Title: WPT Marbella + Monte Carlo
Post by: pleno1 on March 12, 2013, 09:40:04 AM
Hi,

My name is Patrick Leonard and I would like to sell 40% of my action in 2 of the best value tournaments of the year.

I have recently sold 2 packages on Blonde (back to back Sundays) I paid out promptly in boh, final tabling the 100r on Ongame and coming 35th in the Sunday Million in the other package for a small loss. I am predominatly a mid stakes cash game player on Microgaming but have been playing more and more tournaments over the last 12 months. I'm very comfortable playing live and will be taking 10 holidays from my job so will be taking very serious.

Last year I sold a package for the WPT Marbella and although I lost the majority of my stack with AA V 66 on A66 I managed to win a side event which recuperated a lot of the money.

WPT Marbella April 11th Buy in is €1650

For those of you unaware of Spanish players they are highly emotional and erratic, which for good structured tournaments is a bad mixture. The structure is very good WPT National style. I expect the tournament to be incredibly soft especially as

1) Monte Carlo is the week after so lots won't travel
2) EPT Berlin is around same time so lots wont travel
3) There are lots of satalites
4) This motley crew probably won't be there:

Monte Carlo Thursday 18th - Sunday 21st April Monte Carlo is £500,000 guaranteed and the buy in is £1100

I would imagine that there are a lot of satalite players in the Monte Carlo, the structure is the same as the EPT grand final in Monte Carlo I believe so very good structure meaning I will be playing deep-stacked for long periods of time that suits my game.

Both tournaments are re-entries, but it would be stupid of me not to re-enter if I bust either as I will still be there and still, imo, +ev. I don't believe in punting off equity so if we have 7bbs on day 1a then we will have 7bbs on day 2 :)

I want to sell 35% at 1.2601 for all 4 tournaments. If I make day 2 in day 1a then I will of course send back day 1b with the added markup.

I will convert the WPT to pounds for simplicity.

WPT Day 1a - £1440
WPT Day 1b - £1440

Monte Day 1a - £1100
Monte Day 1b - £1100

If you just want action for  the day 1a's.

5% =  £160
10% = £320

Alternatively if you want to have action of both then:

5%  =  £320 (round down)
10% = £640 (rounded down)

I accept the folliowing, Stars (Pads1161), Tilt (Pads1161) Moneybookers £ (PM) Moneybookers  € (PM) Bank (PM) Cash in hand.

I will play no matter how much I sell but want to receive all of the money first.

2.5% of all 4.  I have assumed we are only re-entering on day 1B.  I am assuming I am not paying 1.26 for you to reenter with 20 BBs late on day 1a.  If I have misunderstood, then put me down for 1a only.

I'm selling 35% total. I think this means I am sold out now for the day1a's and have 7.5% remaining for day 1bs? Basically sold out for both day 1s.

Somebody confirm the maths?  :)

Title: Re: WPT Marbella + Monte Carlo
Post by: pleno1 on March 12, 2013, 08:26:46 PM
alright, confirmed by those who are wise :P

So I have sold out the initial day 1's and have 7.5% left of the day 1b's,

I realize this might not be attractive, so I will sell an extra 7.5% of the second package, meaning I sell 42.5% total in day 1a and 35% in day 1b.

37k on dinner break grinder fkn hard. Keys wa son direct left and folded to his two 3bets vs me.

Made a really sick bluff.

Tug opens to 425, regfish flats mp1 I 3bet T7s  to 1400 tug flats.

Flop is k35ddd I bet 1600 he calls

Turn is 9d

He checks I bet 2900 he makes it 7300 and I make it 11,700 he tank folds but was always going to fold.

Hero folded kt on kxxx and as on q89 and hero called couple times correctly.

Moved to a new table now no reads. Tomorrows blinds are 400/800 coming in so anything 15k+ is fine.

Couple interesting hands vs Steve watts who is now 2 to. My left.

Hand 1/

Mp 2500, I go 7300 from bu, Steve 4b to 17300 from big and I 28,200 and he folds (I got ace ten)

Hand 2

Mp opens 3300 I flat jj from the hijac, Steve 3bets from. Btn I decide to flat and we check down and he has queens.

Got just North of 100k at 800/1600/200 72 left 27 pay, table is tough but I've adjusted we'll and playing v tight and waiting for v good spots.

