Good luck all blondes and Natalia Breviglieri.

Table 13 will see loads of action. Ali Mallu and Stu Brownson will be play every hand and I expect Rick Whiteley may profit and make a deep run

Good luck all blondes, but best of luck to Tighty.... The road is long...

As for that lookalike? I have had Gary Megson, Fizz from Corrie and Neil Lennon before but not sure about that one. Eso liked it though!

Yes best of luck to everyone who treads these boards.

At least you have what should be two better NFL games to keep you company, Tighty.

A reminder that the final will be live streamed, first from tableside no hole cards 9 handed

then the full schmozzle with hole cards and chip counts etc from 8 handed down to a winner

Unfortunately I can't be in two places at once so the updates will be more sporadic once I go into the comentary booth.

You can catch the live stream later at http://www.dusktilldawncasinonottingham.com/live.php

As usual, if someone can put the major final table hands up on here in the early hours you'll win my special prize. Half an hour with Frankie and no escape because you've positioned yourself with one route to myour chair, and one route out of your chair :-)

Good luck to Linton Reid and all Blondes playing...

£44k seems low for 218k seems more like an online payout structure 22%.. But hey 44k is a lot of money...

Here's a picture of what Linton will be doing next week should he win the tourney...

hi tighty
do u know why they r paying too many people as 727 players  should they pay %10 which is 70 odd rather than 99 and 1 st prize only %22? i find it strange   it s like poker stars paying too many people too little keep more people happy?

Must admit I prefer a 10% payout structure, but this 14% structure is definitely what seems to be preferred at DTD. Maybe it speeds the comp up if there are lots of people who have satellited in and want to make the money?

A first prize north of 50k would have been a great advert for a 300 quidder.

Matt Russell raises UTG with 9-9

Charlie Wates calls on the button

Ian Roberts the loosey Liverpudlian calls in the big blind

flop 9-7-7

Russell leads for 12,000

Wates 31,000

Roberts shoves the big blind covering both

Russell calls, obviously

Wates passes

Roberts 6-7

turn...

...

7

to knock Russell out full house against Quads

Caicau Huang does it again

Opens to 15,000 UTG

Athir Ali 28,000 in the big blind

Caicau 100,000 playing 266,000 4 bet

This can only mean one of two hands, in months and months of watching Ms Huang

Ali shoves, just covering her

So a 540,000 pot for the chiplead, essentially

Ali has 10-10

Caicau Huang does it again

Opens to 15,000 UTG

Athir Ali 28,000 in the big blind

Caicau 100,000 playing 266,000 4 bet

This can only mean one of two hands, in months and months of watching Ms Huang

Ali shoves, just covering her

So a 540,000 pot for the chiplead, essentially

Ali has 10-10

Aces hold on 4-9-4-K-6

The very pleasant Ms Huang high fives her supporting fella....

Next to her Warrior from Gladiators has literally only just stopped shaking his head that 10-10 shoves...

George Bedi opens blind on blind with  Kc 8c into Tom Myland's big

He is called

 Ac Tc 2h flop

Bedi leads, Myland shoves  Ad 7h

Bedi calls

turn  7c to produce the flush, but two pair for Myland...

Outs to the full house, but the river bricks and Bedi doubles to around 550,000

Over 400,000

All steady

Steady is his middle name... interestingly sat next to Miss Agro Tight Huang who beat him heads up for the deepstack win last year. He also had a deep run at Genting Sheffield. Not bad for only a handful of tournaments as he usually plays high stakes cash.

average is 507,000

I gather Bedi lost a big one to Timotheou just before the break, Timo rivering a straight with A-J on Q-10-7-8-9

12    1    Robert Cowen 200,000
12    2    Will Ross-jones 700,000
12    3    Carol Nichols 500,000
12    4    Anthony Martin 300,000
12    5    Mark Mccluskey 600,000
12    6    Martin Henderson 1,000,000
12    7    Renee Xie 1,100,000
12    9    Kaveh Vossoughi 450,000

Presuming this is the Marty I think it is, the guys an absolute hero. Only really just started playing, soaking things up like a sponge and eager to learn. Bust 1A in level 3, only got in level 2! If this guy wins it'll be a hell of a party, in fact, i might be driving back up if he finals!

