Title: Genting Poker thread: Live and Online
Post by: millidonk on February 19, 2013, 08:40:46 PM
This year's dream team has been assembled and what a team it is! Gooooooooooo MILLIMEN

04 March - 09th May, Mondays and Thursdays at 7.30pm

Was fun last year, highlights include the Ho turning up at our hotel and just trying every door until he found an empty bed then strolling down for breakfast in the morning , meeting Girgles and Leatherman for the first time, seeing Golden's #LoveTheGame tattoo in the flesh, incred bants, but the best bit was defo being sat next to balticblonde on the FT.

Many blondes doing it again this year? Sheffield this time apparently.

Mate, get 15 bottles of bulmers in me and I run tournaments over for fun. Back to back live FTs those 2 weeks. Now I've got liver problems and have stopped drinking I struggle to make it past the first break. Lost my killer instinct! We had a player dropout last year so had no chance of getting enough points to go to Vegas. This year I am pretty sure we are a lock to win it if nobody drops out. Got a sick mix of online pros and live beasts, plus we have Eso for the bants.

Get off jobseekers and you could probably afford to play too mate. :)

We have £36,000 in the prize-pool already, with late registration still open until around 9.15pm, and re-buys now an option here at the Cromwell Mint Poker Casino.

That option has been taken up by Albert Sapiano, who got as far as 'calling for his car' before deciding a second bullet was worth loading into his blunderbuss!   He's back in and on the newly-formed Table 4.  In a row, we have the following four players:

Danny Laming, Sam Patel, Joe Laming and Albert Sapiano.  That's a combination scientifically proven to build pots and provide great drama.

Elsewhere, on the feature table, you've probably just seen Romano Pizzo get going in a big pot.  There is incredible action in the next twenty-five minutes on the feature, you simply have to tune in!

Champion Busted!

Patryk Slusarek will not be retaining his title.  He got involved with a low hand of 5-6 pre-flop, and inside must have been grinning when the flop came 5-6-4.  That's when the chips went in - and unfortunately for Patryk, his opponent had played even lower small-ball with 2-3 and had flopped the straight.  Our February champion had the re-draw to the full house of course, but missed any of the four remaining 5's and 6's on turn and river and heads home.

There will be a new name on The Hendon Mob by morning... but who's will it be?  We'll be bringing you a full chip-count by the break in just fifteen minutes.  Craig Sweden just won a large pot on Table 1, where he and Marvin Bubel are hoarding plenty of chips.  Danny Laming has upped the level on Table 4, and is raking in small pots, while Chaz Chattha took a bit hit to his stack just now on the feature table after his Q-Q was all-in and covering his enemy's stack with A-T.  the flop came A-A-4 (mildly disastrous for Chaz), with the turn bringing a queen!...and the river a TEN for the triple suckout.  8k and a dream at 100/200 for the Hit Squad legend...

It's break-time here at the Genting Poker Big Game, so let's bring you some chip-counts from favourites out there in the main tournament room!

From players with millions in tournament results to qualifiers from this afternoons' satellite qualifier, there's something for everyone:

Chip-counts:

Marvin Bubel (Chip Leader) - 52,075
Rahim Tadj-Saadat - 40,800
Katie Swift (only female player) - 31,000
Sunny Chattha - 25,000
Danny Laming - 20,850
Steve Watts - 20,750
Sam Patel - 20,350
Craig Sweden - 19,425
Mat Frankland - 18,125
Joe Laming - 13,575
Albert Sapiano - 9,100
Chaz Chattha - 7,350
Romano Pizzo - 5,100

For anyone watching the live streamed feature table, Mat Frankland in Seat 6 has elected not to show his hole cards this evening.  We know some of you might notify us to let us know about any problems with the live stream, rest assured that there aren't any and its a personal choice.  It's actually a great chance for any upcoming players to try to work out what Mat's playing in each hand and 'sweat' along with a top pro, so if you're watching, why not try it?

Joe Laming Swiftly Eliminated!

Team Duffy, man down!! Yes, January's winner Joe Laming has busted the Genting Poker Big Game as he lost the lot to the only female player in the room.

Gentleman Joe, who took down January's Big Game for £12,000 was heads-up with Katie Swift from pre-flop, holding K-Q.  He continued aggression on the harmless flop of 9-6-3 and the turn came an ace.  Again, Joe led out and got a flat call from Katie.  On the river, a king fell to now give him second pair.  He jammed 'for value', before Swift made the decision after tanking for a minute and a half or so.

