Day 1 of Event #1: €2,700 Six-Handed No-Limit Hold'em at the 2012 World Series of Poker Europe has come to a conclusion. After a nice, late start to the day, eight levels of action are in the books. When registration closed after the dinner break, 227 players had registered. The action was fast and furious all day long, and less than a quarter of the competitors finished out the day. On top of them all was Matan Krakow with a whopping 140,225 in chips.

Krakow is no stranger to this event. Last year, he made the final table and placed fourth for €65,068. He'll certainly be looking to top that finish and has put himself in a solid position to do so with his early chip lead.

Of those advancing to Day 2, Brandon Cantu, David "ODB" Baker and Jennifer Tilly all bagged up plenty of chips. Cantu stormed into the top portion of the leaderboard toward the end of the night, but Baker and Tilly got off to a blistering start. Phil Hellmuth, McLean Karr, Roberto Romanello and John Tabatabai are also still in contention.

Octo-niner Greg Merson maneuvered his way out of the day as well. He finished with 10,150 and will be looking for a cash to earn some extra WSOP Player of the Year points in order to extend his lead against Ivey. Merson currently sits with 581.13 points and Ivey is in second with 568.70. Baker (508.38) and Hellmuth (500.70) are sitting fourth and fifth respectively on the WSOP POY leaderboard and will be looking to inch closer to Merson. Needless to say, this race is really beginning to heat up.

Day 2 will commence Saturday at 1400 CET (0800 ET). The plan is to play down to a final table, but there will also be the excitement of the money bubble bursting. The top 24 spots are set to be paid with nearly €150,000 going to the winner.

Event 2, 16 left

The 2012 World Series of Poker Europe continued on Monday with Day 2 of Event #2: €1,100 No-Limit Hold'em as the remaining 98 players of a 626-player field returned to battle down to the final 15. Leading the way is Antonin Teisseire, who bagged up 269,500, but the winner of the biggest buy-in poker tournament in history, Antonio Esfandiari, is just 5,500 behind.

The big story at the start of the day was who would make the top 63 and earn a piece of the €600,960 prize pool. Among the 35 players who came up short were Greg Merson, Ozzy Sheikh, Konstantin Puchkov, David Benyamine and John Tabatabai; however, the man who went the furthest with nothing to show was Jean Marie Morvan.

While many fell, some survived and others even thrived. Among those returning for Day 3 are Day 1a chip leader Ashly Butler, Joe Kuether, Salvatore Bonavena, W.J. Vincent, McLean Karr and Casey Kastle.

Here’s a look at tomorrow’s lineup with chip counts:

A total of 97 players signed up for the big Pot-Limit Omaha event of this year's World Series of Poker Europe. After eight levels of play just 25 remain with Austrian Erich Kollmann in the lead. Kollmann amassed 127,500 chips and holds a big lead over Bruno Fitoussi who's in second place with 108,600.

The day started just like you would expect a Pot-Limit Omaha tournament to start. The action was fast paced and quickly we saw the likes of David Baker, Greg Merson and Brandon Adams hit the rail. Meanwhile Michael Mizrachi was building a castle of chips in the early levels.

It took the two-time $50,000 Players Championship winner just three levels to have six starting stacks in front of him. Mizrachi kept winning pots left and right, and his only challenger ended up being Ran Azor. In the following levels Mizrachi and Azor kept battling with big swings as a result. Both players ended up surviving the day, but their stacks weren't nearly as impressive as during the dinner break. Mizrachi bagged up 47,100 while Azor returns with 40,500.

The most successful Omaha player of this year's WSOP also managed to survive the day. German pro Jan-Peter Jachtmann did not have it easy, but he will return tomorrow with 42,200. Other notable pros that will try to make a run tomorrow are Jason Mercier (25,800), Vanessa Selbst (42,400), Sam Chartier (59,100) and Roger Hairabedian (59,800)

Congratulations to Antonio Esfandiari, Winner of Event #2: €1,100 No-Limit Hold'em (€126,207)

On Tuesday, the second bracelet winner of the 2012 World Series of Poker Europe was crowned as Antonio Esfandiari defeated a field of 626 players to capture the Event #2: €1,100 No-Limit Hold'em title, the accompanying €126,207 first-place prize and his third gold bracelet.