Kaveh Vossoughi shoves 500,000 with A-10ss and is called by Togyhan with Q-Q

QQ holds to knock him out

Togyhan then knocks out Stuart Brownson while I was talking to one of my favourite dealers. Three days into this slog, you can forgive me not paying attention momentarily faced with such an opportunity

Togyhan has 1.5m in peach chips alone, probably 2m total and is chip leader with 27 left

Meanwhile Justin Devonport shoves 400,000 with Q-Q and unluckiily finds K-K and Neil Ryder behind to knock him out

Here are the latest exits

28    Justin Devonport
29    Dominic Smith
30    Stuart Brownson
31    Kaveh Vossoughi
32    Robert Cowen

34    David Barraclough

Mitch loses a big one to Neil Ryder

He is down to 600,000 with blinds going 25-50,000

Only caught the tail of it but betting a x-x-Q-K-A river Ryder was called, and showed down A-J to win

From the wince on Mitch's face I could only deduce two things

a) The Ace was a very bad river

or

b) The kitchen has run out of burgers.

GL Vik, take it home for Hitchin.

Hi Chili, thinking you were sat to my immediate left in a tourney at DTD last year.

Thanks for the welcome.

Have to say, Celtic, you have an excellent, firm handshake. It was an unexpected moment of joy.

It's difficult personally because I will never of course fully be able to understand how truly special it is for people to meet me.

Little out there competes with an Eso Kral HipHop Handshake tho...

A big rush of action

Martin Henderson raises 8-8 from a 300,000 stack

Paul Grummitt sets him in and he calls off

Grummitt K-K

8 on the turn to double Henderson up

Left with under 200,000 Grummitt shoves A-10 into the A-Q of Anthony Martin and is out

A reminder that the final will be live streamed, first from tableside no hole cards 9 handed

then the full hole cards and chip counts etc from 8 handed down to a winner

Unfortunately I can't be in two places at once so the updates will be more sporadic once I go into the comentary booth.

You can catch the live stream at http://www.dusktilldawncasinonottingham.com/live.php

As usual, if someone can put the major final table hands up on here in the early hours that would terrific, or else I will put up stuff I remember in the breaks

while we are waiting for final - anyone have any suggestions on how we avoid late finishes like this in future, options are;

1. cap runners at the GTE ie. 500 max for £150K, turn people away above the 500
2. 12pm starts day 1 and day 2
3. take out 4-5 levels
4. reduce 40 min clock to 35 mins
5. reduce chips to 20k

etc etc

Cheers Rob

while we are waiting for final - anyone have any suggestions on how we avoid late finishes like this in future, options are;

1. cap runners at the GTE ie. 500 max for £150K, turn people away above the 500
2. 12pm starts day 1 and day 2
3. take out 4-5 levels
4. reduce 40 min clock to 35 mins
5. reduce chips to 20k

etc etc

Cheers Rob

12pm starts

I would say leave day 1's maybe play an extra level and then start at 12 on the Sunday. Shorter breaks would also work. 20 min breaks are too long in my opinion have 5-10 min breaks and that is more than sufficient. I believe the breaks are 20 mins now and there are 4 on day 1? so making these 10 mins long would save 40 mins and would allow for an extra level? Starting at 12 on the Sunday and having shorter breaks mean that even with 700 odd runners it could be finished by 2-3 which in my opinion is not to late

number 1. Has to be a joke??? Do a million £ in overlay then when you get a comp that exceeds the gtd prize you want to limit to the number of runners to just meet the prize.

People love the club as the numbers show this month. I prefer any one of the other 4 suggestions before capping fields.

