Tim Chung is out

UTG limps, Chung makes it 800 with Q-10off. Kids huh?

Two callers

A third player throws in a 1k chip but actually this is stuck to a second chip, so its ruled as a riase

Chung makes it 5100. Kids huh?

The accidental raiser calls, the only caller

12,000 in the pot

10-3-5 flop

4300 from Chung

Reese Brogan the raiser makes it 12,000 with the same behind

Chung gets it in with top pair Queen kicker. Kids huh?

Brogan calls with 5-5 to knock him out

tikay has had an oscillating stack all day

He managed to bust Aces, calling with 87cc, flop Queen high two clubs

Aces led, tikay raised and Aces called

Aces hit an Ace on the turn, led and tikay called

tikay hit a club on the river to double up through Paul Singhal

---

Next hand tikay himself had Aces, and Singhal had Nines

Singhal had 8,000 left

flop 9-6-5 doubled Singhal up

---

Next orbit Alan Stearn raised with Kings, and tikay was one of several table's worth of callers with 43dd

flop KQJdd

Flopped flush held to felt Stearn.

On his birthday, Alex Goulder is out

He opened and Richard Whiteley was one of several callers

Goulder c-bet 10-7-rag and Whiteley called

Ace on the turn, Goulder led again,  Whiteley raised and Goulder jammed

Whiteley called with flopped middle set, sevens

Goulder 8-9 for the OESD, which missed

Whiteley

Also on the newest table is an old friend, Andrew Bradshaw, here in the plum shirt

Andy and I have had our run ins at events, as I try to report him accurately and usually in his opinion fail

Suffice to say, he's good value for a scribe

I watched as Dinarte Araujo De Sousa raised on the button and Bradshaw called in the small blind

"I am not in a folding mood today" Use of today superfluous, possibly

Lee Wright in the big blind came along too

2s Kd 3s is checked round

as De Souza checks in position Bradshaw raises a broad smile and tells him

"You are a wuss"

His passivity undeterred, De Souza also checks the Js turn after the blinds check

Bradshaw

"I haven't looked yet"

river  Aspades and everyone checks a thrid time

Showdown, and De Souza open mucks!

So Bradshaw and Wright have to show

Wright shows 9-8 no spades for nine high

Bradshaw, with a huge grin, flips a nine. My excitement is barely contained.

"ooh, i am going to win this with a blind hand" says Bradshaw

and flips an offsuit 4

"Oh, the 8 plays" he mutters, softly

and Wright takes the small pot

Andy would be on my list to commentate on on Sunday's live stream, as long as the table mikes are turned up, thats for sure

Incredible number of runners for a weekday.

Estimate on first prize, Tighty? 48?

Incredible number of runners for a weekday.

Estimate on first prize, Tighty? 48?

Now up to 250+ runners today

Should be over 300 tomorrow

So 550+ runners at £300 should be £165,000+ and a first prize of approaching £50,000

Remember 20 seats for tomorrow are GTD tonight in a Live and Online Satellite, details on the first page of this thread.

All wise people except the lummox stuck reporting it will no doubt fancy their chances of scooping a five figure sum for a comparatively small outlay...

I've got 25 tables to scoot round to find some big stacks. Which for a Friday afternoon is a bit much frankly  :D

If she isn't chip leader, she's very close, former DTD Deepstack winner Caicau Huang with nearly 90,000 comfortably over double average

With 214 of 257 left today and entry still open in Level 6, 250-500 average 36,000

It looks to me that Ben Young is the first stack comfortably over 100,000

How Caicau Huang chipped up

At 150-300, Liam Batey playing 40,000 opened J-J to 650

Huang on the button made it 1400 playing 35,000

Batey 2300

Huang flatted

flop 6-2-3, two hearts

Batey leads for 3,300

Huang 8,400

Batey jams, called by Aces

Aces hold, and Batey was out in the next level

In the big blind Richard Perry flats the 3 bets

Perry thinks and thinks, playing a virtually identical strack to Phillips and passed Q-Q

Some days you just wonder. You parambulate the room, tier by tier. Stop by a few tables. Chew the cud witha  few people

Your notebook is poised, your pen a quiver.

Can I find a hand to report on? Not a thing.

