on their schedule.

 Good luck also to Steve Jelenek, Flushy, Paul Jackson, Jerome and any other Brits I missed.

 Just seen the table draw. I didn't recognise most of the names. Seat 4 is Warren Coleman - he is really old school. Used to be a Vic regular and was a 7-card stud player there years ago. I only ever really see him in Vegas now, he is a good limit player. Say hi from me.

Dempsey Gets Some Bubble Love
 


While on the bubble, we saw a massive hand build between James Dempsey and Balazs Biri that resulted in the latter being all in preflop for around 50,000.


Clearly both men weren't afraid to mix it up on the money bubble, but it'd be Dempsey's gamble that would pay off as the board ran out and he took down 3/4 of the pot.

Just now came a hand in which Dempsey limped from the cutoff, then Kendall raised the pot from the big blind for 19,000. The action back on Dempsey, he hemmed and hawed a little before calling the raise, and Kendall pushed the rest of his chips — about 34,000 — in the middle before the dealer spread the flop.

Those first three community cards came {9-Hearts}{10-Clubs}{J-Diamonds}, prompting some laughter from Dempsey. "Now how'd you get that flop?" he said, then after tanking for a minute decided to let his hand go.

"Are you taking notes?" asked Kendall of your reporter. He then turned over two of his cards — {6-Spades}{2-Clubs} — for all to see before pulling in the chips.

"If you want the rest of the hand I can tell you," he said. "But not in front of the table."

"But we can read the update!" someone pointed out, and Kendall laughed, deciding it prudent then to keep the other two cards to himself.

 Got to play the $3000 version now. I think the standard will be slightly higher, there may be 300 less players in it, but a lot of the value in this event comes from "name" players that never play this game.

 You'll have a decent edge.

Congrats on your finish.  I randomly bumped into this thread while looking for more PLO8 tournaments. Would have said congratulations earlier if I could answer your damn security questions (wtf is a Pillar mailbox???)

Funny, you and I sat next to each other at the Wynn tournament and were (pleasantly) giving each other a hard time before the first cards hit the table.  Something about how mean Americans were as I recall... :)

Then we both finish in top 12 of the WSOP tourney the next day! Sweet, sir.
