Title: DTD £500,000 GTD Deepstack: Day 1c
Post by: TightEnd on September 01, 2012, 10:19:02 AM
Today is the acid test. A big one

Day1a saw 54 of 235 go through

Day1b saw 51 of 220 go through

So going into today the situation is as follows

455 in so far
310 registered for today

Runners required to hit the £500,000 GTE: 235

So when the doors open today, DTD starts with an overlay of £117,500 and we'll see what happens

Doors open at 1.30pm, play begins at 2pm. Late registration until 8.45pm

DTD have dealers coming, extra tables up. If you show up, they'll get you in.

Today is being updated by JGillDTD

A quick word about Jonathan. It's ok he'll still be in bed

Jonathan has been on a year's placement from his University course. You could not wish to meet a nicer lad and he's been tremendously helpful to DTD and also to the blonde updates in 2012

He goes back to Newcastle this month, and asked to do an update before he went back, and DTD asked me.....

So here it is, just the 50 tables then Jonathan.

Go well, and a special request to everyone watching to help him out over the next few days. Patience and understanding please.

Jonathan will be along at 1.55pm, knowing him, to kick us off!

Welcome to Day 1c at Dusk Till Dawn

This is the earliest I've arrived here before the event has kicked off, by a good 40 minutes!

This is the 2nd time this year there has been tables in the bar area, last time of course was during the record breaking £1million GTD UKIPT event.

358 registered so far meaning in just 20 minutes we have already had 58 walk ins with a long queue of people still waiting to buy-in.

Coming to watch today. Currently in black cab, trying to negotiate football traffic (the driver is, anyway).

VBOL to SteveF but am hoping for a fun-filled day, for DTD to hit the guarantee (easy to say when you're not value hunting!) and for me to be able to think of something witty to end this sentence.

Nope. Ah well.

Confusion early on, two Lee Taylor's with the same name, they have sat next to eachother thinking they are both sat in seat 7, when in fact one of them is on a completely different table

Have set up camp in the far bar (the one that used to be the VIP bit), with laptop juiced up and connected. Great TV views ftw. Feel free to pop over for getting bad beat stories off your chest*

Five tables set up in this bar area. I have my poker cliche bingo card ready. Have already ticked off:

"Lucky river"
"I picked up the wrong chips"
"What are the blinds again?"

If you hear someone shouting LINE! in the near future, you've found me. Write your own gags.

*Tal Counselling Services is an unregulated non-existent company and might actually laugh at your bad beat stories, although he will try not to.

Meanwhile Tim Chung is bust
Peels a 4bet pre with  Ad Qs
Flop -  Ts Js Ks, Chung check/calls the bet from Cradock
Turn -  Qh
Cradock bets 9.2k, Chung says he jams to get Cradock off the chop, Cradock has  Aspades 9s leaving Chung drawing dead.

"I'm sorry I shouldn't have called preflop" says Rees

Turn -  3c
Gough check/calls 1,600.

River -  Tc
Gough checks, Rees bets 3,300. Gough takes a while, Rees says "you got AK?" Gough shakes her head "a pair? nooooo!"

One of the chipleaders has to be Craig Storer, on about 110k
I think it was Jack Buckley who played abotu 2 hands before getting stacked by him.

Get a pic please, is he still in beach attire? Maybe he can buy some new "clean" plimsoles from new look. He won his seat at 2am this morning.

22k in the middle on  Js Th 7d 3c
Maylis Boardman checks, Leighton Buchanan bets 15k.
Boardman seems to be agonising, before getting it in for 45k.
After 3 seconds of not being snapped off, she instantly looks relieved.
Buchanan tanks and tanks, eventually folds meaning Boardman is now up to 85k.

Went to the bar earlier. Just me standing there and a number of valets (Competition: what's the collective noun for DTD Valets? Don't phone; it's just for fun). I could not have felt more overdressed.

The ten minutes it took to get served felt like an hour.

I'm def not a fan, but then I'm - by my own admission - quite weird, so it's hard to assimilate my opinion with anyone else's!

great effort so far mate, keep it going! you've been great for DTD and I hope they realise it!