The day began with 15 runners, but five hit the rail relatively quickly. Casey Kastle was the first to go in 15th place, and he was followed out the door by Amaury Detoc (14th-€7,680), W.J. Vincent (13th-€7,680) and Joe Kuether (12th-€9,423). After the eliminations of Igor Kalinicenko (11th-€9,423) and Anthony Pons (10th-€9,423), the final table was set.

Esfandiari entered the final table with the chip lead and was primed to capture his third bracelet, but he was joined by some stiff competition including five Frenchman looking to become the first ever to win a bracelet at the WSOP Europe.

It was an exciting heads-up match as Esfandiari, who by this point had taken over the WSOP Player of the Year lead, was searching for his third bracelet, while Bollengier hoped to become the first French player to ever win a WSOP Europe bracelet. Esfandiari held a slight lead when the match began, and he never relinquished it on his way to victory.

Event #3: €5,300 Pot-Limit Omaha
Day 2 completed
Hairabendian Leads Final 9, Mizrachi Gunning For Second Bracelet of 2012

The second day of play started with only 25 players, but it was far from easy for the nine finalists to reach that last table. French pro Roger Hairabedian emerged as the chip leader followed by the dangerous Fin Ville Mattila. Michael Mizrachi however is the story of this final table as he will be trying to win his second bracelet of 2012, and also second bracelet at the WSOPE in back-to-back years. Joe Hachem, the 2005 Main Event champion, also reached the final table. He will be trying to win his second bracelet.

Erich Kollmann started the day as chip leader, but just about everything went wrong for the Austrian. After bluffing off some chips he got himself involved in a huge pot against Mattila. In a limped pot Kollmann fired out 4,000 on a {A-Clubs}{K-Hearts}{8-Diamonds} flop, and Mattila was his only caller. On the turn, the {3-Diamonds}, Kollmann check raised the 9,000-chip bet to 25,000 and Mattila called. the river was the {Q-Spades} and Kollmann moved all in for 45,000. Mattila called with a set of kings and that beat Kollmann's set of eights.

French bracelet winner Aubin Cazals took down the $5,000 Mixed Max at the World Series of Poker this summer, but he would not add a second bracelet in his home country. Vanessa Selbst knocked Cazals out who narrowly missed out on the money. Shortly after this hand it was $10,000 Pot-Limit Omaha winner Jan-Peter Jachtmann who made his exit. He fell to Jani Sointula.

Ran Azor was one of the main characters on Day 1, but Day 2 was far from kind to him. The jovial Israeli busted to Selbst who seemed have everything under control. After this though she could not get a lot going, and busted right in the money, 12th for €9,696.

Jussi Ryynanen and Michael Mizrachi had many clashes, and both players held the chip lead for quite some time. We expect to see big things from these two players at the final table. Sam Chartier was the eventual bubble boy when his kings could not beat Jason Mercier's aces. Mercier was patient throughout the day and one big double up gave him high hopes for another WSOP bracelet. His final level was far from good and he will be one of the shorter stacks going into the final table.

Bruno Fitoussi made the 2012 $50,000 Players Championship final table, where he was the first to be knocked out. Today he bubbled the final table finishing in 10th place. Fitoussi ran into Mizrachi's aces and he failed to improve.

Event #4: €3,250 No-Limit Hold'em Shootout
Day 1 completed
Stacked Field Advances To Day 2

Day 1 of Event #4: €3,250 No-Limit Hold'em Shootout has come to a close, and a long day it was. From the original starting field of 141 players, an extremely stacked field of 20 remain. Due to the shootout format of this event, all of the advancing players will take approximately the same amount of chips into Day 2. The one player that stands out, though, is Phil Hellmuth. The 12-time WSOP gold bracelet winner bagged up 71,775 due to his table having an extra player to start the day.

