Title: UKIPT Edinburgh Post by: GPPT Jamie on January 02, 2013, 02:57:26 PM Hi all,
UKIPT Edinburgh is fast approaching at the the swanky Balmoral Hotel, Edinburgh. I thought it was important to clarify in advance buy-in options for this event as there has been confusion at previous UKIPT events held outside of a casino. As with previous UKIPT Edinburgh events due to license restrictions this event is CASHLESS which means we will not be able to accept cash under any circumstances on site at the venue. We are offering the following buy-in options: PokerStars Online - Buy-ins for ALL events are now available by using your PokerStars account. All events are listed under 'Events > More > UKIPT' PokerStars Onsite - We will have a registration team on-site who will be able to register you for events using your PS account funds should you wish. Dusk Till Dawn - Dusk Till Dawn are accepting buy-ins at their Cash Desk and via their Online Shop for the Main Event, High Roller and £330 2 day Event http://www.dtdshop.com/index.php?option=com_virtuemart&page=shop.browse&category_id=17&vmcchk=1 PLEASE NOTE IF YOU NEED TO BUY-IN USING CASH THEN DUSK TILL DAWN IS CURRENTLY THE ONLY OPTION The full schedule is now available on the website: http://www.ukipt.com/tournaments/edinburgh/ As per usual Day 1B will be extremely busy and the venue only has a limited capacity so choose your starting day early if this is particularly important to you. Any questions feel free to ask. Jamie Title: Re: UKIPT Edinburgh Post by: Boba Fett on January 02, 2013, 05:06:32 PM How are the sats with add ons going to work? Title: Re: UKIPT Edinburgh Post by: GPPT Jamie on January 02, 2013, 05:38:57 PM How are the sats with add ons going to work? Everyone gonna have to log in to their account to take the add on? You will be able to buy however many 'UKIPT Edinburgh £50 Re-Buy Cards' you think you may require at the registration desk before/during the event using funds from your PS account. If you do not use all the cards you bought then simply exchange them at any point during UKIPT Edinburgh and your account will be re-credited with the relevant amount. Each card will be individually numbered and can only be used by the player who purchased the re-buy. A little complicated but seemed to be the only way around it and we felt it was important to have local satellites before the event to the ME and HR. Smack next to - in fact part of - Edinburgh Waverley, which is the UK's 2nd largest railway station. The Balmoral is utterly splendid, too. You can take Afternoon Tea in the Gentleman's Lounge whilst a harpist struts their stuff, on a real harp. Don't get that in a Days Inn. Title: Re: UKIPT Edinburgh Post by: GPPT Jamie on January 03, 2013, 10:15:47 AM Didn't this used to be in August, same times as the fringe festival? If so, shame its not anymore. Yes it was and it is a shame. Feedback from players indicated that the majority would much prefer a city centre location plus a time of year when alternative accommodation wasn't sky high. We think Edinburgh still has a lot to offer any time of year and The Balmoral is situated in a stunning location. Title: Re: UKIPT Edinburgh Post by: GPPT Jamie on January 03, 2013, 10:23:24 AM What's the parking like for the Hotel. There is no on-site parking as the hotel is central (they have secure parking for £27 but that is crazy), I believe there is an NCP close and there is also a large car park at Waverley Station (2 min walk to the hotel). Mon-Fri these car parks are expensive however but the station car park does £4.50 per day at the weekend. However, the best option remains public transport if this is at all possible. Title: Re: UKIPT Edinburgh Post by: GPPT Jamie on January 09, 2013, 12:57:27 AM Is there going to be any special online sats on the run up? or just the usual 1-2 seat guaranteed? Hi, All the remaining UKIPT Edinburgh satellites are available to view in the PokerStars client - there is a 3 Seat Guaranteed £44 Freezeout tomorrow at 20:02 but we have not planned any mega satellites as such (we also have two live £50 rebuy satellites at The Balmoral on 16th at 20:00 and 17th at 18:00). We have well in excess of 370 pre-registered players the event at the moment and Day 1B availability is now extremely limited. As no one has every held a poker event at The Balmoral before we are not 100% certain on the maximum number of tables the venue can accommodate and will therefore cap each start day at a number we absolutely know we can accommodate before hopefully releasing extra seats should the venue size allow although this is not guaranteed by any means. You can register for the high roller until 3 hours before in the PS client, after this time you will need to register using our onsite registration team at The Balmoral. If you decide to register in advance for the HR and are still in the ME then our onsite registration team at The Balmoral will be able to process a refund immediately, same goes for any side event if you bought in via PS. We have now SOLD OUT Day 1B. It is possible that we will be able to