Title: DTD October £500 Deepstack £100,000 GTD: Day 2
Post by: TightEnd on October 06, 2012, 12:19:06 PM
180 began over two starting days

Today at 2pm, 66 return fighting for a share of the £100,000 Guaranteed Prize Pool

DTD are no doubt disappointed to overlay this event, but some of these players will be the beneficiaries

We'll play nine levels today, and probably get near a final....

Dylan Herbert is in great shape for a double up, KK all in pre versus Raj Dhiri's JJ, Jack on the river though to leave him with less than 20,000

He shoves that same orbit with K6dd on the button, called by Aaron Brunskill with A3 in the small blind

A six on the river means he survives, for now

Renee Xie raises and Turk calls in the big blind

 9c 8d 6d

Turk 10,000

Xie calls

 5s

Turk 25,000

Xie calls

 Qh

Turk "I am going to make it really expensive now"

50,000

Xie thinks

Turk begins to talk, a mastercalss of speechplay that lasts 7-8 minutes

"If you call and win you are chip leader. If you call and lose you are crippled"

"I know you have a pair of kings. I beat a pair of kings. Ask anyone around the table. I can have 5-6,6-8, 7-10, 5-9, 7-4,Q-8"

Xie reflects "I don't have a pair of kings"

Turk continues "You do have a pair of kings. If you call with a pair of Kings here its back to £5 rebuys at Gala for you"

Someone should tell the Mad one not to speak with his mouth open

Xie is good natured though

Turk continues

"Spread the pot for her. Look at that value!" he tells Xie

"Must be 100,000 in there"

"Maybe you want to call"

Xie asks him "Do you have a straight?"

"No, er, yes, er maybe" says Turk helpfully

Xie "I have a seven"

Turk is up off his seat "You have a SEVEN?"

"Oh no you have a seven, I have this wrong"

Xie continues to ponder

"I am screwed" continues Turk

"I am a gentleman though, never call a clock, take your time"

About 12 minutes has passed now

Turk calls a clock

Turk call over players from the next table

"Look, she might pass a seven here. You'd be all in with a seven here wouldn't you?" he asks the assembled throng

With seconds to go, Xie passes.

Turk pauses

Looks at her

"I bluffed you. Again" he says quietly, and stacks the chips

Kurt going bananas! <3

How's Terry been playing?

Tight as a badger's knackers, from what I can see

He is on the Mad Turk table, and frankly not many are getting a look in

Julian Thew is on the same table, directly OOP to Turk and pretty hamstrung. Down to 100,000. He tells me he did 25,000 in one move and now with 30xbb its sit and grind time

Ianki Santos 17,000 on the button

Turk calls

 8s Ac 7d

check check

Turk 20,000 on the  2c turn

Santos only playing 80,000 more

river  4s

Turk sets Santos in

Not an easy decision for Santos with  Qh Qd

He eventually calls

Fine call, as he beats  Ts 8c

Ryati Praninkas doubles through John Bousfield

Bousfield button raises

Praninkas calls

the board reads

 6s 6c 8c 8s 5c

Praninkas shoves the river having check called flop an d turn and gets a call

Praninkas has the lovely  9c 7c for a rivered straight flush

Bousfield (with a six? with an eight?) delcares himself lucky that Praninkas didn't have more.....

I'm typing, but Ian Gascoigne has stood up, raised both hands in the air as if he has scored a goal and shouted across the card-room

"I've bubbled"

I think that may be a clue that Ian is out 28th

Unlucky, sigh

Sigh...

Martin Cheese calls in the small blind

Terry Fletcher folds the big blind

Hicks the only caller

2d

Turk 77000

Hicks calls leaving himself 200000

Jd

Turk 200,000

Hicks exhales, and his eyebrows raise

A tough spot, resolved a couple of minutes later when he folds leaving himself 40xbb

Turk up to 800,000

Kurt Goodwin and Rajan Vaish play a big pot

Vaish on the big blind, Goodwin the button

By the end the board reads 10-7-5-7-5

Vaish checks

Goodwin shoves, enough to cover Vaish

Vaish asks Kurt how big his Ace is and receives no reply

Eventually Vaish folds A-Kdd

Kurt shows J-9 for nothing

Clear second chipleader, Mr Goodwin

Meanwhile back on table Rastafish, the great man himself is down to 80,000

Chaz Chattha is steamerollering it.

Over 500,000 and has Rastafish calling him a "table bully"

As Rastafish elucidates

"You are all worried about me,men, but you should be worried about this man. He is all tings to this game, braaapppp"

Wadey sits impassive at the far end of the table....lying in wait for a Rastafish shove....

