Title: Scoop 6 this weekend
Post by: MahoganyVic on April 23, 2014, 10:40:18 PM
Pretty huge rollover. Any plans for a blonde syndicate or anything?

Was going to start this thread myself.  I'm happy to put it on etc if we want to have a crack at it.  These are the most obvious +EV spots in gambling imo and can be life changing.  I'm in for 150 to start the ball rolling.

in for a tenner or twenty tops if the low stakes punters can have a go

Think any stakes are fine.  My only prerequisite would be that I would need bank xfer rather than poker transfers.

in for £200 on the premise the best horse judges/placepot judges do the perm as a whole rather than everyone picking their own selections

Yeah can be done online.

I can help with the placing if that is needed. Obviously someone would have to give me the selections! Otherwise i will pick the best names.

Post by: redarmi on April 24, 2014, 02:52:42 AM
Thinking about it it might be better if someone else actually places it because I am still in Florida and to organise it would involve me getting up very early and I have a few other bits and pieces to do this Saturday.  If Callum is up for it then that would be great?

Love Blonde. Only on Blonde would someone open a thread they don't understand the title of on the basis that it might be something to do with a random form of gambling they know nothing about but want in on anyway.

Does anywhere do cash back on scoop 6 these days.  Think you used to get 10% somewhere in the past.

Some independents will probably be willing to do something if the perm is big enough ie a couple of grand.  Not sure it will be as much as 10% back though.  Aren't there a couple of independents that post on here?

yes exactly that junior!

Ok, i am in as long as we have a judge or two involved and no one runs off with the jackpot if we scoop.
People are posting random amounts itt which i presume will equate to shares so i am in for £30 if that doesnt mess the calcs up.

Yes, think they used to do a 10% rebate but maybe it was elsewhere.  A while since I have done a scoop 6 perm.

Title: Re: Scoop 6 this weekend

Betfair used to offer a rebate to selected customers but not widely.  No idea if they still do.

Seems like this is going to go ahead, could Redarmi or Vic just explain exactly how this is going to run. i.e we all transfer money to x by such a day, that gets us x amount. Y is choosing the perms and x is holding the tickets. Finally it takes Z amount of time to get the winning jackpot paid to us.

Just so we all know what's happening.

I used to be close to 2% commission, now 5.   Guess that makes a difference

Betfred sometimes adds £100k to the kitty for anyone who wins at his shop/site. Normally only announced on the day though.

I am in for £100. I can put on if needed but only on betfair (no fred account or shop), and obviously I'm not very well known here so that might effect things!

Title: Re: Scoop 6 this weekend

Chaps,

If the idea is to do it this weekend, we'll need to get the skates on - it is Friday today.

Over £1,700 has been "pledged", probably near £2k, so someone needs to take charge of the thing PDQ.

That £2k all needs transferring to whoever puts it on etc, that won't happen in an instant, also someone needs to decide who selects the horses, & then that guy needs to get to work.

Sorry if I've missed something, but the way I see it, someone needs to take control of this quickly, if it is to happen.

Assuming it goes ahead, any of the blonde regulars can be involved. Doubt Dubai will be interested, he has Nursey Fees to witter about.

If this does go ahead, would suggest using Pingit ( http://www.barclays.co.uk/Mobile/BarclaysPingit/P1242603570446 ) to send and receive the payments. You don't need to be a Barclays customer, payments are instant and free. Assuming the receiver would be willing to post their mobile number here, it might streamline things a bit.

Agreed.

I neither have the time nor the ability to help out, but if this is to go ahead, it needs......

1) Someone to take charge, & get it moving.

2) An agreement as to who makes the selections. It's already been suggested it should be someone who knows horse racing well. We have quite a few of those, though count me out if Eso Kral gets the gig. Middle-aged, see?

Title: Re: Scoop 6 this weekend
Post by: Doobs on April 25, 2014, 09:20:45 AM
If nobody wants to do it, I have enough in my Betfair account to put the bet on.  I don't have any refund on scoop 6 bets.