Any way tighty gets 28 days rest till the next one. :)

The structure for this comp has been fantastic. I'd love to see the 30k and 40 minutes stay for day 1 but possibly not specify the day 2 clock/structure until you know how many total chips are in play.

When you've got your total number of chips just set the clock or remove a few levels so that it'll be finished for whatever time you desire.

The problem with setting anything in stone is that you'll never be sure. Until you know your number of runners you can't possibly begin to accurately set a finish time.

What time do people expect/want a comp like this to finish? Is this month not an exceptional month or is everyone everyone expecting 700+ runners every deepstack!

What kind of time do you "expect" a deepstack to be finishing Tighty?

Personally I hate the 20 minute breaks but I understand completely why they have them.

There's a bunch of dealers working at the place who all need a break as well. No way this can change much at all unless they risk bringing in loads of extras so they can be rotated.

3am latest? Reasonable enough. Most players will have work on a Monday at a £300 buy in level, and yes those who final will have a great payday but they've still got to go to work tomorrow!

Yes its an exceptional month in terms of runners and therefore extremely difficult to fine tune a structure and times in advance

i understand that for the club shorter breaks is a lose lose. It means less time for players on the house games and it also means they need more dealers for roation. But i would love to know how this balances out by saying having extra people in the club.

I'd advocate shortening the stock break to 15mins (leg stretch, phone home, spend a penny) and having an hour dinner break. You only have two roulette tables and a couple of blackjack tables. There are only so many people out of 500 who can get to them to do their brains, no matter how long a break you have :)

any of the above except for taking out levels, would be disastrous.

12 pm start, take out a couple of levels.

Nothing disastrous about taking out 250/500 between 200/400 and 300/600, surely?  I could say the same about 2500/5000, and 25k, 50k.  Save a couple of hours right there.  I don't think you need get rid of any more than those.  They just seem to stick out as superfluous to me.

Dropping from 30k to 20k is only going to save you 40 minutes and isn't worth the moaning.

I wouldn't limit the runners, no point in removing your chance of a good profit.

Probably best to wait to see when it finishes.  Also, February is bound to see a drop off in numbers.

Simplest tweak is keep Day 1a as is, but move Day 1b and Day 2 to 12 o'clock start.

Obviously logistical issues for the club, but that helps the players.

no dinner break please! not needed! If your hungry and dont want to eat in the club pack some sandwiches! hour dinner breaks are also not good for the club as i bet more people will go elsewhere for food.

Im not a fan of the early start on a friday back to the days of work fact. Most people can slope of early on a friday so a 2pm start is not that bad as people can get there by 4-5 if you make it 12 people will therefore need a day of work to play

I think an early start on Fridays would be bad. It worked out ok this month, as a chunk of people were still off work, but normally it wouldn't work so well.
35 minute levels is fine by me. Not ideal, but better than taking levels out.

12 pm start on Saturday, so that you can start earlier Sunday, would probably help.

Rather than change too much though, it's likely that next month (and thereafter) won't be quite as busy as this one - January is a funny month with people off work, desperate to get out the house after 2 weeks of food & drink etc....

Agree, except for the Friday start. As others have said, people can get away from work for the 2pm start, but might struggle for a 12:00 start on the Friday.  Saturday and Sunday can start at 12 o'clock though.

blinds now 40-80k

Break

Average 1.6m

12    1    Gene Lam 700k
12    2    Will Ross-jones 650k
12    4    Anthony Martin 450k
12    6    Martin Henderson 700k
12    8    Martyn Frey 1.7m 2.1m
12    9    Dinarte Araujo De Sousa 1.1m

14    1    Vikrum Mehta 2.4m
14    3    Salim Jangarwala 1.2m
14    4    Anthony Kirkham 1.7m
14    6    Alex Clark 600k
14    7    Hamid Toghyan 6.6k
14    8    Neil Ryder 2m

