Title: DTD £500,000 GTD Deepstack: Day 1b
Post by: TightEnd on August 31, 2012, 11:36:30 AM
"This is a very big week for DTD, balls and credibility definitely on the line here" Rob Yong, August 2012

Well, the first of the big days in that big week was yesterday and 235 players were in Day1a.

That gives DTD a sporting chance of hittin 1,000 Unique runners (no re-entries) over 3 starting days to hit that whopping £500,000 GTE for this £500+60 Mega Deepstack.

To put that Guarantee into context, a half a million pound guaranteed prize pool is £50,000 more than the combined guarantees of THREE of DTD's regular £500 Deepstack events.

Play begins at 2pm with late registration until 8.30pm

16 40 minute levels with a 50,000 starting stack and the WSOP blind structure

Yesterday's play was often, um, creative!

blondepoker will of course be covering all five days. Myself until Saturday, Jonathan to the finish

I will be commentating on a live stream of the feature table for the whole of the final day's play on Monday, and hopefully plenty of people will watch that. Someone, hopefully a blonde, is going to scoop a six figure first prize.

Please join me for play at 2pm

First post in this thread says 8.30, but last night it was later due to there being an added break.

Welcome, don't worry about anything forum wise, everyone is friendly. I've splashed about in every forum and never had a problem.

I "think" its 2.30 start day 2 and 3. Only 80% sure though

Looking at the seat draw, noticed the tables are 6max. Do they stay 6max or is this just to allow late entries etc?

May have to revise my strategy tomorrow if its 6max...........

First hand of the tournament

Albert Sapiano raises with  9d 2d, gets one caller

flops second pair on a  flushing board, and is check called

has third pair by the turn, and is check called

check check on a blank river and he's good

Start as you mean to go on I suppose

Play any two, hit part of a flop and hold on

Thats just to start. Late entries added to each table. Easier than starting with full tables and having people  reg with no seat available until 6/7 others reg.

A Round with Deadman

blinds 100-200

All around starting stack

43    1    Simon Deadman
43    2    Rasmus Gehl
43    3    Paul Bowser
43    4    Gary Orme
43    5    Anthony Mackay
43    6    Ian Thorburn
43    7    Andrew Hulme

Hand 1 button seat 6

Gehl UTG tries to raise, throws in a single 500 chip, says nothing, goes as a call

Thorburn calls (sigh, saved to notepad)

Deadman checks the big blind

 Jh 2h Jd

checked to Gehl who leads to 225.

Thorburn calls (told you)

Deadman folds

 3c

Gehl, 500

Thorburn calls

 9d

Gehl checks

Thorburn 1,400

Gehl folds

Thorburn shows  Js

Hand 2 button seat 7

All give Gehl in the big blind a walk

Deadman in the small blind

"Tighty, ask the forum what I should have done there, I had Q-6 off"

"OK Simon, well played, plenty of flair there"

Deadman looks at me, an eyebrow raised. I think i got away with the sarcasm

Hand 3 button seat 1

Orme opens to 600

Thorburn calls

Bowser in the big blind calls

 7s Qh Aspades

Orme leads for 1500

Thorburn calls

 4d

Orme 3,000

Thorburn calls

 2d

Orme 8,000

Thorburn calls

Orme  7d 7h

Thorburn mucks

Hand 4 button seat 2

Hulme raises to 500

All fold

Hulme shows me Q-Q

"That's the minimum in these early levels Tighty"

"Are you doing a round with Tighty?"

"Yes"

His back stiffens, he sits up, he begins to concentrate

Hand 5 button seat 3

Thorburn calls

Bowser 450 on the button

Mackey in the big blind calls

Thorburn calls

 8d 2h Jc

All check

This prevents Thorburn calling

 5d

Mackey 1,000

Bowser calls

 6h

Mackey 2,000

Bowser calls

Mackey wins with  Ahrt Js

hand 6 button seat 4

Gehl to 500

Thorburn calls

 Jd 9h  Kc

Thorburn check calls 700

 Qh

Thorburn check folds to 1,000

hand 7 button seat 5

Mackey on the button to 500, all fold

That completes a round with Deadman, who did nothing. Luck of the draw.

Ian Thorburn on the other hand called 12 times in one orbit. Impressive.

James Brown raises to 800 at 100-200

He feels good, as he knew he would

Tuan Le makes it 2,400

Gets three callers before it gets back to Brown, including Albert Sapaiano and Bharat Joshi

Brown calls.

