Early action has seen blonde's own Ray "Mondatoo" Norton dodge a massive bullet!

Firstly, as I popped over to say hi, Ray was calling an 800 flop bet from Jean-Bernard Bot on a 4h Jh 5d flop. They both then checked the 7c turn and Qd river, with Ray's Ac 5c enough to take the 3k pot.

As he was stacking the chips, Ray was in the SB and called a late position 450 raise from Chris Wicher. They went heads up to the Qh Ad 8h flop and Ray then check-raised Wicher's 750 c-bet to 1775. Wicher thought for a bit and then just called.

The turn was the Qd and Ray quickly bet 2700. Wicher again called and it was on the 9s river where things went mental. Ray went to bet again and counted out 4 chips. One was black, 2 were yellow and one was blue orange.

Orange? Oops...

Ray visibly started as he knew straight away he had put the wrong denomination chip in. It was therefore 27,100 to call and Wicher, weirdly, looked visibly pained! It appeared that he hadn't seen Ray's reaction to the bet and was wondering why mondatoo had made a massive overbet on the river. Thankfully for our hero (and his backers), Wicher passed and tapped the table.

Mondatoo? He just raked the chips in with a grimace on his face and a quick conversation between us saw him admit "yeah, it should have been 7100!!"

Alex Goulder takes down a pot. After some dispute over a pre flop raise (I'm not quite sure what happened) in the SB he is 3 bet to 1700.
He check calls 1500 on a 7h 5h 4d flop. Same move on the turn of  Tc . The River card comes  Kh. After a sigh his opponent folds to Alex's river bet. Discussion between the two ensues.

Not sure of the action but I'm confident I just saw Frankie show a Full house 9's full of Jacks. His opponent flips over quad Jacks and declares 'You have 9's I go all in with 9's.' Frankie lets out a small smile and responds with 'You check, I bet, then call an all in.'

Title: Re: ISPT Wembley Day2b

Lots of small pots so far and lots of chatter...

No, this isn't the entirety of the Beckham room, this is just Frankie's table. He spots me as he is in a hand and calls me over:

"Write this down, yes, you, the English *points at one of our Spanish colleagues* and make sure you write this down as well! I want this in Portuguese as well". Naturally, I did, and the flop was 6h Td Kd and Frankie has checked to a player whose name has not yet appeared on our player list. Mateyboy bets 600 and Frankie calls.

The turn is the 3d and Frankie is relentless with the speech play, but checks again. His wary opponent checks behind and the river is the 7d. Frankie again checks and his opponent checks behind. Neither have a diamond and Frankie's Jh Ts is good, but there has to be one last comment as he tells Mateyboy "If you bet I fold". Mateyboy just grins ruefully and says "yeah, I know!"

Pete Linton qualified last night with a ridiculous 190k stack. Today he's found himself on the same table as Liz Lieu and is already up over 230k after "I called a raise with QT and the flop was QT3 all spades. I got paid off when I rivered a Ten and somehow the guy over there (Nuno Miguel Campos Antunes) flats me with AK spades".

Tom Langley @MtSpewmore Managed to get the A4 v A9 on A49A3ccc and somehow not go broke. 30k #ISPT

Nick Jenkins @nickjenkins01 started on 52k now on 72k with the help of a set of jacks #ISPT

Ben Jenkins @TFPbenj Re-entered, made a set, up to 70k and a much better table today #ispt

Guy Johnson @outragous76 Flop a set from sb  vs mr active! River quads and he somehow finds ck ck for the first time today! Sigh #ISPT #blondepoker

Approaching the first break of the day and 408 in so far, 727 total

We are over-spilling 10 tables into the Pele Room too..

Here are the exits so far

398    Matthew Rosenberg
399    Carlo Cantone
400    Steve Krosby
401    Hugh Black
402    Patricia Almeras
403    Dorin Rauta
404    Allan Peers
405    Sunil Mistri
406    Thomas Mcmanus
407    Prapatsorn Srinamueang
408    Domonic Cugudda

All the names you'd expect to direct buy in are here, except those in Vegas.

All the DTD regs you'd expect to see are here.

Problem is, and accounting for the vast majority of the numbers shortfall compared to what is required, is that the "grass roots" of poker pubs, poker clubs, home games etc have very little presence here, and indeed didn't in the Online satellites/feeders either.