Mr Toghyan has basically torn a strip off table 12, applying maximum pressure for a level or two. I hardly saw him play a showdown pot! Then, with the last exit... he got moved out of the big blind to the other table

Not a happy bunny at this turn of events, onto a tougher table with more stacks to fight against him with

and as I write

Martin shoves blind 9-2 off

while we are waiting for final - anyone have any suggestions on how we avoid late finishes like this in future, options are;

1. cap runners at the GTE ie. 500 max for £150K, turn people away above the 500
2. 12pm starts day 1 and day 2
3. take out 4-5 levels
4. reduce 40 min clock to 35 mins
5. reduce chips to 20k

etc etc

Cheers Rob

HI rob

First off congrats on the high numbers this weekend, good result just after crimbo. I think a must is to start at 12 pm makes so much sense and to cap the number of players would be such a bad move. As some others have said, shorter breaks could be an idea maybe cut by 5 mins. stack size at 30k is spot on, the levels are really good also. Lets hope the rest of the year will just be as good for dtd ;djinn; Any idea when the next grand prix and chipleader tourneys are going to be anyone?

Yes those electric cigarettes use huge cables to the power outlets.

Electronic ones are the future.

Personally I hate the 20 minute breaks but I understand completely why they have them.

There's a bunch of dealers working at the place who all need a break as well. No way this can change much at all unless they risk bringing in loads of extras so they can be rotated.

Breaks were 15 minutes this time, think they have already dropped from 20.  Am I going mad?

20-20-15-20 right? Or something like that 1A, 1B it certainly had 20 min one first...

The breaks on day 1B were 25 mins (end of level 3), 25 mins (end of level 6) & 30 mins (end of level 8 to change up the 25 chips).  Not sure about after that I went out in level 9 & left the building!  These breaks seemed unnecessarily long, unless they were to accommodate staff breaks required by law.

I wouldn't touch Friday. A working day, earlier start is trickier

Saturday and Sunday, yes, earlier the better.

It does however crucially depend on staffing, rotas, costs etc. Only DTD will know whats possible in that regard

I really wanted to play this but having to be up at 6am put me off. I had visions of a 3am finish and whilst that's prob ok as I'd be getting loads of money I don't feel like only having 1 hours sleep lol.

I think like with this one, a lot of people are under the impression that it's a one-off with a big guarantee, so they make the effort for the first one. I think it's pretty hard to sustain on a monthly basis. I don't doubt Feb will still make the guarantee but slowly decline from the big 727 runners month to month.

How's about moving Day's 1a and 1b to Thursday & Friday with a 4pm start, allowing buy-in's to around 8pm, (fair to those who are working or need to travel say from London), but ensuring an early finish at around 11:30pm/midnight. This way those working Friday won't have too late a night on Thursday. OK, so it will mean a much larger field on the Saturday, (you could easily the start at midday), and finish a sensible time on the Sunday. Would also be good for the Club in that you would have more people on-site over the four days. I agree you could drop the breaks to 15 minutes but would not touch the stacks, clock or the structure. BTW, apologies for the higorance, but where do I find the stream?

Blind levels>clock>starting chips: as far as good structures go. And with the long late reg period, I think starting at 12 on a Saturday shouldn't be a big deal if that gets an earlier finish.

Just put the guarentee to 100k or w/e you think is sustainable and people will come down to try and grab the value out of it once they realise the guarentee is broke every month (even though it seems they are getting value they are actually getting no extra value.) Put on entertainment in the big breaks, I am sure you can get lively bands etc from the local area and area's afar that would love to pay for a few hundred quid to have a possibility of gaining a few hundred more fans. Make it an event to be remembered and people will want to come back and play the event knowing they are going to be playing for above the guarentee and they are enjoying themselves.