Eventually, she called it off:

Katie - A-J
Danny - K-Q

That was enough to total Joe's stack, and as he put it 'she can maybe call a little quicker on the river if she's made that decision to call on the turn, but she played the hand really well, I thought.'

What do you think?

Check out the LIVE stream, with some of the best players in the competition still involved!

Steve Watts (top left in the cap) is joined by Mat Frankland, Danny Laming, Chaz Chattha and Katie Swift as the action is red hot!

There's no doubt we've landed a prime feature table tonight so take advantage of it, get some free poker lessons and watch someone win big money...

Rob Swindells (swinebag22) also in team, so a decent team IMO, he will be captaining.

Team Duffy busts Team Duffy!

Stevie Watts has busted the Genting Poker Big Game after Danny Laming got the better of him in a limped pot.  Steve held QQ, an enemy who was 'raising every hand' according to everyone who was on the table with him didn't do so, flat-calling.... and Danny made it up from the blinds.

Flop: J-7-3.

That's when the money went in, and after the enemy dodged the mine, Danny called off Steve's 12k shove with... 7-3!

Laming leaps up the ladder, while Watts waves goodbye before the money - unlucky, Steve.

Is this our winner?  He'll certainly feel he can make a run from anywhere, and even though he's stacked at around 25k right now, Nik Persuad can make hero folds, big calls, he's got the game for absolute sure.  While he's having the life massaged out of those shoulders on Table 2, we've come down to just 18 players, with Nik sharing table oxygen with Abi Khaitan, Sunny Chattha, Guy Bowles, table leader Marvin Bubel, Sam Patel and Mike Ellis.  That's a tough table to escape!

Elsewhere, you can check out the feature table, where the following players will be in action in just a few minutes for your entertainment - Katie Swift, Danny Laming, Craig Sweden, Rahim Tadj-Saadat and Mat Frankland among others.

Five make money, with the winner taking £16,200 - who's YOUR money on from here?

A Swift Exit

Katie Swift has bubbled the final table!  The longest lasting female (also the first female to bust) made it all the way to 10th place but it isn;t good enough for a cash - that starts at 5th.

Katie called a raise from Kamal Choraria pre-flop with K-Q and saw the flop of T-J-Q.  That's when the chips went in, but she was in bad shape...

Katie Swift - K-Q
Kamal Choraria - A-K

Her opponent had flopped 'Broadway' and busts her in 10th.  Players are gathering at the final table, chip-counts going into nine-handed final table play next!

Sunny Chattha BUST in 8th place.

Sunny had been grinding a short stack for some time, finally getting it in with K-3.  Nik Persuad called the 17,000 shove in the next seat, but incredibly, Jason Gilbert open-folded pocket TENS in mid-position.  Nik flipped A-K and held to eliminate sunny, but the first card out of the deck was a ten.  Jason Gilbert just missed the opportunity he might have to wait a very long time for again.

Nik Persuad has gone form short-stack grinding a massage to second in chips behind Guy Bowles and enjoying a cheese 'n' ham toastie.  Apparently, Nik plans on playing the opening flight of the UKIPT here in London...

"...after I've won this, obviously."

Obviously.

Danny Laming BUBBLES the Big Game!

After Danny Laming raised, Nik Persuad and the young Team Duffy star were all-in and Laming was at risk, holding Ah Qx.  Persuad had pocket tens, and it was a classic coin-flip.

The first card out of the deck was the ten of hearts, giving Nik trips, but two more hearts tumbled out directly after, meaning Laming had two cards to the nut flush draw.  Sadly for him, he bricked them both and he finishes in 6th place for nothing but a pat on the back for a hard evening's work.  Truth be told, Laming was one of the best players here, and can definitely consider himself not to be fighting for the higher pay-outs round about now.

Congratulations to NIK PERSUAD, who wins the March Genting Poker Big Game!

After much discussion, players were able to agree on a deal when four-way with an 'approximate ICM' deal leaving the final pay-outs looking like this:

1st - Nik Persuad.... £10,000
2nd - Guy Bowles..... £8,400
3rd - Carl Spicer...... £8,400
4th - Craig Sweden.. £8,400
5th - Jason Gilbert.... £1,800

Thanks to all of you for your input, likes, comments and contributions! We'll have a full write-up for you later and until then, huge respect to Nik Persuad, who was short-stacked with a dozen players remaining but played some superb poker to grind back up and then take control of the final table. Well played, sir!

