Title: Goliath day 2
Post by: LeedsRhodesy on August 25, 2013, 12:42:21 PM

Hero bb 200k
Villain  210k UTG + 3

Blinds are 5k/10k 1k

The villain has only just moved to the table no info on him!!

Villain opens to 35k and it's folded round to hero in BB and he looks at  Aspades  Js

If you are jamming  what's the range you call the jam with if you are UTG +3

if you fold what cards are you jamming with in this spot with

Thanks

Seems marginal to me. You're not getting called by worse but you could get AQ (sometimes) and a fair few pairs to fold.

I think you should do this occasionally, but the majority of the time, I think it's a fold.

I think it's a fold.

^ Especially readless

when guys open this big in live poker they usually have a v strong hand imo

How old is he? Is he wearing a hoodie? Does he look good ie came over looking comfortable, emptied his chip tray efficiently etc.

AQ of clubs/spades, AK and TT+ for me atm.

I dont see the need to put it in light vs someone who has shown they likely have at least a decent hand.

Important to highlight for future posts tho.

Amount of people who were young wearing hoodies and bad was quite a few. They'd get move to my left an I'd think great then they'd either open limp or raise to 4.5x

Yeah, fold all day long for me here. If he came over, was wearing a hoody and didn't look too old and 2.5x'd it I'm arrin till the cows come home.

The raise size is key, snap fold

Fold for me. You have too many chips. Or not enough some might.say?

I think most randoms will be pot committed with that  sort of raise.

What pos did he raise in?

I is pissed again so apologies if I should know.

I love 20 BB stacks, why the risk?

I would say that, in the live, Goliath scenario, this hand is a clear fold. Although your hand looks pretty you are never getting called by a worse hand. Despite being down to 20bb you will almost certainly have much better spots to get chips, with less risk of having to win at showdown.

call
why?

discount in bb, keep in worse hands, hand too strong to fold and flops well, postflop (hopefully) edge.

What worse hands does he 3.5x off 20bigs? How well does our hand play with an SPR of ~2.75. Postflop edge pretty small when spr is so small, especially oop without betting lead. I'm not trolling here just don't think its even close to a call.

Hand definitely isn't too strong to fold. The bigger bet enables us to make an easier decision. With 20 bigs, we can decide to put the villain to a decision for his tournament and thereby often get some better hands to fold, but there are more persuasive arguments for folding and saving ourselves for better spots.

Out of interest, what would we do in the same spot with:

 Aspades Qs

 9d 9h

8h 8d if jam with nines;  Tc Td if you pass

?

Fold.
Was talking bout this kinda thing with a few mates. Think in a field like this there are so many more better spots....and a good proportion of the field was pub playerish and just wouldnt 'understand' what your jam means..or do what theyre 'supposed' to do ...

Alot of players seemed to get a hand and 'just went with it'

well were not expecting them to fold better hands, so if they might do something, then its probably going to be a good thing for us.
