Hi my name is Patrick Leonard and I want to live my dream in Vegas this year and do it with your help with the goal of making us all 9 million dollars.

The proposal

I will go to Vegas on Jun 17th and leave on July 10th. There will be a bankroll that will be allowed to be used for the following tournaments.

As you can see I have around 4-5 tournaments available each day, the most likely  schedule will look something like: but will allow for a bunch of adjustments.

If the bankroll is over 10,000 by the end of the trip I will play the main event on the 7th July.

You can see that I have tournaments of every day of my duration. This will be a purely professional holiday, I wont be taking any days off, I will be grinding because Im spending a lot of money and time on this and Im not going for fun. Those who know me properly know that I barely ever drink (I havent been drunk in 2013 and probably 2 or 3 times in 2012 at the most) I dont enjoy clubbing or any of that lark, Im there to win money.

I have completed north of 100,000 in transfers to people in the community acted as a vouch in many prop bets and have a stellar reputation among multiple poker communities.

I am predominatly a cash game grinder. Im posting on my phone now but can post screenshots and provide info for any staker who wishes to see it.

I have started playing tournaments relatively recently and whilst not winning any of the following scores would have made me a big winner.

Other notable scores incliude a TCOOP final table, Sunday 530 third for 50k+, 4th in Stars 6max and multiple others.

As far as live experience goes, I have been a big winner in live cash games in multiple countries, I did a blog last time I was in Vegas where I had something like 18 out of 20 profitable sessions. I will also record all information in the thread and consult with staker about each tournament we play.

I have won a side event at last years WSOP series and had a few other cashes but have probably played less than 20 total.

The bankroll will be $20ö00 and I will be taking 30% of that as I believe its important that the stakee always has a minimum of 30% of the potential winnings, although I dont envisage that I would be less plus ev with 20% really I just want 3 fkn million.

The markup that I will be charging will be 1.2 which I think due to the tournaments selected, plus the roll over to the main event where many others are selling at 1.5 it provides good value.


As stated previously I wont be taking any days off unless there is a very extreme reason. If I win a bracelet and 300k, Ill be grinding the next day at 12pm.

Regardless of how much you love the game, it's quite conceivable that you'll be be feeling Vegas'd by the time you sit down to play the biggest and best tourney of the whole coup.

hey man gl with this, sick to try and grind every day, altho i think its def +ev to have a pool day, or just some chill time.
Also, just curious (this is in no way trying to start a debate or open a can of worms), but u said last night when selling for the super tuesday u would be only sellin at 1.0 from now on (for the foreseeable future). Does that only apply for online mtt's then? Just curious as this is @1.2 if i read correctly. I may just be missing something as havnt read through everything.

Yeh I wrote that apart from Vegas in the blog. I accidentally sold st 0.9 last night in the ST. It was for one off tournament a mainly. It is still quite a bit loader than all the other Vegas packages on here and even if the package has a negative roi it gives a chance for the main at 1.2 which would be the lowest sold on here this year. I think the price is fine and had around 50% extra on a reserve list so the market seems to think so too.

And I mean it's not that many days right? If for whatever reason I feel tired or want to chill out then sure I'll do it but that's not the intention. I also absolutely hate sitting by the pool, being on a beach etc. if I want to chill then I find nothing more relaxing than riffling some chips! Haha

I'd go for just playing as much as you can if that is your reason for going.  Maybe have a day off if you run deep in something, as not sure you'd want to start again at noon after 2 or 3 long days. 

But you'll probably only average 6 hours or so in a tournament one tabling.  It doesn't feel particularly tiring to me.  Am looking forward to not hearing any crying in the middle of the night or having anybody telling me it IS morning at 6am.  I could probably play a full day, and follow it up with a  4 hour cash session and still get more sleep than I do at home. 

As others have said, it isn't that difficult to bust before the first break off a 100 BB stack.  If some are playing for 6 hours, shoebombing for another 8, followed by spearments for 4, then it is going to be a bit more tiring, and the bankroll is going to take a pasting. 

I am only going for a week, so can't see me having any days off.   Wish I could spend more time there, and have a few days touring round, but just isn't practical for me.

+1 to having a few days off, so much to do in Vegas apart from poker, would personally take a few days off to sample something alternative.

if you feel good, play, if you feel tilted/a bit ovver it/tired or whatever then go shopping, see a show, chill be the pool.