Sure will let me deposit on encore. Sure are agents available on live chat. This mob has gone down hill ever since Greeky got on board.

The day of the 1st event is by far the busiest night for support of the year. Extra people were working because of it but with the network problems that were going on we had like 100 people trying to access live chat at some points and unfortunately wait times were higher than they should be

If you still have deposit problems pm me and I can sort or can player transfer you. I see from your later post you might not need to anymore but feel free to message me if ever you do

I think its worth mentioning to anyone that has $ accounts, that their account will be closed and a new one opened in ££. As this meant that my old account was no longer registered to play in LVTC and I would have to wait 48hrs for my new one to be activated for lvtc. If i had been informed of this beforehand obv I would have got it sorted in time instead of waiting til 7.15pm to login and deposit..

Anyway, all sorted now. The network issues were actually a bit of rungood for me personally. Imagine you don't feel the same though..

All people with USD$ accounts have been emailed a few times to ask them to change over but you're right, an additional sweep before the LVTC would have been a good idea and saved us all a bit of running around late in the day.

Glad you got sorted and that someone saw a benefit from last night :D

As a general rule, you cannot undo a self-exclusion ever.

Only if you asked to be self excluded for a set amount of time. If it was a permanent request nothing can be done as the company would be in breach of its license to do so - sorry

Exactly that.

I also hold the view that a Business CANNOT reduce the period of a SE. If you SE for, say, 12 months, 12 months it is, no argument.

It works like that for a reason.

I may of course be wrong, or intepreting it incorrectly, but that is my very clear understanding.

See my previous post, Paul.

It is done to protect the Client, so when we self-exclude, we FIRST ought to be mindful of the consequences, & remember that WE, the individual, are ultimately responsible for our own actions.

I am not trying to do Karl out of a Client, I hasten to add, but if I am correct, it serves as a warning to anyone who Self-Excludes.

There's nothing special that I can do really - when did the 6 moths start? When it's up I can help you sort the formalities of getting back in, but I can't help reduce it to a lesser term

It seems as if there was more problems last night for LVTC. People was registered for the event, who did not manually register themselves & a few sit outs somehow got into the small points. Along with this, our own team had problems registering.

They told us we can register at 5pm

Still unable too.

Then at half past 6 they tell me it will all be sorted by 7pm.

Still unable too.

Finally got there late on and had to go over my personal details with online advisiors.

I am hoping that todays messed up problems do not have an effect on what happened in earlier tourney as I shipped it :D :D

Lobby is however getting more and more annoying as it doesn't give you true details :( :(

Title: Re: Genting Poker thread: Live and Online

"snide?"

snide
/snīd/
Adjective

Derogatory or mocking in an indirect way: "snide remarks".
(of a person) Devious and underhanded.

much of the facebook tweaking of my tail this week by you would be more accurately described as such.

Genting and DTD have partnerred which means we can talk all the Genting Poker stuff on here

They've requested one thread for all their stuff

- LVTC
- GPS
- Big Game etc

so people know where to go to find it all

For example, GPS Newcastle next week can be covered on this thread

Title: Re: Genting Poker thread: Live and Online
Post by: millidonk on March 15, 2013, 12:32:09 PM
Sighs, using dictionary definitions against someone as defenseless as me. Yea snide probably wasn't the best word to use tbh, although it is a great word in general. It did feel kind of feel a bit sneaky though, It felt almost as if I knocked up a thread for us to all lolabout and chat about LVTC stuff all light heartedly and then it got crowbarred into all things genting. Like waking up to find out the roll your wife is dipping into her soup is the very same roll you were planning to chuck a tonne of bacon in..

Other forums directly linked with genting seem to have their own LVTC thread? so it does seem a bit weird.

Apologies for flicking your tail on facebook, I just miss herbie so damn much. When I was a kid I was always well behaved and polite then I made a new friend and next thing you know I am nicking porn mags and kinder eggs, he is that friend! Hope you know I mean no harm. #<3Tightamous

I'm with you here big Dave.

If we are going to having all Genting stuff here, then people are going to miss stuff because this thread will end up hundreds of pages long, therefore people will not want to read through all pages to find out about Genting X event!