Numbers were down a lot for this event, but the WSOP staff was quick on its feet with making an alteration to the structure. Instead of a three-day event, this event will now end tomorrow on Day 2. The 20 players that have advanced will play a regular, multi-table tournament format down to a winner. As it stands right now, everyone left is in the money, earning at least €5,428.

Some of the names moving on to join Hellmuth are Matt Stout, Chance Kornuth, Dan O'Brien, Daniel Negreanu, John Monnette, Faraz Jaka, Mohsin Charania, Oleksii Kovalchuk and Dominik Nitsche. That's quite an amazing field that's left, which should set things up for one outstanding final table.

Tilly Takes on Star-Studded Field to Soar to the Top

Some times at PokerNews we have to prepare a recap of the day’s play bearing in mind one of a few players could finish on top of the pile. It’s almost like a live reporter’s range. Today we had no such problems as one player smashed, bashed, value-bet and sucked out on all comers to amass a huge stack after eight levels of play. That person was Jennifer Tilly who bagged up 218,000 chips. Asked about how her day went she just said, “I got lucky!” Ashton Griffin quickly piped in and said that she played great as well as getting lucky.

She is far clear of a chasing pack that includes Faraz Jaka (126,000), Brain Park (114,200), Marvin Rettenmaier (109,000), Michael Mizrachi (89,700), Bertrand “Elky” Grospellier (82,500) and Mori Eskandani (89,400). A total of 52 players remain. With all the success Mizrachi has had in the last year, lest us not forget he is the defending champ.

Play will resume at 2pm (CET) tomorrow where the tournament format moves on to the next stage. It’s all about action-packed 6-max, and play will continue until we have 16 players remaining. From there the tournament moves into a heads-up format. If we reach the required number early enough then the round of 16 matches will also play out tomorrow, and will negate the need for a fourth day of play.

Event #7: €10,450 No-Limit Hold'em Main Event

Mizrachi Emerges as Day 1a Chip Leader; Ivey, O'Dwyer & Alvarado Punch Ticket to Day 2

The 2012 World Series of Poker Europe Event #7 €10,450 No-Limit Hold’em Main Event kicked off on Saturday as 215 players took to the felt in the first of two starting flights. After six 90-minute levels of play, the field had been reduced to 115 with Michael “The Grinder” Mizrachi and his stack of 234,850 leading the way.

It didn’t take long for things to heat up at the Majestic Barrière in Cannes, France; in fact, in Level 1 there was a hand that had the whole tournament floor talking. "It's nuts, nuts and a flush draw," Jean-Robert Bellande said from a nearby table. "Two guys have the nuts and one has top pair and a flush draw... with one to come."

The board read {8-Hearts}{4-Hearts}{3-Clubs}{7-Clubs} and three hands were face up on the felt. Henry Tran held the {A-Clubs}{8-Clubs} for top pair with a flush draw; Erik Cajelais held the {6-Diamonds}{5-Diamonds} for a turned nut straight; and Brandon Barnes held the {6-Spades}{5-Hearts} for the same turned straight. "Club!" yelled Tran before the put out the{5-Clubs}. Cajelais was not happy at all, and he got up from his chair and quickly stormed out of the room while Barnes left more quietly. Tran had them both covered and has catapulted to over 90,000, which carried him to the end of the night where he bagged up 118,750.

Not everyone was as fortunate as Mizrachi. Among those to hit the rail on Day 1a were Yevgeniy Timoshenko, Nam Le, Tobias Reinkemeier, Fabrice Soulier, Victor Ramdin, Jennifer Tilly, Will Failla, Chris Moorman, Jeff Lisandro, Frank Kassela and Vanessa Selbst.

With that said, quite a few notables managed to punch their ticket to Day 2 including JC Alvarado (180,675), Sergil Baranov (152,000), Martial Blangenwitsch (129,800), Dan Shak (100,875), Philipp Gruissem (90,500), Steve O’Dwyer (89,000), Prosper Masquelier (70,450), Matt Stout (61,650) and Phil Ivey (55,000), just to name a few.

