We are into Level 2 and the queue to buy in has just subsided

We are up to 144 runners, which is a really good turn out and the beginnings of proof that this is going to be a popular tournament through this summer....

We have lost one player, Simon Barnes

Half an hour levels playing til the top ten percent of the field are left and they go through to Sunday guaranteed the £300 min cash or more....

--

Gavin Chamberlain won a nice pot off Tomsom the Chipmunk

Chamberlain bet 3700 on the river of a  2c Ad Jc 3s 8d board

Tomsom called with  Aspades 9h but was shown  Ahrt 8s, which was a fortunate river for Gavin

"We have 185 runners with 2 hours of late reg to go in the £100 Deepstack

I am going to ask the players for a show of hands at the break for a 5pm start / early finish or 7pm start/later finish on Fridays. This is a record number for a Deepstack on a Friday night, the £150 Deepstack and £300 gets 100 players on Fridays.

Cheers Simon"

This is Yung Hon Ngan, who I met for the first time at the ISPT. DTD local, student, small tournaments

Current chip leader

"Go on, tell him how you got them" says a tablemate

Yung is bashful

"I'll tell him" the tablemate wants me to know what affront to poker Yung has committed

"He called an all in on a Jack high flop with Jack-Nine"

I wait, expectant

"He is up against Aces"

I go 5/6 the Jack, 6/4 the Nine, in my head

"The river comes a Jack and he knocks him out" says the indignant tablemate

Yung smiles shyly.....I mentally go off to the payout window

Been labouring with laptop woes, as you might be able to tell

Anyway, entry closed for tonight with a whopping 206 entries, so we are playing to 20 and are currently in Level 7 with 136 left at 600-1200 average 45,000

Meaning we head into tomorrow's final day one, at 5pm, with 346 total needing 154 more to hit the £50,000 GTE

Going to be smashed. The guarantee, not the laptop. Though come to think of it....

John Kittle opens to 3400 at 800-1600

Tony Lang calls

Sean Randall calls on the button

In the small blind Tom Somerville all in 22,000

Kittle grimace folds

Lang calls

Randall folds

Lang A-Jo, and Kittle lets out a gasp

Somerville K-9hh

2-9-2 flop

Perhaps Somerville is not going to leave the tournament this way. He can survive then, can he stay alive?

5 turn

Ace on the river to knock tomsom87 out and give me another crack at a lookalike tomorrow

Meanwhile Greek Jack has about 100,000 or double average

Interesting this, as he is one of the Day Two Qualifiers from Online with 300k ish, and is attempting to merge stacks, the only person in tonight's field I think who is trying to do so...

He needs to get over 400,000 combined to be Sunday's chip leader, so far....

98 left as the field resumes at Level 9 1000-2000

20 will make it to Sunday, 6 will get their £100 back

Average 63,000

I probably have to give this up as a bad job and take my laptop to a man I know in the morning, but will persist for now

One of the issues with this bumper field, which surprised me, is how long it will take to play down to 20.

Adjusting for clocks, if it finishes at the same level as the Online Day Ones have done, that's 5am

Presumably it will play a bit quicker without time-banking near the bubble, and with live players knowing they have a shot tomorrow....

Richard Blacklock has 45,000

About 2/3 average

He was down to 5,000 am level ago

He 5 bet folded 4-5cc against Adam Cook.

Cook showed him 10-3 off

Next orbit against the same player he 6 bet shoved A-Q and was called by 10-10

Tens held, to take him down to the felt

Several double ups later he is still in there fighting

Wes Ellis the DTD low stakes tournament reg looks to be chip leader with over 200,000

Other regs still in are Raj Dhiri, Dale Harper and Greek Jack

Pete the Bandit has 170-180,000 and is a good bet to make Sunday with those

Tyler Bonser is sitting next to Tom Rutter. Both have well over 100,000

Steve Brown is about double average

James Bell and Danny Young are on talbe Rutter, both above average stacks

Andrew Olssen has 120,000

Surely the "projected" 5am finish must be giving people fits though? or is it the fact they have a day off that renders that null/vold?

It won't finish at 5am, as I indicated it will play quicker

You play Friday in the knowledge that tomorrow isn't a work day for a lot who'll play it and if you want a crack at Saturday too it starts at 5pm

I think two flights on a Saturday say 1pm and 5pm, probably has merit too

Start at 5pm on a Friday and don't get over 200....

DTD will stick with 7pm I reckon

Are there plans for any feeders online to the day ones?

bet was on 5 people ralph :)

As we moved towards the first break of the day after 4 levels

268 entries, another wonderful turnout

Late reg open to 8pm

Add those to the 354 entries before today and we are 622 entries and rising....

Thinking this format might be here for a while over the summer!