Thought this would have been good to discuss a yearly online/live event for banter, etc.

Paul,

the minimum you can self exclude yourself for is 6 months, and you cant under any circumstances make this shorter

after the 6 months you will have to speak to the general manager, and it is their decision whether they feel you are ok to enter the casino again

Genting do own Circus, but the Circus brand and skin is still in operation at the moment. Probably won't be too much longer until it's migrated over to the Genting skin, but until then an account on Circus will be separate to one on Genting.

Gl Fett, tried to watch the feed yesterday but seemingly my circus login is no use(could have sworn they bought them) and I need to register a genting account. Clearly that is far too much bother so keep the tweets up

From Genting FB page:

Gabrielle Genting
Errrrrrrrr.. Wow....

Raise, 3 bet,call... Flop K-4-J.. 2 diamonds.... Bet, 3 bet, call..... Turn a 7, bringing 2 flush draws now.....

Bet, 3 bet, I'm all in....... Tank call by Seun Oluwole.....Turns over KQ diamonds....... Jonathan Gill flips K-7 spades.....

Still able to hit any diamond and a queen, Seun isn't out of it... But a 4 of clubs on the river send a shocked Seun to the rail....

We now have a big chip leader in the name of Jonathan Gill, who sits in seat 1 while his 2.3 million chips are in seats 1 and 2!!!!

Ellie raises TT, Wadey peels AJo in position. She checks T84r Wadey bets, she puts her head in her hands and calls.

T on the turn, she checks. Wadey bets again. She now has her hands over her eyes, looking very distressed. Sighing, leaning back, the full works.

Then she minraises :D

Wadey sees this as weak, and reraises! Leaving himself just 4 big blinds!

After a very long tank, Ellie goes allin and Wadey finds the fold...

She's chip leader now...

Jon still going strong 3/9.

Here at Genting Newcastle we've got a very decent game on the 28th of this month, 2 pm start, one day game.

£100 (+£12) with an optional £50 re-buy or add-on, £12500 GTD in the prize pool. 8000 chips + 8000 chips.

This is the third time we've ran this game, first time the prize pool was £23000, second time it was £19500.

Should finish around 1 am, so not too late to drive home.

Cheers, Buzz

I like the GPS but having just studied the payout structure I doubt  I will play anymore. You have to finish in the top 5% just to double your money. The min cash barely covers expenses.

I place more emphasis on better value when looking for events now.

good move  raff I always think in any tournament lasting more than a day min cash SHOULD BE DUBBLE THE BYE IN TO COVER COST TRAVEL HOTLE EXT.

this makes it less top heavy but generates more winners

The more top heavy the better regardless of how frustrating it is to be in for 2x 3x 4x and get 1.5x back.

Play to make money and for fun, not to pay for the hotel and Mcdonalds.

I can see the argument for a top heavy payout structure, however most players will not win tournaments very often or even final table many so by having a slightly flatter payout structure more players benefit.

I am not in favour of 20% of the field cashing but having 10 to 12% cash and making it worth while gives players more incentive to play the event. More players = bigger prize pools.

Event organisers want a big headline figure for the winner and that's understandable but players do notice when they battle through a large field to finish deep only to receive a tiny payout.

Some events have a huge jump between first and second place. Scaling back first place would allow the min cashes to be increased and therefore more worthwhile.

It will be great if the GPS payout structure is tweaked because its a first class tournament in every other aspect.

Post by: aaron1867 on April 09, 2013, 02:57:14 AM
I think there are slight tweaks to be made at both Genting and DTD for the biggies.

I think DTD pay just a few too many and I am not sure £33k was enough for 1st in a 150gte? Of course nice, but was expecting it to be £35k at least imo.

Genting min cash (as I previously did say) should be made a lot higher.

Don't know if it' been mentioned on here already but some changes have been made to both blind structures and payout structures ahead of next week's Sheffield leg

Cliffs:

- out goes 25/50 in comes 250/500 and 2500/5000
- Antes made a bit more aggressive
- min cash is now at least double the initial buy in
- Final table payouts more top heavy

Hope to see some of you next week

25k/60 mins

Blinds will finish at exactly the same point on day 1, just the amount of "play" has been increased later in the day rather than at the start. Starting stack is still 250bb

sounds like a good adjustment to the structure.

