Title: $35 180man proposal; tomsom edition Post by: theprawnidentity on January 04, 2014, 05:00:50 PM Spoke to Ray last night and he was asking me why I don't play the $35 180 man tournaments. I don't play them because I don't really want the variance in my daily grind, life nits gon nit etc..... So I decided that I would see if there would be any interest in me running a $35 package in the exact same format as my hero!!!! For those who don't know me, I am a 180 man reg at $8's, $3r's and $15's and I do pretty well in these games. I am also a 180 man coach for pokerstrategy.com. My lifetime 180 graph:

I am looking to sell 100% and chops will be 60/40 in the stakers favor. 5% Minimum = $100 10% = $200 25% = $500 This deal is with MU and I will not quit whilst the stake is in MU. Title: Re: $35 180man proposal; tomsom87 edition (40% remaining) Post by: lucky_scrote on January 05, 2014, 10:46:54 AM What sort of volume do you plan on putting in?
What is your typical grind schedule? Title: Re: $35 180man proposal; tomsom87 edition (40% remaining) Post by: theprawnidentity on January 05, 2014, 12:32:46 PM I think realistically I will manage 3 or 4 sessions a week, Ray says that about 10 of these run per day and about 20 on a Sunday, so somewhere between 35 and 50 per week seems reasonable (assuming those figures are correct).
My typical grind is start loading between 4-5pm and keep somewhere between 18-24 tables open till I stop regging (usually somewhere between 8.30 and 11pm depending on how I feel). If I'm grinding on a Saturday or Sunday I would typically start early afternoon and finish in the early hours. I monitored SNG Sensei throughout the session to make sure that it was saying it was registering stuff. It was saying that, IT JUST FUCKING WASN'T. That's two wasted sessions now and I'm really fucking pissed off about it. If i haven't killed myself, or got arrested for killing someone else, I will be back on the grind tomorrow, and I suppose I will have to start manually registering games myself. I really see the point of paying $19.99 a month for a piece of fucking shit software that ruins your session. Basically TN2 properly died on me and I had to abort again (I actually had error messages telling me I had a lot of error messages). Didn't want to come back to this thread till I had a solution, which I do now. I was also way to angry to put up any kind of reasonable post. Managed to find a TN1 install file so I can get rid of the cancer that is TN2 and hopefully get it installed and working. Once thats up and running, we can get back to it!!!!!

I asked this because I know when people lose they lose a bit of motivation. I did the same in my staking thread (although to be fair, I still put in the volume just wasn't doing updates). I know that you had some issues with software and stuff so I expect you to have missed some grinding sessions because of that but according to sharkscope you've played 217 games. You originally predicted to be playing 35-50 games a week so now approaching 10 weeks you should be doing a little better than 217 games. I wouldn't worry about losing investors money either, you've just gotta knuckle down and play 'em, the $35/180's offer a small edge and variance is naturally going to be really high so it's always going to be like this at times, especially at the start of the stake (so seems the trend on here :P). Title: Re: $35 180man proposal; tomsom87 edition (Ongoing) Post by: theprawnidentity on March 16, 2014, 12:30:38 AM Sorry should have updated. Had a nightmare with work the last couple of weeks, been working (got tons in at the minute) / stressed out and haven't really played much at all. Managed to get an hour or two of zoom here and there but that's about it. Admittedly when I started the package work was extremely quiet and I hadn't factored in the weeks when I would have tons do. Will be playing a full session tomorrow, going to reduce the number of tables I play and increase my ABI and hopefully that will get us out much quicker.
Title: Re: $35 180man proposal; tomsom87 edition (Ongoing) Post by: lucky_scrote on March 16, 2014, 02:17:00 PM Just focus on playing good mate! It's all you really can do.

Yeh went through a load of HH's, I had increased the number of tables I was playing slightly and although there was nothing major, there were a few spots I would probably have played different if I had a little bit more time. As we know the edges in the bigger games wont be as large so I think its going to be beneficial for us all. Grinding today obvs, already reg'd the first but it probably won't start for another hour or so. GL_TODAY. What did you find out about the below as this doesn't fill me with confidence obviously. Also what's the volume like nowadays?
Someone worked out that long term over the last year the rake was 50% of most regs winnings, and that for most the rake was winning. Painted a really long term unsustainable picture for the games. I don't know for defo that this is reason why, I can't even find the thread again, I'm just guessing. Looked in Rays thread and looks like they haven't really been running all week. Gonna spend to time tomorrow browsing through the forums and see what I can find. Title: Re: $35 180man proposal; tomsom87 edition (Ongoing) Post by: theprawnidentity on March 30, 2014, 11:48:11 PM The volume seems to have picked up a bit, it's not quite what it was I don't think but it's a bit better than 3 a day now. My volume has dropped a bit with work commitments, everything's picked up massively the last 3 or 4 weeks so I probably can't commit to the volume I originally specified (though I doubt I will miss many Sundays which is the main day anyway).
Pretty sure that these games are still beatable, the fact that I plan to play fewer tables from now on will help a lot. I think the point of the thread was that the rake, which is currently 10%, is the same as regs ROI's, so it wasn't really anything we didn't already know, the point was that the rake is probably unsustainable long term as it will kill off a lot of the 'meh' regs causing the games not to run anymore. I will double check with the non blonde staker that he wants to continue (I'm 90% sure he will), just need to hear from Red Station and if anyone is interested in Dan's share then please get in touch. Title: Re: $35 180man proposal; tomsom87 edition (Ongoing) Post by: Redbull on March 31, 2014, 02:38:12 AM OK cool, glad to hear the volume is looking better. Will send tomorrow if OK. 15% Redbull 5% Borntobubble 10% rounder3989 5% Redstation 25% MC Unfortunately two of the shares don't wish to continue, I think the bar for the MU has been set at 50%. Haven't really been in this position before but if anyone is interested in purchasing the MU (or if anyone left on the list wishes to drop out also), then please either post in this thread or PM me and I will sort it out. 15% Luckyscrote 25% biggest_fi5h 40% available ($1600 of mu @ 50% = $800 + top up = $800) for $1600 total. 10% = $400 (includes acquisition of MU) Hopefully this isn't too confusing / wrong. Title: Re: $35 180man proposal; 40% available. Post by: lucky_scrote on April 02, 2014, 02:53:19 PM Will take $250 for my 15% (worth $600).