Currently 249 are left, blinds go 300-600 and average is 32,000 on resumption

Up on 48, Jamie WIlkinson raises, Dominic Evans flats and Bash Mahmood in the big blind calls

Three stacks are all in on the flop as below

Wilkinson has c-bet 10-10, Evans has raised the nut flush draw, Bash has check raised all in

The overpair has called and the Nut draw has felt priced in

Wilkinson holds and hits a house on the river to win a 100,000 pot and knock out Mahmood

Dipesh Mistry raises UTG 1600 at 300-600

Everyone calls, no exception, round to Michelle Smiler Bennett in the small blind with 6h 9h and she calls too

flop 4h 2h Qh

very nice

Michelle makes a brave check

UTG raiser checks

Leslie Rycroft in mid position bets 6000 into 15000

Kassim Mahmood flats this

Bennett jams.....for 33,000

Both call

Rycroft 4c 4s

Mahmood Ahrt 3h

board pairs on the Qc turn to win Rycroft a 120,000 pot and knock both out

Karabiner went down from 48,000 to 35,000 in a card dead hour then in a multi way limped pot he completed in the small blind with

10-8hh

8-5-2 two clubs flop

check by Karabiner, bet and call from two of the limpers, Karabiner shoves and is called by A4cc which bricks flush draw, straight draw and over-card to double Karabiner up

He now has 85,000 at the break and has "never had so many chips"

Ian Gascoigne appears to be chip leader with over 225,000

I counted it twice to make sure

"Just general brilliance, hitting nothing, bluffing, shoving the river with nothing" he tells me is the route to his success today

Pause

"No, I am hitting everything" he tells me exiting his parallel universe

He had JJ v AK all in on J-Q-K to win a big confrontation, hitting a Jack for quads on the river, which was a big part of his ascent to the top. So far.

Min Ji calls in the small blind

Ian Gascoigne "Richard"

I look round

"All in" from the big blind

Min calls all in

Fox KK
Ji KQcc
Gascoigne AA

6-3-4-10-4

Gascoigne knocks two out

Goes to nearly 300,000

and tells me

"that's just the way it is"

Meanwhile in chip leader city Tomsom87 is moved table and picks up AQ first hand

His short-stacked lady opponent stop and goes from the big blind by calling pre and shoving 7-6-J

Tom calls her with two overs, and is ahead against a drawing 9-8

Tom holds on the 6 turn, J river to go over 400,000

Yes he is still in with 170,000 at 3-6k just below average

48 left and two hand for hands to come.

From 37 to 36 for the £100 bubble

From 29 to 28 to get through to tomorrow

It necessarily a bit shooty at this stage but tomorrow, having had a look the structure is v good

62 will come back with 55x bb average at 3-6k and a 40 minute clock all guaranteed £300. Should be a good day, and £14,000 ish to the winner

Karabiner is hanging on with 80k. Infinite patience. I wander past his table on stack deathwatch, and go away again and then wander past again and nothing happens!

Old school

Go Ian and Tomsom!

Ian still has 250,000

I need to give him a bit of coaching. Too much calling 3 bets and playing hands out of position, check folding when you miss flops for my liking Ian! Consider yourself told.

Tomsom has 400,000 and incredibly two levels after he got them he still has them.

Karabiner money back bubbles

Min raise, and Karabiner has KQ in the big blind playing 10x bb

the UTG has Aces and knocks him out

Probs has an unrealistic expectation of how often he'll flop a set from all those hours of cash with me and Mitch....

This really annoys me. Women pointing out women doing well. How do you ever expect equality in poker, with comments like that?

Lol I think you'll find that your comment is more ridiculous than mine.  What makes you think that I don't think I already have equality in poker? For the record I believe as a person (not as a woman) that I do already have equality in poker. Your comment demonstrates exactly why some women feel that they don't.

First exit was Andreas Kyriacou, against Rob Day

9-5-2-A-A

Kyriacou with A-J the pre-flop caller of a Day raise

Nice turn, nice river

but not if the pre-flop raiser is holding 5-5

Table 22 is ridiculous

A guy whos 4-bets to 120k and passes to the all-in 214k

A 5-bet A7o through 9-9

Literally more than 50% of pots are 3-bet preflop

A couple of comedy oversized shoves

And all within 40 mins

Making for a pretty interesting dynamic..can't really think of another time I have played on a table like this

7    Salvatore Favata
48    Adrian Ko
49    Carwyn Jenkins
50    Sohrab Tavakkolee Tazehabadi
51    Ferhad Seyadi
52    Nick Jenkins

56    Benjamin Mortlock
57    Kyle Gibbons
58    Jay Patel
59    Chris Cancelliere
60    Neil Wyatt
61    Rob Day

The remaining 45 now play 5000-10000. Average is 420,000 and the structure is great for the business end of a comp like this

Suzanne Gilbert is still chip leader with a million chips and the likes of Tom Somerville, Tommy Bingham, Maria Demetriou, Tom Rutter, Raj Dhiri and Pete the Bandit jostling in behind....