Can PM bank details to people or take Stars.  Can get the bet on tonight, will be harder in the morning.  Might be better to take a few on Stars, so the bank doesn't get funny.

Can talk to Arbboy, Horsey, anybody else who can add something by PM.  Better to keep it a small group, as syndicate discussions can be horrific and everyone can easily fall out.  It is better for me to get most of the discussions done this afternoon.  Have kids so answers might not be instant at times.

Not likely to do the mobile thing.  My bank transfers usually arrive quickly.  I guess it is better if people do this in bank hours.

Anybody any objections?

Can people look out for the scoop 6/channel 4 races for tomorrow.  I can't find either yet, but guess the first 4 at Sandown are going to be definitely on, but guess Totepool will duck the 3.15 for the scoop 6.  The others look suitably horrific for someone looking for a big pool.

Warning.  Even with a big pool, punters have to be prepared to do their bollocks on race 1.

If you want in state how much.  Will PM everyone who responds about lunch time with bank details and stars name.

We will work the perm round the money raised, but £1500 is about 3 horses a race (not this is not set in stone, it may be better to do 2 in some, 4 in others).  I will likely adjust my amount to get a sensible perm.  Say if we are £100 short of a 3x3x3x3x3x3 perm, it is best if someone just tops up.  Or if we are £10 over, I will likely just put in £190.  All this will be disclosed before the first race tomorrow.

I am not a fan of spin up/downs but if left with a small amount, we may just punt it on the Scoop 6.  Anything over say 10% back will do refunds.  You get refunds if a place line comes in, just in case it isn't clear.  Anybody got better ideas, pipe up now.

Excellent.  Didn't realise Sir Chompy was in.

Had another thought on the residual. If there is less than £150 left, could just add it to my ten to follow entry to give a season long sweat.  Anybody got a preference? FWIW have a 2nd for near £30k in this to my name, though Tikay is the master.  Pools are going to be smaller than that these days, though likely 50k for first or so.

In for £200.  Happy to let Chompy/Redarmi/doobs/horsey make the decisions.  Redarmi is very good at strategy of these things like Doobs prob will be as well.  Horsey and Chompy prob the best for the actual horse form.  I don't claim to be good at either and would rather those 4 and anyone other suitably skilled judges to make the decisions.  Strategy/game theory is as important as picking the actual horses themselves as discussed before.  Pm bank details doobs and i will ship across now.  TY.

Obviously add Camel to this list of 4 wise men now he has rejoined us.

Most companies get 14.5% from Fred for dealing with this and you can get 10% discount quite easily if you can negotiate. I was in a big perm last week and we got 12% from a friend of mine. I can arrange this if you would like.

Just read that back, not sure it made sense. Betfred pay 14.5% commission to companies that take Scoop 6 bets, these companies offer 10% cash-back to big syndicates and I can get 12% if you like, whoever is collecting the money and making the picks just needs to get in touch and I'll give the number of my friend (Camel knows him too) who has a small chain of shops and deals with a lot of the big syndicates.

I don't get anything from this by the way.

FML.

Think our Scoop Panel is Chompy, Redarmi, doobs & horsey. I imagine they'll ask me, too, but not heard yet.

Change me to a tenner.

Was ready to insta cancel myself when I read that.  Chompy said he'd put some thoughts up.  Going to put it all together, have a look at ghee maths and try and get the best perm.  Am pretty sure on where we need to be maths wise, but certainly need help sorting the wheat from the chaff on the marginal horses.

Just sorting lunch will send pms to people around 2ish

I will send 4 selections in the 4 flat races in order of my preference.

Please happily pay more heed to Chompy, Reds and Your own ideas though mine maybe a little more leftfield having had a look this morning.

Cheers

In for 150.  Arbboy is going to send mine with his.  In terms of strategy happy to be in and to help but I think these things are fairly straightforward.  You are trying to maximise your chances of winning so a lot of favourites etc with a couple of bigger priced wildcards that you think are good value and likely to be overlooked but still have a decent chance of winning so we are talking 14/1 shots we think should be 9/1 rather than 100/1 shots you think should be 40/1.