Peace out.

hi,

Thx for all the feedback. of course, we dont expect 720 runners for Feb, 500 will do just fine :) but our monthly deepstacks have been generally finishing late since we moved the start time of day 2 to back to 2pm from 12pm, so its not just this deepstack that I was referring to (this move back to 2pm on day 2 was for the benefit of our dealers to get plenty of sleep after working a late night saturday dealing cash games etc). we will have a chat next week and look at the feedback on here.

Few replies to questions on here;

- the next Grand Prix is in mid march
- next Chip Leader will be..erm....ask Nick
- we changed the £300 to £500 as a one off last Jan and we ended up getting into a mess with all the clashes, in 2012 we did £200, £150 and £500, there wasnt a lot of consistancy which was a mistake
- breaks have been reduced accross all comps including the Deepstack, we got caught a little this weekend with the 50% above than planned attendance so the breaks would have been a bit skewed depending on staff
- we only did 1 live sat because many of our regs get irritated when we cancel the normal evening comps, hard to keep every happy
- initially elec cigerettes were banned at DTD and we got LOADS of flack because other venues allowed them, hard to win on this issue

Lets see what time this finishes, we are over the moon with the runners but people that know us will know we want things to be as perfect as possible and a final table starting at 11.30pm is not perfect for anyone, but of course, not a lot needs to change and the world will go on even though we will have a late finish tonight :)

Cheers Rob

Re the start times I agree that day 1B and day 2 should start at 12 noon (may be preferable for some for day 1A to start at 2pm, so could try leaving that alone).  I've never really understood why day 2 can't start earlier anyway.  As someone who travels to DTD and sometimes stays over, it's a real pain having to kill 3 or 4 hours after getting thrown out of the hotel room at 11am!  I always go and sit in a pub or restaurant or something day dreaming about how late it's going to finish!  For those not travelling too far and living locally, surely a 12 noon start isn't too difficult if they can make a 2pm start?

Also I've stopped playing the online satelliites, hate them, terrible structure, 1 rebuy, 1 addon, gets expensive.  Also the feeder tournaments into the satellites only get you your initial buy in.  Puts me off that I'll then potentially need to take a rebuy and an add on.  If you introduce some variety (some nights have the current sats, some nights have a f/o, some nights have an unlimited rebuy) you may attract more people.

Course it makes a difference. Main one being that there's only 14M chips to share between everyone rather than 21M

12pm starts would be terrible for me personally but I understand they're good for most.

The feed table is 8 handed of course...so the commentary table side before that is an attempt to start the stream a bit earlier and catch the first exitof the unoffical final in 9th

Ideally there would be a flop cam above the table (its always table 13) but that might be on the agenda only if its felt it would justify the investment. It probably doesn't tbh, as its used for one exit per month for one event

Ie. £300 / £500 / £1k

With re: structure etc, fine as it is IMO. Only way your getting no sleep is if you win a chunk, and nobody feels sorry for you.

@Doobs

Taking out levels would be really terrible - they make a massive difference definitely aren't superfluous.

Can't see the downside in the 12pm starts. Perhaps 25k starting stack too if that makes a decent difference.

Taking out the levels I suggested is roughly the same as moving to 35 minute levels.  If you are happy with one, you should be happy with the other.

Problem with these choices is that they aren't equivalent.  For instance stating at 20K probably saves less than an hour.  Moving to 12 means the staff have to work just as long, just at a slightly better time.  I don't think the cap will make much difference either.

Now I think about it breaks were possibly 20 mins day 1a, and 15 day 2.  Is that right?  I assume they were longer on 1b because of the bigger numbers.

I'd be happy with 15, but if the club has a reason, and they aren't going to save a load of time by doing it then there isn't much point.  Could they easily lose a break on day 1 though.  There is a colour up break that comes only 2 levels after the last break.  Think it is level 8.  Can't they just leave it until the end of level 9, then they don't need a last break at the end of 14?  I can't remember seeing any big unwieldy stacks at that point.  Will save 20 minutes easy enough.

