Title: Kickoff - second hand
Post by: Flash92 on April 13, 2014, 01:32:05 PM
http://www.boomplayer.com/en/poker-hands/Boom/8449246_F8CC6E21F3

Villain is Skillhack1.5 - second hand $109 kickoff

What range is villain c/r this flop with, is the fold okay?

Sorry if this is trivial :/

Thank you.

I feel like when I post this kind of hand that I have flaws in my foundations.

Always opening value hands 4/5x pre at the early levels.
Would be happy to check behind the flop and obviously betting most turns
if checked to, and evaluate any turns he bombs.

Pleno is on here daily asking standard questions, so he can improve and neither of us will likely be
as good as him at any point in the near future so fire away imo. :-)

His posts tend to be a touch more interesting though. I'd very rarely label one of his posts as trivial but that is just to be expected from a player like him. I also would adopt a standard raise size instead of 4/5xing, particularly from the button.

In the spot itself flash I'd have 3xed pre. I think anything is ok as long as you raise but generally 250bb deep in tournaments I'd like to open a bit bigger.

Folding to the check/raise is fine ofc. We beat nothing and have "meh" equity vs even his weakest bluffs. What sort of range did you think he would check/raise? I think answering fundamental poker questions/situations is much more important for development at your stage than any singular strategy question you could ask, unless of course, you note you have several similar type questions/issues about the same spot.

I felt that this player could c/r quite wide for value and will be fairly balanced with semi bluffs - I can't see many hands that he has that do not have some kind of equity.

That's the reason I folded, I thought I was either drawing slim or that he had a lot of outs and could force me into mistakes on later streets.

I don't know whether it's just me being lazy but I don't click on boomplayer links ever so never reply to PHAs with them. So much easier to read a HH than to have to watch a replay esp when on a phone. If it's just me then np I'll gtfo, but imagine it's not...

If I'm in a lazy mood I'd rather have the boomplayer, but I need to be not playing poker. When playing poker though it's pretty impossible to watch a boom.

no +1

never open boom links, especially when grinding it just cant be done and I haven't got time to focus on the action. Have no real desire to get sent 'links' be it boom, weaktight etc as it's just asking for a dodgy link to be inserted. obv the absolute worst for this is twitter and shortened links but it applies here too.
