Perhaps not with names, as it can affect play knowing who has/hasn't got one, but we'll see Title: Re: DTD £100,000 Grand Prix: Day 2/Final Post by: semtex on March 17, 2013, 09:06:00 AM Looking forward to playing today, after a bad beat in Didsbury can now focus on laddering at my local.... without wishing to be too sycophantic this event and Guarantee typifies DTD, they are good to their customers. On a personal level I'm looking forward to the rest of the Deepstacks this year, the APAT championships at Easter, The Monte Carlo and now the ISPT..... how often will you get a realistic shot at winning 1 million Euros?? Played 2 hands.
First, raised mid-position with AJ, got a call behind and another from BB. J74 flop, BB checks, I lead for 1/3 pot, player to left calls, BB raises. I pass, late position shoves, BB calls with J9, up against set of 4s which holds. Turn was an A so I probably go broke if I see it. Then cut off raises my BB which I peel with J10 suited. Flop is 10 high. I decide to check and shove to his C-bet but he calls with Q10 and holds. Sean Randall, the £500,000 DTD event winner last year has 700,000 at 8-16k BorntoBubble has 450,000 and moved next to Raggy Clarke who has 250,000 and has just 3 bet shove on the button over a BorntoB open, who passed Hotdog and Pete the Bandit both making steady progress, 500,000+ each, sitting side by side like a Brummie Stadler and Waldorf chuntering at the world around them Yeahman has 800-900k on one of the top tables Steve Holden going well on George Bedi's table. Both well above average Tom Somerville up over 1m, on a table with Sweetman, Tom Hall and Steve F. Richard Norfolk hasn't blasted off his chips yet, but I am on spew watch Ricky Cross over 1m Rowney still a comfortable chip leader 1.8m Spaniard Riega has dusted some off, now under 1m Remaining 59 all guaranteed £300 Average is 530,000 Its a break at the end of this level. 9 handed Rowney raised, shortstack Cross shoved and in the big blind Armeni found AA Rowney playing 2.8m made what I fet was a questionable call of two shoves with 7-7 and found Cross with 10-10 The board ran out J-Q-4-A-K to treble Cross up and knock out Armeni 9th Rowney himself then fell 8th before Hodson found AA UTG. Unfortunately for G2L he had KK. Hodson playing 5.7m, Bedi 4.5m An unavoidable pre-flop cooler to knock George out 7th Six handed Hodson had 11m of the 31m in play Tibor Kover fell 6th and then another key hand Norfolk raised AQcc UTG and Cross called with 33 in the small blind Fieldhouse made it 1.4m from 3.5m in the bb with 10-10 Norfolk shoved on him, covering Fieldhouse 3 bet folded leaving himself 20x bb, mistakenly we felt on commentary His opportunity was lost and he was out 5th next level 4 handed another key pot Hodson playing 12m, Norfolk 8m, Eggleston the tightest player 5m and Cross 2m Hodson raised K8dd UTG In commentary we were taking ICM and not taking on the chip leader in Norfolk's spot Payous were 20k, 13k, 8k, 5k He three bet 7-7 in the big blind Hodson called flop 7-5-4 two diamonds and they get it in for a 16m pot Top set held and Norfolk took a big chip lead Cross fell fourth, and Hodson was unlucky, key hand AQ losing to A5 b-o-b v Eggleston Heads up they began 90x bb deep at 3.30am and I feared a long one Both played quite passively, and chips went back and forth for an hour Then, Eggleston raised A-5 on the button and Norfolk called with 4-3 A-5-Q flop Norfolk check called 7 turn giving Norfolk the double belly buster He check raised all in, two pair called and held to give Eggleston the win Afterwards Norfolk told me he was knackered by then, had little experience of Heads Up and regretted pushing This time, when he did, Eggleston had a hand to call him with flopped two pair Title: Re: DTD £100,000 Grand Prix: Day 2/Final Post by: TightEnd on March 18, 2013, 12:20:52 PM Finally I need to thank cambridgealex

UL G2L, all that work hey,nm wp Think he is talking the 77 at the final table 4 handed vs chip leader. I think it was min raised, and 77 was 3 bet out of the BB. There can't ever be an error in calling pre, but there is an argument you shouldn't 3 bet because of the ICM considerations. It can't be very bad vs this villian? From what I recall, he didn't look the type to 3 barrel and put him in a world of pain. Villian didn't do much wrong either, the min raise pre was fine, he is big chip leader after all. Flush draw and overs is fairly hard to put down for the villian, by the time (or if) you realise you are in deep trouble, the chips are either all in, or you are priced in to call anyway. This is particularly true when you have a gazillion chips and you should be piling on some pressure. It would be difficult to claim they both played that questionably, and it looked very much like the chips were going in when you saw a 743dd flop. George clearly unlucky. speaking my mind spoke to him on the breaks and seemed a nice enough guy sinking those red bulls and running around ;sark; but on the table was somehow different and i know a few players next to me told me the same, he came across arrogant and a little bit ego, all wanting him to secretly crash out lol (can i say this lol ), I KNOW PEOPLE WANTED THAT lol. but still he was ONE of the most fun entertaining players there in final 25 i thought, crazy