Bulldozed to 100k again blinds going to 2k/4k 500 ante. Vamps Brazilian who won Sunday million few weeks ago opens 100% when folded to him, Steve watts has lots of patter with a 150k stack and James Mitchell playing very well. The three fish to my right and sharks to my left.

40 left, 27pay

Alright, little trip report.

I don't remember Day 1a too much, I think i played pretty well/solid making a couple of decentish hero folds and generally trying to stay out of trouble.

I doubled up pretty early with AA vs a Spanish fish who got it in with QQ. I then proceeded to make, what I assume and still stand by to be a very very good bluff, but was bad timing and he called.

There was a villain who kept bet, bet, betting vs me, I called him down 3 streets 3 times and he rivered 2 pair twice and had 2 pair vs my AJ on Jxxxxx, which was slightly annoying.

I had became v friendly with a guy called Ronnie on my right, Skandanavian, a little older but still good player, I spoke a lot to him and 3b bluff him a lot pre flop, I was pretty sure he was getting fed up and would 4bet soon.

I opened K6hh into his Big Blind from EP when there was good table dynamics for it (everybody folding a lot behind) he defended and we saw a QTJhhh flop, he c/r me and bet turn and river, I didn't go broke but it left me short when usually I would have doubled to 2x average. He had Ah 5h.

Couple orbits later, mp opens, loose/passive co calls and I cram my big blind for (I think) 15+ big blinds, mp re jams and his AJ beats my 44.

On to Day 1b.

Title: Re: WPT Marbella + Monte Carlo
Post by: pleno1 on April 15, 2013, 01:44:46 AM
Day 1b

My day 1b table was good, I had Keys to my direct left, but rest of table was pretty nice, I would say my starting tables had minimum 5 very weak players on it and I either ran v well in that regard, or Spanish plays are just all bad, I would suggest the latter and it also gives me the motivation to grind more of the Spanish tour and will look to do so moving forwad.

I played pretty tight most of the day, there was a hand where I got c/r and insta folded AA on Q8x and the guy flipped Q8. Next orbit I cbet KT on K42 and c/f on the 7 turn and he shows me KQ, so I felt I was really locked in.

A Danish guy moved to my table and was playing HYPER aggro, I was watching "The Social Network" on my iPad and tyring to stay out of trouble and was playing tight, wathcing him bulldoze witha huge suicide sign on his forhead. He opened UTG to 400, mp1 flats and I squeeze mp2 to 1700, he peels. Flop is K65ddd he checks, we bet 2100, he calls. Turn is 9d, he checks, we bet 3200, he makes it 7900 and we make it 12,300 out of a 21k stack, he thinks for a few minutes and folds.  ;applause;

I then open UTG to 1k at 200/400, BTN flats, SB (huge huge huge whale) makes it 5k, we have like 23k or something, so I make it 10,200, he calls. We have KK and flop is k92, he checks and I bet 2k trying to induce something spazzy, he calls, turn is ace, he checks and I obviously check behind and he folds to my river bet claiming he had 87s lol.

Table gets broke and I move to a new table.

I recognise a few of the guys and know them to be weak tight, there was 2 hours left of the day and I went into aggresive mode looking to accumulate vs these guys who were yawning a lot lol. I span the 35k up to 98k to come back to day 2. Vamos.

Title: Re: WPT Marbella + Monte Carlo

Day 2

Coming back on Day 2 I knew the blinds were 400/800 and I had 98k which was around double average, a little bit more infact. I came back and my table ALL had over 90k and they were all very very aggressive.

Long story short. There is a guy who absolutely hates me because of something personal which happened, on day 1b I saw him in the restaurant and he sat next to me, by accident lol,  said "Hey dude, how are you?" he looked at me in the eyes for around 10 seconds (LONG TIME!) and then looked away, I was abit creeped out, anyway I came to the table on day 2 and he was on my direct left with 175k!!

For the whole of the day I only had better than 55 once (I'll write about it) and never better than AT (apart from once which I will write), for 8 hours on a hyper aggressive table that is very hard.

I slowly chipped down, but with great structure and my stack very healthy, everything was fine.

Our "friend" went from 175, to 160, to 150, to 140, to 130, bluffing and bluffing.

I opened Kh Qh in the cut off and he 3bet me in the button, we have like 85 bigs and I made a instinct decision to just fold. Next hand I open Kh Qh (YES SAME HAND :D) and he 3bets me again, I just let him have it again.  One orbit later and I opened AQ, he 3bet me and I folded, I ust figured this guy would definitely double me if I get a big hand and I don't want to play OOP + without initiative where he will always put me at risk for my stack.