 Ks 7s 4s

Le has  Kh Kd

Le 7,000

Brown 27,000

Le shoves

Brown calls with  Aspades Qs

and holds to take Le down to 12,000 and himself to over 90,000

Brown now feels nice, sugar and spice

183 of 185 remain

blinds go 150-300 ra, average 51,000

Tuan Le was second out, behind James Mitchell

With his 12,000 he got them all in with K-K

Sapiano called the all in  shove with 10-10

Albert rivered a 10

I am now trying to avoid Mr Le, pleasant as he is, as there are only so many times I can hear the story and nod my head obligingly

Once upon a time a car set off from Leeds

It was a bit earlier for these young lads, it only being 2pm, and as they wiped the sleep from their eyes they set the destination "Nottingham" into the satnav

In the car were three young men, with combined live poker winnings of $3,900,000

This was split

$3.100,000

$788,000

and

$16,000

Unsurprisingly, $16k boy, being little, was made to drive while the other two smoked cigars and drank champagne in the back

But who could they be?

first one to get all three before the pics go up wins

Up to 200 today in level 6

the exits are

189    Robert Curtis
190    Eirimas Livonas
191    Ian Barnett
192    Simon Brooks
193    Luke Bayliss
194    Simon English
195    Jalal Rasoul
196    Henry Whale
197    Mathew Truepenny
198    Darren Athinis
199    Tan Luan Le
200    James Mitchell

DTD are going to pull out all the stops to fit over 500 in here tomorrow, if the demand is there. Blow in dealers being rung, tables being found

They have 300 registered, a chance of 200+ walk ups? I would think so

Should be an interesting day....

Waitress uniforms are incred......!!!

Not very HR Junior Senior...removing you from my Linkedin.  Yes they are pretty incred, i couldnt concentrate yesterday

Lol just been explaining employment law to seat 4 given that he told me a lot of girls resigned due to having to wear them. Presume some sort of uniform clause written into the contracts means Rob has more of his arse covered than they do :-)

I have to say I don't blame them.  The constant leering that I observed throughout yesterday was frankly cringeworthy.  Is it really that important to DTD that the waitresses are viewed as sexual objects rather than human beings?  Do men go there to leer at these girls or to play poker?  Does it influence your decision of whether to go there or not?  Interested to know!  On a positive note it clearly puts the leerers off their game!

DTD is the class act....venue , staff , tourneys , guarantees , service , but in my opinon not those outfits.

Maybe im getting old.

A round with Mudd coming up....

Meanwhile, on table 44, two limpers and Mitch Johnson shoves the small bind for 15,000

Original limper folds and Linton Reid calls with 7-7

Mitch 4-4

No help for the underpair and Mitch is on the cash game list

As Mitch is knocked out, next to him the sepulchral rotund figure of Andrew Hulmes offers his hand in commiseration with a smile, in the spirit of genuine friendship and with genuine warmth

Mitch gets up, doesn't take the hand, and walks off.....

Table 44 coming up

Meanwhile its all going off on table 11

Paul Hardy raises and Michele Parrillo calls

In the cut off Daniel Robertson shoves for 20,000

Hardy calls

Parillio now reshoves for 85,000

Hardy now has a decision

(Robertson in the grey hoodie)

Hardy begins ranting

"I've never put 20,000 into a pot and folded in my life "

He's in his 60s

"Win this and I am through to Sunday"

Robertson tells him he can phone a friend if he likes

"I told my wife I'd get through to Sunday" says Hardy, EV perhaps not uppermost in his mind with the prospect of a rolling pin over the chops when he gets home going through his cranium

"Its my tournament life" he wails, like a child left at kindergarten on the first day

He eventually folds, showing 10-10 to the table

Parillo A-Qhh

Robertson A-Qdd

"I knew it" says Hardy "I knew I should have gone for it"

Theatrically he puts his head in his hands

In seat 8, Keith Johnson tries, and fails, not to look too disdainful

(Hardy bottom left)

Hardy stands up

the flop comes

2-9-10 rainbow

Someone else at the table stifles a giggle

The dealer tries not to grin

"Fuck" shouts Hardy

Yonder across the room, The TD looks up

"At least you aren't going to home to your wife" I whisper, sotto voce.

Fortunately, Hardy's thoughts are elsewhere......

Agree. Thought the valets have always looked great but surprised DTD is going for that sort of look.

DTD is the class act....venue , staff , tourneys , guarantees , service , but in my opinon not those outfits.

Maybe im getting old.

I'm not old and I agree, bit ott.

You been down to DTD lately? Are you playing this?

Be down tmoro.