'Frankies Back.'
After his 9's cooler Frankie and Tom Langley chop a big pot. The pot is opened for 1175 on  9s 7h Jh Frankie 3 bets to 2800 which Tom flats. Seat two (sat between TL and Frankie) 4 bets to 7700. Frankie shoves for 36K as does Tom with 31. After much thought seat two calls and shows a set of Jacks, Frankie shows  8d Ts and Tom likewise with  8c Tc . The turn and river play out  Kc  4d. Tom rakes his pot quietly, while Frankie declares that he indeed is back.

Just before the break I saw John Murray call a raise from Mateyboy on the button, and the blinds followed along. It was checked to Mateyboy on the 5h Kd Jh and he bet 1400. Murray and the BB Luigi Cocita called and we went 3-way to the 3d turn. Mateyboy bet 4500 and Murray folded, flashing me his cards. Cocita called and the river was the Aspades. Mateyboy bet 11,900 and Cocita passed.

Murray's hand? Guesses? (I will check that he is happy for me to post it first)

If you buy in at the end of level 8 then theoretically you would have 52,700 in play at 600/1200-200 for an hour.

First blind level tomorrow is 800/1600-200 I believe, and we're checking if people can buy in very very late tonight if they are not here but can get here for tomorrow.

Ok great and how far would we be off the money (about) could come and play a couple of side events too I guess.

170 of 319 made it through yesterday

410 so far today

so currently 729, and 365 would be paid (50% of field paid)

So that 729 will rise, lets say it ends the day at 750 (800?)

375 paid at 750

roughly 240+170 would be through making 410 through so quite close

allow for guessowrk on my part please

Just before the break I saw John Murray call a raise from Mateyboy on the button, and the blinds followed along. It was checked to Mateyboy on the 5h Kd Jh and he bet 1400. Murray and the BB Luigi Cocita called and we went 3-way to the 3d turn. Mateyboy bet 4500 and Murray folded, flashing me his cards. Cocita called and the river was the Aspades. Mateyboy bet 11,900 and Cocita passed.

Murray's hand? Guesses? (I will check that he is happy for me to post it first)

Murray has  Kd Td

Dominic Kay called a raise on the button from Philippe Narboni preflop and James "Raggy" Clarke also joined in from the BB.

The 3 of them saw a 4s 7s Th flop and it was checked to Dom who bet 825. Raggy called and Narboni passed.

The turn was the 8s and both players checked. The river brought the 2c and Raggy bet out 1550. Dom counted out the chips and looked like he was going to call, but folded with a wry smile.

Whenever I walk past table 25 Mitch Johnson is involved in a pot with seat 6. Mitch calls a river bet on  8d 3d 7c  6s  Jd and shows  7s 8s and is good.
At the same time Simon Deadman, check calls 1200 on  Ac 8s  5h against Thomas High (? apologies if names are wrong I'm going from the seat chart) Simon then check calls 2800 on  Ad turn. The river is  4s and Simon checks again, this time a bet of 7100 see's Simon fold after some time tanking.

Ask and ye shall receive...well, on mondatoo anyway.

He called me over to tell me that he called a raise on the button from his old foe Chris Wicher holding Kh Qs. Wicher then proceeded to party like it was 1999 bet, bet, bet - firstly for 1150 on the Qd Th 5c flop, then 1850 on the Qh turn, and finally 6200 on the 2s river. Mondatoo was not to be denied, however, and just called, called, called and now has 60k.

Albert Sapiano raises to 1100 UTG at 150-300

David Gent calls

On the button Alan Mansbridge calls

In the small blind Praz Banzi makes it 3,600

Sapiano passes

Gent passes

Sapiano "this bloody squeezer, bullying the table all over the place"

Mansbridge passes

Banzi peaks at the corners of his cards, so I can see

"Is it ok to post that Praz?"

"Yeah"

Sapiano "I knew you had Aces!"

Praz?

Jamie Sykes just knocked out one of his table opponents who hate Jacks.

Despite hating Jacks, the gentleman liked his 9-9 enough to shove over the top of a Sykes raise. Sykes called with A-Khh and was good on the 6-T-2-A-6 board, despite commenting "I never win these" when he missed the flop!