Anyway, going to be getting off soon, gl those left

With re: structure etc, fine as it is IMO. Only way your getting no sleep is if you win a chunk, and nobody feels sorry for you.

Only joking, well played today Mitch

Right, off to commentary.

Start earlier day 1a and 1b. 2pm fine for day 2.

Open the doors earlier to allow people to buy in with time to spare.

25k stack plenty.

10 min breaks, unless the break times are needed for staff breaks.

Don't bother with a 60 min clock for FT.

I agree with Michelle, the sats are awful.

WP to Mr. Tight one, fantastic updates.

WP DTD yet again, putting on a great comp and listening to it's customers.

Thought on monthly rotation.

Ie. £300 / £500 / £1k

With re: structure etc, fine as it is IMO. Only way your getting no sleep is if you win a chunk, and nobody feels sorry for you.

I think rotation is a good idea, but I would go for £200 / £300 / £500 / £200 / £300 / £1k / £200 / £300 / £500 / £200 / £300 / £1k (you get the idea!)

DTD could also look at introducing the Multi Prize Pool concept into the mix at some point?

Why can't Sunday just start at 10am? Throw in a 1-hour dinner break, saves 3 hours. Not entirely sure why there were 25min breaks on the Saturday either... 10-mins is plenty generally... perhaps with 1 a bit longer so people can grab some food then too.

VBOL to Neil. It's pretty funny that Turk is commentating being as last week, when Turk was nice enough to give me and Neil a lift back from London he said the following words in the heat of a debate, "Yiannis, you are my witness, Neil will never ever win a big tournament, I promise you." It wasn't as nasty as it sounds, it was all good banter in the heat of a debate, I doubt he even believed it himself. But now the sweat is on for jokes.

Unlucky Doobs.  Well played, and nice to meet you (and play on the same table for a brief moment) on Friday.

Good to put faces to names, and was good to meet you and a few others.

Don't know if it was unlucky, I was thinking after, does he ever do that freak raise with AQ and with big stacks behind (he was MP).  But meh.

Would have to fold face down and not tell anyone ever.

Few replies to questions on here;

Cheers Rob

How much will next grand prix be to enter?

Down to 5.

Vikram Mehta raises to 275k in the cut off with  9c 9d

Salim Jangarwara in the BB with only 430k shoves all in with  Qh 9s and gets called.

Board runs out  7c 8h Kc 6c Kh

Which is no help for Salim and leaves in 6th with £6,899

Chip leader Hamid Toghyan raises to 200k on the button with  2c 9s

Neil Ryder who is in the SB wakes up with  Ad Ahrt and just flat calls

On a flop of  Ts Tc 2c  Neil check raises Hamids c-bet of 200k to 625k Hamid then passes.

The very next hand. Neil Ryder on the Button raises to 200k with  5c Ks and spookily the SB  Vikram Mehta wakes up this time with the  Ad Ahrt just like the very last hand. A 3-bet to 515k from Vikram gets a pass from Neil.

Anthony Kirkham on the button raises with  Aspades Kd

Martin frey in the SB flats and when it gets to the Big Blind (chip leader) Hamid Toghyan, he shoves all in with  3d 8h

Kirkham instant calls, Martin folds.

 7d Th 4c

 8d   (oh no)

 Ahrt  (sigh of relief)

Kirkham now Chip leader.

Title: Re: DTD New Year Special £150,000 GTD Deepstack: Day 2
Post by: TopTen on January 07, 2013, 02:04:18 AM
Blinds now 60k/120k 15k ante.

Vikram in the cut off raises to 275k with  2c 2h

Anthony flats on the button with  Aspades 8s

Martin in the SB calls with  Kh Qd

Hamid in the BB also calls with  Ahrt 3h

Flop  Th Jc 2s

Gets checked back round to Vikram who shoves all in for 1.5m after flopping a set. Martin Frey with an open ender and 2 over cards faces a tough decision with approx 3.8m. Martin finds a folds and maybe Vikram is kicking himself now for shoving.