I stood a while by table Ian Gascoigne and Tom High. Seemed a reasonable bet. One a big recent winner at DTD. The other Tom High

The best I got (Having been promised by Gascoigne senior that I could play a hand with him) was

Tom High raising to 1600 pre and being called by Ron Musson from Blackpool way on the button

2s 6s Kd

High leads for 2,100. Musson calls

Js check check

As check check

Musson shows Ad 9s which as good when High mucks

Gazza senior of course, folded....Qs8s to the opening raise

Justin Devonport the new chip leader, with around 200,000

156 left after 8 levels, blinds going 500-1000, average 55,000

He has K-K on the button

Andrew Taylor J-J in the small blind

Both stacks, both above average, are in pre-flop

Both river a flush in spades, and Devonport's higher flush takes him to the head of affairs

2-3-2-J-8

Andy King raises and in the small blind the very lairy Romano Pizzo calls in the small blind

flop Q-5-7 rainbow

Pizzo checks and before King c-bets Pizzo motions his chips half forward with a sly smile, almost daring King to bet

King c-bets 6,000 with 20,000 behind

Pizzo immediately completes the all-in motion and check-shoves

King insta calls with K-K

Pizzo Q-8 off, and throws his hands in the air with Latin temperament, as if he cannot beleive he is behind

turn 3

river 8

Pizzo's arms cartwheel like a whirling dervish on a windy day.

King rises slowly

The table is a hubbub of whispering. This is, I learn, the third time Pizzo has bashed up Kings in the last few levels, once with Jacks and twice with a bag of spanners.

Bits and bobs from a round of the tables

tikay, playing 35,000 so under average...raises  5h 4h UTG and gets no action. Two to his right table chip leader is Sheffield's Mo Sadiq, aka Ish the fish. Even he won't call a tikay UTG raise...

---

Peejay Jenkinson is chipping up nicely, has over 100,000

He raises to 2,000 at 500-1000

The button 3 bets him to 5200

Jenkinson 4 bets to 11,800

All this with the  Ad exposed from a folded player

The button folds and the bashful peejay rakes in the pot as if butter wouldn't melt in his mouth

----

On a board of  5c Th 4h 3c

Adam picken raises over a 6,000 lead, to 13,500

He gets a fold, and is up over 40,0000 as a result

---

Heading over to a far table Richard Blacklock button min raises to 2,000 into Mark McCluskey's big blind

McCluskey check calls all three streets for 2,500, 6,600 and 13,700 respectively on

 Js Ahrt 7h 6c 4d with

Qh Jd and wins when Blacklock insta mucks once called on the river

Blacklock down to 22,000

Stephen Sethi limps UTG

Caicau Huang raises to 3,000 from 200,000+ at 600-1200

Fraser Bellamy calls

Stephen Sethi playing 70,000 now limp/re-raises 15,000

Huang now pops it up again to 36,000

Bellamy folds

Sethi, with what I described to him after was a rush of blood to the head, (and he cannot believe his mistake) shoves

Call

Sethi J-J

Huang A-A (surprise.....)

Q-Q-7-Q-6 board knocks Sethi out

Huang is a monster chip leader

119 runners

Looks like it has made a whopping 22 seats for tomorrow

If you are coming tomorrow, and are not already bought in, get her early to avoid queues, or  buy in through the DTD shop before you leave

Going to be very busy, almost certainly

Julian Thew opens 10-9 suited

Ray Brookshaw three bets Aces

Any guesses how this finishes?

Thew calls "probably technically not the correct call" he concedes after

flop?

7-8-J

Thew gets the lot in on the flop, called and doubles to over 100,000

James Gardner raises to 5,000

Ganesh Bathmanathan shoves in position for 13,000

Adam Picken shoves in the small blind for 19,000

In the big blind, Lee Dixon contemplates his navel and thinks about calling with 9-5. but folds.

While Gardner thinks, Ganesh Bathmanathan steps away from the table and says to me "I have Kings"

He turns back to the table and tells Gardner "Don't worry about me, its him you have to worry about" and points to Picken, looking like an explosion in a wig factory, his mop of black hair covering his face making all attempts at establishing his facial expression moot

Gardner folds

"Oh no, you raise folded?" exclaims Ganesh Bathmanathan

and shows his K-K

Picken A-Q

Kings more than double Ganesh Bathmanathan up on 9-9-4-3-6

Picken down to dust

and we are treated to the trademark "I folded 9-5 I knew I should have called, tomorrow's lottery numbers are..." speech from Dixon

With his red hoodie on, hood raised up and arms folded, the vestiges of a floppy fringe peaking out from the hood he is (every time I walk past) an interested bystander on a quite active table

He's playing about 150,000 at 1200-2400 with about 70 left today

About two and a half levels left to play. Which is wonderful.

Birmingham's Ian Barnett opens in the cut off and South London's finest Watch retailer Danny Toffel 3 bets

Barnett sets him in with Q-Q

Toffel, playing 70,000 calls with A-A

Barnett is playing 250,000

2-10-5-9-Q for the killer river to take Barnett to near 350,000 and a top five stack

Toffel will be back for another stab tomorrow hopefully

Next to Thewy, Kev B has 190,000

Two tables along the dulcet tones of Barry Neville can only mean one thing. He has chips. 240,000 to be precise. Best of luck to Barry, been a while since he's been chipped up deep in one of these.