Peter Linton is back over 200k after he played a hand with Luke Hallinan where Linton check-raised Luke's 900 bet to 220 on a 2s 9c 4c flop, then led for 5000 on the 3s turn and 12000 on the 5h river. Hallinan called down and was dismayed to be shown Ahrt 6h for the second nut straight before he mucked what this roving reporter thinks was probably the wheel.

420 so far making 739 total

Late reg til 10pm

SNGs running on demand

Around a €580,000 overlay currently..the like of which I think (and sincerely hope) the UK poker scene and DTD especially will never see again. A one off event that DTD have done wonders with, but nonetheless a nasty overlay.

Pretty annoyed I got here on time but on table with late regs-still feeling good and buzzing bout playing on Wembley football pitch!

Drool very drool. Is he still in and if what's his stack like

He has chips...

He flatted a raise from Michael Maruna preflop holding Ahrt Qh and they saw Neil Raine flat from the button, mateyboy flat the small blind and mondatoo was obliged to flick it in from the bb.

The flop was perfect for the man from Luton - Kh 5h 4h. Maruna led for 3k and Das just called. Everyone else got out of the way pretty quickly!

The turn wasn't the best though, the 8h putting 4 hearts on the board. Maruna then checked, and Das bet out 4k. Maruna just called.

The river was the blank of all blanks for this board, the Qc. Maruna then led for 6k. Das, with a flopped nut flush, naturally made it 16k. You have to believe he is ahead? Well, Maruna then moves all in for 38k!! Das snapped his hand off, insta-calling.

Oops. Maruna had 7h 6h for the straight flush!

Das is down to 20k.

There's surely gong to be a deal on this FT unless some complete sicko gets there.

The only way there might not be is if you get a Trickett or a Benjamine finalling, where the money is comparatively unimportant and they might think the dynamics of the situation could see them bully the heck out of recreational players who have made it that far

I think deals can only be discussed once final table is hit? Otherwise I suspect it might be earlier than that even.

As has been said Simon Trumper has undertaken to oversee any deal discussions and ensure fairness.

We'll find out on Wednesday.

James Akenhead is chugging away over on Table 47.

He just took down a small pot after 3-betting S Sandhu's raise of 1600 UTG to 3800. Terry Cameron then called from the big blind and Sandhu passed.

Cameron then inexplicably checked blind before the dealer dealt the Aspades Jd 2s flop. James casually bet 4k and Cameron snap-folded.

Akenhead is up over 50k I believe...

Before the break though, Toby Lewis raised it to 1500 preflop and was called by Georgios Doumas in the BB. They saw a flop of 8d Th 2d and Doumas check-called a bet of 2,000. Both players then checked the Tc turn and Doumas fired out a chunky 3600 bet on the 3c river. Lewis sigh-called and Doumas didn't want to show, but was forced to show first and resignedly turned over Kc Jd.

Which was good as Lewis flashed Kd 9d before mucking!

Slowly grinding as it seems everyone wanted to make the break without busting. Paul Jenkinson looks short but his 1300 C bet on  2c 6c Kc gets through.

Slighlty larger pot from Mitch Johnson where he raises to 1500, is 3 bet to 3K. He 4 bets to 7100 and thats the end of that.

Didn't see any decent pots in the 20 minute build up to the dinner break.

Just before the break Adebayo Otetyinbo raised to 1800 and got 3 callers. All 4 players checked the Jh 6h 4h flop and when Adebayo bet the 8h turn, he got 2 callers in Farhad Afshin and Chris Hatten. The river was the 7d and all players checked.

A pretty disastrous board for Adebayo it turns out, as he had 8d 8c for a set of 8's. Afshin mucked and Chris actually held 4d 4c for a set of 4's! Both players were left shaking their heads, but for entirely different reasons.

Pete Linton is still the chip leader with around 300,000

Say hello to Pete everyone, he is voraciously reading the updates

He says that he had a dream table earlier, but the alst couple of levels he has become shorter of cards and the line up has become tougher. For example James Akenhead is now on his table

He tells me that seat draw is pretty crucial in this, with such a wide disparity in players, nationalities and buy-in expertise

Crucial, he says, is the Day three seat draw as we look like starting tomorrow only 20-30 places off the money and the opportunity to chip up there is very important....