Im not sure how the betting went on in this hand.

Anthony Kirkham on the button holding  8h Kc (assuming he raised)

Martin Frey in the SB is holding  Th 6h

Board runs out  2c 7h 5d 3h Jh

Just catch it as Martin calls an all in bet from Anthony which gets him a double up from the chip leader and now Martin becomes chip leader.

Neil Ryder tanks a little in the SB with  3h 3c before passing.

Vikram Mehta in the BB with  Kh Tc calls.

Martin looks down to  Aspades Qc in the BB and makes it 1.8m which is sufficient to take it down.

Frey and Ryder each playing 8m

Ryder shoves

and is felted, and soon after in 3rd

Heads Up

Frey 18m, Mehta 4m

Mehta oscillated between 3-5m

then went down to 2m with a river call

then called a raise in the big blind with 10-6, against A-K

flop K-10-9

Vik check raised all in and was called

He finished 2nd for £25,000+

A superb performance from a player to watch

Car crash!!!!!

Vikram (short stack) on the button makes it 400k with  4h Kh

Martin in the small blind  Qc Qd makes it 1.4m

Neil in the Big Blind  Jc Jd in fairness, Neil thinks for a while but couldnt find a fold and re-raises all in.

Vikram passes and Martin calls.

 Aspades 2s 3h Tc 9s

Queens hold and this leaves Neil on fumes.

Neil all in on the button with  6d 7c

Vikram calls with  Ac Jh

Martin gets out the way with  7d 8d

Neil fails to hit on a  3s 4d Td Kc 4s board and leaves in 3rd place collecting £15,330

Wd Martyn, played with him a couple of times in last few weeks and seems like a nice bloke. Congrats.

Not really sure what the problem is with a late finish to be honest, but if your gonna change anything, (and this is probably a bit "out there") what about changing the levels but at the start? Say:

30k stack, levels:
50/100/25
100/200/25
150/300/50
200/400/50
300/600/100

And make it so the ante is minimum 1/4 of the sb.
Or something like that. Contrary to seeming popular belief, having antes at the start, and bigger antes throughout, makes a tournament a) play deeper and b) go quicker, which seems like its exactly what were after. This is the way I are all tournaments going, and DTD seems like exactly The sort of place to pioneer this idea. I played a comp ran by 888 in Prague that had 80k stacks and started at 150/300/25, the antes from the start were pretty much unanimously well liked by players from all demographics, and the tournament played deep the whole way through and was still over comfortably in 2 days.

great to see the 300 back, it's def the sweet spot as the numbers prove.

i dislike the idea of rotating buy-ins altho re-introducing the monte carlo once or twice a year would be nice.

in the end, tightys woes aside, the finish line time wasn't too late & hey it's a nice problem to have if you FT.

noon or 1pm starts on saturdays & sundays would be better & it's great to see the 20 min breaks reduced to 15 mins.

dinner breaks are for wimps.

statos early ante suggestion sounds interesting & you could also consider making the first 3 levels 30 mins.

well done to rob, simon & all the DTD gang for putting on a great show,

another great effort from tighty & congrats/wp mr frey & all the the other finalists

Another weekend where DTD was buzzing - hated my poker (in a self-loathing sort of way), loved being there and will always do my best to be in the place for days like that.

I understand that the satellites for this had zero overlay throughout which surely speaks to the popularity of the tournament.

For the future

Play 30mins for first 4 levels
Cut the breaks by 10 minutes each
Add at least one, and possibly two levels to Day 1

Start Day 2 at noon and keep the breaks short

I like the idea of antes from the start as well

Contrary to seeming popular belief, having antes at the start, and bigger antes throughout, makes a tournament a) play deeper and b) go quicker, which seems like its exactly what were after. This is the way I are all tournaments going, and DTD seems like exactly The sort of place to pioneer this idea. I played a comp ran by 888 in Prague that had 80k stacks and started at 150/300/25, the antes from the start were pretty much unanimously well liked by players from all demographics, and the tournament played deep the whole way through and was still over comfortably in 2 days.

