Ok so I've just had an argument with my brother about whether or not I should bet the turn here or not. I said we shouldn't bet the turn here as we don't want the pot getting out of control with a pair of eights in a three bet pot and I don't really see what is calling me on the turn that I'm beating and I'm more worried about the pot getting too big with my hand than I am about giving a free card especially on this board as I said in a three bet pot.

On a separate note what do we think when he bets the river like this?

Thanks for any comments

These seem like great reasons to not 3bet preflop. You've nailed one of the best board runs that doesn't contain an 8 and you still don't want to put much money in the pot.

As played it really depend on his preflop ranges. If he's a nitty reg he'll just have overpairs and some AK/AQ stuff and you should just check back and try to get to showdown against A high. If he's a 10nl rec punting around for fun he can have a ton of 7x, straight draws and overcards we'd prefer didn't see the river so I think you can bet for value vs that range. I don't know how these games play but I'd lean towards betting readless with the intention of checking river unimproved unless we pick up a ninja timing tell that he has 7x.

As played on the river I'd fold. I'm not really expecting him to turn A high into a bluff very often at all so when he bets he probably just has AJ/KJ/overpairs.