With 214 of 257 left today and entry still open in Level 6, 250-500 average 36,000

It looks to me that Ben Young is the first stack comfortably over 100,000

How Caicau Huang chipped up

At 150-300, Liam Batey playing 40,000 opened J-J to 650

Huang on the button made it 1400 playing 35,000

Batey 2300

Huang flatted

flop 6-2-3, two hearts

Batey leads for 3,300

Huang 8,400

Batey jams, called by Aces

Aces hold, and Batey was out in the next level

Leveled myself

He turns back to the table and tells Gardner "Don't worry about me, its him you have to worry about" and points to Picken, looking like an explosion in a wig factory, his mop of black hair covering his face making all attempts at establishing his facial expression moot

Can't get this to fit into my signature. Had a great day today, probably played less than 15 hands, so I'm not sure why. Really excited for tomorrow.

Rumour has a Mr. N. Farnaby will be in the building. Also backing Chris Woods to go on a good run tomorrow if he gets half a start. Well, if he gets to bed before the restart!

Mohammed Fassil is Anon on the DTD sheets but has just popped over to say

"Mention me if you like" after I watched a hand

Show off.

He raised and was caled by big blind Andrew Cowl

Q-7-2 rainbow flop

Cowl leads

Fassil raises

Cowl shoves, an overbet

and Fassil snaps him off with Q-4cc

A sheepish Cowl reveals 7-5 off

Q/top pair holds and Fassil is now chip leader with over 500,000

Wadey Ashraf rushes over

"How's my mate with the beard Fassil doing then?"

I elucidate and he profers his opinion

"He's like Linton. Could have anything. Dangerous player"

Doing nicely. top ten stack, maybe top 5

Now sitting next to Thewy

With 15 minutes left, 40 remain

From 264 starters, thats a faster attrition rate than a few recent deepstack 1a's.

Normally 17% get through and already we are down to 15.1%. Geek alert

Jamie Sykes min raises the button to 4,000

Dinarte Araujo De Sousa in the big blind calls

flop  Aspades Qs 9h

check

Sykes 5,500

De Sousa 13,300

Sykes 26,000

De Sousa 60,000

Sykes flats the 4th bet post flop

Sykes starts the hand with 150,000

De Sousa 120,000

De Sousa shoves his last 40,000 on the  6d turn

Sykes folds

De Sousa shows him 6c 5c!

Sykes tells us he had deuces....

That's pretty incredible.

Great updates as always Tighty, missing this one but will hopefully make the pilgrimage next month.

Thewy - how he do that?
Julian Thew opens 10-9 suited

Ray Brookshaw three bets Aces

Any guesses how this finishes?

Thew calls "probably technically not the correct call" he concedes after

flop?

7-8-J

Thew gets the lot in on the flop, called and doubles to over 100,000

<3 Julian.

Top updates Tighty, if you're 'lucky' you might have a full complement from Team Gascoigne this arvo...

Hi Dwayne,

No, I'm afraid not.

I hope you have a great day though, & if you make Day Two - & you WILL (think positive) you'll be able to hook up with Julian Thew.

There were loads of Sky Poker regulars there yesterday, including "Timber", "Dooobs", & "StayOrGo", who holds the remarkable distinction of winning the Thursday Night Main Event on Sky Poker two weeks running in December!

I also shared a Table with one of the nicest lads you could ever wish to meet, who took his beats like a proper bloke should, & we clashed repeatedly all day. His name was Paul Singhal.

I somehow bust his set of Aces with  8c 7c which left him with just 9,000 chips, & the very next hand he busted my  Aspades Ahrt with  9h 9s to double back up.

So, he then asks if he can have my photo. Which is a little embarassing, but still very nice. I pose, he takes the pic, "thank you", "no worries".

"It is for your biggest fan ", he says.

"You are? Wow!"

"No, but my Mum is"".......

Good luck today Dwayne, I'll look out for you on the Update, & I'll ask Tighty to get a photo of you for the Update.

Ta

Have done this before for other events. Yes. Terms and conditions say a seat is registered in your name although it won't show on the website as a listed entry until after the club opens.

Bring a copy of the email (on your 'phone if you like) in case of any issues but yeah it's much easier.

Julian Thew raises K-Q

Ray Brookshaw flats in position

flop J-10-x two clubs

Julian checks

Brookshaw playing 70,000 bets 8,000

Thew playing 170,000 check raises to 25,000

Brookshaw shoves

Thew calls

Brookshaw A-8cc

turn 9 for the Thewy straight

river A for the other end of the Thewy straight

Thewy up to 240,000 with 58 left at 1500-3000, average 136,000

I'm afraid to say that it was I that was on the receiving end of Mr Thew.
