Title: EPT Barcelona Thread Post by: TightEnd on August 28, 2013, 11:47:28 AM EPT Barcelona will open Season 10 and the tour will again partner with the Estrellas Poker Tour to create Spain’s largest-ever poker festival. The Festival runs August 26-September 7, 2013 and the whole event will once again take place in an annexe of the Casino de Barcelona at Hotel Arts Barcelona, providing a fantastically spacious venue in a very luxurious setting. Close to 2,000 players took part last season and this Festival will kick Season 10 off in style - make sure you are there.
EPT Barcelona Main Event The €5,000 + €300 Main Event will take place September 1-7, and will attract the best players from around the world, including hundreds of PokerStars qualifiers. Last season's event was a spectacular success with by far the biggest field the tournament has ever drawn. More than 1,000 players competed, making it the biggest poker tournament ever held in Spain, and the Main Event prize pool topped €5,000,000! Belarussian player Mikalai Pobal scooped the massive €1,007,700 first prize after beating Finland’s Ilari Sahamies. Estrellas Poker Tour Barcelona Estrellas Poker Tour events will take place August 28-September 1, and will conclude the ESPT Season 4 schedule. The Main Event will feature a €1,000 + €100 buy-in and a €850,000 guarantee and this is one of Spain’s most eagerly-anticipated live poker tournaments. For more information on the Estrellas Poker Tour, visit the official website: www.estrellaspokertour.com this thread for news, updates, follow the progress of UK players etc Please post if you are there/how you get on etc Title: Re: EPT Barcelona Thread Post by: CHIPPYMAN on August 29, 2013, 09:01:59 AM Good luck to Deadman, Mitch , Fred, Alex and Scotty whom I knew are playing .

Title: Re: EPT Barcelona Thread Post by: TightEnd on August 30, 2013, 09:33:12 AM This week's Estrellas Poker Tour event in Barcelona has just become the biggest freezeout event in PokerStars tour history.
Up until today, the 1,626-strong field at UKIPT Nottingham held the record for the biggest PokerStars event. It seemed like a tough record to beat. But, this week, the Estrellas event simply blew up. Six hundred seventy-five people signed up for Day 1A Wednesday. This morning, the Day 1B field and queue for alternates was huge. At the dinner break tonight, at least 960 people had taken their seats for the €1,100 Main Event, taking the total number of players to at least 1,635. Edgar Stuchly, President of the EPT, said, "I'm incredibly proud to be part of the biggest live poker tournament that PokerStars has ever held. Last year's player numbers in Barcelona - both Estrellas and the EPT - were sensational. It is fantastic that we have beaten our own record and also now that of the 2011 PCA and UKIPT Nottingham. I want to thank all our players who have made this possible - and also my team who have worked so hard and are so dedicated." Title: Re: EPT Barcelona Thread Post by: cambridgealex on August 30, 2013, 10:05:27 AM Quite amazing numbers here. 100 people queuing for the 200 side with 3 hours before it starts!

Thanks :) Took more than a few coolers and suck outs. The real story imo was the 6th place finisher who was disabled (unsure of condition) and couldn't move hands or head/face or hardly speak at all and had his brother tell him what was happening and what moves to make for him. Very inspirational and I actually felt bad to cooler him with JJ vs K5 on J55 flop for the biggest pot of the tournament and to knock him out in 6th later but that's poker. this made 1226 for the total field 728 through to Day 2 "a 1,200-plus player turnout most certainly tops last year's Barcelona best of 1,082. As far as breaking the all-time high for non-PCA European Poker Tour events of 1,240 set in Sanremo during Season 6 is concerned, that remains to be seen once registration officially closes at the start of tomorrow's Day 2. Amazing, in any case, to consider the growth in Barcelona since Alex Stevic topped 229 to win the first ever EPT Main Event here in Season 1.