In the past I loved it, calling down, being a fkn hero, but I really just grinded a lot for the majority of the tournament, which leads us nicely to our next hand....

Steve Watts moved into my direct left, around 10 hands in of his stint mp opens to 2500, I 3bet to 7300 OTB, and Steve makes it 17,800 from the small, I had around 90k and made it 28,200 and he took about 7 minutes and folded.

I then basically chipped down just folding for the next 4 hours, in the last 2 levels before the end of the day I opened AK and our "friend" shoved AQ, I got him and it felt nice :) I now had 30 big blinds and could relax a little bit.

Going into the last level I knew we weren't going to make the money, I had a flight at 10am the next day and my hotel ran out as well. I was pretty card dead, when I say that I mean no premiums, I had t9ss, 76hh, j9hh and 54cc and folded them all pre when previously I'm pretty sure I would have r/f them but I wanted to protect my stack for a bigger double and more f/e on the bubble.

Going into the last 3 hands of the night I had 72k, average was 140 and second shortest was 90kish going into a new level of 2500/5000 the next day. UTG a tight, Dutch guy opened to 2.5x off around 23 bigs and I really thought that he had a strong range here as he would expect a lot of this table to 3bet him a lot as everybody was ballistic, I had 55 in the co and made what is probably an easy fold, but in the circumstances I assume most would have jammed.

Meaning I came back to day 3, without a flight or hotel and 15 bigs and a dream!

Day 3

Coming back to day 3, I always figured it would be pretty hard, I came back to see Flushy was on my direct left with 500k (ft average) and I had in my opinion, the best player in the torunament 2 to my left, whilst Steve Watts and 2 good Russians were to my right and opening a lot.

We went from 30 to 29 pretty quickly, 29 to 28 (bubble lasted a longer time) I had an interesting hand.

UTG opens, MP, CO and BTN calls and we have 66 in the small blind with 15 bigs, SO much dead money and huge ante's but I felt it was a fold with the Russians likely having 77-99 a lot and also UTG was playing pretty snug at this point and hadn't shown down anything yet. I decided to make a fold, which could potentially be bad, and I would always jam previously but here I felt fold was best.

I got a 12bb jam through UTG w/QJo 7 handed.

We got to the pure bubble and I was probably 27/28. I got a shove through BTN vs MP w/AKss and had 17 bigs.

It folded round to my SB and I had KJo with Flushy with around 600k in the big. If I opened I felt he was jamming a lot, If I limp, he is jamming, folding seems terrible, so I piled. He had A5 and tanked for a couple of minutes, I gave him the speech of "Blonde wants you to fold" :P and he replied  that his fans would be very happy if he bubbled me :(

Anyway, he folded and we made the money.

In the money around 3 hands in I was in the CO and had 14 bigs, I looked at the Ad and jammed, bb called with Kd Qd and I looked at the other one which was the Ah :P and we doubled.

We stole the blinds a couple of times and then 3bet/folded once when it was folded to us in the cut  off with 95k at 4k/8k/1k 9 handed, I jammed and SB re-jammed.

I had TT and he had 99, he turned a 9 and it was gg us :(

We made a pay jump bubble of 3200€ and I was pretty devved to get gg'd. I don;t get much time to play live tournaments so when I do I really like to get into them, there was 19 left when I busted and had a good feel of how everything was, if I could have won that 220k pot or whatever it was I would have been in contention, as it is I'm just another min cash and still haven't got that breakthrough cash yet.

I would love to pay everybody in Nottingham in £ or € so please let me know if you will be there.

I'm looking forward to going there next week and hope to meet as many of you guys as possible. Hopefully I can get us a deep run.

Couldn't disagree more on your reads on the other players, that guy on my left was pretty poor. Just bad nit who occasionally goes beserk in the most obvious spots.

The two Russians were dire, the one at the other end of the table to us just opens about 50% and never does anything when 3b. The other Russian was lolbad, he took so many spazzy lines for absolute no reason he was one of the softest players in the field.

Played with him on all of day 2/he's a well known coach/ renowned as one of best Portuguese MTT players. He played something like 45/30 for all of day 2 but said he was card dead yesterday. he recently won super Tuesday/Sunday million and few other stuff and really impresse on day 2 although admittedly he was v tight yesterday.

