Title: "24 hours in police custody"
Post by: ripple11 on September 30, 2014, 04:20:43 PM
I stumbled across this on Channel 4 last night.Really absorbing, so interesting they were allowed to show so much. Worth seeing it on catch up...and I think it was first of a series.

Set at Luton Police Station, it shows real life footage of their operation. Last night it focused on someone being interviewed and investigated over conspiracy to murder....and the final outcome.

No doubt a few Luton regulars on here might recognise the odd face  :D

It was so strange to watch.

It was like the guy was an actor, I couldn't believe he was happy for a final interview to wrap up the program at the end!

Had a couple overnights when I was younger, and can't quite work out how they would make a TV show :D

Captivating viewing, I said to the wife that I was surprised they where allowed to film so much, of course it was for the one of the only guys that was found not guilty, was sure from the interviews that he was bang to rights, particularly because of the phone box and changing his story to fit the disclosure. What about the solicitor? Surprised they showed his number plate.

Think its borderline disgraceful the police are just allowed to say and infer anything they like- luckily if you say no comment it just makes the whole thing irrelevant, the old "will hurt you in court" is garbage. No wonder the police get torn apart anytime they are ever called to be a witness for a case actually in court and not in their own bully yard

And surely no one in this day and age falls for all the Mr Nice guy followed by Mr Nasty guy routine? Its just ridiculous and almost cringeworthy, wish had gone the law route and could instruct all my clients to never say a word

Just watched this.  The copper that just got back from his holidays was like a bad David Brent.  If that is the finest Beds constabulary have to offer then I fear for the place.

Really, really compelling watching. Astounded that cameras were as present as they were throughout - can't even begin to imagine how the process worked with disclosure forms etc?!

Glad the solicitor clarified at the end that all the phone calls were about buying protein drinks.

Knew there was a logical explanation :-)

Enjoyed the programme, good watch.

Very good watch

Agree re David Brent seemed a nice enough guy but hardly a good  interviewer/ detective

This isn't actually a spoiler tom, but I get your point. Well worth a watch, even with the above info😀

Watched this the other day... Great viewing, not sure that the accused case was presented fairly though...