As we finished chatting, Akenhead raised, the button called and Linton called in the big blind

6s 4d Ts

Linton checks

Akenhead 3,000 into 6,000

the button 7,000

Linton check raise to 15,000 and gets two folds

So he now has over 330,000 again....

Easy game. On a board of  8d 5c 9h 4c 4d Michael Mizrachi is heads up. His opponents move on the river? Open fold. Dealer asks Mizrachi to 'show his hand' to win the pot. Michael smiles and responds: 'What happens if I don't show?' As he shows his hand the general chit chat seems to point towards calling the floor should the hand not be shown.

Title: Re: ISPT Wembley Day2b
Post by: KarmaDope on June 01, 2013, 08:39:56 PM
Martins Adeniya was in an interesting hand just before his table broke.

I joined the hand with the board showing 8c 8s Th and Mo Muse had bet 5400. Martins and Mo were heads up and Martins casually chucked in the call. They went to the 9s turn and Mo checked. Martins bet 9700 and Mo grimaced but called.

It was on the river that things got nasty. An innocuous 3h saw Mo check again. Martins had 32k back and this was about the size of the pot, so he moved all in. Mo went into the tank for what seriously only felt like 90 seconds to me, and during this one of the floormen came over to break the table. Suddenly, Martial Blangenwitsch in seat 7 called for the clock! Mo was visibly upset and glared at him before rolling his cards over to flash 2 paint cards which were black suits, and folded face down. As the dealer went to take the cards into the muck, Martial flew up and made the dealer show Mo's hand (Qs Qc) to the table, claiming the "show one, show all" rule!

Thankfully the table broke after that hand otherwise tempers may have boiled over!

Roberto Romanello is having fun over on table 21. He just called a late position raise to 1600 from mateyboy and Eugen Fritzler joined them to give us 3 way action on a flop of Kd 2h Ts. The action wilted from then on as all 3 players checked before the blood got pumping again on the Ks turn. Roberto checked and Eugen bet 2200. Mateyboy called and Roberto check-raised to 5200. This was enough for both opponents to give up their claim on the pot and Roberto raked in the chips.

James Akenhead raises

Liz Lieu 4 bets

At the far end of the table Linton beckons me over

Akenhead passes

Hallinan shoves for about 50,000 over the 8,000 4 bet

Lieu tanks

Linton whispers to me "Kings"

I arch an eyebrow and reply sotto voce "Queens"

After all, she is tanking

Linton then lowers his voice another octave "nah, she's nitty. Kings"

Five minutes later Lieu calls

Hallinan Queens

Lieu Kings

the board

This is Liz's expression when Linton sits down and asks her

"Why did you take so long?"

Michael Mizrachi is down to about 15xbb after in the last couple of levels, he keeps losing all ins to shortstacks.

His most recent one saw Paul Jenkinson get back up to 35k when Paul's A-J was good on a 5-6-8-8-K board which we assume was all in preflop.

Craig Goldsmith is on 77k.

If you want to be Tighty's protégé, you're going to need to tell us what he looks like, what he's wearing, whether he reminds you of a minor celebrity and would it kill you to add a bit of Latin?!

He is has brown hair, I can't tell how tall he is as he is sat down...He is wearing a musty coloured hoodie and is sporting what looks like an Ipod shuffle on the table. He resembles no minor celebrity (which is probably a good thing) et tua est Latine. (and there is your Latin)  :)up

An he used to play professional football for Peterborough utd  then Carlisle in the 80s ? But never made it to wembley until today , so he was highly delighted to do so today

We've worked out that we are 80 metres above the pitch

We reckon total trips per day to amount to 1800, up only

So thats 5400 metres to day 4, when I think the tournament moves inside to the same level as us

So in summary, we are each climbing Mount Chacaltaya in the Andes, Bolivia to be exact, over days 2a,2b and 3

Cool, but the calves are burning a bit

So, this is all subject to official confirmation

442 entries today

319 yesterday

761 entries total at €2700 for a prize pool of €2054700

20% for first is €410940

€1000000 is GTD for first place so €589060 will be added

Half the 761 entries will be paid so 381

170 of 319 made it through yesterday

Around 240 will make it through this final level

So c410 will come back, 381 paid a minimum of €540, so the bubble will break early tomorrow afternoon

