£1 MILLION SKY POKER 6-MAX UK POKER CHAMPIONSHIPS SET FOR AUGUST

[LEEDS, United Kingdom – 16th April, 2014] ¬– Sky Poker has announced another major addition to the British poker calendar with the Sky Poker 6-Max UK Poker Championships to take place from 7th-17th August 2014. The event will once again be hosted by Dusk Till Dawn in Nottingham with the highlight of the series set to be the £500,000 Guaranteed 6-Max Championship Event.

The Sky Poker 6-Max UK Poker Championships festival will take place 7th-17th August 2014 at Dusk Till Dawn with every event on the schedule in the popular six-handed format. The £1,000 buy-in Championships Main Event will feature three Day 1 flights, with re-entries available on Days 1a and 1b (Tuesday 12th and Wednesday 13th August respectively). The Sky Poker 6-Max UKPC Champion will be crowned on Day 4, Sunday 17th August.

The 6-Max UK Poker Championships Main Event concludes an eleven-day schedule of poker in Nottingham, with High Roller, Pot Limit Omaha, Mini, Turbo and Hyper-Turbo events also on the schedule. A total of £1,000,000 will be guaranteed in prize pools across all events, with the Main Event offering £500,000. As with the first UK Poker Championships, Sky’s TV cameras will be at the event to capture the action from the final.

 “After the success of the inaugural Sky Poker UK Poker Championships earlier this year, we are delighted to announce this additional 6-Max festival”, said Richard Milner, Head of Sky Poker. “With the excellent team and facilities that DTD offer, we’re sure it will be a great event and we know that 6-Max is very popular with Sky Poker customers. The previous event was full of many well-known and high profile favourites from the UK poker scene and we expect the same this time”.

Satellites to the £500,000 Sky Poker 6-Max UKPC Championship Event will be available on Skypoker.com from Monday 21st April, with regular satellites running from as little as £2.10. There will also be a series of promotions and freerolls on Skypoker.com throughout the coming months which could lead to someone winning an anticipated six-figure first prize for free!

Satellites & Promos (including Freerolls) to the MAIN EVENT ONLY start on SkyPoker.com on Monday, & wiull be based, as per the previous UKPC, on weekly finals.   

DTD will, as I understand it, operate their usual "win a token, use it for anything" system, so, in effect, qualifying has already began there. I imagine they will get UKIPT out of the way before revving up the 6-Max UKPC noise.

Both DTD & SkyPoker will work hard to try & make this a great festival, & that's very much the plan. Kudos to Rob & his crew, (even Nick) who have been endlessly patient with me, (on behalf of SkyPoker), in negotiations & discussions.   

I   Will be blocking out these days in my diary now. The last Sky Festival at Dusk Till Dawn was brilliant and I think 6 Max is the best form of Texas. Also the place will be rocking as Rob has loaded some new tunes onto the IPod sound system :-)

Great news. The last Sky Poker Championship was the best UK festival atmosphere I have seen. Glad it seems to becoming a fixture / hope it does become a fixture. Better get winning some tokens!

I think it's fantastic the way DTD are holding these festivals. Its not just one main event anymore theres great tourneys all week.  I personally prefer 6max to full ring and I know a lot of other poker players do too, very excited about going down for this.

The whole idea, from inception back in the Autumn of 2012, was to make these Festivals, rather than specific Events.

The UKPC was as near to perfect as possible, for a Uk poker festival.... great fun, superb atmosphere, events excellently planned, and impeccably executed.
Having said that I lost money, so it was obviously s***!  :)

Some people are a little wary of 6-max, but I hope it doesn't put anyone off playing. The week/events will tick so many boxes for all types of player, and the 6-max Mini at the start of the week, at £250, could be an absolute monster success.

Big fan of this schedule and even bigger fan of DTD, I haven't  really played much live stuff this year but I'm always in when it's there, good job guys!

Fantastic. Out of interest, how did the turbos do last time round? Who won the vegas package too? i dont remember reading much about that.

Been waiting for you, I need you to organise Team Budapest to come across.