Quick question - if i reg online for one of the day 1s and am late (will be rushing from work at lunchtime), will my stack be in play or will it be "held back" like they do at DTD for people registering online?

Quick question - if i reg online for one of the day 1s and am late (will be rushing from work at lunchtime), will my stack be in play or will it be "held back" like they do at DTD for people registering online?

I'm pretty sure the answer to this is that they will be in play from the start. If you have an online token to use though you can register with it at the venue. Just see Raf or one of the guys and they will point you in the direction of Dave Williams who can sort it for you once you get there

Here at Genting Newcastle, It's the 4th installment of our fantastic £12,500 GTD £100 (+12) with an optional £50 rebuy or add-on. The first 3 pots have been £23k, £17.5k and £18k. Not bad at all for a local game finished in one day!! The last time we did this monitored the structure later on and added a few more levels to make sure there was still plenty of play at the business end, but that it didn't drag on too late for those working the next day, it was chopped around 1.15am 4 ways last time.

Sunday 30th of June.
2pm start
4 x 30 min levels of late reg and re-entries.
25 minutes thereafter.
8000 + 8000 chips.

Any questions, don't hesitate to ask!!

Haven't seen a thread here on it and know there is a crossover of players on here and THMF so thought I would post the following.  Looking about 5k so far in Tourney $ they have reneged on.  Totally unprofessional as No consultation with The Mob and as for the PR this will generate in the online world of poker I think it is a massive boo boo here by them.

Quote from: Genting James
Hi all, my name is James Lowe' and I have recently taken over as Poker Manager at Genting Poker.

Unfortunately my first post is not great news!

Genting Poker has decided to stop the Hendon Mob Tournament $ scheme with immediate effect. The VIP scheme available on Genting Poker offers excellent value for all players and all players signed up with Genting Poker will have this scheme available to them.  If you have not already used them, the Genting Points can be exchanged for cash or online tournament buy-ins.

This does mean that any points you have accrued and not used are no longer valid. Look out for the new Genting VIP scheme currently being planned to go live in July 2013.

Posted by James on THMF

Dear All,

First Off, I wish to apologies for the confusion my earlier post (and introduction to THM) has caused. This was a genuine mistake on my part.

To clarify:-

1. Your Hendon Mob $’s accrued to 14.06.2013 remains redeemable.

2. However, any play on Genting Poker from that date will not accrue Hendon Mob $. You will, however, continue to earn Genting Poker points which are redeemable as per the standard Genting Poker VIP scheme.

I will update you shortly with more details on redeeming your HM $. Please can you ensure your email addresses on your Genting Poker accounts are up to date, so we can also email these details.

Finally, and again, my sincere apologies for the confusion I have caused. I hope the above clarifies my initial announcement. For those who are regular visitors to GPS Main Events, I’m sure you’ll find me at a future one!

Many thanks

James

No way in the world this can be misscommunicated or misconstrued.

The fact that others could not use them after the initial announcement and the fact he has been on THMF several times yesterday and noticed what was being posted here there and everywhere it is obvious they have backtracked.  Someone who works in a capacity like his knows all about brand promotion as well as protection and he has done neither here.

I for one will not be stepping inside one of their establishments now, not after The Fox debacle too

The fact live support had already confirmed to a couple of HM players that their current balance was no longer valid also  kind of defeats any attempt at a backtrack.

The stops on Rob's GPS Nottingham Bounty tour of Genting venues have been updated

So far great turn outs, great atmospheres, and added value on offer

Not played poker for a few years now but decided I would get out a bit more for 2014.

I note that my part of the country is still ignored by these events(South West), even after all these years.

Do us Wurzels and carrot crunchers have no Gentings round here?

There are gentings at Plymouth, Torquay and Bristol

http://www.gentingcasinos.co.uk/findermap/

With the exception of a couple of GUKPTs a while back in Plymouth, I am not aware than any tour has headed West of Bristol.

I like the sound of the sizzler and if I was fit I would of thought about going but then knocked it back due to the prize including seats if they were added seats fair enough.

It's a 4.5 hour drive south to Edinburgh would require 2 nights over night stay, Newcastle would require at least 3 nights over night stay and taking a train just not feasible

Finishing 4th or 5th instead of coming back up north with a few notes in pocket would have just covered costs maybe paid some expenses to Newcastle aswell
I really don't like this trend of including seats in the prize money I know it's popular but surely for players it's better to get the cash so we can spend it how we want.