Hope Rob has their phone number. Having it a Dtd next year he would guarantee 1000 runners and a $10 million prize pool. That would fit in nicely with his bucket list of £million first prize :)

It was a rare day of the 2012 World Series of Poker Europe on Sunday as only one feature event was running. The Main Event held its Day 1b, and 205 players joined the field to bring the total number of entrants up to 420. Just 115 players survived the day with none other than Bertrand "ElkY" Grospellier finishing on top. These players will meet with the 115 that survived Day 1a, and all 230 will see poker action on Day 2.

Compared to last year's 593 entrants, the field of 420 looks a lot smaller on paper. The fact of the matter is that, it is, but numbers are still up from the time of the WSOP Europe Main Event being held in London. With registration now closed for the Main Event, the numbers were tallied. The competitors will all be vying for their share of the €4.032 million prize pool, and the top 48 finishers will earn at least €20,150. Up top is a massive seven-figure payday worth over €1.022 million, and there's quite the star-studded group chasing after the title.

Play will resume Monday at 1200 CET

Yesterday's field of 230 players saw the combination of runners from Day 1a and Day 1b combine to battle for WSOP glory. At the end of the night only 77 players remained in the hunt for the WSOPE Main Event title. With the top 48 making money, it is almost certain that the field will cash today. The man currently closest to achieving that goal is Sergii Baranov who is sitting on a massive stack of 607,000.

The combination of the two starting fields saw the elimination of many notable names. Among those who were eliminated from Day 2 play were Joe Hachem, Isaac Haxton, Mohsin Charania, Scotty Nguyen, Phil Ivey, Chance Kornuth, Antonio Esfandiari, October Niners Greg Merson, Russell Thomas, and Jacob Balsiger, and start-of-the-day chip leader Michael Mizrachi.

While those saw their WSOPE Main Event come to an end, many of the game's biggest names are still in the hunt. Phil Hellmuth worked up a stack of 364,900 which is good for the fourth biggest stack in the room. Joseph Cheong (328,400) and Bertrand "ElkY" Grospellier (326,700) were also able to breach the top ten in chips. Also returning for Day 3 are Daniel Negreanu (290,000), Dan Smith (274,500), October Niner Jesse Sylvia (209,000), last year's champion Elio Fox (201,300), Liv Boeree (140,800), Eugene Katchalov (123,900), Steve Dannenmann (65,000), Jean-Robert Bellande (50,300), and many more.

Edit: I don't know much about gambling but 9/1 fav in an 11 horse race is very generous :)

Cheong is a fair price for sure, probably a bit of an insult to be 9/1 in relation to the rest- 100% is the only bet here-

Obv u putting "Brits" in short cos expect money but Livs price should see you shut down as a bookmaker for life :)

Alex - you should probably make the point there are more than these 11 runners left.

24 left in, no? Jason - in that context the prices make more sense.

Ed is correct.

I don't think for a moment that Alex intended to mislead anyone, but he has only priced up 11 runners, and there are 24 remaining, which makes the book a tinsy-winsy bit on the fat side & may well make Alex exceedingly rich. Which of course we would all think was quite splendid.

The full overnight chip counts for all 24 are here.....

Alex - completely understand. If I had a pound for every time I have felt something perfectly clear (as it has been in my head at the time) and subsequently not expressed it 100% I would be a wealthy man.

On novelty betting such as this bookies will generally take the Michael when it comes to their 'margin'. Whilst a football match odds market may bet to 104%, something like "Who killed Ken Barlow?" or "What colour hat with the Queen be wearing at Royal Ascot" will bet to more like 120%.

One might look at this (as a punter) and say "I'm being ripped off" in the latter, where, in reality the prices (and therefore the overround/margin) are much less certain in the latter examples. The extra fat on the market comes about (a) to protect the bookies from this to an extent and (b) because they can and people are generally less price sensitive in such markets (owing in part to less competition).