Don't w/e you do feel obligated to play when you're not at your best cos you said you would on here, this is the big thing that makes me hate these high vegas mark-ups because people who haven't been that much don't realise how intense the place is and how easy it is to burnout and feel tired/run down and totally over it + just plough on regardless, turns a package thats great value at 1.2 into one that's bad value at spot.

Yeh ofc if I feel like I'm not ready for a big grind I'll take the day off and play a night time 135 turbo or something.

Much easier to grind in Vegas imo than get sidetracked by everything Vegas has to offer.
You will get time off on the days you bust early etc and if you feel too tired etc just chill by the pool/show etc

What do investors think about the 2.5k 4max?

It has been on the sheet all the time but in not sure.

Pros-

I'm suited to deep stack short handed play
If you get 1 or 2 fish it's really huge
Smaller field

Cons-

Fish put off because of the format so tougher field.

There's a 1k Venetian on at the same time that will probably be pretty reggy too.

I always had my eye on this tournament hit its the most expensive in tr provisional package ad because it's potential tough and the largest amount of markup in dollar amounts is assigned to this tournament I thought it would be good to ask investors.

last year the 4max had 'potential' but was pretty awful, and you don't even get the main benefit of the leg room! was just reg filled and the ratio of recs was very low.

the venetians were in general incred value, esp the 400-1.6ks so value wise would deffo recommend that over the 4max, but 4max is fun and it's novel to play it live and people will make such awful adjustments for them.

Chipped up really well early.

Table was pretty soft.  Jono neck moved to right and then aggro German who cold 4 bet folded his first hand moves across the way.

I'm talkin a lot to Jono and 3bet his co open twice in a row the second time the German cold 4 and I click it back with ak pretty deep and he jams quickly with aq.

We he ak and he flops a queen for lots of chips.

Annoying. I said to myself as soon as cards on back. 'let's nt start with a bad one' window queen obv.

Alright will do a tourney report.

Sat down and we started three handed, I had what seemed to be 2 weak regs who let me chip up from 20-23k at 25/50. A huge New York whale sat down limp calling 100% and not folding to cbets. And we made some good value bts and barrels and accumulates to 26k.

German guy st down nd cold 4bet firt 2 hands and was spewing massively. Jono beck sat on my right too.

At 100/200 Jon opens cut off I 3bet for third time in a row, German cold 4, I click it back and he jams aq into my ak.

I lose on the qj2 for lots f chips on a really good table and in position to the fish.

The fish gets up to 60k lol and then he is just never ever folding.

So when he limps hijac I don't want to raise  cbet and fold a4 as it has bad playability so just looking to realise my equity vs him and jammed 3800 at 100/200 and he said he would gamble and called with kj and flopped me dead.

Really nappy to bust but feeling great abit my game.

Tomorrow is the 4max. I played 3-4 handed for 90 minutes today and feel very comfortable. Will updates at end f day tomorrow

 I'm down to 5700 but feel fine. English guy is min raising q3o oop vs me and calling 3bets with a2o etc just really adjusting poorly.

American is good but is staying out of my way completely and focusing on other guy.

Big one I lost is where I raise ak check kj4 bet call 8 turn and pay off on blank vs j8. Can pretty much never fold there when I check back flop

I've never seen anywhere as busy as Vegas tonight. Literally so many people going out etc. I came home at 8pm for an early night before big wsop weekend.

I'm feeling really really dejected and jilts putting a brave face on not particularly enjoying it at all. I snapped at a couple of Americans in the last day when I should have said nothing.

I'm gonna keep giving it my all and playing good except for around 40 mi uses today (where all I really did was 3bf 3 times) I think I've played great. Some pretty huge folds and feel like I'm really in the zone.

It's pretty hard to deal with the mental swings of live poker and the reality that playing 10 tournaments and not cashing for 2 weeks is like bricking 2 hours worth online is pretty worrying!

Tomorrow is the 1500 then the 1000 on Sunday.

They are both pretty shallow but will hope to make a run.

Chin up son...you know factually, as you said it's like bricking a fifth of your Subday schedule. I l ow how you feel, I've bricked like six small events and its tough - key is staying mentally strong. I know you're your own man, only thing I'd say is its alright to take a bit of time of if you feel like doing that. I felt do refreshed before the turbo yesterday after just taking some time out by the pool and hanging out with friends.

P.s. Not sure of the fold vs zimmerman. What would you say your image looked like to him? Edit: just watched the vid. He wouldn't have shown the 9 if he had two of them imo, so 9Ts would be one of the only other hands in his button peeling range there. Very decent fold imo.

Also, maybe just go play a deep cash game for a day for morale.