Keep it up and get the fans what they want! = picx ainec

Good luck to all the blondes playing the whole ruddy thing...
Alex, LilD, Smashed, Keys, and everyone else I know from Northampton, Nottingham, London and around the tour....
Sucks to not be around to play this event, I missed two of the big ones @dtd this year, and had a rough UKIPT Notts - back soon hopefully!

Valet uniforms - they're obviously pleasant to letch at, but lets be honest.. not very classy or appropriate... behave yourself dtd. (understand the tip differences are probably enormous... but how much more would they be if they were topless? - theres a topless barbershop near me... legal apparently)

Off out to see a proper circus now, so I'll look forward to checking back for updates on this one soon!

best of luck again to all and lets get the 1000 players smashed!

Round of hands at table herbie/Nirvana!

Hand #1: I get there midway through, 20k in the middle on  8c Qh 8d 2s 7c
Herbie checks, Spittles bet 7,600.
Herbie to 17k, Spittles calls, Herbie shows  Kc Kh which is good

Hand #2: Spittles 3bets Jonny Chapman
Chapman with a quick 4bet, Spittles with a quick fold

Hand #3: Chapman raises, 3 callers
 6c Qc Jc flop
Checks to Alistair Carins, better known as sharkman who bets, all players fold

Hand #4: 3 limpers, Sharkman takes a stab on the flop, Chris Rose calls
checks both turn and river, Rose wins with  Ad Js turning a Jack, Sharkman with just Ace high

Hand #5: Spittles to 1,100, Owen Mullan calls
Mullan then folds to the c bet of Spittles

Hand #6: Nirvana to 1,100, Chapman on the button to 3k. Nirvana to 6,700, Chapman calls.
Flop -  Jh 2c 5d
Nirvana check calls 5.1k.
8c turn, check/check.
River -  5c
Nirvana bets 8,100.
"Are you a satellite winner?" ask Chapman the table cracks up
"did you hear that? I'm being accused of being a satellite winner! You have to be good to win a satellite!"
Chapman with the eventual fold

Hand #7: Chapman to 1,025, Sharkman calls
"Are you a satellite winner?" asks Chapman to Sharkman, Sharkey folds to a cbet

Hand #8: Sharkman makes it 1,500, Raggy calls who check/folds

After an early mishap I'd chipped back up to 57k. Then at 250/500al a50 mid position raises to 1250 from 40k, I 3bet BB with Kings to 3.3k, he makes it 8k, I jam.

He has dem aces.

17k now. Let's gogogogogo!

Sounds like thirsty work, Lee  ;ifm;

You got any hot pants Tal could do with a tea !

You've got more chance of out-flopping me

Went to the bar earlier. Just me standing there and a number of valets (Competition: what's the collective noun for DTD Valets? Don't phone; it's just for fun). I could not have felt more overdressed.

The ten minutes it took to get served felt like an hour.

I'm def not a fan, but then I'm - by my own admission - quite weird, so it's hard to assimilate my opinion with anyone else's!

Don't do yourself a disservice. Although we'll be in the minority, I think there are a few people who would agree with you.

It just seems a bit patronising to the poker players, and even more to the valets. I may well be wrong, but presumably the valets signed up originally to a waitressing job, with something that looked more like a waitressing costume? And so, when the change came in, they were effectively being told that they would have to make if they wanted to keep their job?

Would DTD agree that it's a shame there aren't more women that play poker regularly, and that a big part of the reason is the percieved masculine atmosphere in poker rooms? I bet that they do, but, to a first-timer's eye, this could make it seem not.

It's no big objection, as obviosuly all Vegas poker rooms look exactly the same, but just a thought.

Great updates; was going to late-reg today, but feeling dodgy after a wedding y'day, so enjoying the updates instead.

Great updates; was going to late-reg today, but feeling dodgy after a wedding y'day, so enjoying the updates instead.

It's not the biggest issue in the world and I know debating it for the second (third?) consecutive day of updates isn't helpful, but did want to throw my tuppence in. You and I are beginning to come over all Germaine Greer, which is - at least for my part - a little unsettling.

Rob knows his business better than I, so I'd never want to give the impression I'm telling him how to do his job. You're right that what they wear is no different to every Vegas casino, so there is probably something in it from a business perspective. The girls are all under 60, too, so that's one up on a good chunk of the Strip!

