Title: Best of Britsh.
Post by: mondatoo on November 24, 2013, 07:06:41 PM
I received a letter through the post earlier this week from these :

http://www.crisis.org.uk/

THE IDEA

For every donation of £21.84, which will give a place to a homeless person in a Crisis Centre over Christmas, you will have one entry into the draw to receive two hours coaching from one person from whichever group you choose. You can enter as many times as you like, there are three MTT pro's, three Cash game pro's and three SNG pro's.

You can make a donation of £21.84 and post which group you would like coaching from, you could donate £65.52 and choose to have one entry into all three or you could donate £109.20 and have all five entry's for MTT coaching.

WHO

The following have all offered to give up there time to do this.

MTT Coaches

Toby "810ofclubs" Lewis
Sam "The Squid" Grafton
Richard "Action Man" Trigg

Cash Coaches

Patrick "Pleno1" Leonard
Daniel "UpTheMariners" Rudd
Stuart "Honeybadger" Barnett

SNG Coaches

James "MC" Atkin
Dan "Dmorgan" Morgan - Heads Up SNG's
Raymond "mondatoo" Norton - 180 mans

HOW TO DONATE

There are three ways that you can donate. You can donate to the Just Giving page here :

http://www.justgiving.com/ukpokercoaching

Or send to me directly via Pokerstars to mondonewc (no avatar) or Bank transfer to me (I will PM details to all who wish to donate via this method).

Proof of the full donation for the total amount will be provided in the thread.

Entries will close on Weds 11th 14:00, the draws will follow soon after.

I will ask a mod to number each qualifying donation in each group and then ask a separate mod to pick who receives the coaching from each coach, these PM's will all be posted in the thread for full transparency.

Please note that Blonde Poker Forum has no responsibility for this.

The date on the Just Giving page signifies when entry's will close, all winners of the coaching will arrange a suitable date and time for both with there respective coach.

As I don't use Facebook or Twitter, I'd be grateful if people would link this on there please. Also anyone who blogs if you could link this up that would be good, thanks.

Feel free to ask any questions.

Thanks for reading.

Just wanted to add, I thought the best way to do this was to show the diversity on offer by doing it 3x each NLHE format. Maybe just listing all those involved would've been better.

Basically all those listed are happy to spend two hours coaching poker looking through whatever it is you would like to.

Great cause, great idea.

Just donated to your justgiving page, please put me into the draw for SNG coaching.

Also, I'm not as rich as Alun but I donated £21.84 on 18/11 and am working with Tighty this week at DTD so can prove that via email etc. However, given Alun would admit I'm slightly better than him at poker, once I've shown Tighty the email if you're still allowing retrospective entries please bump Alun's MTT tokens to 4 as I sometimes play cash against him and don't want him getting any better at that form of poker ;-) tyty

I have to ask, if there are more people asking for mtt coaching does that mean that you are less likely to win in this category? Is it much better value to pick STT or cash atm?

I'd like to donate and I'd go for stt just to try and get Dan. I used to play HU STT's for a living donkeys years ago and would love to see how it's changed.

I expected MTT's to be the most popular, ofc if you choose the one with less people in then you are more likely to win the coaching with there being the same amount of coaches for each category.

We raised £473.58 with Justgiving, the total amount raised was £863.78, I topped it up to £873.60 making it 40 homeless people helped this Xmas. I made the donation through my brother meaning we got gift aid.

We also had Lil Dave, Ross and Ed's donations that were paid directly meaning in total we raised £1004.64

Huge thanks to everyone that supported this.

Haha! SO looking forward to cash game coaching. I am going to ask for specific tips to exploit dino1980.

As I won two, and as I only entered through the back door (oo-er) I think I should chuck the MTT one back in the pot. Seeing as it's Xmas and all. Feel free to redistribute that one to someone more deserving than I please.

I think when Tomsom did it for Paul Ho it didn't work the 1st time, not sure if that was through Just Giving or the Crisis website though.

You're not listed as having donated on the Just Giving page.

No idea why that would happen, even if you were doing it anon I think it would still be listed on the page.

Email Just giving incase you've donated three times ?

I had my session with James this afternoon.   It was very useful and helped me in some areas where I thought I was probably making errors, and maybe in a couple of spots where I didn't realise I was.  Thanks James.

I feel I got very good value for money.  So while I am in the mood to play a bit more correctly, I am going to donate 25% of any poker profit I make between now and when my Sunday session finishes this week.  I will update on this thread.  If I do the inevitable and go backwards I will up my previous donation to £100.

Playing well so far this week.  I have managed 3 final tables in small comps, including a couple of 2nds, but down £450 so far on the week.  Still time to recover it and make some money.

Just for the record, this was only ever my play and doesn't include various stakes.  I don't want to be working out what I have lost/won on the stakes after make up or try and work out what rakeback/bonus I have received from 6 or 7 sites.

Nobody else want to give it a go?

I had my coaching tonight with dan Morgan, he reviewed several heads up sng hand histories for me hand by hand so I could see his hand replayer on the screen.

What i particularly liked was dan made it an open discussion - it wasn't all me just listening for two hours. I was able to put my slant on hands and why i do what i do, which helped dan redirect my thought process to how I should be thinking/acting in certain spots.

I really learned a lot and he identified leaks in my heads up game I didn't know about, and ways to adjust to certain playing styles. I learned a ton in the two hours.

Top guy, top coach, its always great to learn quickly from better players. Would recommend dan for heads up sngs to anyone without hesitation.

Managed another two seconds last night, to add to the two already.  4 seconds and no firsts means I should have drawn Dan Morgan?  I managed my first 4 figure cash on stars in what seems like an age,  Got a monkey off my back doing so, unfortunately I must have done an absolute fortune removing it. I think it must have been close on 4 months and I don't want to count the tournaments.  I  even managed a #doubleupthroughpicken in one of the omaha 8s last night.  TT44 was the unfoldable nuts.  I was very short and in the Big Blind, so think it must have been close even if the hand was dreadful.

I am now up about £120 on the week, so it all depends on the Sunday.   A 4 figure profit would be nice.

Pretty sure I failed here.  A little up on Winamax and FT, but probably $1k down over both stars sites combined.  :(

Edit.  Topped up to £100.

Just done the maths.  I ended up £401 down on the week.  I think I ended up with 5 seconds and 2 thirds, so didn't really get the karma boost I was hoping for at the end of the tournaments.

If you do wanna send over some heads up HHs I'd be happy to take a look, always found it mutually beneficial to get other perspectives on hands/situations.

Can send 'em to danmorgan26(at)gmail(dot)com if you fancy it

Stu, Honeybadger got in touch to tell me that Paul Ho is giving Poker a break so doesn't want the coaching.

So we have another re-draw...