With the Russians try were opening quite a lot, Russian 1 r/f cs a 11bb (with big ante) jam and Russian 2 4b jammed and showed a 4 so they were definitely not nitty.

Russian 1 rejamed 3 times with a6/kq/k9 and last hand before end of day 2 rejamed 150bigs and showed a 9.
Wast trying to say the ruskskis we're great they just weren't going to fold a lot so I could jam co/btn and were going to put pressure on if I raised/3b.

As ever with aggro players it's variance on how well you run in terms of how good hands you have, of you have a heater then sure it's great to have all hear dolts but when you're card dead 7 handed with 15 bigs it's gonna be pretty tough.

Anyway nice playing and ul.

I think portuguese players are actually really good and probably ahead of the curve right now. Ofc there are lots of spazzes but that's the same as in the UK. But their best players are really staying ahead of te curve and play v v well.

Alright so yesterday was a fun day.

Starting table was 4 recs on the right and reggy guys on the left.

Hand 1

Blinds, 50/100 - mp opens I 3b hj w/qq he peels. Flop q87dd he c/calls 1200 - turn he c/r 2300 -4900 I thought he was pretty nutted here so I decided to jam to get max value from his strong hands as he probably peels 77 to flop 3b and finds a fold on 10 or so combos on the river. Maybe even more, he folds tho, wev.

I play very tight now getting reads on table, building image and being card dead.

Hand 2

Huge fish 4x he usually 6x so I was happy calling jqcc - flop j98 ssc I bet 1500 into 5k and button makes it 3500 I call. Turn is ts I check and he checks back. River is jx I check and he bets 4k. So we have 4k to win 5k+ 7k + 4k. I figured he bets this size with qx more than he does with 88/99 so I call, but was wrong and he had 88 although he still bets qx like this otr so think its perfectly fine, even though ts ugly.

Grind up a little bit more winning a lot of pots pre flop and post flop. Hand which kinda shows my attitude

Hand 3

I've been v v v lag isoing fish with about 38% range and he limps again, I make it 1200 and bb makes it 2500 I'm in position but have q5dd but jut let him have it, it should probably be a call and anybody who knows me knows I love playing post flop, but here I just had instinct to fold despite insane price as had v good feel of table and was happy to keep chipping up

Hand 4

I have around 60ish k - I open to 1400 and be peels flop is 852 and he jams something like  15k I obv call and he has a weird played t8 and rivers a t. No problems though.

We go back to grinding again and get a nice spot

Hand 5 - we open to 1400 - mp peels fish we've been aggro vs jams, we call aq for 22bbs and he has a2 and doesn't improve

Per carry on grinding putting pressure on post and pre flop winning. Lot of smaller pots. When we get to probably the worst hand I played all day although you guys may think its fine

Hand 6

We open TT to 1400. Guy who I got a pm about being v good calls button. We flop jc td 4d and bet 1900, we have v v aggro dynamic and he thinks I'm v out of line, I've 4bet previously vs him with a3s. He makes it 4200 and I tank make it 13,200. He calls. Turn is 2h and I bet 15100 and he calls, river I have about 25k left and pot must be around 65 and I decided to jam np but in hindsight I think check is best as he doesn't have that many jx and probably has a combo draw and hands that do call my jam likely just stick it in themselves otr when we check

We carry on grinding I can't really remember any exact spots here but chipped up a decent amount from r/stealing and 3betting a couple of people on my table and we have 145k with a level to go

Hand 7

Utg who wanted to make day 2 and was folding a lot to 3bets and chefs opens to 2500, i make it 7300 on the button w/j7ss, bb then jams around about 30ish from the bb. Utg folds and I try to t dealer to show me the pot, asking him to drag in the calls but he fails to do so, I won't to know if its 28 or 32 basically trying to work the maths out. After 2 minutes of dealer not getting it right I t clock called on me and told "you're either good or your not" I give him the orly stare ad then end up folding, it was super super close but was happy folding.

We go back tomorrow with 133k and hoping for a good table draw.

Good fold mate, I mean in MTTs sometimes you can't let the maths dictate so much - stack preservation > math in that spot IMO. It's not even like you have to call off to protect your image of being a maniac and not wanting people to fuck with you by showing them you call it off light as its the last level and tables are redrawn going into day 2.

Good luck today man.