When pricing up something like this (24 runners), if confident in my ability to price the market I would still look to bet to around 130%. That gives you 1.25%/runner (in the halcyon days before Betfair ruined it for everyone horse racing SPs were approaching 2%/runner) which feels about right.

The problem you have is that those on here are a lot more savvy than the average bear. They will moan at the overround and tell you your prices aren't competitive enough. That, as a customer, is their prerogative, but given the volatility you are taking on (relative to potential profit), I would stand by my recommendation in order that you, as bookmaker, are getting an appropriate balance of risk:reward.

If you fancy sticking your balls out of the bathwater on this one, lay me £250 Cheong @ 12s?? ;)

VBOL, and apologies if earlier message was brief (I was on the mobile).

1   Sebastien Guinand   431,000
2   David Benyamine   217,000
3   Christopher Brammer   956,000
4   Sergii Baranov   1,055,000
5   Toby Lewis   456,000
6   Jason Mercier   824,000
7   Steve Dannenmann   390,000
8   Nicolas Cardyn

Cheong oop to Tedeschi makes him less attractive imo, while Seiver and SIlver looking better on table Hellmuth/Frankenburger :D

19 remain, & Chris is chippie with 1,595,000

This is from Pokernews.com, who are running a Live Update.

Sebastien Guinand opened for 22,000 from the hijack and was met with a three-bet to 50,000 from Christopher Brammer on the button. The blinds both got out of the way, and Guinand came back with a four-bet to 100,000. Brammer thought for a few moments and slid out enough chips to cover his opponent, and Guinand called off for right around 305,000 total.

Guinand had Queens, Chris had Kings.

The PokerNews Live Update is here......

Christopher Brammer moved all in from the cutoff for 487,000 and Timothy Adams called off for a little less in the big blind.
Showdown
Adams: AJ
Brammer: 33
"I folded ace-jack," Sergii Baranov said from the small blind. It wasn't good news for Adams, who was at risk and needed to improve. The Q62  flop wasn't particularly exciting, and neither was the 7 turn. Adams needed either an ace or jack, of which there were only two left of each, in order to survive, but it was not meant to be as the 8  blanked.
With that, the 2012 WSOP Europe Main Event final table is set.

Wow sick work Chris, what a grind that must have been but a great finish to win that flip and have a great chance for the win. Very best of luck.

The book is looking a fair bit worse for me than it did at the start of the day, end up doing quite a bit if Cheong, Bramm, Mercier or Hellmuth win (who are probs all top 5 favourites sigh) and win nicely if any of the other four ship it.

Here's who still has live bets:

Hellmuth - George (£20), GeordieNeil (£10), LionRampant (£20) @15/1
Cheong - TL (£15), LeKnave (£40), Trigg (£65)  @9/1
Mercier - Stato (£35), TL (£15), George (£50)  @10/1
Bramm - Stato (£35), TL (£10), GeordieNeil (£20), Dreenie (£20) @10/1

Good luck all ;)

The timeline will be very odd though. They start early afternoon, play down to 4 players, then stop. They then resume at around 9pm I believe, to satisfy ESPN I gather.

Understand the sentiment behind that Rich, but that seems a bit unreasonable to me.

"Stream" viewers can avoid the thread if they wish to, whereas non-stream viewers - most of us - want to sweat Chris on thread, commenting on the Live Updates as things proceed. What should we do - wait until a stream viewer comments before saying anything? And how do we know a comment comes from a stream-viewer?

I'll happily go along with your request, but I think you are asking a lot of the vast majority - the non-stream viewers - to stay schtum just so as not to spoil it for the stream-viewers.

Yes, but for balance, there IS a traditional Live Update available, free to all, which is perfectly adequate.

That's sort of missing the point. Why is the WSOP not actively trying to get the most people possible watching? This is hardly UFC. Most people are not going to want to pay to watch this. Not even die hard poker fans.

