Title: Genting Main Event - Ant040689
Post by: Ant040689 on December 03, 2012, 07:17:20 PM
Hi there.

My name is Anthony Gaughan and I am looking to sell 55% at 1.17 for the £1600 Genting Poker main event at the Fox Poker club, guaranteed at £200k prizepool. Available to play either day 1 and can actually choose a day that the backers would prefer me to play.

http://www.gentingpokerseries.com/schedule/leg-7/  So I will be playing either Thursday or Friday 6th/7th of December.

I am a professional tournament poker player and have been playing for 5 years. I normally play up to 20 tables online across loads of different sites and since I finished uni in the summer I have been able to put in much more volume but only recently have I really been going for it with 12 hour plus spells for 5/6 days a week. I truly do love the game. With a recent overhaul of my finance management I have made sure that I am only backing myself for tourns between £100-350 now and asking for backing for everything else, just to protect my earnings online from the volatility that live variance gives you.

My online stats are below.

This is dated from the 15th of November, and since, I have seen more profits overall, mainly from Pokerstars. Note this has me up altogether, in the region of $175,000.

On the live front here is my HendonMob - http://pokerdb.thehendonmob.com/player.php?a=r&n=124220

Aside from those listed there is also a £5k win that hasn't been put up as the Vic don't put up the results of their £330 monthly and a $1400 win which can be seen on my pokerpages.com live tourney profile.

My live game has come on leaps and bounds of late. Have got a 30th in the Irish Winter poker festival where I got unlucky against Julian Thew with an overpair to a flopped set when I was 9th/30 and cruising , with 100k euros ftw it was unfortunate. But I found myself very comfortable throughout and especially so because of the deeper structure, where I found I could impose myself much more, which this Genting main event will have. My value betting and value inducing check calling was pretty superb. My bluff catching too was on point and I felt in dominant mood. A shame it ended in that way, but it left me hungry for more. I also had a very close shave in GUKPT Walsall, which shows again how I like the deeper structures.

Aside from that win and the others on my profile I really haven't concentrated myself fully on playing live as my bread and butter is online, which is probably why I haven't many flags, but I am really enjoying playing live and am very comfortable with it. Over this weekend in fact I played the 888 superstack with over 130 runners and came 6th, which was unfortunate as I was heavy chipleader in this pretty fishy field with about 25 to go, with no notable pros, but found myself lose with top pair top kicker and a flush draw against a flopped set and I had to do a lot of laddering and push/folding with a small stack to get to 6th which is a shame as I would have liked to have a proper run at it.

Link of that win can be seen on the 4th post on this page http://my.888poker.com/go/thread/view/136343/29518511/1st-december-superstack?pg=2

I am asking for 55% at 1.17 and believe that the price represents good value. Lowest stake request possible is 2.5%.

Breakdown: 2.5% = £46
                5% =    £93
                10% =  £187
                20% =  £374

I believe you would get good references of me from Bobalike, Greekstein, F3nix35, pleno1, Rupert and StuartHopkin, all of which I have sent money to, as per agreements, with no problems.

Payments on Tilt, 888, Party, Pokerstars, Hills and bank transfer are all fine, will pm any interested parties.

Thanks for reading!

N1, going to check all accounts tonight for transfers in, and will confirm if i have it.

I am probably going to go ahead and take the shot with at least 40% backing before Thursday night latest for me to enter day 1b on the Friday, would prefer 55% but if it doesn't come 40% will be needed to get the show on the road.

27.5% atm.

22.5% remaining people.

Ideally I would like that to be snapped up before tomorrow night, so I have a choice of either day 1's.

Might not be likely, so at the very least I would like just another 7.5% so I go ahead and can take 60% of myself and make this thread a go.

Anyone fancy flicking it in?

7.5% taken by F3nix35 via skype. Bloody legend tourney poker player that man is, probably knows my tekkers better than any other fellow pro and being backed by him means I know I am doing something right!

If the 5% reserved holds up from the guy who has yet to confirm I am most definitely in this tourn. I have 15% remaining though, if anyone is interested?

Title: Re: Genting Main Event - Ant040689
Post by: Ant040689 on December 05, 2012, 02:57:52 PM
I have 15-20% remaining and will be playing for sure now.

I am going to open it up to 1% investments if anyone is interested in that, to the initial investors if they want to top up a little bit or to people who have seen this and were put off a little bit by the minimum stake.

1% = £18

I am deciding to play day 1b on the Friday (if this is fine with the investors). If you are interested in investing put the amount in the comments and send through Tilt, Stars, 888 or Party and for Bank xfer lemme know, MoneyBookers is fine as well.

Will close this when all of it gets booked up or by 11.59pm Thursday night.

Cheers for reading.