There was only one Turbo last time, on the Sunday. It beat the G'tee, but not by much, needed 50 runners, got 55. The 6 Max Sidey, though, got over 400 runners, which blew us away, & helped prompt the logic behind doing this.

We think - hope - that 6-Max will work better for Turbos though. What you reckon?

The Vegas Package? Well it was a "Vegas or Cash" thing, & the Main Event winner bagged it, young Alex Spencer. However, he is not 21 yet, & so was not eligible for Vegas, so I assume he took the cash or DTD Token equivelent. DTD organised that, so I'm not certain, to be honest.

Looks like another great Festival to look forward to and plenty of time to sat into it nice and cheap , possibly  :)

My only criticism of the UKPC was how the leaderboard was structured, making it, in my opinion 90-95% certain that whoever won the main event won the leaderboard.

I'd like there to be more of a sweat so people can still get there if they come 4th in the last turbo or something! It'll get more people staying on for the last few events if multiple people can still bink the package.

Can't disagree Alex, & it caused us all a few furrowed brows last time.

DTD are looking after the Leaderboard Thing, but in the many discussions I've had with Rob & Simon, I know they are keen to make it work better this time.

 

I think a way to make the leaderboard sweat more fun would be to have a nightly super turbo.

8.30/9pm start, 9 handed, 15 min clock, £100/150BI? These kind of formats are very popular at EPTs

 Obv points would have to be lower to reflect the BI but in a leaderboard challenge people would happily play something like this when a couple of points could be all the difference.

Capacity with all the extra tables needed is the only issue I can see.

Fair comment, but yes, capacity is much reduced with 6-Max. It's one for DTD to decide, in truth.

They are also trying to make room in the Festival schedule for the "local regulars", with nightly £25 & £50 Tourneys if possible. (Not confirmed yet).

That's the 6-Max stumbling block - it reduces capacity so much, quite apart from increased Dealer costs. Guess that explains why there has not been one previously.

Leaderboard cannot work whilst DTD insist can't play 2 tournaments at once- its either gonna mean you are at a massive advantage by winning the main event or a massive disadvantage if they tweak the format to add weight to the side events because you won't be allowed to play them. The way it worked last time meant if you came second in the main you could not possibly win the leaderboard.

Simon did say a few reasons why he didn't want to allow people multi tabling, I and most people I knew disagreed with his reasons but obviously that's their rules and having leaderboards with this rule in place is just a waste of time

great to see DTD making the effort to run a full series of events that we can all support and enjoy rather than the offerings of late which mostly amount to a single main event with the odd half hearted side event.

Hopefully we will see all the young superstars and all the  old has-beens battling it out over a week of great tournaments

Also the leaderboard situation should be fine now as the festival is longer and most players can play virtually every event, unlike the last one where the main event winner was almost always going to win the leaderboard (though apparently 6 people could have won it going into the last turbo event)

The leaderbaord should be a proper competitive affair this time!

The way stars do early main's with evening turbos i think works really well.

Start the main at 12 play for 10 hours ish. Have a nightly turbo starting at 9 where the people playing the main can jump in at 10pm when they are done. Put the nightly turbo in the leaderboard jobbie and just weight the points down. That would be my solution, will hopefully be in for a week depends on where my life is by then and if i am broke! :)

The high roller is the day after we get back from my stag do- probably going to be some sore heads around the field for that one!

Also like the idea of nightly hypers... keep people interested who have travelled in groups and have a mate still in the daily tournament. Would also help keep the leaderboard race a bit more open to a wider range of players. Doesnt have to be a huge buy in- £100 for 10k chips/10 min clock or whatever, finishing with the bigger one at the end of the week to give people a chance to get out of it ;-)

Also, to solve the space issue, these could be 8 handed, you get 6max sides at a full ring festival, so why not the other way round.

A shame that it has been decided to clash this against the Goliath. Would have liked to play, but I'll be working those dates.

There will not be Satellites on Sky Poker for the Omaha, no, but I believe that once UKIPT is over, DTD will be running the "Token" system, where you win £500 or £1,000 tokens, & can store them up & use them for anything you wish, including the Sky Poker UKPC 6-Max Omaha.

 The first “weekly final” took place last night on Sky Poker.