Anyway, would-be stream viewers have 20 minutes to sort the stream out, as the players are currently on a 20 minute break after the days first level has now completed.

Not sure if it'll work yet because they seem to be on a break, but I found mention of proxy servers and 'think' I've got it sorted.

Download foxyproxy first.  I'm using chrome and was able to do it as an add on.

http://getfoxyproxy.org/downloads.html

Set the proxy to this French proxy

IP: 94.23.193.165
Port: 8080

if that proxy doesn't work, try one of these:

IP: 176.31.165.100 Port: 80
IP: 37.59.236.42 Port: 3128
IP: 91.121.202.135 Port: 3128
IP: 94.23.193.165 Port: 8080

Then go to this link...

http://www.barrierepokernews.fr/live-streaming-wsop-europe-2012-main-event/

Found the above info on 2+2.

The website's French, but the stream should be ok.  Won't know for sure until they come back from the break.

Tighty I think he had A4 or something similar, hit a 4 on flop, bit of action and basically got outdrawn by j9 who hit a 9 on the turn I believe.

Such standard hands yet such extreme dramatics from him.

Came during a bad run of hands for him which culminated in him lying on the floor whinging and crying about ppl bluffing him and getting there.

Was a bit of a yawn seen all this from him b4 imo, but can see why some mighta found it amusing i guess.

Think Hellmuth opened and Baranov defended

flop 348

Hellmuth gets c/raised by Baranov and calls

Turn 9 Baranov leads and Hellmuth calls

River 6 chk/chk

Baranov shows J9 and Hellmuth had A4

Hellmuth on the floor :D

Really diverse final 4.  Fantastic dynamic being developed.

I'm a decent Hellmuth fan, aside from his silly table tantrums I think he's great, get way more stick than he deserves and prolly not quite enough credit.

However, the way he has played at this final has been nothing short of bizarre, just can't really fathom what exactly he's been thinking!

Having said this though, the way he's played vs Baranov on this table has been brilliant, I know he's super experienced with the best seat on the tables weakest player but even still very good.

Just some of the other things, utterly bizarre behavior/play some of the time here lol

Agree with all of this. I like Hellmuth, and think he's done so much to prove his critics wrong, but has never got the justification he deserves.

He is a bit weird sometimes though lol

The amazing renaissance of Phil Hellmuth continues. After a fallow few years the Poker Brat has enjoyed a string of great results at the WSOP and he's capped it off by winning the WSOPE Main Event.

Hellmuth claimed his 13th World Series bracelet after outlasting a final table that included Jason Mercier, Britain's Chris Brammer and former Main Event third place finisher Joseph Cheong. The €1,022,376 first prize takes Hellmuth's career earnings past the $17m mark and puts him in a commanding position in the Player of the Year race (Greg Merson can catch him if he wins the October Nine).

“People don’t expect me to use this word,” said a gracious Hellmuth, “but I’m humbled by this. This was the best poker I’ve ever played in my life, I know that for certain. I played as well as I could possibly play, and here I am.”

1st Phil Hellmuth €1,022,376
2nd Sergii Baranov €632,592
3rd Stephane Albertini €423,360
4th Joseph Cheong €292,320
5th Christopher Brammer €207,648
6th Paul Tedeschi €149,184
7th Stephane Girault €108,864
8th Jason Mercier €84,672

Mike Watson wins €50k Majestic High Roller

Phil Hellmuth wasn't the only million euro winner in Cannes yesterday. Mike Watson joined the seven-figure club too after taking down the €50k Majestic High Roller.

Watson scooped the €1m jackpot after outlasting a final table that included David Benefield, Tobias Reinkemeier and Richard Yong before beating John Juanda heads up for the title.

1st Mike Watson €1,000,000
2nd John Juanda €600,000
3rd Richard Yong €400,000
4th Philipp Gruissem €275,000
5th Tobias Reinkemeier €200,000
6th Jani Sointula €160,000
7th Steve O'Dwyer €130,000
8th David Benefield €115,000