Doobs - Matt Lewis (cutefish on blonde) is having £200 via me and Gary Strang (Rotty1964 on blonde) £50 via me as well.  I will be sending Red's £150 as well as my £200 so £600 in total from me when you sent your bank details.  Thought this would cut down on the admin for you.

£600 sent Doobs - Reference ARBBOY SCOOP 6

I have sent PMs to everybody back to page 5, except Jaffacake.

Seems I can't do more than 15 pms an hour so everyone else will have to wait a bit.  If you haven't got a PM and can send to stars, you can send to bullstopper (boris avatar).  I am not going to put bank details on here.  Next batch of PMs will go just after 4.

If you have posted in on pages 5 onwards and have no PM then let me know.

I can't reply to any PMs I have either, but got your latest one Neil and Eso.

Paid so far
Tikay £50
Ed £50
OverTheBorder £20! (pls everybody make it a multiple of £2)
MahogonyVic £100
DMorgan £100

I assume I have got a few in the last 10 minutes, they just haven't showed up yet.

We are getting 12% discount thanks to Neil, so will take that into account when doing the perm.

Have a few things to do til 4, so might not be posting.  will try and update after that

Weather will help us sort things out a bit hopefully.

It's soft at Sandown today, even though jockeys aren't coming near side in the straight yet.

Birkland put water down yesterday and there's going to be rain on top of that, so get ready for some weird results at Haydock.

Ripon is a fronties course at the best of times, including after rain.

Just about to crack on now.

This is pretty much perfect strategy.  Unless we are sure 3/1 chances should really be 7/1, lines are going to be weighted to shorter priced horses with a handful of others put in.

Title: Re: Scoop 6 this weekend
Post by: Chompy on April 25, 2014, 04:15:50 PM
I likes the following...

2.05 Sand - Raven's Tower
2.20 Hayd - Sir Reginald (plenty of pace drawn low, quite a few I don't like)
2.50 Ripo - Boom! Draw bore's race. Over this trip in a field of this size we should get two groups and, the more rain there is, the better off the inside rail (low) will be. That said, there's not a huge amount of pace low. I always favour those that have run well at the course before - Fast Shot, Doc Hay, Barkston Ash (good chance he'll lead far side and has to be included).
3.25 Hayd - Gabrial's Kaka, Yourartisonfire, Foxtrot Romeo
3.30 Ripo - Sizzler (likely to lead)
3.50 Sand - Godsmejudge, Ardkilly Witness

Is fine.  So long as I know I have money by about midnight uk you are in.  I am just closing it to people who haven't indicated already that they are in.  I will be finalising the perm about then and sending it out to those that contributed, so they can give final feedback.  Adding lines after that is likely too messy, but changing horses is unlikely to be terrible.

chompy £100
borntobubble £40
K*. G* £50
J R* £50
JH O* £20
J B* £70
SJ O £50

blonde name for all 5 above.

I have two kids need bathing, I could google all this later, or try and match amounts to pledges, but could people just help me out by PMing their name if they have sent me a bank transfer and I haven't listed their bkonde name above.  This is especially true for Mr 924909* (pls send account number so I can check).  I do recognise a couple of names, but my memory is bad and I can't think what their blonde names are.  Pls include your full name in your pm, just in case they are chancers pretending they are Mr X Y*

I don't want to be overwhelmed by admin.  The perm will likely suffer if I am.

Edit £2300 including my own £200 so far.  This is in my head, will check amounts and names when the kids are asleep.

Ok, i am in as long as we have a judge or two involved and no one runs off with the jackpot if we scoop.
People are posting random amounts itt which i presume will equate to shares so i am in for £30 if that doesnt mess the calcs up.

Way back on page 3. In too early.