Meanwhile on table rastafish

Chaz Chattha opens to 11000

Wadey Ashraf calsl on the button

Garry Hallows all in 110,000 in the small blind

Chaz folds

Rastafish "they have found you out at last bully, bull bull bull"

Chaz "I had ten high, what do you want me to do?"

Wadey calls with A-Q

Hallows K-K

Rastafish shouts "Ace man Ace"

Wadey's rail shouts and gets excited

6-2-8-A

The rail screams

Rastafish jumps up and down, like a rasta zebedee on some particularly good weed

River K

Wadey turns away, and curses

Rastafish throws himself headfirst into the railbirds, arms outstretched but the sea of bodies parts and Rastafish misses and crashes through the barrier on all fours

Karma, some might say

He rises, bearings somewhat askew, but careful to straighten his medallion and silently sits down

Hallows is quiet throughout, and gets his double up

I know its not the best of etiquette from Rastafish to say the least, calling in the cards to knock someone out, but its genuinely from over-enthusiasm rather than any malice. He simply loves the game a bit too much!

Meanwhile

Wigglesworth opens

Frey calls

Turk and Langley call in the blinds

 Qs 6d Ts

Langley leads for 17,000

Wigglesworth and Frey call

Turk check raises all in covering all of them

One by one they pass

Turk says they can see one

Wigglesworth has the lucky dip and picks  7h

the table laughs

Turk, for all his foibles, has been unplayable today. A virtuoso performance

Robertson recognises this and calls with A-8

Meanwhile Mad Turk raises

Martin Cheese calls in the big blind

Cheese donk shoves 8--5-2, two diamonds

I don't care how much he loves the game, or how popular he is. Calling in cards, in a hand that he's not involved in is really shitty.

Rastafish 15,000

Chaz Chattha 35,000 in the small blind

Robert Boon all in 55,000 big blind, having lost a big hand I assume just previously

Rastafish folds

Chaz has to call

With 9-4 off

Cue Rastafish uproar

"Brr-ting, you ever win anything fish? Playing like that?"

Chaz retorts that he was merely trying to isolate the weak player

Rastafish is now set off.

Anyway

Boon 10-10

flops a set of tens and doubles up

A railbird tells Rastafish that Chaz has won more lifetime than he has

"What? Him?" says Rastafish

Chaz replies (I assume tongue in cheek) "Six million online, 1.4 live Rastaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa" and beckons him towards him arms outstretched as if wanting a loving embrace

Rastafish guffaws, sits down and mutters to no one in particular

"I will overtake his winnings soon, but first I must killlllll him"

It is yes, but as I say its borne of over-enthusiasm not malice. Just how it is with Rastafish sometimes, not excusing it

Sturggling to keep up here

Rastafishes table is uproarious, action every hand and really raucous

Rastafish opens to 15,000

Hallows calls

Chaz 50,000 in the big blind

Rastafish shove

Hallows fold

Chaz call 250,000 with A-2!!

Rasta A-K

Rasta doubles

A matter of hands later Rasta and Chaz get it all in pre again

Rasta A-K, Chaz A-A

A on the flop, Chaz doubles back through

then Amjad Mohammed a shortie doubles through Chaz 10-10 v K-J

At this point the TD steps in and tells both Rastafish and Chaz to calm it down, official warning time as the shouting and speechplay is just getting too OTT

I've never seen Chaz like this, haivng updated many of his events over 7-8 years including a GUKPT wi n last year where he didn't utter a word outside "raise" for four days at the table

Always thought he was the shy sensible type!

Chaz all in for 200,000

Rastafish snaps with Q-Q

Chaz Q-8. (I don't understand it, Chaz has completely lost his head with this and the A-2 earlier)

Rastafish plays another pot, against Franco Menchella

on 3-5-K-8 Rasta moves in and gets a fold

Franco "I was on the draw"

"I know, man. Do NOT play against the fish. I will kill you"

He slams his cards down on the table face up, A-K, so hard that they bounce onto Menchella's remaining stack

The TD is now taking a dim view of these antics. Rastafish has calmed down, now, it appears

Tom Langley

Lost a 300k pot last hand before break. Kc9d on Q96ccc vs AcTx sigh. Built up to 300k with no showdowns. Back to 150 @ 4/8k, 19 left

Don't think chaz lost his cool. He seemed to play those hands reasonably standard.

Just amazed he got involved with the verbals.

