Title: RSQ - Let's have some fun...
Post by: KarmaDope on February 04, 2014, 09:39:51 PM
Rules:

The score for each question is the number of people who give that answer.

The most popular answer is the sheep.

Incorrect answers receive the sheep score plus 5 points.

Lowest score wins.

Doing research is not allowed.

You may choose to pass on up to two questions and will score 0 points for those questions. You may NOT pass the final two questions.

PM your answers to me by 6pm Sunday 9th February. The reveal will then take place at 8pm.

Please note that if a question asks for a country I am using the Pointless definition: a sovereign state which is a member of the U.N.

Questions:

1. 20 football managers started the 2013/14 Premier League Season. Name a manager that has since been fired or left the club.

2. Name a country that uses the dollar.

3. Name a band that headlined either Download Festival, Reading Festival or Glastonbury in 2013.

4. Name a city in the United States of America that British Airways fly direct to.

5. Name one of the political parties in the UK that have a current, sitting MP.

6. Name a college of the University of Cambridge.

7. Name a Gold Medal winner from Team GB at the 2012 London Olympics.

8. Name a hotel on the Las Vegas Strip that is not owned by either MGM or Caesars Entertainment.

9. There are 9 UK primal cuts of lamb. Name one of them.

10. Name a James Bond novel written by Ian Fleming.

11. There are eleven questions in this quiz. Choose one of them.

The capital letters are there for a reason... :)

However, for clarification, it is the Barclays Premier League.

Hardest. Quiz. Everrrrrr.

sharplea never learns.

Q1 isn't quite as bad as the old avenger sevenfold q1 but for someone who doesn't follow football it's pretty much impossible.

Think you need to reread the question. It first starts out with a statement, a statement that might actually be completely unrelated to the question that follows. So all you have to do is name any manager who has left a club.

Pretty sure that's probably not what sharples meant to ask, but who are we to second guess what he actually meant? We can only answer what is in black and white.

Q3. Could you define 'Headlined' please

That one is down to your own interpretation.

Oh, btw, I asked these questions to our IT service desk at work and as anyone can tell you, IT service desk monkeys are not very clever. Even they thought the quiz was easy. After all, you do have 2 passes!

Had 4 entries so far and I can only do the reveal on Sunday so it will have to be then. Can someone sticky this please!

The 15 entrants are above. So, one of those will have the honour of doing the next quiz. Hopefully they get more runners than I do!

I must admit I had to laugh when I saw the "abuse" for the questions. Apart from the first one, ALL of them are alterations/copies of previous RSQ questions!

So...Q1. 20 football managers started the 2013/14 Premier League Season. Name a manager that has since been fired or left the club.

Objection. The question said "Name a country that uses the dollar". "The" implies that it is referring to the principal item, not just any item. The US Dollar is the recognised prime Dollar for the world. The only correct answers are those where US Dollars are used, not Australian Dollars, etc. If the question had been "Name a country that uses dollars", any old dollar would have been correct, but it didn't.

You're overthinking it, John. The Australian's use the dollar. The Canadians use the dollar. They just don't use the US dollar. If I wanted countries that use the US dollar, I'd have specified US dollar.

If you ask an Australian what currency they use - the answer will be "the dollar, mate".

Same question/answer for the Canadian.

I understand your argument, but for the quiz it has to be any item, as I didnt specify in which country my question would be asked. If I was in Canada, the principal item would be the Canadian Dollar. In the UK, if I were to ask our friend Craig about dollars, as a Canadian national he would more than likely think I am referring to the Canadian Dollar.

Objection denied, sadly.

This is going horribly in the wrong direction. Had no idea on the next and took a flyer. Please let The Venetian be wrong.

I object to a bullshit question which is basically blind luck if you don't happen to know who owns what (and why should you?)

Right I call objection on 2 points;

Firstly lamb fillet is a cut... http://www.morleybutchers.co.uk/wp-content/uploads/2013/11/cutsoflamblarge.jpg

And Iraq uses the US dollar as an official currency therefore uses the dollar and that fulfils the question

Primal cuts, not all the cuts. There is a difference.

I did look for proof that Iraq used a dollar as an official currency but couldnt find any. If you can, let me know. I don't think it will affect the standings so happy to be proved wrong...

Nooooooooooo! You killed me on the first question, and I object!
Dollars are accepted currency in Mexico, therefore it it a country that uses the dollar!

If not for this travesty, I would have been in second place. Miffed.

Well done David, and thanks (sort of) Sharplea.