Kids know when you are trying to do something else.  I probably didn't account for the difference between typing "that looks good to me" in tips for tikay and trying to read 10 pages of a thread, my bank statement, and 2 pages of PMs all on a smart phone whilst watching one child at the gym and another who sensed a good opportunity for an unannounced game of hide and seek.

Did see your name, but got missed off whilst trying to balance things.

Will PM you and Maldini bank deets now.  Was hoping to play poker tonight, but two tabling like the old days right now.

Warning to those playing the #scoop6 tomorrow. 94 runners means there are 13,861,120 possible winning lines. The lottery has 13,983,816

 (a tweet I just saw).

"I've never been so sure of anything in my life.  I am going to win this lottery.”
“Homer, the odds are three-hundred-and-eighty million to one.”
“Correction, three-hundred-and-eighty million to fifty!”

It seems that the co-op don't copy your references through, so apologies for that.  I have never really noticed before as I have previously got bank transfers in dribs and drabs.  When I send them out I use pay bills rather than bank transfer to get round it.

I have worked out those that didn't send me a PM by timing of transfers and pledges.

Thanks for everybody's patience.

I am still waiting on kp (£100), Eso (£50) and maldini (?).

I am going to do a backcheck now, but if you think you have sent more than 10 mins ago and aren't in the above list or the amount next to your name is wrong, please let me know soon.

Cheers

£50 please

will send later - stars / BT?

Think I am up to date.

I have checked the thread and think I am only missing this booking from my post here http://blondepoker.com/forum/index.php?topic=63649.msg1932055#msg1932055

Tom is in for £50 and doesn't need to send as I owe him more than £50 for SCOOP.  (EDIT crossed post, will send the full amount for SCOOP when I have got through this!)

I think the grand total is £3185 (edit) once you include my £200.  This doesn't include any Maldini money.  I am going to max him at £50, so I can start work on the perm.  If he doesn't reply by 12, that is mine, if he wants less than £50 I take the difference.  If he sends more than £50, anything over £50 will be returned.

hope that is clear

With Maldini we have £3235 (edit).  Assuming a 12% discount we have 1836 (edit) lines.

That gives us a 3 x 3 x 3 x 4 x 4 x 4 perm and 110 left over.  I will think about this after looking at the horses  (FWIW it is a 3x3x3x4x1x1 perm more or less (so I'll probably just knock £3.65 off my contribution unless I can think of anything better in the next hour or so).

Maldini is in for £20, KP £100.  That leaves me with £226.35 and two perms
3x3x3x4x4x4
and
3x3x3x4x1x1

I have a main perm already which I am going to sense check past a couple of people before posting.

I have sent Arbboy the numbers and slips.

I don't want to put the slips up, but he can confirm the amount bet.

I can send copies of slips to any other email if people want another independent check.

Don't think we need to be too paranoid.  10 mins before the first race should be fine.  If someone can copy all the numbers and get a £3k bet on in 10 mins without any bother good luck to them.  And they have to be daft enough to assume I have a clue what I am doing and accept they can only ever split the prize at best.

Right, am off out soon.

Thanks to Chompy, Red Armi, Horseplayer and Neil for the help.

I have excluded quite a few horses that have been suggested.  It needed doing or we'd be in for a gazillion.

Hence we are way more likely to have thrown away a winning perm than picked one.

Please keep the thread free of aftertiming.

Reckon we are only 30% to get through race 1, just in case people don't get the probabilities here.

Good luck us.

Er...what?!

Just imagine, we back the first 5 winners, then have to sweat a misclick.

Even better, the sixth one loses, we're all disconsolate and you then realise you'd accidentally backed the winner.

Right, I'm off to play pool.

Ha, some draw bore was all over Fast Shot from stall 1 in the Ripon sprint, then took him out this morning. That would have been some way to go down if we'd negged the first few.

Defo looking like a rollover only 16 tickets left going into leg 4.  Big priced winner here and it kills it I think.

Same time same place next week then!  Surely the bigger it gets the more likely lotto players will have a go as it will probably be bigger than the lotto jackpot next week