I've played cash games that severely hurt morale. No bad beat stories but 95% of 2 600bb pots didn't hold.

99 and aj thenn next hand I 3b and was happy when he 4b called.

He had just doubled before the break 33 v aq AirTf of q33 with huge dynamic and had heaps of chips.

Was for around 34k at 300/600.

Prob play the 1k tomorrow.

We started on a table with 7 fish and 1 reg so was very happy.

We chipped up to 6.xk when I 3bet qq, old guy peels and min raises me on q92hhx and then calls my 3bet before folding the turn.

We play tight because its full ring pre ante and then we find aces. Open to 375 at 75/150 get 2 calls and cbet 375 on q72. Reg makes it 775 and we call.

Turn is ugly queen and we check call 1200 and check check on river and we win.

We play tight and get 1 4b bluff through and make a few value bets and get up to 8k.

We just play 4 hours of small pot poker and chip up to 13k.

A couple of the fish run crazy good and knock each other out and are all replaced by good regs so I'm very happy to move to a new table with 11.5k at 150/300

One last hand before the break where we had not played a hand in 2 orbits and new guy had opened 20 hands in a row, 3bet 50% of spots and squeezed 50% of spots opened and got 4 callers and we call the big blind.

Flop is a44 and he cbets and looks really weak everybody folds and I call oop. Turn is a 2 and it goes check,check. River ten and I get 1250 into 3k and he calls with j9 high rofl.

New table I open 3 times in 2 orbits ad people squeeze and have aces each time.

Cme back from the break with 11k jake ballsiger has heaps and is spewing a bit.

He opens we jam 99 from blinds. He folds. Next hand sa,e thing but weave aj.

Immediate hand he opens and we are now a,little,deeper as its 300/600/75 and I make it 2400 he makes it 4800 and I'm fist pumping so hard. I pile QQ and he obviously has KK

Finished 456th with 240? Paying from 2200.

Felt really shit as was for a 35k pot on good new table with great structure.

It's really easy to say you're playing great when you're 0/4 but I feel like I've never been in the zone like I have this week at the tables.

Think ill go play the 1k today but because its so shallow will play so,etching after if I don't get a stack.

Chipped up from 3k to 4k early then moved tables and chipped up to around 5k before moving rooms.

New table was pretty tough, Scott Shelley another UK reg and a few online kids who were making life hard.

I chipped up to around 9k then took scott Clements out in a pot he played pretty bad.

Chipped up to like 13k basically no all ins which was really happy about and then won 88 v 55 on 85x for 5k chips to give me nice stack.

I moved tables and built up to 35k going 50 from the bubble.

I then lost 15k vs pab folytyns a6 when I had aj which was gutting.

Got down to 22.5k then with 20 off the bubble I raised every single hand and 3bet round 80% and went from 22 to 42 without slowdown which was huge.

We get in the money nd I raise t9dd flop is tc 8d 7c I check villain bets 4k I call. Turn is a brick I check call 9k river is brick and I check check and he has t8. Was pretty gutted as would have had over 60k on heaven table and playing Great but instead come back today with 32k t 600/1200 and my first wsop cash.

The heart and grind ethic you have shown since playing mtt's is pretty cool to see for someone like me who has def been guilty of being a lazy grinder and a mental game fish in the past.

I was struggling to think of the appropriate word clearly i chose the wrong one. There is just something i really admire since pads started playing mtts though that i get from talking to him quite regularly though,just didnt word it right, c'est la vie.

A leak is so,etching that makes you play bad or changes your performance. Ie a psychological leak for an actor,would be beng nervous before beng on stage. A poker players could be drinking the day before a tournament, missing tournaments because they cba or punting stacks because they started badly. I've improved in every tournament I've played and been even keener to grind so  don't know how it could be considered a leak. I regged a 235$ tournament,net 1 second after receiving the money frm finishing 100th out of 2100 in the softest event of the year with over 350,000 for first. I'd actually say that I have probably perfect,mindset when it comes to grinding/psychology, especially for live mtts.

The videos are supposed to show how you feel when you bust tournaments, when things aren't going your way, when you get to vegas, where you stay and hopefully you feel when you're running very deep too. But don't expect everybody to enjoy them and they certainly don't have to watch if it tilts them either.

Structure in Venetian is incredible

Undoubtedly more value in ante up; there will be so many role uniting 1k as its a WSOP event who do y have you're technical capability to adjustti the event; irrespective of how many of these you have played.  The 2.5k will yes, granted have  better structure but really think opponents will not balance that.