Amjad Mohammed shoves 6-6

In the big blind Gary Robertson calls with 9-9

A-Q-A-7-J

in the small blind a Rastafarian gentleman states "I folded A-6. Knew I was behind, see"

Amjad Mohammed out 19th

Breaking to two tables

i was railing this table. Chaz has acted with pure class and played power poker around the bubble putting himself in contention for a big win. When he won the AK v AA with the fish he was giving it right back. He has been drinking Heineken all day and was pissed. Played like a lion but just got tilted by the fish

Hallows opens to 16,000

Martin Frey calls

Rastafish all in on the button, comfortably covering both

Both fold

"I do not want to see no flop with these" says Rastafish and shows Q-Q

Hallows has folded J-J

I remember a previous update, where Rastafish went on to win, where he has overbet shoved monsters (AA,KK repeatedly) from three tables out, and never been called once

Franco Menchella shoves 113,000 UTG+2 at 4-8k with A-10

Tom Langley in the big blind is playing 123,000

He calls, with K-Q

Q on the flop knocks Menchella out 18th and virtually doubles Langley up

Tom langley opens to 16,000

Garry Hallows goes to move all in, says nothing and a few chips fall over the line, not enough to raise. He is held to call

Rastafish calls in the big blind

2-3-K

Check check and now Hallows can make his shove

Both pass

Hallows shows 8-8

Rasta asks the dealer to show his hand, 10-10

"I call you if you do move all in pre-flop, not on that flop though"

Garry Hallows 28,000 raise

Peter Wigglesworth all in 300,000 on the button

Hallows folds A-J face up

The other table is far quieter, both in volume and in action terms. They seem hunkered down for tomorrow over there.

Table Rastafish wouldn't hunker if a nuclear attack was imminent....

Renee Xie 17,000

Mad Turk 41,000

On the button Praninkas shove 136,000

Xie folds

Turk, after a few minutes deliberation utters the words, immortalised throughout the West Midlands cash games

"Lets gamble" and calls

Praninkas  Ad Kd

"Not diamonds" exclaims Turk and reveals  6d 9d

 4d 8s Qd  5s

"dealer, seven, six, nine" implores Turk

river  3h

Praninkas doubles right at the end of play

Well he hasn't had chips, so suppose have seen lots of shoves. Easy to spot when he is next to me, but money has always been in front. But he's going to get caught at some point.

I'll see you tomorrow Tom, will sort money then.

Good luck everyone, I'm out to get pissed!

Another incredibly good Update Rich.

Some of your one-liners are just so good, & the description of the Rasta antics when he did his crowd-surfing was nothing short of suoerb.

Well done, & thank you.

Don't think chaz lost his cool. He seemed to play those hands reasonably standard.

Just amazed he got involved with the verbals.

Peeling a 3-bet with Q8 doesnt seem standard to me. Deffo Rastafish getting into peoples heads. Obv flop is std.
in the three major hands  fish AK v A2 Chaz    fish AK v AA Chaz   Fish QQ v Q8.
For my money Chaz is one of the best players in the UK but on this evidence he was out played and tilted by the fish. Fish played 2 perfect hands and was coolered in the other. Even when Chaz had the AA the fish kept up the show. He may not be everyone's cup of tea but he certainly was the entertainment last night

Alongside Toby Lewis and (a lot of people will laugh at this) but Cos Papheritis, I rate Chaz as one of the best players that I have played against.... He is brilliant.... I bought him a pint of Heineken yesterday ( a rare  thing as many of my friends will attest) and it was clear to any discerning person that he had had a few more after that, when he got involved with Rastafish
It certainly loosened him up and let's be honest the money is not so important to him. I was on the table next to them with Mad Turk, which was entertaining in itself, and yup the banter and clashes between Chaz and Rasta were thoroughly captivating! Luv both of em, great for the game and this tournament!

Oh and one final thing, although after Tikays recent advice I'm trying not to sling mud at other players these days.... Aaron Brunskil was a person who suggested that buying action in me at 1:1.3 was a complete joke, so I value George's opinion of the player Alex is offering odds on rather than Aarons!

What a pointless bitter post, Peter.

Lets get things correct, I didn't say buying action in you was a joke, I said the mark up was, so appreciate you not turning my words. As for you being here, doesn't make it look worth it either, you play a hell of a lot of tournaments & I've heard the numerous stories of what hands you have been playing and raising :) :) - but you can't do that today, well shouldn't imagine so!

Anyway good luck today.

No, not a level.

He's just been short stack most of time on table and shoved quite a few times. He doesn't flat call or often raise, a lot of shoving. But money has been in front all the time, solid, but..