donk play at times but if it was all abc how boring would it be Title: Re: DTD £100,000 Grand Prix: Day 2/Final Post by: YEAHMAN123 on March 18, 2013, 03:50:50 PM tighty have to agree 77 before final table in that position with the way it was played was bad, very bad and bedi was so unlucky hodson didnt make the most of his stack off bedi though, chasing that flush was questionable against the guy that could of hurt you the most you think?? Assuming I did the plays for a ''thrill'' is totally wrong. Dont get me wrong i'm an inexperienced tournament player with a lot to learn especially in the final stages of the game. Again my ''crazy donk play'' were all justified in my head and I got it wrong, we all make mistakes, just depends how costly that mistake is. There was a few mistakes made by myself in the final stages, I was very exhausted and to be fair my head was battered. Coming across as slightly ego and arrogant is all part of my game but at the same time im all for banter and having a laugh. And ABC poker is boring, you want to see 4betting, triple barrelling etc etc. You dont wana see AA v KK every hand all in pre. It gets tedious. Pokers meant to be fun, but each to their own. Well played to everyone by the way. Title: Re: DTD £100,000 Grand Prix: Day 2/Final Post by: hotdog on March 18, 2013, 06:38:51 PM well in my opinion it is bad, i see what your saying but if two guys are putting there chips in the middle at that stage then your 77 is just no good simples but we all have that decision to make at some point, and i understand he's also got chips already in, but... let it go. thats what his game was about though, he did these plays for the thrill i think speaking my mind spoke to him on the breaks and seemed a nice enough guy sinking those red bulls and running around ;sark; but on the table was somehow different and i know a few players next to me told me the same, he came across arrogant and a little bit ego, all wanting him to secretly crash out lol (can i say this lol ), I KNOW PEOPLE WANTED THAT lol. but still he was ONE of the most fun entertaining players there in final 25 i thought, crazy donk play at times but if it was all abc how boring would it be I played with this guy on the first day for a few hours, just before the final and obviously the final. Very RAW is the term i would use for him. Nice lad off the table but think he got a little bit excited. as for people saying they wanted him gone, i was not one of those, I had already doubled up of him on day one and i love players like him that create major action . Assuming I did the plays for a ''thrill'' is totally wrong. Dont get me wrong i'm an inexperienced tournament player with a lot to learn especially in the final stages of the game. Let's face it, 8th is a pretty awesome result and you must've got a lot more right over the weekend than you got wrong. I've also got to agree with Hotdog that you certainly livened up our table on day 1 (I think I even told you something along those lines at the time) and I for one enjoyed every minute of it. I'd rather play with a James Rowney over a monosyllabic automaton any day of the week. Vive la différence, congratulations on the great score (the first of many I'm sure) and welcome to Blonde. :hello: Title: Re: DTD £100,000 Grand Prix: Day 2/Final Post by: YEAHMAN123 on March 18, 2013, 08:59:04 PM well in my opinion it is bad, i see what your saying but if two guys are putting there chips in the middle at that stage then your 77 is just no good simples but we all have that decision to make at some point, and i understand he's also got chips already in, but... let it go. thats what his game was about though, he did these plays for the thrill i think speaking my mind spoke to him on the breaks and seemed a nice enough guy sinking those red bulls and running around ;sark; but on the table was somehow different and i know a few players next to me told me the same, he came across arrogant and a little bit ego, all wanting him to secretly crash out lol (can i say this lol ), I KNOW PEOPLE WANTED THAT lol. but still he was ONE of the most fun entertaining players there in final 25 i thought, crazy donk play at times but if it was all abc how boring would it be Looking back the 77 hand, yes it was a fold all day long, but i had my reasons and justifications to why I called the two shoves, along with all my plays during the day. Yes i think remember your face. Yeah 66 v AA hand was killer but the 77 hand was the hand that ruined my tournament. But hey 1 crucial mistake is all it takes. Ill learn and improve next time. ================================================================================================ I don't think you need to justify yourself in the slightest mate. Poker is meant to be fun and even though looking from the outside there is alot of thought behind why i make each play. Thanks and yes I'm very much due one. Been close to 5 figure scores and 6 figure scores a few times now and I know it will come eventually. It may have been a 5 figure score if i'd have found a fold with the 77 but hey theres going to be plenty more chances. ======================================================================================================== Welcome to Blonde, don't let Latif nip you for too much of your winnings.