235 yesterday

211 today and open for another 30 minutes or so

300 already in for tomorrow and its going to depend on the number of walk ups tomorrow as to whether they get close or not

DTD will lay it on the line to get everyone seated, extra tables are in place already

As it stands though there is going to be a sizeable overlay on the £500,000 GTE which is a great shame for DTD but fantastic value if you can get here tomorrow, or are already through from 1a or latertonight 1b

Tomorrow is going to be an interesting day

A round with Mudd coming up....

Meanwhile, on table 44, two limpers and Mitch Johnson shoves the small bind for 15,000

Original limper folds and Linton Reid calls with 7-7

Mitch 4-4

No help for the underpair and Mitch is on the cash game list

As Mitch is knocked out, next to him the sepulchral rotund figure of Andrew Hulmes offers his hand in commiseration with a smile, in the spirit of genuine friendship and with genuine warmth

Mitch gets up, doesn't take the hand, and walks off.....

He shook my hand when I ran my 4s into his aces last weekend at Cov GUKPT!

Entry for today is closed with 217 runners

235 yesterday
220 today
455 total

300 in for tomorrow

So they are 245 runners short of the guarantee

There were 117 walk up buy ins today

Can DTD get 245 tomorrow to hit this guarantee?

I've learnt not to back against them, but it must be a long shot surely?

There should be overlay value if you are considering the trip.....

Here's Deadman's chance for a treble up

Reuben Marriott calls in mid position

Mindaugas Bacevicius makes it 15,000 in the big blind

Bandyle folds

Marriott calls

 7c 5c Ks

Mindaugas Bacevicius leads for 15,000

Marriott all in for 36,000

Playing over 150,000 Mindaugas Bacevicius calls with  Qc Qh

Marriott  9c Tc

turn  Ahrt

river  Jh

Mindaugas Bacevicius is the first player I've seen over 200,000

Simon's thoughts on the overnight sutuation

Hi Guys

Well day 1b has finished last reg and we have a total of 455 players, tomorrow we need 545 to hit the guarantee!

There are 290 pre reg and 20 from tonights last club satellite so 235 walk ins required.

I think we have a slim chance, we can seat 450 from the start and easily get 95 more in over the 9 late reg levels but are there 235 players out there with £560?

Last 2 days we have had approx 100 each day.

The overlay is currently £117,5000, i am sure the value hunters will be watching all day to see what it is knowing that they can join at level 9, 500 1000 with 50bb and the average approx 65,000.

Here is Robs latest blog....

http://www.dusktilldawnpoker.com/blog.php?profile=4&id=335

Everyone has worked so hard i really hope we make it.

Cheers

ACES

Mindaugas raises UTG at 1200-2400 to 5,000

Jerome O'Shea in the small blind flats

Andrew Hulme with Q-Q in the big blind puts in a chunky 3 bet

Both call

Flop 9-7-7

o'Shea check

Hulme leads

O'Shea the only caller

turn 10

O'Shea jams, overbet of 120,000 into about 80,000

Not the easiest of spots I don't suppose for the rest of your stack, for Andrew

Andrew calls and is met by 9-9 for flopped nines full to knock him out

Stephen Rawle is a big chipleader, comfortably over 400,000.

To put this into context, stackls over 200,000 are still rare out there

David Knight raised to 6,000 at 1,200-2,400, and Carlo Guido shoved 60,000

Rawle in the small blind flats the shove

Knight reshoves for 90,000 total

If he's calling for 60, he's calling the extra 30

Rawle 5-5

Knight A-K

Guido A-J

Q-6-4-8-2 knocks two out and the 270,000 pot sails its way to the pair of fives

river K bet, Bosley shove, call by A-J

Mindaugas Bacevicius raises to 6,000

Jerome O'Shea a big three bet to 50,000

Mindaugas Bacevicius shove 110,000 total with zero fold equity it seems to me

O'Shea snaps with Kings

Mindaugas Bacevicius K-J

board runs out A-Q-x-x-10 to double Mindaugas Bacevicius up

----

Same orbit Mindaugas Bacevicius raises to 4,800

Trevor Routledge in the small blind shoves 48,000 and is snapped off

Snapped off by Q-9 of hearts. As you do

Routledge 10-10

flop 6-10-8

Lovely

turn J for the  nasty gutshot to knock Trevor out

Mindaugas Bacevicius now up towards 300,000

He's now likely to next pass a hand sometime on Sunday.

Robert Wendrenski flatted in position

Perrins makes it 28,600 in the big blind

He's in an interesting spot

James Keys, Matt Perrins next to each other, both directly out of position to chip leader Stephen Rawle

Despite the intake of tequila and the distractions of the Welsh (female) blonde at his table until recently (Mr Nicholson is a little charmer, isn't he?) he's still scrapping on an average stack

The secret apparently, according to his twitter feed, is to never reach showdown in Live Poker.