The fact that I have no idea where to look might actually be my problem, not theirs! They are all beautiful women with figures worth showing off. I would just prefer it done differently.

Am I right in saying they used to wear cocktail dresses or have I made that up in some dream (probably involving me winning the Monte Carlo)?

A much bigger disappointment is Dusk being 91 short. It's a real shame but, by the same token, it is incredible that, with so many three figure comps going on these past few weeks and, with the economic climate as it is, Dusk has managed to get 909 unique entries. 909.463 including Herbie (check his staking thread if you haven't already and want to cry with laughter - best of blonde contender for sure).

Speaking of stakes/steaks, mine has arrived. In the words of Henry VIII, "Arise, Sir Loin!". Not really a tournament update. Call it a bonus update.

Title: Valets Uniforms
Post by: robyong on September 01, 2012, 09:54:50 PM
Tightend has shown me this. Goodness me, I don't know where some of you get your information from, so many rumours go around about DTD, which is really surprising because we are so open as an organisation.

Lets clear the Valet uniforms up;

1. These are exactly the same uniforms as we used for the CPP model shoot 6 months ago, with the intention of using the same uniforms for the Valets in the run up to the CPP, whether we keep them after that, who knows. Hospitality staff within DTD has known about these new uniforms for 6 months, we just didn't get round to ordering them till a few weeks ago, was meant to be much sooner.

2. Zero Valets have left due to the new uniform. Fact.

3. All Valets that are in the uniform were recruited to wear this uniform and have been shown it and tried it on before accepting the job (since it's been planned for 6 months), anyone with over 6 months service has been given the choice to wear it, noone has been forced, goodness me.

4. We have also increased the pay for Valets by 30% for promoting the brand with the uniform.

5. The uniform is exactly the same as Hooters but black, its way less revealing that 99% of the uniforms in Vegas, but if you don't like Hooters uniforms, I guess you wont like these

6. Feedback so far on Valets uniforms to me personally is 80% 20% in favour, I have asked 100+ customers over last few days, although I admit, some of the 20% feel very strongly against them, that's life, cant keep everyone happy all of the time

I am really sorry for not putting out a Official Statement on this subject earlier, wrists slapped :)

Roberto

P.S. 910 :( :( :(

Not sure of the exact betting dynamics
however, Ian Gasciogne all in for 30k with  Kc 2s
Thew all in for 65k with  8d 8h
Stan Topol has them both covered with  Ad Kc
Thew in good shape as Storer announces he folded  Ac Qd

Board runs out  2d 9d 5s 3h.....  7c
Thew elminates Gascoigne who mis-timed a squeeze
Now up to about 170k, huge pot

Tightend has shown me this. Goodness me, I don't know where some of you get your information from, so many rumours go around about DTD, which is really surprising because we are so open as an organisation.

Lets clear the Valet uniforms up;

Rob, whatever you do there will always be someone moaning.

I like the valets uniforms.

They all look smart and walk around smiling

Well done DTD

I think the valet thing is a complete disgrace. I saw a girl who was almost pushing on being a size 10 walking round, I can only assume she will put on a stict diet to conform to industry standards. Also ordered 2 blueberry muffins, one of them had more blueberrys than the other. Please ensure there is an even amount of blueberrys in each muffin

KK gets folded pre alert....

Utg min raises
Craig storer 3 bets to 7k out of 160,000
Bb 4 bets to 17500 from 140,000
Utg folds
Storer folds kings face up zomg... Rang me and sounded happy about it, I think I definatly peel the flop hope to hit a king/call flop and re-evaluate turn.

Understand his reasons for folding though. 160k is massive at this stage and the bb is a super nit but aagghhh fold kings pre :(

Yep.

Did it once. Even asked the guy "Will you show if I fold?" just so that, when he said yes, I'd know I was behind. Folded my kings face up to the expectant crowd. All eyes then turned to the villain, who turned over his Ace...Jack.

Then again, I'm pretty rubbish.

At the risk of treading on toes, an actual poker hand update:

AIPF 3 way KK v QQ v shorty JTo

Board comes 46758

Cue audible gasps and giggles.

While Kings is - and fair play to them for doing so - taking a picture of the hands with his smart phone around a minute later, Queens says "Oh! There's a straight on the board! I thought I'd lost!"