Can confirm it was an absolute ball.  The atmosphere was a lot different to most hold em tournaments, with much more banter.  I am sure the surely types will be at the Venetian.  If it wasn't the same day as the plo8, would definitely be playing this. 

Limp for England, and you'll get way more post flop play than an average poker tournament too.

The structure is very quick if the same as last year. We reached the cash on day 1.

He is going to be fairly shallow in this post flop.  You start with 4500.  They all put in 25, if someone raises pre, there are going to be 500 chips in the pot pre, and "getting away" after a standard 3 bet on that flop seems really bad.  Don't think a8 suited ever gets away either.

Just seems unlucky and move on to me.

I would say that every starting table I've had so far would be equivalent of a small stakes tournament online.

The 2500 Venetian looked tough so I didn't register.

Everything I've played has been 350-2k buy in except this one which would be the equivalent of the big 109 on stars.

I sat out of 3 cash games because they looked tough have no problem with being humble on good tables.

If guys 3b call 40 bbs with 87o or they get 200bbs in with aj or rofls off 6bbs then they aren't going to be great.

You will probably have seen yesterday that I'm extremely nice to them though and don't act badly, I spoke to e two older gentleman next to me about life in different places,cultures and a wide range of topics. If I was omgomgomg how can you call how can you 3bet and call my all in with 87o ffsssss then I'd understand!

Leaving a bowl behind on the river is a >90% bluff. It's an instinctive thing not to leave yourself out if called and, conversely, you'd never leave a chip behind if you had QQ v this guy's range.

Think Phil Hellmuth commented on this being a huge tell he picked up through his studies with Joe Navarro.

Interesting point about what can you legitimately be bluffing with but the river bet is so odd it trumps the play on the turn for relevance.

yeh felt i was a little bit too weak vs their ranges lots of jq,kj,jt that would fold to the 3bet but id be dominated by if i flat pre + the fact that i could have reverse implied flush odds.

but guess vs 2 weak players peeling pre and just making trivial top pair folds may be best. dont really like squeezing in these spots in live tournaments but was the perfect spot i felt.

also something ive definitely learned ie the betting all in ather leaving a few k to spin up wit otr :d I just felt he couldnt give m any bluff combos so didnt think much about it.

So depending where we are after the tournaments above ^^ everybodies 1% or in your case 2%s will be either enough to cover the 10k buy in, or the %s will be diluted. Thee will obviously be an option if the 1% are diluted to 0.7% for people to top up to the whole 1%.

J8s is pretty deece hand to play 4 way for 1bb, especially when we have a 'fish' a 'calling station' and i think you said another passive?

Villain 2 granted would want to play pots
Villain 3 usually has nothing/folds a lot

Bb was actually aggressive guy not a calling station so felt he would squeeze a lot if we flat because he was overly aggro and knew how good a spot it would be (also why I made it 3100 instead of 2900 to hope he didn't cold 4bet a lot)

In general really try to avoid these spots pre flop in Vegas and play more small ball but felt pre flop was a great spot.

Sounds like we didn't run that great, but yep, like you said, great you made it through.

As for that hand, I think it is a very interesting spot. Hands that would appear to be in his range include QQ, JJ, QJ, Axdd, KTdd, 89dd. Could also occasionally have other diamond draws (btw not sure of suit, for some reason remember diamonds) and maybe some other KT hands. There is also the possibility of AA/KK and this would depend on perceived ranges and game flow, which you will have a better idea of. Could also have hands like AQdd, AJdd, A7dd. AQdd looks absolutely huge when flopped, and can give villain a sense of a freeroll against a capped range when you call the 3bet.

I think what makes this interesting is that this is the main event. There is a trade off between getting your stack in and waiting for a better spot, since there are supposedly some people just giving their chips away. With your skill level I think it is definitely reasonable to fold in this spot since you don't have the 'go with it' like a lot of other runners will feel they need to when they flop a set.

If villain is good, then we never really get it in with a huge edge. I think it's important to recognise our perceived image, as that will greatly define how good we get a set of sevens in in this spot.

I mean if it was him, then I think you have to peel his c/r and absolutely snap his arm off when he jams the turn on any card. Yeah he could have one of the 12 combos of JJ/QQ, but you beat so much of his range that he's going to play exactly the same. The ME may mean a lot to you, but it certainly doesn't to him, he's just going to jam his entire range ott, especially on any K's, A's, 9's, 8's, and any blue cards because your going to 'have' to fold your set/2pr that you've flatted with. He knows this line gets so so many folds.
Just my opinion having played with the little tyke.
