4 handed, blind on blind.

We have 78k at the start of the hand

Villian has us covered just, we are 1/2nd in chips.

The player limps every blind / on blind, last couple of times we have raised/ cont bet flop and he's folded.

Decided just to check this time we are in the BB, Villian SB.

He over bets the pot 4800. I call. Pot 12800.

He bets 4800, we call. (22400)

River  Jd

He bets 8k we call.

If he bets smaller on the flop, i'm raising.

Just seems like it's a really passive line, I've took here. But was a weird overbet otf, and he hasn't done this so far.

Bit dirty, but just fold the flop?

3.3-3.8x pre, I'd go the biggest size he'd call a decent amount. We're in position with a pretty good hand. We want some fold equity too though.

As played I'd call the flop as we can really win a big pot for a smallish amount of our stack, and should find some bluff cards like a 5/T and clubs sometimes. I think we can probably fold the river. We only really beat 9T. Wouldn't raise flop ever, keep his range wide, no need to get yourself blown off equity when you have a perfectly fine drawing hand. Raise some A5/k5 or something.

Everyone I've spoke to says fold the river.

It was just his weird sizing, over bet pot, 40% pot, 36ish% pot on River.

I called I guess because I felt if he had a big hand he'd mash the pot button (and bet bigger on turn).

Unless he's scared of Ace x giving a better 2 pair, if indeed he had 2 pair (as someone pointed out)

The player was on my table from the last 2 tables down to FT, and was awesome having position on him.

He limped pretty much most hands, stuff like j4, basically any 2.

I'll look at the previous hands later sb/ bb.

I'm pretty sure I had raised the last 4 orbits blind on blind (other 2 players were nits and not playing any hands not even from the button), he was not folding to raises pre (hardly ever).

We want to be raising him most times, but is it not a good idea to balance that with some hands we check behind?

Absolutely no need to balance an exploitative adjustment vs a player who isn't going to exploit us. Which, in this case, it seems he won't. In before Alex says the opposite ;)