I will put the full payout up when received, probably tomorrow

I was chatting to a short stacked Damon Hill John Murray when I noticed a hand developing on his table. Mateyboy had raised it up to 2600 at 600/1200-200 and Ben Vinson had called, along with Sebastien Bouvron from the BB. They saw a Ad 4s 3c flop and Bouvron checked. Mateyboy bet 3700 and Ben was the only caller. Heads-up, the dealer burned and turned the 8d and Mateyboy led for 6700. Again, Ben called.

The river was the 6d and Mateyboy fired the 3rd barrel - 11700. Ben went into the tank but eventually decided just to call. Both men showed the same hand. A-Q.

Didnt somebody say they counted 90 steps between the pitch and the press room? Can just envision you hauling yourself up ~1m steps all day long tighty!

Excellent updates Rich & team. Shame about the overlay, but agree with you that had they had longer to promote it, honestly think it would make the gtd 1st prize.

Fantastic effort nonetheless, wp to Rob, Simon, Nicola & team.

Best of luck to all the blondes. Also best of luck to Dale Garrad?(not sure if he's still in), & James and Praz gogogo

Gutted for Rob and Simon if they have to pick up this overlay. No one could have done so much so quick to achieve what they did. I am on a friggin cruise ship in the Adriatic and so wanted to be there. :-)
Part of me thinks an event like this is a ' build" thing with it probably taking several years before it becomes a ' must attend' on the circuit.Whether that will ever happen is probably unlikely now I guess. Clashing with Vegas has not helped obviously.
Good luck to the Tall One from Nottingham and all the other Blondes.

          Much love from Slovakia.

Gutted too for DTD.......given 6 months lead time, no doubt they would have got there with time to spare.

Fantastic unique experience yesterday and,had a fun table mix, including Germans, French and a very loose South African  :)

Brilliant organisation of course....shame it wasn't to be for me, but the very best of luck to all blondes going back today.

I thought this last night - if I had been in a position to be affected by it, I just couldn't accept €500k straight out of Rob's pocket. There are probably many other UK players who feel the same. Obv, random foreigners could probably care less.

Plenty of time for post mortems. I'd be amazed if yesterday's numbers hadn't been anticipated long in advance.

Terrific shame but I'm sure, when the dust has settled, DTD will come out of this favourably.

It is with some regret that I start this piece. It is Sunday 2nd June and poker may have climbed into its death bed in the UK. Tragically over the weekend DTD, have apparently, lost almost 600,000 Euros on the ISPT poker event. Two years in the planning “the ISPT” is a great idea but perhaps a little ambitious in its conception and the clash with the WSOP is very difficult.

I want to question the DTD losses 589,060€, none of my business I know, but how can they carry on making these sort of losses? With almost 250K towards paying for the event perhaps the ISPT losses will be reduced so they can carry on with further events? I think, despite the reduced turnout for the event, that London Wembley was the right choice for the kick off event. Perhaps when the final figures are analysed and the online returns dissected losses can be put more into perspective.

There is no doubt that DTD is an incredibly brave organisation and 100% committed to poker in the UK, I for one will certainly be trying to support them even more through 2013 and beyond, they have rapidly become the true heart of poker in Europe.

Watching the event live there is an amazing echo / atmosphere in the Igloo / tents. Tighty looks like he’s feeling the heat but getting on with an admirable job as usual.

DtD didn't have to get involved in this venture; they chose to get involved and they chose to embrace the risks that came with it: a never-before-tried stadium tournament with huge overheads, no major online site offering satellites, a clash with the start of the WSOP etc. Sorry if this sounds callous, but I can't feel too much sympathy for them. They knew what they were getting in to and they didn't have to go anywhere near it if they didn't want to. They obviously had deep enough pockets to be able to cover the losses if and when the tournament didn't reach it's guarantee.
I do however wonder if  this year's loss is part of a long term genius business plan where the tournament becomes an annual, must-play event for the biggest names and biggest field in world poker and where the ongoing  annual profit for DtD eclipses this year's loss.