Tom Somerville is chip leader with 34 left, and 1.4m

Average 566,000 the the average is how it has been all day 40x bb

I think this could finish much later than the intended aim of midnight to 1am, there are 19.2m chips in play and a 40 minute clock

Could be argued this is deeper and playing better than DTD's higher buy in traditional deepstack

Suzanne Gilbert raises and sees six callers

All seven check 7c 6h 4d

Anthony Arlott in the small blind bets 55,000 on the 7s turn and Gavin Roberts is the only caller

check check on the 6d river and Arlott 9s 9d beats Roberts 3s 3c to win the pot

Table 22 is ridiculous

A guy whos 4-bets to 120k and passes to the all-in 214k

A 5-bet A7o through 9-9

Literally more than 50% of pots are 3-bet preflop

A couple of comedy oversized shoves

And all within 40 mins

Making for a pretty interesting dynamic..can't really think of another time I have played on a table like this

this is John Bell, two to Tom Ruter's left and possibly described as "unorthodox" and causing Rutter problems

Nope.. this is Gaz Payne. Unorthodox is correct though - if a little bit of an understatement.

He's one of the 9 players who lost their DTD virginity yesterday (nothing to do with me I swear). Gaz was 19 last week and has perfected the "I'm a pro flick fold" and the dramatic splashing of chips into the pot.

He plays at my local in Southport and was the only one of us to get through to day Two. Blind squirrell theory or skill? Maybe other players on his table can decide.

Peter Evans raises UTG and Tommy Bingham flats on the button

7-3-3 flop

Evans shoves 300,000 into a 100,000 pot

Bingham is playing 600,000 and gives it a long think before folding

Evans shows him a seven (9-7)

Bingham shows him a Queen (A-Q)

and what has been long running banter between the two all afternoon continues

There is no stream tonight..

I just asked Rob why?

"I don't like streaming, people moan at something that is free of charge, they moan at the commentators, they moan when there are technical problems. Why bother?"

translated "it costs money to stream, bandwidth, people and we'll keep it for big events only. Also I love tighty's updates and think it makes a nice change for blonde to update to a finish"

So the tournament is in the new VIP area (that was the old VIP room behind the glass). Makes a nice change though I am distracted, perched on the side of a roulette table with £45,000 in casino chips behind lock and unfortunately no key centimeteres to my left.

The music is turned down in here and its a nice atmosphere for a final. The players have their own bar, and it begins to resemble a scene from High Stakes Poker, the US show froma  couple of years back with bar, valets, chairs in the corner..away from the hustle and bustle of a busy Sunday evening club

As an added bonus, I am away from the Welcome desk so I don't need to tell 30 people a day how to use the DTD Online software on the terminals opposite me

Toms Somerville and Bingham have been very impressive all day, and I reckon might be favourites to win here

Conway though is the chip leader and after his 88>QQx2 coup ealier momentum is with him

Slater is experienced around the UK circuit, Arlott (from Leicester) has been round the block too

I don't know Brown, Reid or Burnett from any DTD tournaments I have covered in the past.

Conway button raises, Slater calls in the big

6-5-2

Two stacks fly in for 14 of the 19m in play

The shorter stacks cartwheel down the disabled ramp, in disbelief

Conway J-J

Slater 6-5

7 turn

"no 2 no 7 no Jack HOLD" shouts Slater

river J for a massive Conway double up and Slater stomps and swears around the VIP area.......probably thinking he was unlucky

Is this a huge turning point?

Linton Reid 265,000 UTG

Slater 900,000 OTB

Reid all in 2.5m

Call

Reid J-J

Slater A-Q

"We need this one" says Slater's railer with impressive superfluousness

3-4-Q

"Queen in the win-dow" shouts the railer exaggerating the word window like Dale Winton on helium

"Hollllllllllld" he exclaims

9

7

and we lose Linton Reid in 4th palce

At 80-160k with Slater still a big chip leader the two shorter stacks get it in blind on blind

Brown shoves 3-3

Conway calls A-9

2-3-4-2-Q doubles Conway to 7m and leaves Conway with less than a million

Brown has taken the chip lead

In the major pot Slater button raised, call

Brown check called on 5-8-Q-2

then checked the 4 river, 5m pot with  6-7 for the nuts

Slater found a pretty good check behind in the circumstances with Q-9

blinds now 100-200k, 12m Brown plays 7m Slater