5 seats were Guaranteed, with seats costing £220, so 25 runners were needed.

The Final itself had 21 qualifiers before yesterday, 5 qualified from last night’s Semi, & one paid in direct, = 27 runners, so no overlay.

The Semi-Final feeding to it produced 9 qualifiers from 49 runners @ £48 (no overlay), so that was also pleasing.

The 5 qualifiers all play regularly both on Sky Poker, & at the DTD Club in Nottingham.

The structure on this event is so good - 50k chips! I would love to play but I would have to win my way in and a 1 in 20 seat isn't likely enough for me to invest some of my bankroll in... would be great if an extra satellite was running giving a 1 in 10 or less like sky poker is as I prefer DTD's software

if it's the first, then rake is higher at 11.1%. Please say the 2nd!!

Pretty sure its the 11.1% option.  If the prize pool is £500k and you take out 10% for rake then you take £50k out.  Therefore £450k is left in the pot.  So its a £450+£50 comp or £900+£100 comp.   I never worry about the juice at DTD because they basically use any additional juice and lump it back and way more on top into the sat feeders/overlays plus they take huge risks with massive gtd's so you intitled to charge more juice for the product they offer.  If any other uk operator did this i wouldn't play as they give nothing back.

I will be honest here. For some of our smaller events where capacity and numbers are not an issue the DTD ruling is usually your chips do not go into play until you arrive.

For UKPC, UKIPT's etc we have a issues where players want to:

Pre Register but want to be late
Arrive late and have a seat guaranteed
Register Online via the software or shop.

For this event (as per the last UKPC) if you buy in in advance via the shop (or are in initial lobby holding tanks) your chips will be in play from the start. If you are going to be late and pre buy in you are welcome to let us know and we won't put you in the tournament system  BUT will run the risk of an alternates list etc. Something we always try to avoid. This system will operate for UKPC and UKPC 6-Max Mini.

Yes, the problem arises in "capacity" events, when a player arrives late, &, not unreasonably, wants to take his seat immediately. Gets a bit awkward then.

And leaving seats empty for pre-booked entries, whilst there is an Alternates queue out the door, makes no sense, either.

It's not many years back that if we arrived after the first hand was dealt, you were auto-disqualified. How times change, & so quickly, too.

Best to try to arrive on time, imo.

There have been one or two minor updates to stuff like Late Reg times, clocks etc, but nothing major.

Were you aware that The Vic have a mini PLO and PLO8 fessie this Friday, Saturday and Sunday?

Sheffield did have that crazy rule and the locals feasted like pirhanas on that dead money and fought hard to make sure the dealer doubled it every hand!

Nottingham Gala had that rule too, and the game was all pot-limit at that time  which could cause a table with an all-in ante to be playing far bigger than the others if the pot raise included that swollen ante.

This along with the musical-chairs style of breaking tables caused several fist-fights to break out in the card-room, one of which I'm ashamed to say I was involved in.

Oh the table breaks were comedy. You were only allocated a table, not a seat so everyone ran as quick as they could to the seat behind the button. I remember big Dave Smith just used to make his own seat. Even if seat 8 was available he'd try and wedge a chair between 3&4 if that meant he was behind the button. Usually got that one through to be fair!

Any reason why there are no day 1's for the £250 mini this weekend online?  There are usually 2 online day 1's weds and thurs for standard monthly deepstacks.  Given its 6max i thought it would be more likely to have 2 day 1s online to save dealer exs.  However it appears there are none.  Don't really want to travel to the club for the day 1 if possible as well as day 2 on sunday then most of next week as well for the main festival. 

Any chance of day 1's being set up online given i have just got a text about how busy saturday will be at the club seems crazy to not have 2 online day 1's surely during the week like normal?

I guess Sky didn't want there to be an online day 1 on DTD for a Sky affiliated tournament? If so understandable I guess but slightly disappointing for players who like to play an online day 1 and only travel for the day 2.

I'm not aware that Sky Poker have had any input or discussions on this matter.