Title: Re: $35 180man proposal; 40% available. Post by: theprawnidentity on April 14, 2014, 07:49:25 PM Still 25% remaining. I spoke to the holder of the other 25% and he is happy to get 50% of the MU when I make it back on the package. Meaning that you get the current markup for half price and only have to pay it back once the stake is in profit (meaning you don't have to buy the makeup basically). If anyone is interested please get in touch.
Also golden SNGs at the moment so would be good to get back into this and bink one! Title: Re: $35 180man proposal; 40% available. Post by: redsimon on April 14, 2014, 08:26:11 PM Tom,

Post by: theprawnidentity on April 26, 2014, 09:43:12 PM Sorry the thread has been quiet, had some changes IRL and things have got too much with work so apologies to everyone. For those who haven't read my diary, I resigned from job on Friday so from the end of May I will have a lot more free time and hopefully I will be really able to pick up the volume.
I can only apologise to everyone for my lack of attention over the last few months. Played 3 bricked 3 today for a short session, will be playing a full schedule tomorrow so hopefully will reg most of the games that run. I have also just purchased an iPad so will hopefully that will contribute towards volume too. Roll $1580.00 Title: Re: $35 180man proposal; 40% available. Now that I've got my timetable I can at least make some plans. Most days of the week I'm in Uni from ~11am - 6pm, meaning I don't get home till 7.30 at the earliest. Obviously not ideal for grinding the $35 180's.
Would anyone have objections to me playing the $30 Spin & Go's? I'm thinking that they would be lower variance and we still have a shot at winning some decent money plus they will run frequently during the day. I would only be playing 4 tables at a time to allow for them being 3 handed. If you could all let me know your thoughts on this as soon as possible. We discussed playing the Sunday Rebuy and open jamming every hand till we have 20k but we ruled it out cause James is a tight bastard.
So today I will be grinding the $35's as agreed plus I will be throwing in the 8r 2x turbo (5 bullets max), Hotter 75, Bigger 55 and Hotter 55. Title: Re: $35 180man proposal; tomsom edition Post by: theprawnidentity on October 12, 2014, 08:28:08 PM No runs to report as of yet. Used max bullets in the 8r and didn't really get past double starting, will post hands when I don't have as many tables.

Obviously its good you've made profit in the MTTs you played yesterday, just wonder if BR for this will cover the variance in large field MTTs? (I guess variance in Spins are high too looking at 2P2 thread) After being informed that the variance in these things is "fucking insane" and that it would take "86 years to realize your ROI", I think it's safe to say I'm going to stay away from them for the foreseeable future. Title: Re: $35 180man proposal; tomsom edition Post by: theprawnidentity on October 13, 2014, 07:34:22 PM Basically I did some research as directed by James and we decided that the variance over the course of these spin and goes is completely ridiculous. As Marris as pointed out, some calculations for really average regs point to needing a 86,000 buy in bankroll. Consequently, we decided this wasn't best route to pursue for investors.
Because my sessions will now be limited to one or two a week, we decided that throwing a couple of these turbo MTT's would allow us to play a bit more volume and give the stake a chance of winning big without too much risk. Adding a couple of 55's won't make the variance much higher at all in terms of $ because the variance for the 180's is already quite big anyway and the two bigger / hotter 55's are only 3 buy ins. Further, because the Bigger 55 is a reg speed we should have a significantly larger edge than in turbos. Unfortunately this doesn't solve the issue of me being able to grind off peak, but as I have placement next week and will be unable to grind and half term the week after (plenty of opportunity to grind) we don't need to agree a solid fix for at least 2 weeks. Hopefully by this point we will have won something for five figs and will be able to have such discussions in Antigua. Title: Re: $35 180man proposal; tomsom edition Post by: theprawnidentity on November 23, 2014, 07:03:21 PM I have spoken to MC and a couple of other investors and James has said he thinks it might be best if we end this stake at this stage. My course has been such that I don't really get much spare time on evenings and the games don't seem to be running as frequently as they were anywhere. As a gesture of good will, I am willing to make up 25% of the loss to investors (which I will work out in a minute but think its somewhere in the region of $500).
Hopefully everyone is OK with this, but makes more sense to let everyone have their money in there account actually doing something than sat dormant for most of the time in mine. If anyone has an problems with this then please lmk. I will post again once I've worked out the numbers. Obviously sorry to investors for how long this has gone on for and not making any money.
