Title: Calling range?
Post by: TheFruitbat on January 13, 2014, 03:52:17 AM
Bubble of the £150 GPS side event. 65 players left. 8 handed. Table has been pretty tight with the exception of 2 players who have been pretty active.

Limp UTG from 20 BB stack. Limper has been extremely face up with his limps being very marginal hands and premiums being a 3x open, not concerned in the slightest he is tarping. Think the table must have picked up on this too.

UTG+1, shoves 17 BBs, one of the active players. Had to raise/fold a lot, been opening pots IP and getting involved a lot from both blinds. Doesn't seem to have tightened up for the bubble.

UTG+2 HERO with 15 BBs, Calling range?

Doesn't seem to have tightened up for the bubble much? Has he been ballistic for a while and you're sure of it? If he's bad then his range won't be As tight, but it should be pretty tight.

Fold tens and AQ

Hard to imagine him ripping  17 bigs with QQ+ so I'm not feeling very inclined to fold TT, fine to fold AQ though.

TT+, AK for me

if these two guys really have no fear of the bubble it would be criminal to call lighter than TT+ AK as said.

99+ AK is probably best, utg+1 probs lol jams the bottom of his 3b range a lot here like 22-77 AJ+

but personally id fold JJ here sometimes and tell no one.

Chip leader folded JJ face up to a 10BB shove in our local Sunday donkament and was amazed at the looks of incredulity on people's faces.

Tens might be a bit thin, but deffo JJ+ and AK+, AQs anyone?

I think this is really one down to experience and being at the table. Sometimes when I'm playing against a reg online that isn't very balanced their range here is like 55-TT, and the big cards can be varied. Sometimes they might open jam AKs/AQ type hands and sometimes they might just open it because AK plays better post flop with 17bb in position than 66. Some good players might not agree with me, but vs some regs here I can happily call 88-99 because it's ahead of their actual jamming range.

This is the reason why I've started open jamming AA 15bb UTG in some scenarios when I have to be really tight because I end up making some pretty incredible hero folds myself vs unbalanced regs in the scenarios where they just min raises instead of jamming.