Ant, something is not quite right with your maths, 1% is £18 while 10% is £187.

Ant, something is not quite right with your maths, 1% is £18 while 10% is £187.
 ;carlocitrone;

Been rounding down the percentages to the nearest point, it really is £18.72, as 10% is really £187.20 and 5% is £93.60.

Should have just put out the exact numbers instead of doing this, as thinking about it now 72p off of an £18 investment is quite big.

I have said it now so if it is ok with you and the others, it stands, my mistake, if people only want 1% they get the pennies discount. If they want 2.5% or more though they will need to pay the listed prices, so the most anyone saves is 72p from any one whole investment.

If i look for backing again, I will be just asking for the exact numbers instead of rounding down to avoid confusion, hope this is alright?

Quite likely now to be playing day 1a, always play better on these and I think it is because I get a break of a day before day 2 if I make it that far, so barring illness or anything else holding me back I will be playing tomorrow. But there would be no problem really to playing day 1b instead anyway I will just let you guys know tomorrow at midday.

I will be updating on breaks if the batt on my phone lasts any longer than a couple of hours!

So any time for more backing closes tonight at midnight if anyone fancies a punt, otherwise I am comfortable with how things stand.

Gl everyone!

That is correct I am on that amount.

Had got up to 67k, but for about two hours I was completely card and opportunity dead to get any chips really. Missed any flops i had got involved in and it was annoying but that is fine.

Hand of the day was having a 30k stack at the start of the hand and calling a big all in river bluff with QQ on a K56728 board, with a four to the straight and him betting flop, checking turn along with me and then pummelling river. It was for my tourney life, but It just didn't make sense for him to have a straight or the K or a better hand.

I played well throughout and perhaps my only problem was in one pot where I shot two barrells at a guy that just happened to have had it, otherwise my play was fine.

So overall, I was on a complete high at 67k after a huge bluff catching call, and then shortly after I had to change table, got no cards and no opportunities against randoms I wasn't comfortable with and as I got to learn of their trends I had no spots to take advantage of it and my stack dwindled down to 45k. Going into 800/1600, I have a decent stack and I will be very patient to find a good spot to get it in, not to say I will needlessly dwindle, but hopefully I will get booming quickly.

Table shared with Mickey Peterson today and I did learn a lot from just watching how he plays, was great to get the free lesson tbh, and I ended up mirroring his style slightly. Such a fanboy.

For Saturday I might be on this, but you can type a message to the commentators asking for a chip stack update, because my phone batt is unreliable and might not be able to help out. Won't be back on here until I am playing so best of luck to the backers!

Tyty. Thanks for the support, I really appreciate it.

I am feeling great again today and calmly confident. Noticing how my game is adapting fast to never be overly phased by big decisions to be made in higher buy in tournies and any tourns in fact and will play to the best of my ability, the optimal line. If I can hold my head up after a game and say I went for a move I thought was going to work considering the circumstances but fails miserably, making me look like a muppet, I will learn from it but not be annoyed at myself.

I left Ireland last month annoyed and I am never going to feel that again I can promise myself that, I won't be overlooking anything on that scale again.

I can see how much my game has improved actually by having a look at the QQ hand I mentioned earlier in the thread. A year or two ago, I fold, as calling it off in a high pressure situation like that, when you are more than likely going to be wrong, but only for your gut instinct telling you you are good, takes balls. I am getting better and better live at a quick rate, and hope to have further stake requests on here get the backing and come good as I am really enjoying it and know if I carry on with the way I am playing then hopefully, hopefully, a big score won't be too far away, live.

All I can keep on doing is keep knocking on the door very hard over and over again, being happy with my play every time I play, not being afraid by pushing the boundaries with different plays and just keep learning from better players, then it should be a matter of time. Thanks again for investing, would absolutely love to be sending you all some outrageous sums.

Was pretty ridiculous mate. The cards were dead for hours, and i was shoving light just to keep afloat. Then this hand came along. 9 handed, UTG playing about 40bbs raises 2.2bbs, he had been very active so had suited connectors from 76 upwards in his range along with any combo of broadway cards. Considering I had 7bbs it seemed an OK spot.

I get AJ in without a thought, A9 I probably fold, A10 is one of those so on the border you are right with the fold or the all in. You do basically give up your fold equity here though, but with A10, I am ahead or flipping a lot of the time. Plus there was the small matter of I was getting very very low and needed to manufacture a spot, however borderline, which forced my hand a touch.

O well. I am probably going to grind hard now into the new year, and probably ask for the next backing request in February/March as this was definitely a little high for me and I shouldn't be punting £770 in one go, but that didn't affect me, I feel confident that I played as good as I could have.

Unlucky investors, maybe next time!