accept some more registrations from Tuesday onwards once we have set up the room and have a better idea of table capacity. We will also be accepting alternates on the day for the first 3 levels. We still have around 80 seats left for Day 1A Cheers, Jamie Title: Re: UKIPT Edinburgh Post by: LB44 on January 13, 2013, 01:08:52 AM Hi Jamie, how can I buy into day 1B now its sold out? At present we have 4 seats available if you would like to register via the PS client due to movement between days. Once these go and if we do not manage to open more seats on Tuesday then we will take alternates on the day but cannot reserve spots in advance unfortunately. Title: Re: UKIPT Edinburgh Post by: GPPT Jamie on January 13, 2013, 01:57:11 PM I know you havent been yet and set up the room but is the tournament room at the Balmoral bigger than the corn exchange? No, the corn exchange was significantly bigger. I seem to remember us havng a lot of tables up there and there still being space to spare. Title: Re: UKIPT Edinburgh Post by: Boba Fett on January 14, 2013, 02:44:38 AM Any more on the reasons for the move?
Its now at a smaller place, 1b is almost full already and with the parking expenses it makes driving really diifficult as we either have to flick in £15 for a days parking or use lol-public transport and then that creates problems for people playing the sides that run a bit later. At corn exchange it was a good location for people commuting and it had tons of free parking. Oh and the hotel doesnt have free wifi int he tourney room, £12 for 24 hours. Title: Re: UKIPT Edinburgh Post by: GPPT Jamie on January 14, 2013, 08:39:29 AM Any more on the reasons for the move? At corn exchange it was a good location for people commuting and it had tons of free parking. Oh and the hotel doesnt have free wifi int he tourney room, £12 for 24 hours. We had nothing but complaints about the Corn Exchange, it's out of town location, facilities and atmosphere and have simply acted on player feedback from the vast majority of players. The Balmoral is a beautiful venue and we felt would provide a much better all round player experience especially having the player hotel in the same venue and lots of alternative accommodation close by. We do realise that the parking situation is not ideal but on the flip side at the last two UKIPT Edinburghs everyone who was not driving (the majority) had to pay £10 in taxi each way every day to the venue as there was no nearby accommodation. I would argue that the move has already been popular - we have around 480 players already registered with the last UKIPT Edinburgh attracting 519 entries at a smaller buy-in level, a number we should comfortably surpass. Hopefully it all works out now otherwise we will have egg on our faces :) Title: Re: UKIPT Edinburgh Post by: GPPT Jamie on January 14, 2013, 02:18:50 PM Hi all,
We have released a limited amount of seats for Day 1B as we have managed to secure some extra space. These are available via the PokerStars software or Dusk Till Dawn. We have almost 500 players pre-registered for the event so are expecting our largest ever field in Scotland. Alternates will be available on the day should these seats sell out. Any questions feel free to contact ukipt@pokerstars.com Jamie Title: Re: UKIPT Edinburgh Post by: celtic on January 14, 2013, 02:36:55 PM Any more on the reasons for the move? If I wanted to pay a bunch for parking Id just park outside the door and take the parking ticket I did that when I parked outside the Gutshot many years ago, the traffic warden's reaction when he came in and I told him to crack on was pretty good too, but nevertheless £15 is still much cheaper than a ticket :D Title: Re: UKIPT Edinburgh Post by: redarmi on January 15, 2013, 03:09:56 AM In the mid 2000's when i worked in Antigua the guy that owned the company (imagine an Italian American that was, in every way, just like Joe Pesci's character in Goodfellas) used to park in front of the building every day and every day he would get a ticket and send his secretary to pay it. After about 4 or 5 months the traffic warden lady was obviously a bit sick of this so she came up to the office and asked whose was the Mercedes Jeep that she gave a ticket to everyday. I went up to 32.5k and was building steadily up until level 6, then had a few car crashes dropped backed to my starting stack and had a mini recovery last few hands to finish on 19k, with blinds 400/800 this is still workable. Played 3 sides so far having landed on Weds night... £110 6 max Weds busto mid way thru KQ suited vs A5 suited to a serial raiser, but chopped the £55 turbo that night. Ran deep last night in the £110 turbo out 16th from 113 with 12 paid lost another 60/40, but another friend Greg Barbour (from Fyfe - blue blooder) won the £55 turbo on chip count for £1k, I backed a few players in the ME and will be watching Dominic Kats progress today, then playing the £110 win the button event at 8pm tonight. Good to see all the regular dealers including Dena Hassan up here and some of the DTD TDs as well as Rob and Alex!