Agree with all this

Finished at 4am, I'd like it to finish at 2am at the latest, would have been around that time with 500 runners, possibly just a few tweaks needed then. Well done to Martin Frey, another loyal local DTD regular wins again, pretty amazing how our regulars do so well in the big events :)

Well if all you want is to finish two hours earlier, assuming you wont get more than 727 next month (which seems a fair assumption), starting the final day two hours earlier solves the problem.

Hi Rob firstly congratulations on a spectacular turnout and event.

A question though, why does it matter about it finishing at 2am rather than 4am if the club is still open?

I think if it needs to finish early then start a little earlier, shorten the breaks if possible, and 25k chips. Personally I don't like the idea of antes from the start or 30 min clock
for the first few levels. Collecting antes slows up the game, couple this with a 30 min clock and effectively you have less than a 25min level.

Looking forward to next month. Happy New Year DTD.

Have to say, Celtic, you have an excellent, firm handshake. It was an unexpected moment of joy.

It's difficult personally because I will never of course fully be able to understand how truly special it is for people to meet me.

Little out there competes with an Eso Kral HipHop Handshake tho...
Oh yes only just reading this and catching up and dont forget about the shoulder love too!!

200 posts of opinions, subtle blind changes, chip stack tinkering, level-ectomies and when one visionary chirps up with the solution, everyone criticises him for what they now realise was staring them in the face the whole time.

Great tournament again .. Great updates.
WP DTD .
The place was buzzing, nice to see the 300 back.
I think nothing needs to change if your still at the club at 430
your getting a nice pay day.

Line from Kick Ass?

Wp. I'd love to see how the antes from the start would go. Would hate to be a dealer at a 4 handed table though!

Good point about antesin level1 given the propensity for tournaments to start with only two or three players seated at each table.

Great weekend, really enjoyed the tournament.

I would echo most comments on here - bring forward the start to noon.

Reduce the break time if possible.

Perhaps play one more level on day one.

Why no shuffling machine of FT?  More hands per hour would probably have shaved some time off of the finish...

They don't have one on the tv table but great idea

Maybe use 2 dealers to have a second deck ready? Would also speed things up if they could help counting out stacks for all ins etc.

Possibly get the TD to shuffle a second deck? I assume the TD has to focus on the one comp so there really isn't much left to do once it gets down to the final.

Speeding it up would also make the viewing experience much better.

Hi all, had a great w/end @DTD well played Tighty great updates as usual, really glad to see the £300 d/s back, a well run tourney with massive value and worth the trip down from Glasgow.
All the Glasgow players agree to travel over 600 miles to play this type of game ,as we dont have the luxury of a great club like DTD that puts on massive guarentees up here.

PLEASE do not tamper with the structure as this is the main reason people travel from all over Britain to play this game.

I think £300 buy/in is perfect if we are looking at this being every month.

If its not broke dont try to fix it !!!!

GL to DTD in the future.

Hi.

Really enjoyed the weekend, great tournament, congrats to DTD and well done on the updates here too.  Well worth the trip from Colchester and looking forward to playing there more regularly.

IMO the structure was great, perhaps an earlier start on both days would help stop a silly o'clock finish. 3 am is late enough.  Shuffle machines and an extra pair of hands could also help quicken things up late on.

It was never clarified ITT whether they did actually stick to the original plan and go to a 60 minute clock on the final. 40 minutes all the way seems fine to me.

Herculean effort updating this for three days solo from his tightness.

Simon asked the players at the start of the final if they would mind playing with 40min blinds. 1 person objected so they played with 1hr blinds. When he got eliminated Simon asked the remaining players if they wanted to reduce to 40mins, but I don't think this happened.

So yes they did go to a 1hr clock