It was def showing for wednesday only on the dtd front page a day or so ago.  I wondered why there was only one day 1 then but was happy to play it anyway.  Now, like you say, it's just totally disappeared.  Very disappointing as ex's are going to be big enough over the next 10 days without having to travel to notts twice when we could easily play the day 1 online for this mini 250 which is effectively just the monthly £150k deepstack which usually has 2 online day 1's as standard.  Given the text received about dealer/space pressure at the club it seems crazy.  I am just assuming it's an error and the day 1's online are still occurring.

- it is not the monthly Deepstack it is the UKPC 6-Max Mini and part of the UKPC festival and overall leaderboard

- we never hold online day 1's for external festivals.

- We are giving players the option to pre-register via the shop so that they don’t miss out on a seat..

- There is an additional £20,000 Mini promo for players who reach the final on both so the added incentives should give players added reasons to play both the £250 6-Max Mini and Main Event.

Why on earth do the penny roll satellites finish 10 minutes before the next step tournament is supposed to start? Seems pretty ridiculous.

They run literally every 30 mins all afternoon and evening, they feed in to one evening sat so inevitably there will be one feeder out of dozens a day that doesn't quite finish and the top four chip stacks go through in that particular sat
A warning comes on screen to tell you the game will end and again on the last hand

Pretty sure it only happens in one sat per day - no problem as far as I see (unless you don't realise and sit 5th with four through and fold the last hand effectively eliminating yourself)  ;whistle;

DTD have changed their business moddel somewhat, & now give priority to 3 x third-party Clients, 'Stars, WPT & Next Door, all of whom are currently contracted to hold major events @ DTD every year. It's the view that as each of those Clients have their own platforms for Updates, then that is where the Updates should be. A perfectly reasonable view, even though it's not ideal for blonde.   

Man On The Spot thinks, with some certainty, 15 (FIFTEEN) Levels today.

Who will be updating for next door?  Is it you Tikay?

The Main Event (starts Tuesday) will be done by Lord Tighty, obviously with my guidance, in addition to my onerous Front of House responsibilities.

There is no formal update as such before then, though I'm doing one at the moment. Sort of.

Played around with the DTD software, and can't see the main event anywhere. And I clicked on the website link and added the tourney to my basket, but when I go to checkout it only gives me the option to checkout as a guest. Can't see anywhere to sign in. And since I want to use the balance in my DTD Poker account to buy-in I will have to sign in somehow!

Any ideas/help guy? I realise I am likely being thick lol.

To anyone who takes the M1 northbound to get to DTD next week the A453 is going to be SHUT FROM MONDAY for the working week.  This is the road if you get off at junction 24. There is already a lot of roadworks there anyway and the route isn't advisable.

Looking at the maps I recommend taking exit 25 onto the A52.

If travelling from the south I'd recommend for players to drop off the M1 onto the 46 at Leicester and follow that in. A46 - A52 then you're the right side of the dual carriageway and avoid the diversion route.

A much better route - MUCH better - is to exit at J21a, then A46 Newark, A606 Notts, takes you right to the front door of DTD without any traffic at all. Good dual carriageway all the way, no traffic. Good crash barriers too.

From exiting M1 north @ J 21a, takes 20 minutes tops.

It was the £55 5 seats gtd sat for me.  I played 2 penny rolls whilst playing that and won a £5.50 seat for both of them.  Before i went to bed last night i checked the lobby to see what time all 3 were starting and i had been entered in all 3 for tonight.  When i got up this morning i wasn't entered (appeared in black bold type in the lobby) for any of today's sats at all and there were no seat credits in the account not attached to particular sats.

Never seen this happen before.

It was around 11.15 or 11.20, give or take a few minutes.

Yes, the HR is a re-entry, so if you win a seat in the HR Sat, job done. 

I assume it can be used as £3k worth of DTD tokens, too, though I'm not sure on that, as I don't speak for DTD.

The Main Event Day 1a has the option to re-enter into 1b or 1c.

Day 1b has the option to re-enter into Day 1c.

Day 1c is a FREEZEOUT. That is one of the reasons why all Sky Poker qualifiers were auto-defauted into 1c. They can move to 1a or 1b if they wish, though, just ask Tighty or I & we'll sort it.

Think I'll spare everyone the tikay speech, doing it 3 days running is a little unfair on the players, imo....