Yong played like a man without a care in the world today and had the very clear intention of having a big stack or no stack. He managed the former, just missing out on the chip lead. He terrorised his table getting opponents off big hands and also donated at times, he said. Kimber's stack rose steadily today. He busted short stacks and managed to flop a set to win a bigger pot off the table "live wire" as he described him. Williams managed to win a flip to bust the talented Ben Jenkins and cracked aces with a flush draw. Kay managed to crack kings with queen-jack and was also helped when he flopped a full house and watched an opponent donate to him with queen-high. Stolen from ps blog. 6.03pm: Nice river trick from Batey Liam Batey found a much needed river card to save a lot of chips in a hand versus Vladislav Donchev. There was a raise to 4,900 and two calls before Batey squeezed to 11,300 from the big blind. Donchev was the only caller from the button. The flop came down 5♣4♣2♥ and Batey continued for 16,000. Call. Batey fired again, for 24,700, on the 5♠ turn and was called once again before both players checked the 3♠ river. Batey had made a BMW wheel with A♣T♦. His Bulgarian PokerStars qualifier opponent shook his head and open mucked 8♠8♥. Batey was stacking his mess of chips but seemed to have around 180,000. Donchev dropped to 65,000. -- MC Title: Re: UKIPT Edinburgh Post by: TightEnd on January 20, 2013, 01:05:25 AM 49 left overnight

12.15pm: From a potential second in chips, to second out Liam Batey had high hopes for today minutes before the end of play last night. He had even higher hopes on the last hand of the night when he got pocket aces in against Mikel Villaescusa's A♠Q♥. The latter made a flush and Batey came back third from bottom in the counts. Things got worse for him today. We caught up with him at the payout desk and he told us he three-bet jammed K♦9♦ over the top of an open with ace-jack. He was called and soon out the door. You could tell from his face that hand last night was still playing on his mind. The fine line in poker that sees goes go from a potential second place in chips to second out the door the next day. He was only beat to the payout desk by Dennis Henkes who was the first player put today. -- MC Ul Liam a good run tho Title: Re: UKIPT Edinburgh Post by: LB44 on January 20, 2013, 01:33:31 PM Thanks guys. 12.55pm: Jamie Sykes eliminated in 6th place (£17,000) This is fast becoming the David Vamplew show. He just got somewhat lucky to eliminated the dangerous Jamie Sykes is a cold hand. Sykes opened the pot with an under the gun raise to 85,000 and Vamplew three-bet to 183,000. The action was back on Sykes who four-bet to 325,000 then called all in for around 1,200,000 chips when Vamplew shoved. Sykes: K♦K♣ Vamplew: A♠K♥ The 5♦T♠7♠ was safe for Sykes. The J♠ turn opened up half the deck for Vamplew's hand now and prompted Sykes to say. "You have far too many outs, you have to miss!" The river fell as A♥ to send a spike through Syke's house. He took the loss well and wished everyone luck. As he walked off we heard him say, "Yawn" to his railing buddy, Team PokerStars Pro Jake Cody. Vamplew is up to 3,600,000 chips now and on fire. -- MC From pokerstarsblog.com Title: Re: UKIPT Edinburgh Post by: outragous76 on January 21, 2013, 02:08:48 PM So fucking sigh!