Innit marvellous?

135k, hes stacked them extra high to tempt me but I somehow resisted.

Meanwhile Paul Murphy makes it 5,500, Thew flats.
Flop -  Qc 3c 4d, check/check
Turn -  6h
Murphy bets 7k, Thew to 18k, 43k from Murphy, Thew flats.
River -  5h
Murphy checks, Thew ships it all in, Murphy tanks for 5 mins, gets clock called, folds  6c 6d face up

Thew up to 250k, one of the chipleaders without doubt

Board says 198 remain. In 5 mins, blinds go to 1,500/3,000/400, which will mean the average stack is a tickle under 40bb.

Plenty of action to come in the next level or so, methinks.

Title: Re: Valets Uniforms
Post by: aaron1867 on September 02, 2012, 02:19:04 AM
Tightend has shown me this. Goodness me, I don't know where some of you get your information from, so many rumours go around about DTD, which is really surprising because we are so open as an organisation.

Lets clear the Valet uniforms up;

I don't understand why there has been a change of uniform though, it doesn't change a poker players mentality because the valets are wearing something different?

Also, has the pay of employees NOT wearing the uniform been increased by 30%?

A round with Foulder (his pun not mine, sadly):

Hand #1:
Cowmeadow all in for 43k, gets through

Hand #2:
Fadil Isufi to 10k, Thomas Myland flats (this man features heavily in the next few hands)
Leene Taylor to 45k, Isufi folds, Myland calls.
Flop -  3c 6c 2h
Myland checks, Taylor bets 45k, Myland all in for 200k, Taylor calls for his 140k
Myland -  Ac 5c
Taylor -  Js Jh
Despite all the outs, none were hit, Taylor with a big double.

Hand #3:
Cowmeadow to 11k, Myland all in, Cowmeadow calls
Myland -  8c 8d
Cowmeadow -  Ac 8h
8's hold, Cowmeadow to 20k, Myland to 100k

Hand #4:
Sean Belton all in for 76k, Myland All in
Belton -  Ad 8h
Myland -  Ac Kd
"I'm favourite" says Belton
8c 6c 3c flop, two spades peel off to double Belton up, Myland down to 30k

Hand #5:
Myland all in, Cowmeadow calls.
Cowmeadow -  Ad 7h
Myland -  Kd Kc (obviously)
King's hold, Myland to 60k, Cowmeadow to 20k

Hand #6:
Cowmeadow jams for 21k with  6d 4h
Isufi calls with  Qs 3c
Queen hits the straight, Cowmeadow out.

Hand #7:
All in from Myland, this time it gets through.

Hand #8:
Taylor to 11k, this time gets through without an all in

Day 1c is now over!
Today we saw 455 players take to the field, a total of 910 runners, 90 off the Guarantee resulting in an overlay.
115 players have made it through to tomorrows Day 2 which commences at 2pm, giving us 220 players still in the running.
Mohammed Fassil goes through as quite possibly the overall chipleader on about 700k.
Full chipcounts to come later this evening once they have been uploaded to the system.

Look forward to you all joining me same time tomorrow, before Day 3 where  live streaming will be hosted all day long!

Dubai = Comic Legend

Dubai + CPP Deposit = Comic Legend and Friend :)

The 910 players that attended over last 3 days, thank you for your support, sorry we did not quite make it. Genuinely feel that the majority of players did not want this to overlay even tho its better for the players value.

Cheers Rob

Couldn't play to br reasons and neither could my dad but sure we'd both do our best to support you in the future. Hope the overlay doesn't affect you too badly. DTD is the best poker room we have played in, and long may it last. One of my real summer disappointments that i didn't get to support you at ukipt Nottingham or this event. Gl in  the future, hope the valet uniforn issue is sorted, look ok to me as a 20 y/o male.

While everyone would have liked DTD to make the guarantee - it would have been an awesome achievement..

They haven't actually had such a huge hit as it appears.

The juice from the 910 that played almost exactly covers the 45k shortfall.

So basically they are running a 910 runner comp for nothing.

Painful yes, but not quite as bad as it appears at first glance.

Not strictly true on this occasion, as the Satellite programme cost them a good amount.....
