I managed to accidentally satellite into the Aussie Millions Main Event earlier this month. I was playing feeders into a satellite that was getting cancelled regularly, but this time it didn't and I won!

I will be playing Day 1C on the 4th of February.

This will represent the first $10k event I have played, but I have played a few large buy-in tournaments before. Once upon a time I played the $5k Heads up at the WSOP (2007). I came 10th in the £3000 English Poker Open in 2009, and last year played the €3000 ISPT.

Last year I had my best live result, finishing 3rd in the £1k Monte Carlo for £45k. I think that tournament was really good experience for dealing with big money jumps in a high pressure environment and I think I more than held my own. I'm just coming off another deep run at DTD finishing 15th in the recent GPS (sigh) and feel good about my live game even though I don't tend to venture much further than DTD these days!

I was unsure what price to sell at. Obviously I am inexperienced at $10ks and there are ongoing debates about mark-up yada yada. However I believe this is generally considered as one of the softest $10ks of the year, if not the softest aside from the WSOP ME, with tonnes of satellite qualifiers and punters Australians. I didn't realise it was a PokerStars event tbh but apparently it is. I'm putting in a bunch of time and effort to go and play the damn thing so I have decided to sell at a small mark-up. I'm fine with taking a punt if I don't manage to sell out any at the price I've gone for.

$10,600 AUD = $9227.30 USD at today's XE rate of 0.8705

I will be selling up to 30% at a mark-up of 1.084 to make it an even $10k. I might free up an extra 5% but will sell no more than 35% maximum.

So...

1% = $100
0.5% = $50 (I realise it could be an administrative ballache, but I'm happy to sell in 0.5% blocks should anyone want a mini-sweat)

I am going to go down and consider playing 1B which starts in an hour. Sources tell me that 1b is likely to be softer and I'm feeling good after a swim and a shower and getting sleep timing right on the flight.

I'm not sure how good wifi is away from my room to post a follow up.

Camel and Amatay still haven't paid but I consider them good for it so everyone's in.

If I do choose to play 1B I hope that's cool with everyone, it doesn't seem too unreasonable for me to make that executive decision.

This is looking like a good decision. I don't recognise anyone in the field. The $25k is on so that takes away some heroes. My table is decent, I have position on the player that seems the most solid. A quadriplegic with a carer got moved to the table at the end of first level and God bless him he's playing like a maniac! Only came to the table with 8k tho, think he's down to 4 or 5 now none of that donated to me.

I'm on 33kish from 30k starting.

27k end of level 2. Lost a hand right at end of level where I folded flopped bottom 2 pair on river in a 3 way pot  on what was a decent run out for me but I'm happy about the fold.

Table is one of those where u feel pretty comfortable, but no one is giving their chips away.

Was down to 23k from standard spots but have managed to win a couple hands to put me back to starting stack or slightly better at end of level 3.

Think my table is next to break which I will be happy about if I can find some punters, not so much if I don't.

31k end level 4, a nothing level. New table in which I'm seat 8 and defending champ is seat 7, Tim Slated is 6.

Great comeback James. The 88 hand is pretty special, he's put about 40% of his stack in on the turn with little to no equity. Not sure what is going through his head luckily.

Mervin Chan was sent to the rail by Sotirios Kappas. The last of Chan's chips went in on the river with a board reading AQJ9Q, and he was likely confident with his  flopped Broadway straight. But Kappas, who won a big pot earlier in the day by hitting running cards, managed to make a runner-runner full house with the Q9 of spades
