I'm going to Deauville late January to play the FPS and EPT festival. I'm going to play the €10300 Hiroller and I'm selling 50% at 1.097 so 1% = €113 (£88.44), 5% = €565 (£442.20)

Experience

This will be my biggest buy-in to date. I have played 2 WSOP main events but I think they don’t really compare.

I have been to Deauville on two previous occasions and coupled with lots of experience of playing on french poker sites I believe that experience will be a major asset in dealing with the unpredictable styles of play there. I have played a handful of EPTs (probably played 12-15 lifetime) so I have experience playing in tournaments not too dissimilar to this as well as experience playing with many of the regs. So whilst this is my first 10k EPT Hiroller, I don’t expect it to be too different from things I’m used to.

In my last trip to Deauville I made day 3 of the FPS main, cashed a small side event and made day 5 of the EPT, finishing 11th for 41k . I was one flip away from a big stack at the final table, /moan.

So not only do I have a lot of experience playing in Deauville and vs the French, I also have experience going deep there, and playing for the big money.

Field Strength

I game select EPT stops carefully, I always skip the toughest ones, even London despite it being so close. I’ve chosen to play this as opposed to any other EPT Hiroller because I believe Deauville to be by far the best value stop on the tour. It is home to many rich locals, who owns yachts etc and another key point is that very few regs bother to travel to it because it is a major hassle to get there. So if I'm going to play one hiroller all year - this is definitely the one I'd chose.

There will be some of the top players in the world playing this so it’ll be a mixed field - table draw will be crucial. I’ve fared well in tough fields recently, winning the WPTN in Prague which was full of big name pros and much less recreationals than anticipated.

“FORM” and Confidence

In the last 4 months in live tournaments I’ve had two firsts, two seconds, and a fourth with cashes of €84k, €80k, £26k, €15k and €8k, with a total of $400k cashes in 2014. I’ve come 2nd in Europe and 1st in the UK in the GPI’s challengers cup, which is the GPI scoring system for midstakes live tournaments. So I’m full of confidence which really helps.

Made a decent start, up to 60k from 50 starting.

Table looked tough compared to the field but a few good swaps and now it's one of the best in the room.

Just 81 runners atm but expect it to rise to 110+

2 lots of 150/300/25 next

Dry couple of levels, losing most of the ground gained in the first two.

51,500 going into 200/400/50.

After a raise to 1,200, Martin Staszko moved all in for 13,700 and was called by both Alex Goulder as well as Piotr Franczak. On the {J-} {10-} {5-} flop Goulder bet 10,000 and was called by Franczak before the {10-} on the turn got checked through. After a {A-} river, Goulder moved all in to enforce a fold from Franczak and then flipped over pocket aces. Staszko could only reveal pocket sixes and headed out of the tournament area.

Yeh so hectic last half hour after not putting in more than 2500 chips for the first 5.5 levels.

Had that pot vs vov troy (had 22 on 96233 guess he had 96 or maybe just A9)

Then the pot with AA written above (wal)

The lost most of it straight away with KQ vs AA in 3bet pot on Kxxx, would never play it any other way vs who it was.

400/800 next playing 4 more levels

62k 600/1200 next.

Table pretty tough now. Oop to vaggro Argentinian Ivan Luca seems like he's v good.

Went down to 40 up to 80 (KK vs AK aip) then peeled 3bet oop AK and lost 3 streets on K high raggy flushing board vs 45hh.

Lost with 97 vs JT on 99K3Qr then lost about 20 small pots vs Argentina. He's a right pain, does the exact opposite of what you want him to do in every spot. Haven't seen someone dominate a table like this in a very long time.

So Argentina just put me in a coffin on the river three times.

The first one I raise btn 67s, he defends bb. 964 he check calls. A check check, river 5 he bets 1.2x pot. I wish I'd called this one but this was the first one so let it go. He shows Kh

Second one I raise btn KQ, he defends bb. A66 check check, K turn check check, 8 river, he checks i bet 1bb, he jams for 40bbs effective. He never has it but I can't call obviously. So annoying, I know I'm getting exploited to shit, but what am I supposed to do. Will check back in future!

Third one I raise TT he calls, bb calls, K75 all diamonds, I have Td, everyone checks, 7x bb checks I check again, he bets half pot. bb folds I call. river 8d so i make flush, I check he sets me in for just over pot again. FFS! Feel this one was the most likely one he had it. He actually reps some hands in this one. Folded. He shows Ac. But he really didn't wanna show the other one, and felt he had it this time, feel like he mightve had Qd or even Ad, maybe?!

All of those pots I only lost like 10bbs in total. But these were the only pots all day where I felt out of my league. So they are the ones sticking in the memory.

Was really comfortable and confident all day until this guy starting wrecking everyones lives lol.

he's had shit loads of cashes in the last few months live though. he literally won about 45/50 pots in the last two levels on our table, and it was a tough table too with Jonathan Little, David Vamplew, Dom Nitsche there too, but everyone just bent over and took it. Never seen anything like it.

Thanks for the investment and support guys. Gutted not to have done better but played as best as I could. Calling any of those river shoves would've been super optimistic and looked so stupid if I was wrong. Apart from that, I felt totally in my comfort zone all the time and was really happy with the decision to play.
